Sap career in which module - reg.

Hello Guru's
This is challa, from Hyderabad, i have lot of doubts in choosing the sap career. I found many sap modules in which i can't find to choose.
i am working as a Logistics executive (import & Export) in a company, i am very much interested in SAP. My Aim is to get a job in SAP industry.
So, please suggest me sir which module is suitable to move forward in SAP, i am very much confused so please kindly help me sir.
now my age is 29 yrs is this age is write to get job in SAP. so please give me complete guidance sir.
Regards
CHALLA

Hi Sudhakar,
The best suitable module / system suits for you is SAP SD (cover logistics) & Foreign Trade and SAP Global Trade Services (Compliance, Customer, Risk Management.
SAP SD Covers logistic execution and Foreign Trade, however nowadays SAP trying to split all modules in big a way due to Globalization. If you look at SAP SD - Foreign Trade that becomes SAP Global Trade Services as separate system.
The quite secret is domain experience never counts in IT industry but that would be an added advantage for your career as for my experiences in India and outside India. Also, the companies first question is "Whether you have relevant SAP experience or are you holding any SAP certification" you can experience when you apply for a job.
Age side, there is no restriction of age to enter into SAP because when I studied in SAP Authorized Training Institute there were two guys whose age was 40 and 41 years and another two guys were 36 years old. That was a great boost to me when I joined at 29 years to take a certification and I started my SAP career at 29 years only.
You know one thing, all those guys got a job in only in CMM Level 5 companies in India, you have to believe you and your passion, patience and perseverance end of the day. Because those Mid 30 years and 40 years old guys were succeeded already then why can't you.
Our guys already pointed lot of things to you... Take a slow step one by one and try to get into SAP. Do not urge you and take the step. Do not leave your current job and take the step. So, take it very slowly and precisely.
How will I take step?
1. Go to SAP Authorized Training and take a certification
2. Go to SAP Training Training and Certification Shop and Take the training & certification.
3. Be patient and apply the job and set your target (give 3 to 6 months time) to get into SAP or become SAP Consultant.

• Testing Career: Is there any SAP career growth???

Dear SAP Experts,
I am SAP SD Certified fresher, completed certification in Oct.2013.
I joined one of the reputed MNC in June 2014.I was happy thinking that I got entry in SAP but soon my happiness converted into sorrowness because after spending 40 days in the company I got testing project.
In this project my responsibility is to take care testing part.Client is rolling out SAP regionwise and outsourced testing part to my company but there is not much exposure to SAP.
Now there are numerous questions in my mind:
1) Shall I continue this role or search a new job(but getting new job would very tough as I am fresher)?
2) Is this testing project affect my SAP career?
3) Going forward what are different things I should learn so that I will get good hike after 2 yrs if I continue this role.
4) Shall I join any institute which will give me insight about support or implementation project so that I can show in next intw(after 2 yrs) even if I worked in testing project i know process of implementation or I know the types of tickets and all other stuff
Kindly guide me.
Regards,
Abhijeet.

Hi Abhijeet,
This is sad part but I don't want to demotivate you more as this is your first job in SAP career.
"Which road you take that will lead your growth". The problem is if you are starting as testing career then you will move on to same testing roles and will not get any SD implementation or support opportunity. Just ask them, would you able to be part of Support or Implementation project.
Positive side: Sometimes if your project likes you, then you will move into SAP implementation project down the line, due to increasing demand of skills in your project. I have seen many people in the past and recently projects recruited as testing guy then moved into functional roles on implementation.
Testing may be ok in the beginning but do not stay longer because your profile not worthy in future. Look for better opportunity if they ask you stay more than 6 or 1 year in same testing roles.
Career Path for Testing - Test Analyst, Senior Test Analyst -> Testing Manager -> Testing Director
Career Path for Functional Consultant - Functional Consultant -> Senior Functional Consultant -> Functional Lead -> Solution Architect or Project Manager -> Programme Manager

• Which module under SAP is having much requirements in Software industries.?

