SAP BW consultant responsibilities
Can any body pls explain the responsibilities given below
1.Maintaining system availability
2.Providing system expertise to users
Thanks in advance
Hi,
As a SAP BW Consultant, you are the link between the customer and the technology. The customer will perceive you as an experienced consultant in the field of management information who speaks his language.
This enables you to formulate an appropriate BI strategy or solution and initiate new projects together with the client. You are the translation layer between the customer's wishes and SAP.
You work in several fields such as multidimensional modelling, ETL, Query design, team and project management or functional operation. You have a clear vision and can convey it in a convincing and attractive manner. In addition, you are working hands-on with SAP BW and use the most innovative and efficient SAP solutions.
You contribute actively to knowledge development in your specialist field.

Can anyone send me the Responsibilities of a SAP-BW Consultant ?
hi SAP-BW Gurus,
Can anyone send me the Responsibilities of a SAP-BW Consultant ?
I am sending this question because i am fresher and i don't know the responsibilities of a BW Consultant ?
Pls send me the Ans to My EmailId : [email protected]
thanks inadvance,
Regards,
Rajuhi,
Check below link
http://sap-img.com/business/difference-between-bw-technical-and-functional.htm
If you work on a specific Application area in BW like say FI, MM, PP , etc. you are a BW functional. They rather look for the functionality and not for the underlying code.
But if you are working across application areas then you are BW technical. They are the ones who do all the development like creating BW objects and activating them, developing BW objects according to the design specs(FS and TS),data modeling skills,ABAP coding skills for routines and exits.Sort of skills required by person working in development phase of work
Generally BW Technical people are expected to have some basic functional knowledge. But if they really have very good functional knowledge in atleast one application area then they are generally called "Techno-functional Consultants".
Their work includes to look into Functioanlity and also desing and development of the BW objects.
Hope it helps... -

When you test every single document is called unit testing.
String Testing
One transaction full activity is called string testing . For example Vendor invoice, goods received and vendor payment.
Integration Testing
It is purely with other modules and we have to check whether the FI testing is working with other related modules or not.
Regression Testing
Testing for whole database. Bring all the data into another server and do the testing is called regression.
UAT
When we test any particular document with the user and if it is ok immediately we have to take the signature on the document, which is signed off and can be forwarded to the immediate boss. There are some steps to be followed when we go for user acceptance testing.

TPR (Transaction Problem Reporting)
While doing the user acceptance testing if we get any problems then there are some methodologies to be followed according to the companyu2019s policy and normally as a tester we always need to write on Test Script itself.

Questions WORKFLOW OF SAP BW Consultant in Project
Hellooooooo Exeperts,
Need few answers in understanding the SAP BW Workflow in a Company..Any ANswers to the questions would be highly appreciated as this would help me in making it easier before joining my job..
Please answer the below questions concering an OFFSHORE
BW Consultant working for Imlementation Project..Bcoz thats where i would be standing
1) what exactly are the responsibilities of an SAP BW Consultant in implementation Project?
how does they differ from development project?
2) how will be the work flow right from creation of the project specs (both technicaland functional) to the go-live implementation, how does the peolpe at various hierarchy levels fit in this scenario? like who creates the specs, wher do they send it, who is responsile to verify them? from which point SAP BW Consultant is involved in project, whom should he report to? this kind of work flow..( Related to OFFSHORE DEVELOPMENT CENTER)
3) What r the responsibilities of onshore and offshore people in an implenentation project, what do u mean by a client steering committee, how r they seperate from the rest of the people in the project?
4) How would a technical spec look like any screen shots?......how do they come to u in a soft
or hard copy?....Whom do u approach in case of any clarifictions?....can you specify how the
offshore development centre hierarchy is defined who r the people involved here?
5)Wher will an implementation BW Consultant work in real time( Dev, Prod, or sand box)servers.
after creating the objects needed we transort to QA, how will be the work flow related to
transportation of objects and work flow of handling transport request errors when they arise?
like who reports the errors to whom? this ort of flow..
6) whats the duration of work in DATA Modelling part of the project, how much time does it
take to model objects like cubes, ODS etc by customizing Business Content to satisfy
business requirement?...
7) How often do we interatct with the client or any onsite consultants?
8) what exactly are the roles and resonsibilities of functional, technical people in SAP implementation project?
9) Does LO's and LIS Differentiate Master and Transaction Data in the extraction Process?>I am interested to find out , what all could be the roles of a PI consultant in a given SAP implementation barring the usual Interface design and implementation. ?
Some knowledge in basis and PI admin is an added plus as I have found from experience that basis is not quite sure of how to solve PI basis issues and many a time comes back to the consultant for help/clarification.
Roles would obviously depend on the project scope but in general we can put them as design, develeopment, testing, some basis/admin roles, scope determination as to where we need to use PI etc.
>In an average, how much of Functional knowledge , a PI consultant would require to have to be successful in an END-END implementation???
Some functional knowledge will always be an added plus but considering that a PI consultant might need to work with different areas, so knowledge in all such areas is definitely not possible.
>What other skills are expectant out of a PI consultant to make him stand apart?
some basic java knowledge (string handling, java beans), Abap knowledge plus knowledge in the SOAP protocol, xml/xsd handling, SOA is sometimes required. -
Difference between Business Analyst SAP SD and SAP SD consultant
Hi friends
I need openion about what is difference between Business Analyst SAP SD and SAP SD consultant.
RajBoth the roles are more likely the same, In consulting companies like IBM, Deloitte , TCS and others SAP functional anlayst is a more popular term but if you work directly with a SAP client - SAP Business Analyst is what they refer to a functional anlayst. Most of the responsibilities are same but they are some roles which require more of ANALYST person who can gather requirements, GAP Analysis, IS - TO BE and etc and less of configuration or customization in SAP therefore they sometimes call it SAP Business Analyst but in both cases the configuration knowledge and experience about specific modules is required.
Thanks -

