SAP BW with HANA and transaction RSMIGRHANADB

Hi Gurus,
We know that we can use transaction RSMIGRHANADB to migrate one or multiple standard Infocubes to HANA optimized.
I want to knpw that
u2022 When we run it thru u201CMULTIPLEu201D option, does it run serially or parallel?
u2022 If it runs serially, can we trigger another program parallel to trigger alternate set of infoproviders?

Looking at the code, it looks to be serially
If upgrading doesn't interfere with each other, I think it is possible to run multiple background job of this.

Points to know : Movement Types, Assignment of Movement types to T-keys (T-code OMJJ), Value string (I also need some information on this) , OMWN and OMWB transactions.
There is a close integration b/w FI & MM, actually document flows from MM to FI in the following areas such as,
 1. Movement Types:
Used to enable the system to find the predefined posting rules determining how the accounts of financial accounting system are to be posted & to update the stock fields in the matrl master data.(Goods Receipt, Goods Issue, etc)
 2. Valuation Class:
Assignment of material to grp of gl account, used to determine the gl accounts that are updated as a result of goods movement.
3. Transaction/Event key:
Used to control the storage or filing of documents & assignment of documents.Used to differeniate b/w various transactions such as goods movement tht occur in inventory.
 4. Material Type:
Each material should assign mtrl type in mtrl master record used to update whether changes made in qty are updated in material master record & change in value also updated in stock account.
 FI-SD Integration:
The integration is done in T-code VKOA
 1. Sales Order Created
 -No Entry-
2. PGI done (Goods issue)
 Cost of Goods Sold Dr (Configured in OBYC GBB T-Key)
 To Inventory Account
 3. Billing document released to Accounting
 Customer Account Dr.
 To Sales Revenue Account (ERL T-key in Pricing procedure)
Note : The GL account is assigned to this ERL in VKOA
 4. Payment Received
 Bank Clearing A/c Dr
 Customer A/c Cr.
Points to Know : Good to understand the pricing procedure and how the different transaction keys are used like ERL, ERS etc

In sap bw with hana, How exactly the performance is improved ?

By replacing oracle db with hana , are we installing new processors as well. Or is the performance we get is purely because of columnar storage ?

This is a good question. Just replacing the DB or columnar store doesn't help.
If HANA DB is just a data base on memory then everyone can just add more memory for existing DB or columnar store then most DB already offer columnar store ( Like IBM DB2 Blu Accelerator or MS Sql columnar, etc)
It is a combination factor of HANA DB which optimised for both read and write operations along columnar store and data compression. In case of HANA DB sap is trying to push most of the process to database.
All new BW modeling techniques ( ADSO or New Composite Provider) will work only with HANA DB.
General points why BW on HANA is more efficient
1) No DIM ID in cube
2) Change log tables can be converted into views ( optional )
3) DSO Activation Pushed to DB
4) Transformation Pushed to DB if no ABAP routines.
5) No need of index for cubes
6) Aggregations is no more required.

yes.. iPhone and iPad and maybe Explorer for other platforms (not sure what everything SAP produced) would be nice bonus.
All PC users would get Explorer experience from their PC.
Somehow I think that this would be nice logical way how to make people familiar with using these technologies and how to make demo "without making demo".

As per your query there is not profile of SAP to give display authorisation, for this you have to create new profile on module wise and assign to user.

the out put needs to looks as it in Excel...where there are multiple records with 5 fixed coulmns each seprated from one another by horizonalt and vertical lines..
I thinking about useing the Box with XPOS and YPOS who value changes dynamicaaly..
But again as the number of pages might be more than one..i think there will issues,

well it is possible but quite tricky.
All you got in SAP-SCRIPT to achieve this is the BOX-Statement.
The BOX statement works with variables for XPOS, YPOS, WIDTH and HEIGHT. what you need to do is:
- calculate those variables during runtime
- add box-statements with those variables.
to calculate those variables you need to count used lines and so on. i hope i showed you a way, rest is a lil brainwork then.

Dear Mobile Experts,

Does anybody have an idea which consequences this has for the mobile platform from SAP (MI), and it's mobile solutions (e.g. MAM/MAU)?

Is there any reason to have two MEAP providers? Two technology platforms, two market messages, two support organizations, two road maps? If I were SAP what would I intend to do? Promote a third party solution MEAP (Syclo) or their own MEAP application? I wonder!

I spent time today with Sybase and the SAP community at SAPPHIRE and there was a common perception that in the long term (meaning as soon as the acquisition is completed) the de-facto standard for mobilisation of SAP back end systems is going to be Sybase, whether itu2019s for SAP CRM, SAP Enterprise Asset Management or field service..
It is also expected that in the long term SAP will jointly develop the field services and mobile asset management capabilities that up to now Syclo has specialized in. It is also expected that SAP will eventually push customers toward an SAP-Sybase platform. SAP has the knowledge, technology and people to develop the Syclo EAM template functionality without much trouble.
RIM have the customer base to ensure its continued growth irrespective of SAP and Syclo.
Two questions which are still unclear are what will happen to RIM and SAP Mobil Asset Management? Will SAP build on the SAP NetWeaver platform using Sybase? Whatever the answer, one thing is clear, SAP finally has a company wide mobile strategy. Unlike the short-lived co-innovation partnership, this one is here to say, like it or hate it. SAP R/3 Modules and transactions belonging to them.