Dear Friends,
I am into Software industry from more then 4 years. And i am good at Software skills like Java/J2ee and also im very good at HR Management where i am handling resources and clients more ever im in even into Business development/ Account Management.
My profile is a mixture of all the stuff ie technical and non-technical. So i am confused at this stage in thinking like which module is good as per my profile.. And i want to take up course/module which is very HOT in IT market as off now. I mean having more requirements in India/Abroad/UAE as well. ie probability of getting job should be more.
I am even ok to go for modules like SD,MM, etc which is different from my profile.
IM TOTALLY CONFUSED AT THIS STAGE. REQUESTING you guys to help me out to choose my module under SAP.
Regards,
Ahmed.

Based on your description, I think BI upgrades might be of interest to you.
But based on your other "contributions" to SDN, my opinion is that you should perhaps consider a career in the agricultural sector.
I do both, and it works quite nicely to balance things.
Cheers,

• Best/Hot SAP Career Module

Dear All,
Can anybody guide me which SAP Module is lonstanding in terms of market sustainability? Is it SAP CRM? SAP Project Management? SAP Product Life Cycle? SAP MM? etc....
I appreciate if someone could guide me which module is best. (Irrespective of the domain knowledge of the candidate, I would like to know which SAP Module has bright prospects for at least 5 to 10 years more......
Thanks in Advance

I am not a visinary, so I cant tell how the market will be in 5 or 10 years.
but if you are good in your job, then you will probably survive in whatever module you are supporting.
Having a job does not mean that you just rest for the next five or ten years. everything is flowing and developing.
it would be pretty boring if I had to do 10 year long the same old stuff.
And if I look back 10 years, then I can tell you a lot has happened, and I think that even more will happen in the upcoming 10 years, as everything is going faster.
MM is a commodity, from my point of view you cant really make a career with this module.
We dont even have an IT department for this module, as it interfaced to any other module, everybody does a little MM part.
And looking at job offers of the last couple months here in Germany, then noone is really looking for MM guys.
you have to have at least 2 modules.
I feel that GRC (governance, risk, compliance) is becoming more and more important. The days where the IT guys were the kings is over. The big audit companies forcing the business to take ownership of data, restrict it to the most, have people not do 2 things that could potentially harm the company. All big companies are looking for GRC guys,

• Which module SAP ABAP or SAP PS

Hi
I am Varun Maheshwari. I have done B.E in electrical and Electronics. I had experience of 1.8Yr in Project management as Project assistant in Centre for Wind Energy Technology(on Contract basis). My role was Planning of the project, Site selection- Pan India, Resource & inventory planning for installation purpose, Budgeting the project, Collection of the data and analysis, Report generation as per the analysis to the management and third party. I am willing to pursue career in SAP domain but i am really confuse between SAP domain (SAP PS or SAP ABAP) which will be good if you consider growth & opportunities.
Please guide me considering Market Scenario, Future Growth & Recruitment Opportunities?
I will be highly thankful to you !!
Regards
Varun Maheshwari

Hi Varun,
Since you already have almost 2 years of experience in project management, it is better to capitalize on this experience by choosing a career relevant to your experience. This experience counts when you go forward in the same area (Project management).
In SAP, for project management there are three tools serving different business processes.
1) SAP PS (Project Systems)
2) SAP PPM (Portfolio & Project Management)
3) SAP CPM (Commercial Project Management)
In general it is better to start with SAP PS and then later on with SAP PPM which has very good integration with PS.
Coming to your query on future growth/recruitment opportunities.. There are lot of job opportunities for SAP PS in the market.. Any project in any company in this world requires a tool to monitor & review the project progress. Considering this organisation may use either SAP PS / PPM / Microsoft project / Primavera. But definitely organisations using SAP uses SAP PS for project management. So in short, there is no shortage of demand for SAP PS.
Considering your experience, I have given my opinion and it finally depends on you to choose a career in which you have passion.
Regards,
Ravi

• Want to learn SAP - which module should opt for...

one of my friend is in to Retail domain..non SAP Domain working with one retail channel as a store manager. ...Wants to learn SAP....which module should he go for..SD / CRM / or direct IS_Retail certification...as a fresher where he will be able to get chance...???
i am working as a SAP Recruiter in some company..so i am aware that there is not much demand for fresher in this industry..
please guide...

