SAP BW query authorization

Dear all,
I have a user id in BW and when this person runs a BW report she will get a No authorization error. I tried using SU53 but it doesnu2019t tell me anything useful. Can someone please help me out here? thanks

Hi,
You can use transaction RSUDO where you can execute a report using another user and also check the flag to record the log. As soon as you received the no authorization error message you can simply return using the back (green) button and click in the display logs button.
You are going to see a detailed authorization log where you are going to see why the checks failed.

I'm facin a problem with all my Web intelligence Reports. When i refresh them on demand from view or design mode, everything works fine, but when i schedule them all instances fails with this error:

Hi Ingo,
All the authorizations for crystal report to fetch data is in place, and crystal report refresh and schedule runs success fully. The issue is only in Web Intelligence.
If it is same as crystal report we should see similar results for crystal report, which is not the case as of now. Crystal report refreshes without any error and we can able to schedule it without any problem.
As it is said earlier, SAP secuirty guy doesnt find any missing authorizations. It is very difficult to say which authorization is missing.

BW/query Authorizations

We are implementating BW MM. As a part of planning phase we are trying to find out the authorization needed for Users. Requirement comes from user is to restrict queries at Plant/Sloc/Porg/Pgrp level.
What my understanding about authorization is here
Use Object S_RS_COMP to restrict at infoarea and query level, not very sure how S_RS_COMP1 works (pls explain)
Use RSSM to create customized objects and add above char. This object will later be added to the profile and values will be assigned accordingly.
Now q has asked, how to give user to only run the reports.
1. Is it by giving Bex access and restrict at infocube and query level and then to char level (I think covered above)
2. Use Bex Browser to give link for queries (by running on web copy and paste link in the role)
3. Give authorization for workbook
I am not very familiar with 2 & 3rd option. Pls advise
Is there anything that I missed?

The note 588144 says:
SymptomThis note describes how as BW queries can be entered in roles.
If you are unable to open queries in the BEx Analyzer or the BEx Query Designer using the Open dialog box in the roles view, the problem described below may be occurring in your system.
Similarly, this problem may the reason why short dump XXX appears in the the system log.

The URL on the BW query was probably created manually in role maintenance as follows:
1. Call role maintenance (transaction PFCG)
2. Enter the role and select Role/Change in the menu
3. Selecting the "Menu" tab
4. Click on the "+ Other" switch
5. Select the "SAP BW query URL" field
6. Enter the description in "Text"
7. Enter the URL in "Object Description" (use both input fields if necessary)
Creating the URL using the following steps is also incorrect:
1. Call role maintenance (transaction PFCG)
2. Enter the role and select Role/Change in the menu
3. Select the "Menu" tab
4. Select switch "+ Report"
5. Select selection field "BW Report" (this is only suitable for BW workbooks; see note 570632)

If you create the entry manually, the corresponding entry in table AGR_HIER will not contain any value in the SAP_GUID field.The field SAP_GUID usually contains the query's GENUNIID.The query cannot be opened because of the missing SAP_GUID value.See the section on the correction of manual entries under "Solution" below.

Saving URLs in roles is not supported in BW 2.0B/2.1C.

Creating BW Queries in Roles with the BEx Query Designer
The BEx Query Designer allows you to select a role when you save URLs.

The Open dialog box has two switches - "Enter in Role" and "Add to Favorites", which allow you to enter a BW query in a role.

The BEx Browser allows you to copy BW queries bewteen different roles, within a role and to your favorites using Drag&Drop.
Correcting Incorrect Entries in BW Queries
You can only correct incorrect entries in BW queries with help from SAP.

In Universe Designer I can not build a Universe based on a SAP/BW Query:
-The Universe Items -> Sight -> Universe Window and -> Sight -> Liste Mode are greyed our
- Its simply not possible to move Universe "Objects" = "Classes" into the Table, Join or
Item Plane.
I am useing:
-BO XI 3.1
-BO Solutions for SAP Integration
-Universe Designer
Universe Designer based on a Database is ok
The Connection to the SAP System is stored in BO XI 3.1
What's missing ?
Any Rights/Authorizations are Misseing ?