What are the Essentials for a Sap Security Consultant.
Hi Gurus,
I have completed a Implementation in which I alone handled the entire Security . It is a defense client .
Now I am technically expert at security. But I have no functional knowledge.
Implementing Security in SAP one needs to have knowledge of funtional process as well. The course that are purely technical stuff and I have good idea of techincal stuff.
The Question is what is a Sap Security Consultant expected to know . And how to go about acquiring that knowledge?Hi Hussain,
There is a little bit of release-dependent-everything in this thread: Authorization for VAP2 in conflict with VD02 for F_KNA1_GRP
Try solve it and you will understand that you need the requirements (without that you are anyway doomed) and the knowledge and the appropriate access to create / test it.
BAPI's are remote enabled stable interfaces to SAP standard functionality. They are the best examples of combining functional, technical and standard skills in a sustainable way without creating a mess (a mess, way beyond the bounds of your concerns...).
If you learn to use the available tools and information sources, then you dont need to stress about the essentials, even if your customer makes a design error before or after your advice.
Cheers,

Pro's and cons of becoming SAP functional consultant
Dear All,
I am shifting towards SAP functional consulting job. I want to know the Pro's and con's of SAP functional consultant job.You can unload a lot of work on the technical consultant / developer and let him join the logical dots of what you're trying to design, and you get paid 50% more on top, now how's that?
All you need to do is look business and talk business.
Thomas
P.S. wait, I'm a technical consultant, arrrgh... -
I am a SAP Netweaver Consultant , want to know from all the SAP Experts out here that according to you which are the highest paying modules in SAP ? rank them.
Hi S. Vishwam.
Many peoples says that BI , APO , BW and HANA are the highest paying modules.
But with the passage of time the value of the professional decreases because many people go work with this modules then ...supply and demand = decreases.
Only the people that really knows continue making lots of moneyand the characteristic of these people are the same:
They always read the SDN community of his modules.
They really study the sap help.
They do not want to make lots of money early on.
Hope helped you. -
Career as SAP analyst/consultant
Hi,
I am exploring the option to build my carrier in SAP analyst/consultant field.
I have more than 5 years of experience of sales and business management in automotive industry. At the same time I have worked on or used SAP as a business user for these 5 years.
I am quiet conversant with the business process, material movement, orders/approval flows etc.
I have the desire and will but I am looking for some answers to convenience myself that it will be a good decision to move in this direction financially and in terms of career growth also. It would be a big help if you could answer the questions below, before I make my final decision. I would request you SAP Gurus to please guide me.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Rather than an instinctive one, I want to make a well thought over, planned and fairly well estimated decision. I am looking forward to your valuable answers.
ThanksI am trying to reply all the bullets in your post one by one.
Some of the agencies (AtoS and some others) I have got in touch with to discuss this certification have suggested doing SAP SD or MM certification, keeping my experience in view. If I do it what is your guess how soon I could find a job with this certification.
for training and certification you can go to any SAP authorized institute , you can find many depends upon which country you are presently staying.
What kind of salary will I be able to attract if I do get a job. Currently I am getting good salary by auto industry standards (around $15K). As per the information I have got the starting salaries in these roles are some times less than half of what I am getting now.
if you are already at $15K (1,50,000 US Dollar if i correctly understand) then you are earning much higer then a SAP consultant having a decade experience in SAP. Better look for management job. If salary is the criteria.
Finally how fast is the growth in this industry? Let us say I do the certification spend some $500 and join a company with salary less than half of my current. After doing this, as per your experience how soon will I be able to reach or exceed the salary I would have been getting otherwise (assume I perform fairly well in my SAP role ;-).
refer the above one
So finally should I go ahead with the certification?
Certification is optional , if you just have user level experience you may not be knowing all what comes within an module, i still recommend training as it give you all back ground about SAP and you can understand most of the master data piece to create a right foundation for a module.
Hope this will help you.
Thanks

