SAP CAL - Free Solutions - Try Now

Hi,
I registered SAP CAL (cal.sap.com), but once I tried Free Solution and Try Now button, it does not work.
According to one openSAP documentation, it is supposed to show "Term and Conditions", but nothing happens.
I was suspicious about the browser settings, I tried many things including IE9 and Chrome, but no help!
Any advise, help, thank you.

I was facing the same issue with IE9 and Chrome. I tried the same in IE10 and it worked. I am not sure what the issue is. I did not have any customizations in my broswer. It still does not work in IE9 and Chrome. Thankfully I have access to IE10 and I am able to make it work.

sometimes AWS needs 24 hours to fully enable the AWS account.
How much time did elapse between the time you created the AWS account and the time you entered the credentials in CAL?

Disk problem on an Intel Core Duo Macbook with 1.25 gig RAM and updated to OS X Tiger 10.4.8
Background.
About a month ago I ran into a problem with expose behaving oddly and after posting a question on this forum, the very helpful Dr Smoke advised me to clear my caches and to run 'repair disk.' from the installation CD. (This because I reported that a couple of times I had to do a hard reset.) I got expose fixed but discovered that my disk had serious errors in the directory structure, reported as "invalid node structure," and which Disk Utility could not repair. The laptop was running perfectly but several people posted advice that I should not leave this problem unattended to. Reporting this crisis again on the forum I was advised to buy Disk Warrior for a whopping $100 for what might be a once in a lifetime problem -or else I should back up my data and re-install everything. And I thought the Mac was more stable!! Up to 6 months ago I was a Windows user who often had such problems with the FAT but I was always able to cure them with Checkdisk or Scandisk. In fact MS Windows repaired it automatically after a hard reset. I feel that it is most unfair for Apple to not provide an effective utility to correct this kind of disk corruption. They bundle wonderful programs like iPhoto and iWeb but leave you in the lurch with a fundamental disk problem. With help again from Dr Smoke, I made my firewire disk bootable for Intel Macbooks (must be partitioned with the "GUID" option selected) and searched the forums for a way to get going again without forking out $100. I wouldn't mind if it was a program that did other useful jobs like on-the-fly partitioning but it was going to be an overkill for me. Learning a little from each of several other posts (sorry I didn't record the links) I put together the following solution which is easy to execute and the time consuming elements can be left to run at night or when away from the computer. You may see possible short cuts as you read through to make it even simpler, but here is my full story! Actually I was travelling around Eastern Europe and couldn't easily get disk Warrior or Tech Tools sent to me. I needed to find a solution from reading advice and downloading disk utilities off the Web.
I have a 40 gig ext. disk, mounted in a "hotdrive" enclosure which is useable either as firewire or USB 2. http://www.byteccusa.com.
My Bacbook disk is 60 gig but only 25 gig was in use.
My Macbook was up todate with every part of OS X including the firmware. except for Garage band which I do not use.
Step 1a. I downloaded 2 free disk cloning programs - Carbon Copy Clone and SuperDuper. I preferred the latter. Step 1b I read about Migration Assistant - part of OS X Tiger.
Step 2. I partitioned the Firewire disk in two (32 and 8 gig) for future convenience, and zeroed the disk after Dr Smoke's advice.
Step 3. I installed the basic OS X package onto my 8 gig "Firewire 2" using only Install (DVD) disk 1 which takes up less than 5 gig. (In Setup one chooses to not install the additional programs - iPhoto etc.) I checked that I could boot from it and that it was healthy by running "verify disk" when booted from the internal hdd.
Step 4. While booted from my internal HD, I cloned Firewire 2 onto Firewire 1 (32 gig) I verified the disk (no problems) then booted from it and assured myself that I had a fully working copy of OS X.
Step 5. I booted from firewire 1 and used Migration Assistant to import EVERYTHING - files, programs, the lot, from my internal HDD with the node structure problem. My firewire disk was now 25 gig the same as my internal HD. It had now two users, both shown as administrators. I booted to my newly-imported user ID - the original one that was on my internal HDD. The only problem reported by Migration Assistant was that Missing Synch for Palm might need to be re-installed which would not be surprising given what it does. Later when all was done, I discovered that the migrated programs had been placed in a folder on my desktop so I opened it and moved them all into the 'normal' Applications folder created by my new basic install. (Some programs don't like running from anywhere other than the Applications folder.)
Step 6. I worked from Firewire disk 1 for a day, trying out every program and it was working normally. One thing I noticed was that iTunes seemed to import as the original tiger 10.4.6 version so I needed to install the update to 7.02 which I had kept in my download folder. I tried to install the OS X update to 10.4.8 but a dialog informed me that I could not do that on this (external) disk. I don't know why, but later on I updated to 10.4.8 overnight using Mac Update.
Step 7. Make sure all your data has been backed up somewhere, and that there is nothing of value on your internal disk. Take a deep breath, and wipe it!! I did this using Disk Utility (from Firewire 1) and took the chance to partition my HD into 32, 18 and 6 gig. I chose GUID partitioning and zeroed the disk. No going back!
Step 8. I booted into Firewire 2 and installed SuperDuper. Then, from Firewire 2, I cloned Firewire 1 onto my internal HD 1 partition of 32 gig. SuperDuper does not call it cloning but rather 'copying all files.' It booted and works fine (as of Jan 10). Then I verified the disk when booted from one of the firewire partitions and all was well. Phew!
I ran sofware Update and it offered to update Java, OS X for Intel, Garageband and Quicktime.
So my node structure is cured and my internal hdd is partitioned without spending a penny and without having to re-install my programs one by one.
Note: There may be a few things to re-install or some prefs to reset but in general this method worked well. I mentioned having ro re-update iTunes.I also had to reset the Quicksilver prefs, and maybe I will yet come across something needing to tweaked again. (QS is a free launcher.) Oh yes, FireFox did not run well so I re-installed it.
I share this in appreciation for the help of Dr Smoke and others who answered my questions and for those whose posts were helpful to read, and for the benefit of others who may find them selves in the same predicament as me. And, oh yes, the trouble was not enough to cause me to go back to that other OS! Louis J

