SAP BW Business Content and R/3 Tables

Good morning
I wonder if you can help me.
I am at a BW-MM implementation.
From where I can get a list of Business Content extractors and tables which is supplied by R / 3.
For example:
0EC_PCA_1 -> GLPCT
I need this information to implement the MM module in BW, but if you have or can help with additional information from other modules I will be grateful.
I await your help and thank you very much!
Javier.-

Hi,
Check the BI content.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/37/5fb13cd0500255e10000000a114084/content.htm
Go to the original page from there by clicking the arrow buttons.
There you can see your functional areas.
For example, to find 0EC_PCA_1, you will go to Financials--> Profit Center Accounting > Datasources> PCA transaction data.
For MM, go to Supply Chain Mgmt --> Supply Chain Performance Management --> Procurement
Here you can find what tables the extractor is based on.

  • Installation of Business content  and activation

    Hello,
Our Source system is ECC 6.0 and
    BW :NW2004 S and SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 .
We are able to create source system conection successfully . after installing the business content and replication, all the data souces in BW are still in Version D only. Do i need to select each DS individually to activate ?  or am i missing any steps ?
Any help is highly appreciated ?
    Regards

    Hi,
I was also passed this latest information from my colleagues in Product Management.
The method I explained is the old method for activating DataSources and extractors. It is still valid in SAP NetWeaver 2004s but there is a new, and easier, methid to do this now.
Also if you have followed my instructions, there is an additional change in the replication process and a decision you must make:
<i>"Once the customer has activated the DataSource via rsa5 in source system, then he/she needs to replicate this datasource to BI. During the replication, he/she is asked via pop-up whether he would like to replicate these datasources as 3.X DataSource or 7.0.x DataSource.
If he decides to replicate these datasources as 7.0.x DataSources, then the A version of this datasource will be seen in table RSDS, instead of the original table RSOLTPSOURCE.
So if the customer checked table RSOLTPSOURCE, then he/she only see the D version.
This could be the reason that customer still only see D version after the datasource replication."</i>
    The new method is:
<i><b>"- If you have a 3.X datasource, during the source system connection, the D
version of DataSource is already replicated into BI.
    - With transaction RSOR in BI, you need to select the related transfer rule, and via transfer rule you are able to collect the 3.X DataSource.
    - Then you need to push 'install' button to activate this datasource.
    - After activation, the A version of DataSource will be available in BI and in Source system.
    - If you have a 7.0.x DataSource, the steps are the same like 3.X datasource. But via transaction RSOR you are able to directly select this datasource (object type RSDS).
So with BI capabilities of NetWeaver2004s technology, it's no longer nessary to run rsa5 in the source system to activate the datasource."</b></i>
    I hope this helps,
    Mike.

  • Changes In Business Content and Extractors after r/3 upgrade

    Hi All,
We are in the process of upgrading from R/3 4.0b to ECC 6.0.
with the BW system bein upgraded to BI 7.0
    Question.
What changes would occur for the business content and extractors after the R/3 upgrade.
    Thanks in advace.
    Regards,
    Nikhil.S

    Hi Nikhil
The datasources remain same, U can migrate them in BI side from 3.5 to 7.0 using RSDS -tcode.
All extractors remains same, Well it again depends on the service packs u r using.
Now the latest for BI is service pack 17 and for Business content patch is Patch 10.
U can find new datasources like 0FI_GL_14 and 0FI_GL_40 and many other queries.
    In BI side
1.If you have update rules you will have to create transformations and there is no shortcut here ..if there are routines you will have to write them as well and change the syntax as some of the old syntax of 3.x is no more valid in BI 7.
2.Data loading concept changes as you can bypass the Infosource(but in few places you will need it actually like when you are directly loading from datasource to target and you want to read master data).
3.DTPs will be required..changes in the Process chains for the same.
4.Datasources need migration(first emulate them and test whether the Bi 7 loaidng is working or not otherwise if you migrate you will loose your transfer rule.
    Reward if helped
    thanks

  • BUSINESS CONTENT AND LO EXTRACTION

    Hi ,
    Please tell me
    1) what is the main difference between BI content and LO extraction.
    2) What happens when we install business content and what happens when we do LO extraction.why are we doing this extraction.?
    3) Which process must be done first.
and LO is for logistics extraction i.e. SD,MM etc.(please correct if i am wrong)
    4) what about extraction with respect to finance is there anything like LO extraction for finance also?
    please explain in simple english.
    regards
    lap.

