  • MiniSAP Use for a Thesis Project

    Hello guys,
I am a pre-graduate student from a university in Perú. I want to make my thesis implementing let's say a new module in SAP: reports, tables, programs, functions, etc.
I just downloaded MiniSAP to see if it was possible to make it run on my computer and if I could develop there properly.
    I have 2 questions.
    1. Is it allowed for me in terms of licence and development to make my thesis project in MiniSAP? It is not for commercial purposes. Do I need to have any special access like user on sapnet or something like that to renew my licence each 90 days for continuing my development ?
    2. My MiniSAP is installed in a VirtualBox instance with windows server 2003. I have a problem. When I connect from Windows server itself through the SAP logon using the IP address that I get through ipconfig in the cmd, I have no problems, but when I try to do the same from the main system ( Windows 7 ) , I can not get the connection. ( Virtualbox is installed in the Windows 7 ). I also get no response when I ping the IP address of the windows server from Windows 7 .

    Hi,
You can renew your license after 90 days, however, I don't know if this is allowed according to license terms. See part 4 in my blog: [HeiDoc.net|http://www.heidoc.net/joomla/en/development/13-sap-and-xslt/6-tutorial-how-to-install-and-use-the-mini-sap-system]
    2. Try disabling the firewall in your VM.

Thanks very much for taking the time to post the info Florian. I will update this thread as well if I run into any new information.
Do we have any idea on SAP's direction for Product Definition? PD is still version 2.0 and I heard that PD functionality will be incorporated into PPM 5.0 which does make a lot of sense. I very briefly went through the notes and config doc in this post and did not get the impression that PPM has any idea and concept management capabilities.

  • RICEF work in SAP Carve-Out Project

    Hello,
I am looking for a high level overview of the RICEF development work involved in an SAP Carve-Out project.
We are installing a new SAP ERP system and intend to carve out the required functionalities from the source system to the target vanilla system. Any ideas on what kind and amount of RICEF work would be involved in such a scenario?
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Tilak,
Although I am not 100% sure, I have not heard specifically of any transport mechanism in SAP HANA.
This can however be achieved by Export and Import functionality available in HANA..which can Export/Import content models, tables etc.. it can be accessed from the Quick Lauch screen.

  • SAP CRM Implementation Project - Phases/Stages

    Hi all
I am very new to this Area !
I would like to know different Phases/Stages in the SAP CRM Implementation Project !
    Regards
    RJ

    Remo,
I believe every SAP CRM Implementation project would follow the ASAP methodology which is as follows:
    Phase1: Project Preparation
The system landscape is set up, consultants are assigned. Project charter is created etc.
    Phase2: Business Blueprint
The implementation consultants do a study of the clients business and learn how the processes/ cycles involved thru discussions, workshops etc
This is documented as an AS-IS document.
The clients business processes are then mapped on to SAP by the consultants.
This is documented as the TO-BE document
Gap Analysis is performed to identify any gaps between the AS-IS and TO-BE documents. i.e. something that the client wants but cannot be met thru SAP CRM. Then enhancements etc come into picture.
    Phase3: Realization
The system is configured as per the TO-BE document. And the client is given for testing.
    Phase4: Preparation for Go-LIve
Once the client confirms all the unit and integration tests, the master data needs to be uploaded. Other system checks by basis and SAP itself are performed.
    Phase5: Go live and support
The project goes live and the consultants give a month's of hypercare or support.
Hope this is wat you were expecting.
    Regards,
    Julius
    P.S: Reward if it helps.

