SAP BPC 5.1 and SQL Server 2008

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me if BPC 5.1 supports SQL server 2008? If so, can I have database and web server both on a single server (single server architecture)?
Thanks for your reply!
Maanas.

BPC ONLY SUPPORTS Microsoft SQL Server 2008 using version 7.0 SP3 and future SP packs. Version 5.X is not certified or supported on anything but SQL 2000 and SQL2005.  Please move to version 7M SP3 for the power of SQL Server 2008.

    Hello,
Can BPC be run with SQL Server 2008 64 bit version? Has SAP released any notes on this?
    Thanks,
    Nikunj

Excellent QUESTION.....BPC for Microsoft is currently going through a QA and evaluation process to verify the use of the new SQL version.  The application layer may still be 32 bit, but we hope to levergae the new specs and functionality of SQL 2008 to speed operation and solve other 2005 issues.  I will check with developemnt to see if we have any timeline.  If you wish to try it yourself, that is probably okay, just be aware that it will not be supported by SAP until it is certified.

  • Compatability:  CR 2008, VS 2005 and SQL Server 2008 on WINDOWS 7

Crystal Reports 2008,  Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2008 all play nice together on a VISTA or XP box.  But we cannot get a connection when we switch the OS to WIN 7.   I tried to get a connection via the report designer.  Is this combination of technologies currently supported?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Jeff;
See the [Platforms|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/00225757-ab5c-2c10-c1a8-fb9f9f0f4ac2] document for CR 2008. You need Service Pack 2 to run on Windows 7.
If you already have SP 2, then what happens when you try to make a connection?

  • Java for PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008

    Hi Gurus
I try to install PI 7.1 EHP1 in Windows and SQL Server 2008. The questions is :
What version of java is the correct for this installation???
And where i can download it??
    Thanks and advance!!!

    Hi Aaron,
The version for PI 7.1 is 1.5, instead of the 1.4.2 of 7.0/3.0.
Anyway, for VM settings, you should refer to SAP JVM, which
is used for the PI 7.11.
    Hope it helps!

  • Which version of crystal reports can link to Windev 14 and SQL server 2008 applications

I am developing an application with windev 14 and sql server 2008, i would like to know which version of crystal report can i use?

    Hi GS,
    Move to .NET SDK forum.
I don't know how CR for Visual Studio will integrate into WinDev but to get the installer for VS 2010/2012/2013 go to this page:
SAP Crystal Reports, developer version for Microsoft Visual Studio: Updates & Runtime Downloads
It's the runtime for CR 2011 or 2013 now.
As for SQL 2008 you need to install the Client tools and when creating reports use the SQLNCLI10.dll as the client DB driver for ODBC or OLE DB.

I'm getting the above error for DB links between Oracle 10.2 and SQL Server 2008 R2. But the same, when configured for MS SQL server 2000 works fine without any issues.
Please advise me to rectify the error. We've been working for the last couple of weeks.
    Regards,
    Sunil

    Sunil,
You don't need an Oracle ODBC driver.
The way it works is that in the gateway init<sid>.ora file, in your case initTelemetryDB1.ora, the parameter HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO points to a system DSN. This DSN should then be configured to use an ODBC driver to connect to the non-Oracle database. So, in your setup when you want to access the SQL*Server 2008 database then the DSN should use an ODBC driver that can connect to a SQL*Server 2008 database. If you still use the initTelemetryDB1.ora file for the connection then the TelemetryDB1 DSN should be configured to access the SQL*Server 2008 database.
However, there are a couple of problems with your actual setup -
    - the configuration you have - 10.2 RDBMS on a Sun machine and HSODBC on Windows - is not supported. HSODBC should only be used from a RDBMS that is in the same ORACLE_HOME as HSODBC.
    - 10.2 HSODBC is now desupported and has been replaced by the 11g Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) and the configuration you want is supported. That is because unlike HSODBC the DG4ODBC gateway can be installed standalone with a RDBMS being installed.
I recommend that you download and install 11.20.2 DG4ODBC on your Windows machine in a new Oracle_home and access that from the 10.2 RDBMS on Sun - which is a supported configuration. But to do this, you will need to apply either the 10.2.0.4 or 10.2.0.5 patchset to your RDBMS.
There is more information in the following note available on My Oracle Support (MOS) -
Note.1083703.1 Master Note for Oracle Gateway Products
The 11.2.0.2 DG4ODBC can be downloaded from MOS as patch and for the gateways on Windows 32-bit you just need to download -
    p10098816_112020_platform_4of6.zip
However, to check the HSODBC ou need to confirm that the DSN used by HSODBC points to a System DSN configured to access SQL*Server 2008.
    Have a look at -
Note 109730.1 How to setup generic connectivity (HSODBC) for Windows NT
But remember this is not a supported version or configuration and you should be using Dg4ODBC.

    Mike

  • LC 8.2.1.3/JBoss and SQL Server 2008 R2

Does anyone know if there are any issues with JBoss and SQL Server 2008 r2?  I tested connecting to a 2008 sql server in the adobe-ds.xml file and was getting errors in my server log.
The version of JBoss was what came with 8.0.  Would I need to update JBoss prior to being able to connect to a 2008 sql server?
    Thanks,
    John

You are correct. You cannot use 8.2 with 2008 SQL server. You have to upgrade to version 9.

