  • SAP BPC Upgrade Review by SAP

Will SAP  provide any kind of review of on the SAP BPC Upgrade from 4.2 to 7.0 M done by Partners

Yes, it's possible to arrange for a review by SAP Consulting. You should contact your local SAP office, either through your existing contacts, or speak to the Consulting Services organization. They can direct you to the BPC experts in your region of the world.
If the partner doesn't have prior experience with BPC upgrades (and Outlooksoft 4.2 in general), I'd recommend that you involve SAP as early as possible, before starting the upgrade if possible.

  • Error on the SAP BPC patches

    Dear SAP Support,
I used the SAP BPC 5.1 SP 3 and Ms.SQL Server 2005 SP 2 in my dev environment , I have upgrade it to be SP 11 and Ms.SQL Server 2005 SP3. SAP BPC upgrade for server, Administration, and Client(office) ran perfectly and based on the SAP BPC documentation, but I really confuse when I log in the SAP BPC Administration Console, appears the error window as following:
Public member 'SetMemberSheetVer' on type 'FormMain' not found
How to solve it please ? Please expert could help me.
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
When you process dimension for the first time, a message window will pop up asking to select the version, 2003 or earlier, or 2007. Once this option has been selected. It creates an entry in the table tblDefaults and cannot be changed later.
If you have selected 2003 or earlier, then the dimensions will be saved with .xls extension. In this case, all the excel versions (including 2007) can open the dimension sheets.
If you have selected 2007, the dimensions will be saved with .xlsx extension. In this case, the dimension sheets can be opened only if your system has 2007. If any system has 2003 or earlier version, then they will not be able to open the dimension sheets.
In this case, you need to go to the table and explicitly mention the version in MEMBERSHEET_VERSION.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Upgrade to SAP BPC 7.0 with cluster system (Front-End & Back-End)

    Hello,
I have to do an upgrade document about an outlooksoft 5.0 SP2 to SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 in a cluster system.
    It has 2 front-ends (IIS cluster windows) & 2 back-ends (SQL Cluster).
We are going to do first the migration in 1 node, and then in another. The first upgrade in the first node I understand. I uninstall outlookdoft 5.0, install SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 and then restore the backup of the Appset, and do the posts upgrade action of the Dimension TIME.
But in the second, what do we do??? I uninstall outlookdoft 5.0, install SAP BPC 7.0 SP4 and then what??? Do I have to restore the backup of the Appset again???
    I need help.
    Best regards.
    Pablo Mortera.

    Hello,
On the second cluster node, you have only to install the software, nothing related to the appset. If you alreay run the migration stepts for the appset, all the information are into daatbase and file server.
However, the normal behaviour is to make the installation on the both nodes, make the basic tests to validate the installation and then proceed with the appset migration.

  • SAP BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.0 upgrade, problem CPMBPC_800

    Hello,
We are currently upgrading BPC 7.5 to BPC 10.0. We want to do an upgrade of our existing BPC 7.5, and not an 'clean' installation of BPC 10.0.
Right now we are having some issues with the´basis part of the upgrade.
We have installed the POASBC 100_730 SP01 (POASBC ABAP component) with no problems
and now we want to install the EPM content in the download package 51040691 (Server components).
In the download package 51040691 - there are two folders 'upgrade' and 'installation'
The files have been uploaded into SAP BW 7.3 and the problem now is in 'saint' - we can see the CPMBPC_800 package, but the type is 'INSTALLATION' and there is not an option to choose 'UPGRADE'
Is 'INSTALLATION' the same as a clean installation - or will the package detect the existing SAP BPC 7.5 and do upgrade instead of an installation ?
    All help is appreciated
    Thank you,

    Hello,
we are facing the same issue. Did somebody solve this problem? Is INSTALLTION the same as UPGRADE?

  • Upgrade SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP4 to SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP8

    Hello,
I want to make an Upgrade from SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP4 to SAP BPC 7.5 NW SP8 and i need to know what are the consideration to make that.
Do you have any suggestion, link or information to get this activity?
    Best regards

    Hello,
As far as I know, you don't need to perform all configuration steps from SP04 to SP08 in ABAP tier, but it is good to check if everything is ok.
You can also check upgrade guide available at http://service.sap.com/instguidesEPM-BPC (choose 7.5 version for SAP NetWeaver).
Regarding Apshell: sometimes a few changes are made in the way things work in the backend (logic) and of course, some improvements also. These changes can be reflected in Apshell, so yes, every time you upgrade you must recreate apshell executing UJS_ACTIVATE_CONTENT as described in installation guide (also available at the above link).
If you have any problems during apshell activation in SP08, check this thread: Issues on Activating Apshell on BPC Netweaver 7.5 SP08
It is already available Patch 1 for BPC Client and for BPC .Net server, you should also consider applying it (release note is 1597464).
    Hope it helps!