  • I have a thesis project that must involve Flex

Hey guys, I'm trying to think of a useful Flex (possibly AIR deployed) application idea for a thesis project I'm doing in school this year. Problem is we have to have and present our idea prior to having any classes on Flex yet which makes it somewhat hard to think of the possibilities. We've had one intro class and I got to play with it and get a nice idea of it during an internship in England over the summer.
So far I have one decent vague idea and one very very vague ideas and I'm just looking for some insight as to if my ideas are even possible/worth it and any ideas you may have that I could try!
My first idea is to build an 'image gallery builder'. So an app for someone who has no knowledge or experience in web design and wants say an image gallery on their website.
For eg: A hardware store owner has a website and would like customers to able to easily navigate the store’s inventory in an image gallery displaying images of products for sale.
So my app would allow him to use a WYSIWYG interface that allows him to manipulate all the properties of a gallery with some sort of completely dynamic changeable base gallery layout. So with all sorts of visual buttons and such the user can change whatever feature of the gallery they would like. Thumb nail sizes, carousel types, headers, content text, colors, content layout etc. And everything they manipulate they can see a it change on the fly.
A lot of other gallery builders I see out there are very ugly and have very minimal options if you know what I mean.
What do you think? Is this something incredibly hard to do? does it make sense? That's as far as I've thought it with my minimal knowledge in Flex as of now.
My other ideas was do something with Flex and the Google maps SDK/API to create an interactive map to visualize geographically-based data that user can work with sorta thing.....haven't really thought that one much further...
Do you guys have any neat Flex application ideas I can consider?
And of course using Flex I have a good amount of knowledge (for a third year student) in XHTML,CSS,JS,PHP,MySQL,AS3.0

No.  Are you saving the project as a disk image rather than burning directly to disk from iDVD?  If not then that's what I suggest you do.  That will separate the encoding process from the burn process to save time and disks if the encoding is bad.  It also lets you burn a second or third disk without having to encode again.

  • Difference between SAP Reference IMG & Project IMG...

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Can anyone explain me about the difference between
SAP Reference IMG & Project IMG...
    Thanks in advance,
    Praveen.

    Hi !
The SAP Reference IMG contains alle the customizing functionallity of SAP.
Within a Project IMG you can restrict the availible customizing function.
Thinking about having an MM project. When you create an "MM" Project IMG you will only "see" MM relevant customizing functions in your project IMG.
    Regards
    Rainer
Some points would be nice if that helped.

  • Hi i have been surfing internet for some SAP ABAP mini projects

Hi i have been surfing internet for some SAP ABAP mini projects . I am learning SAP ABAP and want to implement the learnt knowledge in creating small project. Can someone suggest small mini project  that a fresher can do, or any websites where i can practise until i get job.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tilak Raja .

Seems like a noble pursuit... There are at least a few "spec dumps" or "do my job" questions (usually start with "my requirements are...") posted in this same forum daily, so if you get to them before the moderators do - there are a bunch of projects for you.
I'm a bit confused about the "web sites" part though - so you don't have an access to some demo/IDES system? How are you planning to do those mini projects then? Unfortunately SAP is not something one could easily practice in isolation - you'll need basic configuration, business data, etc.

  • SAP NetWeaver MDM - Project and Bachelor Thesis

    Hello,
I am a German student of business information systems. I will write my project and bachelor thesis about u201Chow to synchronize and interchange the master data of an existing non-sap portal, with an existing sap erp systemu201D.
Therefore I would like to use the SAP NetWeaver Platform with SAP NetWeaver MDM. The thesis shall consist of two parts. First, the project thesis shall contain the requirements analysis and the specification. The bachelor thesis shall contain the implementation of these systems.
But there is one big problem. Is there any possibility to get SAP NetWeaver for educational propose, e.g. for free or for a free trial? At the download area of the sdn webpage, I found an SAP NetWeaver 7.0 u2013 Java Trial Version. Does this NetWeaver-Version include the Master Data Management Component? Does I need any other SAP-Systems to exchange the Master Data between these two Systems?
    Thanks a lot,
    Christian
Edited by: Christian Beining on Jun 26, 2008 6:28 PM

    Hi Christian,
you can get a trial version of MDM as a SAP customer (in Germany via your SAP software distributor). If you have only access to a SAP university system I don't think you will get access to MDM and XI (at least they don't have it at my university). But of course you can ask your professor or SAP representative maybe they can help you. As far as I know all SAP university systems in Germany are hosted centrally in Munich and I don't think that they also provide such special solutions like MDM.
Doing a similar job in my thesis I can only recommend you to do this project only then if you have definitely access to all needed systems and having some people around with knowledge in additonal needed tools like XI or administration of SAP systems. Doing it all at your own without having SAP knowledge in the important points (system and database administration, software deployment, XI) is not realistic in a 5 month period when you have to build a SAP system landscape on your own in top of your project.
    Hope that helps. BR, bd