Hi friends, can any halp me to know SAP-ISU consultant details,
what are all things i have in that SAP-ISU, whether it's having any programming part like ABAP,Hi ARUNKUMAR´,
gas, water, elelctricity:
All a mass business: Big numbers of customers, much bigger numbers of document items.
Main focus is on (sub-module) FI-CA AKA RMCA, means contract acounting. Here you have an interesting kind of userexits: There are hundreds of pre-defined (and well documented) events. You can assign own FUNCTIONS to the events to enrich, change or check data.
Billing, dunning and payment procedures processed in parralel; quite complex organization of the parrallel processing transactions.
Alvaro is talking of the PRINT WORKBENCH which integrates the (SAPSCRIPT) forms handling and programming, but you can do a lot more with it.
Also important/interesting is the customer master data organized using the SAP BUSINESS PARTNER model.
This is ISU in short.
Note: The main functions of IS-U are also used in Telecommunications (IS-T) and Media (IS-M).

SAP- SD Consultant Job Opportunities
Dear Experts,
Myself Daniel. I have done BE (e & c) and also MBA ( marketing & systems). Currently, I am having 2 years experience in Sales Industry ( FMCG ). Thats one of the best FMCG Companies in the World. Now 2 years of Domain experience is not much i know, but, i believe i have have acquired a thorough knowledge in Sales. Now, i want to move on to SAP. My seniors are telling me to go for SD Module. I am thinking of admission in an authorized SAP training institute. People at the institute said that SD Module suits me best, but i want to know from you experts. Please guide me. They( the institute people) say that SD Module is the most demanding in terms of job opportunities. But having gone through different threads here its contradicting. The authorized SAP training institute guys are saying that they will also ASSIST me in getting a job but they cant GUARANTEE it. fare enough. But i want to know about the current job opportunities as a Certified SAP SD Consultant in todays market from experts.
Please help me in this, i would be grateful.
Thanks,
DanyHi Daniel,
All your points are valid, but unfortunately that's the state of affairs as of now. Getting an SAP Certification is equivalent to "I have learnt this SAP course from this Authorized Training Center". And that's the end of it.
Not many companies will hire you just because you have an SAP Certification. Coupled with the fact that getting an SAP Certification is quite an expensive affair (at least in India - I don't know where you are from...) the entire idea is a joke IMO.
And from the looks of it, it doesn't look like SAP is going to change this trend any time soon. Before jumping into the Certification bandwagon, do read some of the agonizing tales of freshers like you, who have done Certification and still looking for a job.
Im not trying to discourage you, but you should know the facts before making a huge investment in terms of time and money so that you can make an informed decision.
Good Luck!

New module for a SAP QM consultant
Is it a wsie decision to learn SAP PS module at this stage. I am a certified SAP QM consultant.
Also I would like to know the scope of learning SAP PLM modules (Like cfolders,DMS,etc).I get confused on which to choose from these small components like these in SAP PLM. Also I find it difficult to get study materials. Could anyone guide me on this, so i can take a right decision.
Is SAP PS also a part of SAP PLM. Can some one put some thoughts on what SAP meant by SAP PLM exactly.
Thanks VVPP and MM are closely integrated with QM module. It is better and easy for a QM consultant to expand his knowledge in any of these module. MM has more opportunities than PP but numbers of MM consultant in the market are much higher.