Hi
when working with OLAP universes (eg. universes based on SAP BW queries) it is not possible to work as you normally do when you have a universe based on a relational data source. The data madel is the one from the OLAP source (cube) so it is not possible to create your on joins, tables etc. In this case you can only add/modify the objects in the object browser (left panel).

PS: The Data Federator will allo you to create relational universes on an SAP BW source. Still this is a product that must be licensed seperately and currently does not support SAP logon ticket-based SSO.

Infoset Query Authorization

Hi guys,
I've created some infoset queries, and assigned those queries to specific user group. My purpose is to let only specific user group (e.g. Accounts User Group, to access only relevant queries)
But later I found out, those users can actually switch to another group (at SQ01 -> Other User Group), and access those queries that they shouldnt be accessing.
May I know if there's any way to prohibit this switch of group? Or is there any authorization that can be set?

By including the InfoSet query in a role, you ensure that the InfoSet query is started with an InfoSet (and a query), and can therefore be easily used for appropriate reporting within the role.
The basis for this is the assignment of user groups to roles, the option of calling the InfoSet query from different roles, and, in doing so, noting the specified context for this role.
You assign user groups and InfoSets with transaction SQ10. You can also create and manage menu entries for the InfoSet query with this transaction.
In order to include the InfoSet query in a role, you have to assign user groups first to the role and subsequently to one or more InfoSets.
Check
Please check administrator authorization for the SAP Query (authorization object S_Query, field ACTVT, value 23).
Check whether the correct work area is set before you reassign user groups. If you call the role administration by using transaction SQ02 (see above), the work area set in transaction SQ02 is transferred.

Prompt List of Values in WebI - SAP BI Variable - SAP BI Query -BI Infoset

We have a Multiprovider built on an Infoset. SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
Multiple-Single Values type Optional Variables are created for some of the Objects of this SAP BI Query.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration kit.
WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompts are created on some of the Universe Objects, for the WebI report.
We are facing a typical problem.
When a WebI prompt is created on one particular object, (which also has a Multiple Single Value type Optional Variable in SAP BI Query), its List of Values is showing up only first three values in WebI. The SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values, for the same object.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in the List of Values & this is the problem.
We tried to keep the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset, Multiprovider = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
Similar objects and similar variables for the same query / webi show all the List of Values.
Any guidance on aspects to be checked would be helpful.

Problem :
If an SAP BI Infoset is used in data modelling, and a restricted key
figure is created in the SAP BI Query; the resultant WebI Object Prompt
for the Info-object, only shows up LOVs which have been used for the
restricted Key Figure. Both the things are not related except for the
fact that some of the values for the same object are used for the
restricted key figure.
Details :
We have a Multiprovider built on an SAP BI Infoset.
SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
There is a restricted key figure in the sap bi query. KeyFigure "Number
of Records" is restricted for 3 of the relevant Info-object "Meter
Reading Status" values.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration
kit. WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompt is created on the Universe Object for Meter Reading Status, in
the WebI report.
List of Values is showing up only the three values in WebI (which were
used in the Restricted Key Figure calculation).
SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer for the same Info-object Meter Reading
Status shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in
the List of Values & this is the problem.
We have kept the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset,
Multiprovider, Query = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
When we delete the "Restricted Key Figure" from the SAP BI Query, the
refreshed Universe and Webi have a complete set of List of Values
applicable.
Steps for Reconstruction
1. Create Infoset
2. Create SAP BI Query on Infoset
3. Create Restricted Key Figure for Number of Records and few of the
values for a characteristic info-object "X".
4. Create BO Universe on SAP BI Query
5. Create Webi on BO Universe
6. Create a Prompt on the characteristic info-object "X".
7. Check List of Values for the characteristic info-object "X" in SAP
BI Query and WebI.
8. LOVs in WebI are equal to the values used for restriction in the
restricted key figure.
9. Delete the restricted key figure from SAP BI Query.
10. Refresh Universe
11. Webi prompt shows all the values for the prompt on "X".