Invalid Node Structure is not a hardware failure, it never was (you may still have a hardware failure, but the Invalid Node error is not indicative of this problem.
Still, Disk utility will certainly fail to fix it, and DiskWarrior will probably fail too.
But don't despair. Try this, and don't give up till you've tried it at least three times.
First, get the name of the partition of the failing volume.   You can get it most easily by finding your disk in Disk Utility, selecting your partition (not the drive) and type cmd-i.    Look for "Disk Identifier" right at the top.
Then, open up Terminal, and type this:
sudo /sbin/fsck_hfs -yprd /dev/disk5s2
substituting your disk identifier for the one already here.   Keep the "/dev/" part.   Enter your password, and wait. It may take a while. I have had this fail several times before finally working so its important to keep trying.   It's faster than a reformat!!!
If the afflicted disk is your startup disk, you will need to do this in recovery mode: restart the computer, hold down option, and wait for the disk options to appear.   Select that, then proceed to Disk Utility and then Terminal as described above.
Good luck, and always keep a backup!

There seems to be a solution floating around but I can't seem to find the details.

Hi sachin,
You can monitor your sattilite systems through solution manager.
If you want to monitor systems in solution manager means you need to configure those systems in solution manager.
Before including the systems in solution manager we need to create a solution using tcode DSWP.
After that you can include the systems using tcode SMSY.
For configuring the systems we have lot of phases its very difficult to explain here.
Try to login to service.sap.com and help.sap.com find the helpfull guides.

SAP Digital signature solution in Invoice output PDF document

Hi,
We are trying to POC SAP Digital signature solution for Invoice output pdf document based on the OSS note 700495 implemengtation guide.
- Defining the log structure and database table.
- Defining signature single step and authorization group and assignment.
- Completed the configuration steps including system signature with authorization by SAP user id and password.
- Release strategy and Archiving NOT implemented for this solution as they are not required as of now.
Checked the above settings using DSIG_BOOKING_EX sample program and the same executed successfully without any errors and we can see the result 'Signature process was successfully completed by user XXXXXX'. Also we can view the signature log in DSAL Transaction.
Similar to the sample program code, Implemented the signature call in user exit ZXMCVU05(EXIT_SAPLMCS6_001) for Invoice output digital signature during VF01 create transaction.
In the process signature call processed successfully but the output PDF document does not have any signature.
Please let me know why digital signature NOT applied to invoice output pdf file. Is there any other process that need to be done?
Also if you have implemented any similar solution, please provide me the details on the same.

Are the User Name and Password correct? Is the User assigned to the SAP_XMII_User role in Netweaver? On the iCommand's Security screen, is the SAP_XMII_User assigned as a Reader role?
Have you checked the Netweaver log? There may be more detailed information there.

SAP CAL HANA - Connectivity issues

I deployed SAP HANA on AWS through SAP CAL.
I can connect to the HTTP interface and the HDB through the command line.
hdbsql=> \c -i 00 -u system

But if I try to connect to port 30015 remotely I just timeout. I have the 30015 open to the world in the AWS security group.
Is there a daemon that runs on the server that accepts remote connections or do I have a AWS network issue I need to investigate?

Most probably you are behind a corporate firewall that does not allow you to connect to port 30015. Could you try to connect from another network?