    well,
I think you don't have to care too much about what did the R/3 consultant; of course what they have configured will be reflected in BW. The configuration impacts on how the data is populated and if your business objects are populated in R/3. It may or may not fit with the business requirement and sometimes it gets complicated to represent the data in BW.
But that's why we have the business content.
So you activate BC objects you need to report on in BW. LO datasources and extractors will be part of this activation. Then you connect both systems and extract this data. You'll have to check with your business req if your extraction reflects the R3 data as wanted by definition.
I a fresh server, you will then just customize and implement all the workbench necessary (IObjs, Cubes, ODS, transformations....). if your system is empty then you won't data to check! But you'll move your developpment to a BW QA or PROD sys which will be connected to a client in R3 having data (otherwise your SD consultants wouldn't be able to test either...)
Replication: when a DataSource has been changed in the source system (R3), the BW receiving structure has to be adjusted. this is done via the replication procedure.
The source system keeps a timestamp of when the DataSource has been reactivated the last time. BW has also this timestamp in its DataSource. When you change your DS in R3, the timestamp will be updated. If you request now data in BW from this DS, the system will complain because both DS (in BW and in R3) have different timestamps. That's why you have to replicate prior loading.
The replication may inactivate follow up objects like extract structure, transfer structure and TRules.
    hope that helps...
    Olivier.

  • Accounts Payable Line Item Extraction to BW from SAP using Business Content

    Hi,
I have to set up the AP Line Item extraction into BW using the Standard Business Content.
Could someone please gide me through the process for doing it ( Step-by-Step if possible), both from the SAP R/3 side and the BW side.
    Any help deeply appreciated.
    Regards

goto rsa5 in R/3  -- select 0FI_AP_4 and click install...if you goto RSA6 and see this datasource there then it means it is installed..
now come to B/W ...goto source system...right click on source system and replicate datasource...
on the left side you would..modeling...transport organizer etc... goto business content tab...
goto grouping and it should be set at 'Only necessary objects'.
click on object type on the left side...and it will see..goto Infocube ...select the one which i mentioned below..select it and drag to the right side..similarly do this for ODS, infosource, UR, TR...and click install you should be set...

  • SAP NW BRM (java) and ABAP Customizing Tables

    Hi,
A lot of "rules" of standard SAP (ERP for example) is traditionally located in Customizing Tables. What is the nicest way to integrate those "rules" with NW BRM without creating double maintenance, or UI disconnects (where the user has 2 apps open, BRM-UI (NWDS) and SAPgui)?

Arti, this was quite an open question, I'm aware. Thanks for replying though.
We would like to offer Business Users (probably BPXs) the ability to modify rules. For example, approval amount for PO.
BRM seems the most likely candidate in this respect, especially since we use BPM heavily. But of course we use ERP  functionality (with its customizing) as well.
We see an overlap in BRM decision tables and ERP Customizing Tables ("steering" tables, also Masterdata, non-transportable data). A lot of decisions / checks require the same data, but we don't want to maintain this both in ERP and BRM.
    Any ideas on this?

  • Business Content and Metadata Repository

    Hi
Can any one point me to the right place or if any one know any thing please through some tips on this
What are the benefits of using Business Content?
What is the importance of Metadata repository?
    Thanks
    Farooq

    Hi Syed Farooq,
Business Content is a pre-configured set of information models based on consistent metadata in the SAP BW.
BI Content makes the supply of information available to those roles in an enterprise that require this information to complete their tasks.
BI Content consists of roles, workbooks, queries, InfoProviders, InfoObjects, InfoSources, transformation rules and extractors for SAP systems and any additional applications that have been selected.
There are lot Adv like BW implemention is accrelarated and so on check the link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/3d/5fb13cd0500255e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
here are some of the load erros which were already discussed in forums..pls go thru them...
    Business Content :
SAP Business Information Warehouse delivers pre-configured objects under the collective term “Business Content”. These objects speed up the implementation of the SAP Business Information Warehouse because they deliver complete solutions for business information requests.
    Business Content includes:
    · R/3 extractor programs
    · DataSources
    · Process chains
    · InfoObjects
    · InfoSources
    · Data targets (InfoCubes and ODS objects)
    · Variables
    · Data mining models
    · Queries
    · Workbooks
    · Crystal Reports
    · Web templates
    · Roles
Since Business Content are Predelivered we use them , It can reduce considerable amount of time which will be needed if you going for a generic extarction
    Hope it helps.