Performance Issue with Webi report uses SAP BI Query as the data source

Hello.
I have created a Webi ad-hoc report which connects to a SAP BI query through BO OLAP universe.
The layout of Webi is the exactly the same as the BI query. There are filters in the Webi to restrict the number of data extraction, but even with data result of 5000 rows, it took about 30 seconds.
If I execute the BI query with the same filter restriction, it tooks less than 10 seconds.
It seems that large percentage of time is consumed at the MDX part.
Is there any tuning method that could speed up the process time of MDX?

It includes references to various performance improvements of the MDX interface. From what I saw there it is advisable to upgrade your SAP BI (7.0) up to at least Support Package 21 (you are currently on SP 15).
This may also be interesting for you: There is a new Fix Pack 1.4 coming out for BOBJ XI 3.1. Combined with the related SAP Enh.Pack (not sure about the version of this one) should also improve WebI performance. This fix pack is not yet officially released though but it should not take look.
I recommend that you try the upgrade to Support Package 21 first.
BTW it is also advisable to take a look in the results of your MDX query (e.g using the MDXTEST transaction). You should make sure that your query is indeed restricted as expected. Sometimes the results you see in SAP native reporting tools (e.g. BEx Analyzer) differ from those returned from the MDX component, depending on the way variables/restrictions where defined in the query designer. It is all about making sure that there is no apples/oranges comparison here.

Error While Run the WebI Report on SAP BW Query

I have build the universe on SAP BW Query . I built the same universe on the SAP BW DEV and SAP BW Test
When I tried to run the WEBI Report on the Universe which is built on the SAP BW Test
WebI Report is prompting for the below values
Calendar Year
Profit Center
Profit Center Hierarchy
Version.
Here I can see the List of values for the Calendar Year and Profit Center. Its giving me below error when I look for list of values for the Profit Center and Profit Center Hierarchy.

1.     Why I am getting this error. Because of authentication or configurations set on the Profit Center and Profit Center Hierarchy objects? If so , please let me know what I need to set?

     Yes, BI Query is working fine in the Test System and I can see all the variables too

Crystal Report Missing SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query Connector

Hi,
I have installed SAP GUI for Windows 7.2 (Compilation 2) and Crystal Report 2008 SP2 then following by installed SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 on my workstation. However, when i launch my Crystal Report designer, it do shows SAP toolbar however when i click on one of the icon (eg: Setting) the entire CR will hung and prompt me error and exit automatically.
Beside that, i could not find any connector for SAP (Eg: SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query and etc) when i create a new blank report by click on the New Connection.
Appreciated anyone know this could assist on this.

I have installed SAP BOXI3.1 SP3 on an LINUX machine (Redhat Enterprise 5) and the server was running fine without connecting to BW or SAP eCIBS.
Now, i have to establish the connectivity to BW (InfoCuve and BW Query) and SAP eCIBS system. As my customer requirement was required to using WEBI, CR and Xcelsius for connecting to BW for getting the data and then using scheduler in BOE for performing report distribution. Some of the report will connecting to SAP eCIBS directly and that will using our Client's machine for creating the report (using CR2008) and then publish to the BOE platform for report scheduling and distribution.
My question, i wish to install SAP Inter Kits and downloaded Inter. Kits for SAP Solution 3.1 SP3 from service market place. When i refer to the document from help.sap.com; there are couple of section but i wish to know which are the perquisite section that i wish to install and configure?
Eg: System Requirement which are installing SAP RFC SDK and SAP JCO SDK into my BOE server, then following my create a logon token. How to to that? It also require to install SAP Java Connector and SAP GUI, does these two available for LINUX OS as well?
The steps in doc was confuse, appreciated your kind help.

Run-Time error '-2147417848 (80010108) in Crystal Report on SAP BW Query

I have installed Crystal Report 2008 SP1 and the Business Objects Integration kit for 3.1 but when I try to create a report on top of an SAP BW query using the toolbar, after entering the logon parameters for SAP BW, I get a error message :
Run-Time error '-2147417848 (80010108)
Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
CR exits after this error message.
I have tried uninstalling the Kit and CR, cleaning up the registry, and installing it again and still got this error message - It is the same for all my SAP BWs.
Anyone ever had this?

Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP3 and SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 installed on my client machine.
I can open SAP BW Query in Crystal Report. However, in the Field Explorer >Database Fields, I dont see to be able to expan the Query and see it Key Figure/Characteristic.
I noticed this happen only if we have Variable defined in the Charactics.
If the characteristic has no variable, then I can expand the Query under Database Fields.
Do you have this problem?

Yes, once I have imported the new SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 transports into BW system, I can now expand the it.
I can now see the Variable in Crystal Report.

Crystal Report and SAP BW Query

I have developed the Crsytal Report (ontop of SAP BW Query), and save this report into my local c:\ drive.
Now I made some changes to the BW Query (this is the Datasource of my Crystal Report) to include new Key Figure and Characteristic via BEx Query Designer.
Now when I open my existing Crystal Report, I dont get see the new key Figure/Characteristics that I just included to the BEx Query. Why? Is this bug? How can we update the Crystal Report automatically when the underline BEx Query has changed?

We have similar case when the underline BEx query has been changed.
In our case, the Variable value is not appear in CR.
Example, a Variable has been created and assigned to the Cost Centre.
In BEx Query, I can see the value of the Cost Centre and can therefore select the value from the Variable field.
In CR, I have the Cost Centre prompt as parameters, but there is no value for me to select.
Database Verify has been performed.
Anyone come across this?

How to remove Decimals in Quantity Objects in SAP BO Explorer View created on top SAP Bex Query?

I created SAP BO Explorer report on top of SAP BEx Query.
In SAP BEx Query, Decimals were hided but when i created OLAP Universe on top that SAP BEx Query and Created Index on top of Information Space in SAP BO Explorer and then created Exploration Views. But i'm getting Decimals in my Exploration Views where as SAP BEx Query in RSRT, no decimals were appearing.
Can anyone suggest me how to remove decimals in SAP BO Exploration Views.

I am not use how you connect to SAP BEx query (Via universe or BWA or HANA)
What I could say is BWA and HANA, you cannot adjust this
For universe, you could try in universe layer, there is note about this
For BWA and HANA, this function might be enhanced but you 'd better raise OSS to SAP to check with them

Unable to use SSO with universe connection on top of SAP BW query

Hi,
We're creating a universe on top of a SAP BW query by using universe designer.
We logon to universe designer by using SAP credential.
When creating the connection, we set the option "Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time" in order to logon to BW server. But when clicking next, an error arises:
"DBD: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data"
The strange thing on this is that there is one laptop which is able to set up this kind of connection, while all other workstations are not able to set it because they recieve that error (we all work against the same BO server). So this looks like an installation issue.
We reinstalled SAP Integration Solutions on those workstations, but problem is still the same.
I found thread: Universe Connection Authentication on SAP BW which talks about the same issue, but solution involves uninstalling Xcelsius. But we do need Xcelsius!
Any suggestions?

Multiple Universes (based on SAP BI Query) & single WebI Report

Hi,
We build OLAP Universes on SAP BI Queries. One of the ways to consume multiple universes in a single WebI report is to "add query" from another universe into the same WebI page / another WebI tab for the report.
Is there a possibility to pick and choose fields from different Universes (based on SAP BI Queries), into a single WebI report ... of course respecting their technical linkage.

Hi Ingo,
We have created multiple subject Area Universes (based on SAP BI Queries). Is there a possibility to select a particular object from one of the Universe and another object from another Universe into the same grid eg. Notification Number from Work Management Universe (SAP BI Query based on Customer Service Data Flow / Multiprovider) and Invoice Number from Invoicing Universe (SAP BI Query based on Invoicing Data Flow / Multiprovider). Common aspects for both of these could be say a Customer Account Number.
As per my understanding, we cannot do this if we have created Universes on SAP BI Queries.
Nearest possible option is to display two tables on the same WebI report - one from Work Mgmt Universe and other from Invoicing Universe.
Please guide.