  • SAP BPC 7.0 - Microsoft Platform - SP Upgrade Question

    Hi Experts,
I was tasked to upgrade the SP of our client's SAP BPC 7.0 -Microsoft Platform System from Release 7.0.116 (SP07) to SP09. Details are below
    Prod System:
    Multi Server : 2 Servers
    Application Server:
    Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Ed SP2 32-Bit
    IIS Web Server
    SAP BPC 7.0 Release 7.0.116
    Database Server:
    Microsoft Windows Server 2003 x64 64-Bit
    MS SQL 2008 64-Bit
My question, since Server Manager Version 7.0.116 is equal to SP07, do i need to download SP08 and SP09, and then apply SP08, and the underlying patch on top of SP08, then SP09, or can i just simply download only SP09 and then install it only in our App Server, since it was mention in the Upgrade Guide that SP of SAP BPC are cumulative. And if there are any configuration settings that i need to take unto consideration? I'm new to this one since I'm accustomed of SP Upgrade in SAP ECC Systems in TxCode SPAM.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
After performing the steps Nilanjan suggested you may want to look at the Post-Installation Steps recommended by SAP. They are as below:
    Post-Installation Steps
    1. If you already have an application set in your previous version, do the following:
    a) After installing this support package, update existing reports by choosing Publish Report on the Web Administration page.
    b) If you have already enabled Insight, update existing reports by choosing Build Report on the Insight Dashboard page.
    c) To apply fixes available for business rules, choose Modify Application within the Administration Console. Do not select options related to desired application.
    2. This support package contains an appset parameter called RETRIEVE_ON_OFFLINE. To restrict data retrieval while an application set is unavailable, access the Appset Parameter page within Web Administration, then add a key named RETRIEVE_ON_OFFLINE with one of the following values:
1, which allows retrieval or data export while the application set is unavailable.
0, which prevents retrieval or data export while the application set is unavailable.
Log off and then logon to BPC for Office if the system offline message displays after setting the application set to Available. This downloads the dimension cache file if a dimension member or structure has changed while the system was offline.
    3. We recommend changing the syntax of dimension formulas related to CSS message [IM 1249006] Data Integrity Issue with Account dimension / 4 Hierarchies as follows:
    a) Use [%dimension%].[%current hierarchy%].CurrentMember. Level.Ordinal>0 instead of [%dimension%].[%the other hierarchy%].[All %dimension%.%the other hierarchy%] in dimension formulas to check the status of the current view of the current hierarchy because the current member may have been changed as a member of another hierarchy within multiple hierarchy dimensions.
    b) Use 0 (zero) instead of NULL in IIF statements when the member from the current view does not match the condition of the IIF statement, as NULL may return an incorrect value. For example, if the hierarchy is the third hierarchy, #iif([Account].[H3].CurrentMember.Level.Ordinal>0,%Arg%, 0).
    4. To run the Management Console in multiple server environments, change Authentication and Access Control of the ManagementConsole virtual directory in IIS from Integrated Windows Authentication to Basic Authentication. You can find the virtual directory on the Application server in the Directory Security tab of the virtual directory's property in IIS.
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP upgrade methodology

    Hi,
We are planning to upgrade our SAP 4.6 R/3 system to ECC 6.0.
    The system landscape is:
    DEV -
    > QA (Quality)  -
    > PRD (Production)
I would like to know which is the best approach to follow to upgrade all the 3 systems. Should we first upgrade the DEV system, then move the transports to QA and then subsequently to PRD????
    Any guidance is really appreciated.

  • Error when creating a business activity in SAP BPC 10.1

    Hi Experts,
I am failing to save a new business activity in SAP BPC 10.1 when setting up a new business process flow. I can validate the the activity successfully, however when I try to save the activity i receive the following message " Saving the workspace failed because of a missing root folder; contact your system administrator"
Please can anyone help me with why I am receiving this message?
    Thanks so much

    Hi Kudzai,
The error you're getting in BPC 10.1 is because the environments were migrated from BPC 10.0 or older version using transaction UJBR and it was not migrated to 10.1 after the restore.
SAP Note 2052538 provides resolution for this. Please follow the instructions of Upgrade Guide for BPC NW 10.1:
Execute migration program UJT_MIGRATE_100_TO_101 to migrate 10.0 data to 10.1 if the restored environment was backed up from a BPC NW 10.0 system
Execute migration program UJT_MIGRATE_75_TO_101 to migrate 7.5 data to 10.1 if the restored environment was backed up from a BPC NW 7.5 system
    Thanks

  • MDX Statement error in sap bpc 10.1 admin when opening a report

I have restored a previously created environment that was built on the sap bpc 10.1 platform and am receiving the following errors when accessing my reports and clicking refresh.  I also received an error when restoring the environment that says "Error occurred in expanding member formula".  I don't believe these would be related but I am unable to access the member formulas in the model.  I am however able to access all dimensions, etc.  I am not able to create any new reports though.  Any ideas on a solution.