  • Does sap BI business content comes with transformation for standards

Hai Can anybody tell me whether SAP BI 7 business content
comes with fully loaded transformations with all routines in place like our 3x update rules.
For ex when i load 0hr_pa_0 and 0hr_pa_1 in 3x iam getting the routine with code in place for business contents when i migrate iam unable to trace the transformations in Business content can somebody help or is it we have to do the coding stuff for age calculation, age range etc in transformations
    Plz explain.
    Goodday.

Yes i figured out that myself anyhow have you worked on Hr business transformations how to go about the logic with standard in mind.
    Goodday.

  • BI 7 Authorizations: Business Content and usage of which Objects?

    Good day
I am busy with the BI 7 Analysis Authorizations concept. I have gone through SDN as well as other sites and obtained numerous guidelines for applying these authorizations. I will not be utilising the migration tool as I will be creating the new analysis authorisations from scratch.
I have replicated the datasources in the myself system.
In ALL documentation it is stated that business content must be activated for objects u20180TCAu2019 and u20180TCTu2019, which I have a problem with.
I do not have a problem with the related InfoObjects and activation.
What I have seen from the metadata repository is:
    InfoCubes
u20180TCA_HIEu2019, u20180TCA_UAu2019 and u20180TCA_VALu2019 (These are all cubes without datasources, transfer rules, TRF or DTP etc)
    DSOu2019s
u20180TCA_DS01u2019 to *DS05u2019u2026. (These are all templates without datasources, transfer rules, TRF or DTP etc)
Also DSOu2019s u2018ZTA_DS01u2019 and u2018ZTA_DS02u2019, not part of the 0TCA* and 0TCT* selection. Are these two necessary?
    My question(s) are:
    1)     What I want to know is how many DSOu2019s and Infocubes must be activated to ensure complete installation?
    2)     Why do the Cubes and template DSOu2019s (0TCA* and 0TCT*,) not display any datasources, TRF, transfer rules or DTPu2019s at all?
    3)     Why are DSOu2019s u2018ZTA_DS01u2019 and u2018ZTA_DS01u2019 involved if no-one has ever mentioned them?
Please assist. I am very confused at this stage!
    Thanks in advance
    Cj

  • Business Content and Data Sources automatic binding

    Hi,
I am not clear about the Data Sources and Business Content sync.
If I transfer the datasources in SBIW(RSA5)  and replicate in BW, how it will automatically bind to the infosources and data targets when we activate the relevant infoobjects in BW Business content. As part of Business content activation, will it search for datasources and bind to it automatically? What steps are needed in order to make the everything hooked up correctly?
Can anyone clarify to me how it works? Please explain step-by-step.
    Thanks.

Is there any addiotional things we need to do at info source level after activating the content? Selecting the correct data source etc.
If there is a enhancement to the extraction structure then what all steps manually  we need to do at info source level? When we replicate the data source which has been enhanced, will it create the infoobjects automatically so that they can be used in infosource communication structure?
As I am new to the system, I am running in to all these questions.
Appreciate any help in step by step how things will work.
    Thanks.

  • Installing Business Content and Merge - Overwrites InfoSource - Very Urgent

    Hi Gurus,
I was installing Business Content for a Cube with the grouping Data flow before using Merge/Copy option in DEV.
The cube got activated  and all the objects associated with it. What I didn't realize was that the InfoSource used for the DSO of the cube was also used by a custom DSO which has already been deployed in QA.
So the transfer rules were only partially maintained and the content InfoSource merged with the active one. The DataSource for the custom DSO is from QA (a different R/3 from DEV R/3). The issue is that the custom DSO in QA is now linked to the installed (new) InfoSource belonging to the DataSource of the DEV R/3.
    Please kindly guide on:
    1. How to change the InfoSource for the custom DSO from the currently installed one to the original one? Can I deactivate the update rules and create new InfoSource and transfer rules for the custom DSO and transport it again to QA?
    2. What are the implications this might have on the newly installed DSO & Cube?
All answers will be suitably rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Swetha

    Hi Swetha,
I am not too sure, if i understood ur problem correctly but,
If your BI QAS system is still good.. that means ur custom DSO is still linked to old version of Infosource in BI QAS.
The talk to ur BASIS guys and ask them to transport the Insource/Transfer Structure from BI QAS system to BI Dev system.
This can be done by creating a transport in BI QAS system, the type of transport should be Transport of Copies.
and also before importing this Trasnport from BI QAS in BI Dev System maintain an entry in BI Dev system  RSA1>Tools>Conversion of Logical System names and put an entry as Source = ur BI QAS Logical System Name and target as ur BI Dev Logical System name.
    Cheers
    CK