SAP CAL Activation with AWS - Failure

Following Instruction for Getting Started. Followed SCN documentation
Created user, Assigned two groups with with all four policy's @ IAM
SAP CAL still fails to validate.
Also wonder if there is more than one user, How does Cloud Application library authenticate the correct user in AWS.

This particular solution has two VMs and you were able to create only one of them because of the following error:
Operation Start failed on step Start Virtual Appliances with message: Start failed for VM SAP ERP 607 on SAP HANA SPS07 due to Amazon Web Services issue : AMAZON : Your account is currently being verified. Verification normally takes less than 2 hours. Until your account is verified, you may not be able to launch additional instances or create additional volumes. If you are still receiving this message after more than 2 hours, please let us know by writing to [email protected] We appreciate your patience. (Service: AmazonEC2; Status Code: 400; Error Code: PendingVerification; Request ID: cec64f67-b058-46ad-a813-be175b78b7fc)
This put the solution instance in status INCONSISTENT and the following Suspend and Resume operations will change the status of the existing VM but will not bring the missing VM up. To do so you may terminate this instance and create a new one. A couple of days should be enough for the AWS verification. If not, I would recommend to contact [email protected] as the error message advises.

SAP CAL issue Activating HANA instance on AWS

My CAL instance of openSAP Course: Introduction to Software Development on SAP HANA 2013.01 is stuck in Activating status. I had previously deactivated my AWS account, and have now reactivated it. I got an error when trying to active the instance that my AWS account did not have the services required for the instance, and now I seem to be stuck in between creating the instance and the instance actually getting created. My AWS account is active, and I entered the security keys on the CAL side, but it is not working. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Eric,
The instance entered in a state that does not allow to disappear from the list after the termination. We (the SAP CAL Team) just fixed the instance manually and it should disappear from your list. I also would suggest you to double check that there is no created instance in AWS console also.
Now you can create a new instance.

When you sync using iTunes on your computer, do you see a lot of "Other" at the bottom of the iTunes Summary Page for your iPhone? If you do, try a "Restore iPhone ...". That should help.
Hopefully that would do it for you. If not, the next (more drastic) step would be to restore again as above, but choose "Restore as New" and then manually sync. Omit any apps that might be suspcious in their space use (primarily Game Center apps).

Granted 30 or 40 iPads is not a huge impact but i promise once the outside world hears about this BS things will change. There are plenty of other tablets out there that do not have this problem. At the very least we should have the option of rolling back to a stable IOS...

I have already tried all the things mentioned above as well as other things such as other browsers etc. Its is obviously a problem with the hardware. I also borrowed a brand new 4th gen iPad and it does the same thing. Even after upgrading it to 6.01. An occasional crash is one thing and can easily be waved off but this is clearly systemic and the problem appears to be related to graphical images and videos. Both iPads are the 64gb versions, the only difference other than model is the iPad 1 has ATT cellular. The new version is clean i.e no other APPs loaded other than what came with it. I have 7 more coming but im seriously considering sending them back in favor of an Android tablet or the MS Surface.

I am working on SAP CRM Free goods . Basically i have a Scenario where i want to give Quantity based Discounts ,
in which if a Customer purchases a goods of 3 quantity i want him to give 1 qty as Free good thru the sales order .
The free good may be either Same product or Different product, Can you pls help me where to maintain these
Free goods mapping in SAP CRM so that when i enter the Main item automatically the Free good should pick up automatically.
Can any body pls help me on these configuration .Psl provide if you have any documents or links .
Is it possible to down load free goods determination from ECC to CRM, If yes, plz provide the config settings for the same.

There will be a free good determination procedure assigned . You can see this in spro CRM->Basic Functions->Free Goods->Set Up Free Goods
2. Where the Free goods determination data will get Store in CRM after the Download .
The table in CRM is /1CN/CCFSAP010
3. We have a Scenario where if Customer Purchases a 3 QTY of Products we have to give a 50% Discount on 4th Product .
the 4th Product may be the same product or Disfferent product .Is this Scenario possible in CRM ?
I need check about this scenario , if this is possible in ECC then surely it will work in CRM also.

Pagefile for SAP Erp2005 and Solution Manager 4.0

I've installed SAP ERP2005 and Solution Manager 4.0 on the same server with Windows 2003 Standard 32bit.
The RAM on this server is 3325MB.
How many paging file I must configure???
At the moment I configured the pagefile size as defined in the installation guide:
1 RAM + 8GB that is 12285MB.
Is it correct????
For both instance I set the PHYS_MEM parameter to 2328 (70% of the RAM)...is it correct??
P.S. How to calculate the [BE] parameters??
[BE] = maximum possible number of user calculated from the size of physical main memory