    Hi Kudzai,
The error you're getting in BPC 10.1 is because the environments were migrated from BPC 10.0 or older version using transaction UJBR and it was not migrated to 10.1 after the restore.
    Thanks

  • Installing SAP BPC 7.0 FOR MICROSOFT on VM (60 GB) Disk Space- Test

    All,
We are on SAP BPC 5.0 Sp10 and we are planning to upgrade SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft in next year. We have one VM server which has 60 GB Disk. We are wondering that can we install SAP BPC 7.0 on it.
As per SAP installation guide , it is clearly mentioned that we should have 200GB Space to install it. Installation guide talks about real time system since we are building up a test system for a small team which consists of only 6 people.
Any body have installed SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft this way  or Can any body verify it will installed and work successfully ?
Also share, what is the minimum disk space requirement to install SAP BPC 7.0 Microsoft.
    Thanks,
    Saquib Khan

    SAquib,
Not sure where you are getting the 200 gig requirements, but on the Microsoft install guide, it states less than that.  See section 3 of the install guide (check on your server requirements).  I have attached the link for your convenience.
    https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/011000358700000552952009E/SAP_BPC_70_SP04_M_Install.pdf
As for minimum, I am not sure any qualified installer will quote you a number without going through all of the requirements..  Typically, they would assess the requirements and then come up with a "recommended" space amount and number of servers.  This would factor into number of users, number of applications/appsets, data volume, page caching, planning or consolidations (or both), etc.
After sitting through a few 7.0 Microsoft installations, I think 60 gigs VM should be more than sufficient to be installed for "testing" purpose.  As stated above, some folks have been use single server 20 gig vm partition for their "sandbox".  Keep in mind that the performance will be a little bit slower than install on actual server so any bench mark that you're trying to assess may be a little bit off.  In addition, when upgrading from 5.1 to 7.0M make sure to add the property "ISBEGINNING" with value of 10 to the Time Dimension.
As for deciding whether to go with NW or MS, I think the deciding factor would be data volume, and number dimensions that you would need to maintain on your appset, and desire to have integration with SAP components.

  • Differences: Outlooksoft 4.x Vs. SAP BPC 7.0 MS

    Hello,
I need urgently the following information:
    - What were the specifications of version 4 of OutlookSoft?
    - What are the improvements and differences involved in SAP BPC 7.0 MS compared to OutlookSoft 4 in all possible areas (security, architecture, reports, etc.)?
    Best regards,
    Miguel.

    Miguel,
You may need to ask this question to SAP sales person because there are a lot of change in architecture, functions and platforms.
Here is the main reason why user have to upgrade.
4.2 only support SQL2000 and Microsoft will not support it any more.
In addition, SQL2000 could not support X64 DB server.
I hope it will help you but you can get the detail information from SAP sales team.
    Thank you
    James Lim.

  • SAP BPC 7.0 MS and Internet Explorer 8

    Hello experts!!
Our company is considering 'upgrading' the Internet Explorer version from IE7 to IE8, and they have asked us if there will be some problems related with SAP BPC 7.0 MS.
We have search for informations in the forums and in the OSS Notes and there is one note 1391866, that doesn't recomend the use of IE 8.
Is there any Service Pack of BPC that solves that issue? Is possible to use SAP BPC 7.0 MS over IE 8?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
The use of IE8 for BPC 7 version is supported as of Service Pack 8 (see the PAM: https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/pam and type "Planning and Consolidation" in the search field).
Additionnaly, if you decide to install SP8 for 7.0, you should also install the mandatory patch 1. It's a mandatory one because of incorrect results being retrieved in reports while using EVGET function in a multi-hierarchy dimension.
So first, upgrade to SP8 flat version, and then upgrade again to patch1 for SP8:
    Related Notes:
    SP8 --> 1490544
    SP8 patch1 --> 1519186
    Hope this answers your question.

    Hi Krishna,
As you are not upgrading your version but you are migrating from one BPC platform to the other, you need to follow all the rules of installing fresh SAP BPC version. As you have not specified from which version you are migrating and to which version, you can refer to the following link for installations and upgrades (You need to login using your S-user ID):

  • Migration to SAP BPC 7 SP 9

Can I migrate to SAP BPC 7 SP 9 directly from SAP BPC 7  SP 7 ?
    May be a silly doubt..
    Advance Thanks for the answers..
    Regards,
    Saravana Prabhu

The only issue with going from SP7 to SP9 is, starting with SP8, they changed the authentication method for the Excel Client so your current clients will not auto-upgrade even if you have that option selected in Server Manager. You will have to manually reinstall the clients to SP9. Going forward, any new SPs will allow for auto-upgrade of the clients once again.
And just for your information, SP10 is the most current Service Pack for BPC 7.0 SP11 will be available May 11th as well.