I have two questions which I would like some help with:
Q1 Is there a link to documentation that lists all the SAP R/3 functional modules and provides an overview/description of each module?
Q2 I would like to list all the transactions belonging to a fuctional module/area such as SD, MM, PM, FI/CO etc. I know that tables TSTC & TSTCT will provide a list of all the transaction codes, but is there a table that will show all transaction codes belonging to a specific fuctional module?.. if not then is there another way of getting this information?...Please bear in mind that I need to be able to download this information to an excel spreadsheet.

Problems with environments and transactional mode in the Python API

I have been having problems with the Python API, and I wonder if anyone can comment? I am using DB XML version 2.2.13, with python 2.3 (RedHat linux WS 4.0) and python 2.4 (SuSE 10.1) with identical results. I started with a simple example:

Segmentation faultA bit odd - I can't find anything in the docs about the required arguments to XmlManager.createContainer being different if an environment has been used explicitly.
Anyway, I persevered (my aim being to use transactional mode in Python). Changing the environment and container flags like so:
 envFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_LOG | DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_TXN | DB_PRIVATE
 conFlags = DB_CREATE | DB_EXCL | DBXML_TRANSACTIONAL | DB_NOMMAPThis change allowed the script to run, outputting the single classic line:
Segmentation fault(the C++ API docs at http://www.sleepycat.com/xmldocs/gsg_xml/cxx/transaction.html#initializetransaction are incorrect by the way - there is no flag DB_TRANSACTIONAL).
In spite of the segfault, the file "books.dbxml" was produced and could be queried by another application. A transaction log file "log.0000000001" was also written (10485760 bytes long).
Running this last example again with "python -v" showed that the segfault was being produced during the python's cleanup phase:

Segmentation faultCan anyone clarify what is going on? I had been hoping to deploy DB XML as an alternative to something more admin-heavy, but with this behaviour that would be hard to justify. A dirty exit from Python means that no-one will consider trusting their data to this engine (or am I doing something wrong?).

Your first failure -- invalid argument -- was due to an invalid combination of
flags to DBEnv.open(). Along with DB_CREATE you need at least DB_INIT_MPOOL.
As you can see, it worked once you added more flags.
The second, cleanup problem (segmentation fault) is the result of out of order
destruction of objects. This is fixed in the next release (later this year), but
you can work around it by ensuring that your XmlContainer and XmlManager
objects are deleted/cleaned up before the DBEnv object.
Python will cleanup in reverse order of creation, unless you perform explicit
deletions, which is also fine (e.g. del container, del myMgr).
Explicit deletion is always safe.

SAP BRIM with FICAX and DIMPS in a single ERP system

In our existing the ERP system, the DIMP (Industry extension) business function set is activated, but we are not using any features or capabiliities that DIMP offers. We now plan to use FI-CAX, Does any one know how to deactivate DIMP and turn 'ON' FI-CAX.
For example, Can we builld a new instance with DIMP off and FI-CAX 'ON' and do a database copy (refresh) from our our exisitng system to this new instance, does it work or are there any challenges with this approach?

when I was installing Second system then tnsname.ora and listner file was creating and privios system entry was removed. DUE to that reasion First one goes down.
Solution:- Both system entry should be Listner and tnsname file. Then Both server will work.

Help with DataServices and Transactions

I am using DataServices components and i am getting some
funny behaviors, i have read the documentantion but i have a
question:
1. - How do i do to call an Assembler from another Assembler?
I read that there is this DataServiceTransaction API but it says
that you need your DataServices to be auto-sync = false, is this
true? I mean, do i really need the auto-sync to be false to make
the DataServiceTransaction work?

The main aim of Recurring entry is post accruals (means periodically, reverse in the next moth,post the same amount). Also there is Manual accrual-here you can put your own logic for amount calculation, periodically posting more flexible, reverse could be turn over to delta logic.
But in manual accrual you can achieve 'approval' scheme (create Accrual object on basis on approved PO).
Or you can build this process via park document(with approval)

SAP Kernel update with HANA DATABASE

Dear experts,
I am planning to update the kernel with HANA database. It is my first time that I apply a kernel with HANA and for that reason I want to be sure everything is properly planned. I have updated kernel with Oracle databases and my biggest doubt is if I have to do something in the database, what would it be?
I have looking for any note that help me with a step by step but I couldn't find it. In that order I will ask you based on your own experiences.
Current Kernel is 742 PL28, I am planning to update to PL 101.

MII working together with HANA

Hi ,
I recently started to have a look at SAP HANA, impressive technology I must say.
Now my question is how do you see MII integrating with HANA, and will MII in your view/opinion have a place once HANA takes off ?
Has anyone had experience in doing such an integration yet, or planning to ?
Is there any one maybe in the MII development team that has an opinion or view on this ?

HANA's strength is in processing massive amounts of data, very rapidly. MII has a number of strengths (connectivity, integration of different data sources, rapid development of dashboards, etc.). Not sure where a point of competition would occur.
One area that they could share (IMHO) would be analytics applied to process historians (who have huge amounts of data). Not sure who is working on this, if anyone. But there would be some great amounts of data which could be analyzed by HANA and perhaps presented or distributed by MII.