  • TopLink 10.1.3.0 and SQL Server 2008 XML datatype

We use TopLink 10.1.3.0 and SQL Server 2008 database. We are trying to map a table with a column of XML datatype, but the 'Direct to XMLType' Mapping is disabled in the Workbench.
Is it possible to map an XML datatype? If so, can you please some guidance on how it can be achieved.
    Thanks for the help.
    Edited by: amehta5 on Nov 4, 2010 4:09 PM

The Direct to XMLType was desired for the Oracle XMLType. TopLink does not currently support it for SQL Server. You could extend the SQLServerPlatform to add you own support. You must also be able to just map it to a String using a DirectToFieldMapping. If the MW does not let you use the mapping, you can add it in a customizer/amendment method.
FYI: If you are using TopLink 11, you should be using the eclipselink.jar and ideally using JPA, and not using the Mapping Workbench.

  • Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?

    Hi All,
Is it possible to create a two node cluster with SQL server 2012 STD on node1 and SQL Server 2008 ENT on node2 on a Windows server 2012?
    aa

I think you are confused with the way cluster is installed. Installing SQL on cluster is a two step process. On first node you create a new SQL cluster and on second node you need "AddNode" action.
Same edition media has to be used in above two operation.
you can install two separate instances with one enterprise and one standard.

  • Xcelsius and SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services

I am totally and utterly p1$$3d off and surely I cannot be the only person to be using a similar setup i.e. Xcelsius along with SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.
I have installed and tried to get working the XRS gateway and get connectivity to Reporting Services so that SSRS reports can be utilized with Xcelsius... BUT NO...
when trying to configure and use the GetReports command from the xrs.asmx web file I get an error, namely:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    <ROOT>
<Message>Client found response content type of '', but expected 'text/xml'. The request failed with an empty response.</Message>

    </ROOT>
Only to be told when I logged a support call, that "SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services is NOT SUPPORTED"
please go back to using 2005!!!
I find this totally and utterly unbelievable, it's not even as if its a new product... and surely i am not the only person using Xcelsius and wanting to utilise 2008Reporting Services Reports...
has anyone come across this error or understand what is not occuring to get this message and how to resolve?
yours eternally grateful if anyone can shed light on the matter
    dean

Indeed, got the XRS gateway working but it isn't able to connect to RS2008.
I guess the cause is that for RS2005 the web service connection point is the file ReportService.asmx. In RS 2008 this file is renamed to ReportService2005.asmx and therefor the XRS gateway cannot connect to it.
A fix pack seems to be in the making:

    Hi BlakeDuffey,
Generally, we may see the error messge "Default appdomain failed to initialize" in the application log when try to start Reporting Services if the RSreportserver.config file has been modified unexpectedly. At this time, I suggest that you back up your
current RSreportserver.config file, and then check the config file referring to the following article:
    RSReportServer Configuration File
Note: The RSReportServer.config is located in the <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer folder.
If you cannot find the exceptions in the RSreportserver.config file, please post the config file so that we can help you to check it.
Meanwhile, please also check the Reporting Services Log file to see if there are any error messages related to the issue. If there are, please post the error messges as well. The Reporting Services Log file is located in the <drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft
    SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles folder.
    Hope this helps.

  • Reporting with Report Builder 3.0 and SQL Server 2008 R2

    Hi everyone
I'm trying really hard to find books about Report Builder 3.0 or SQL Server 2008 R2
I found the following books on the "learn" site, sadly they do not cover Report Builder 3.0 or SQL Server 2008 R2 since there all too old.
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Analysis Services Step by Step
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 MDX Step by Step
Microsoft® SQL Server® 2008 Reporting Services Step by Step
What are good books (like the ones above) for the newest system?

    Hello wishmasterIN,
Thank you to post your question on TechNet forum.
Based on my experience, the books are always delayed to the new technology, since the author need time to summarize and analyze the new features in the new product or technology, write it down and publish it. If you want to have a quick learning about the
new technology, MSDN library is a good place. It can be a cookbook for you. It contains some detail steps for tools, such as Report Builder or BIDS. It also contains many new features introduction. It is always very useful for you to understand the new features.
In addition, it is based on web and many links make you can jump to the other technical point freely. The most important is all of these is free and all the information will be updated if the new feature is released.
In short, if you want to learn the latest technology about Microsoft product, MSDN is a good choice. I hope my introduction is helpful to you.

I have found some hints by google, but nothing really helpfull.
Has anyone had a simular problem when installing SQL server 2008 R2?
All posts I found are about sql server 2008 (no R2!).
The cluster itself is working (storage, network, msdtc, quorum...).
    Any hints?
    Andreas

    Hi Andreas Plachy,
Please make sure that the Virtual Server Name ‘CLUSTER02’ is unique on the network. In addition, are there any resources named ‘SQL Server’ on the Windows cluster? If that is the case, you may need to rename the related resources to avoid conflicting with
    SQL Server, and try again.