Plenty of information about Retail education on Service Marketplace - Retail where you will find course descriptions. For example:
This curriculum comprises an Overview Course (Level 2), which explains the main retailing processes in SAP for Retail, plus seven Detailed Courses (Level 3), which examine specific retailing processes and how these are mapped and controlled in SAP for Retail.
The Overview Course IRT100 (Retail Process Overview) explains the core processes of a retailing company. Based on a scenario in which merchandise is sold from stores, the course demonstrates how the store and distribution center are supplied with goods. Further process examples are the special cases of promotions and return of merchandise.

• After completed as an MBA HR & System, Which module is the best for freshers ??

Hi, I am Samrat Saha. I completed my post graduation as an MBA (HR&System). I did BCA in my graduation and did Higher secondary in commerce. I want to build my career in SAP. But I have some questions::
1. If i go for SAP then which module is the best for me..??
2. As a fresher is companies showing any interest to recruit..??
3. I hard a Course from Victoria University, Melborn, That Is "Master of Business (Enterprise Resource planning System) with SAP".. Is this Master degree worthy to do??
Message was edited by: Sarah Kellman

Hello Samrat,
It is not possible to provide guidance on what career path you should take. This is a conversation you need to have with a Career Planner or perhaps one of your professors. You should follow the path you are most interested in, be it a functional role or a technical role. Ideally you may want to consider getting some work experience in both fields, and then determine which area you wish to pursue.
You state you have an MBA in HR & System....System what?? System development? Technology? Programming? Data Warehousing? Even HR is a vast area within the SAP world. We have Payroll, Recruiting, Self Services, Compensation, Time Management, Learning Management Systems, etc. Most consultants select one or two areas to pursue. There is no such thing as a single person who knows the complete SAP HR solution...it's just too big!
I will suggest that you consider taking an SAP HR course so that you can get an idea as to how large the application is. There are lots of courses available in e-learning. I would recommend either SAPHRE or HR050E to start. Once you have completed one of these, you'll be in a better position to decide what you want to do, or at least decide what you don't want to do.
Good Luck!

• Which Module for Vocally challenged Inter C.A. Student

Hello,
My name is Gaurav Bidasaria. I completed my C.A. Inter but started working as a tech blogger instead. I learned web designing, app development and few other skills during those years. Primary reason for opting this line:
a) Interest in internet and related domain
b) Lack of oral communication (0%)
As far as my voice is concerned, it is partially impaired which means you will understand everything once you spend few days with me. You will also understand almost everything if you meet me the first time, however, I dont think I am suitable for meeting clients, explaining them technical aspects and getting feedback. Interaction with fellow workers will go along just fine.
I am looking for back office job for this reason. Which modules should I undertake? Also, I have heard that being a techno-functional pays good rewards in the long run. I am willing to put in effort, and I am really good at self-learning as I have learnt web designing and App development all by myself. So I am confident I can learn anything anywhere with little help.
I was thinking about going for FI/CO/ABAP/BI modules. Not sure though.
Please let me know if you have any queries or questions. Do not hesitate. Any help from your side might help me build my career.
Thank you for your time and efforts. Much appreciated.

Sravan,
You can test the web self-service just by launching the Web Dynpro PIQ_MBSS_OIF directly at first. The Student Role (delivered with EHP4) in the portal also includes it as part of the Service Map. The standard portal location is:
pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/specialist/com.sap.pct.isher.student.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.isher.student.roles/com.sap.pct.isher.student.student
I believe you need the following Business Package in your portal: BPISHERST03_0-10006146

• Kindly suggest which module to choose ?

Hi,
I have done BBA & MBA (Finance & Marketing). Having 6.5 years of experience in Sales n Marketing in FMCG sector. Currently working as Area Sales Manager but now I want to do SAP module. But now m totally confused which module to opt as someone suggested to go for SD as u r from sales background, some suggested doesn't matter from which background you are so you can opt for BI as there is a huge scope for job. It would b great if seniors SAP consultant will guide n suggest me to choose the module.
M looking for your valuable advise so that I can decide as i don't have any knowledge about SAP n their module.
Regards,
Rituraj

Hi Rituraj,
Its great to know that you have good amount of domain experience
Off course you will get different opinion from different people as their view points are based on some key facts, thought process, their perception etc.
However I would say you should think logically for your case.
First : If we go by your education then Finance & Marketing are suitable for you.
Second: However we should not undermine your experience in Sales & Marketing. And if we go by your experience then you should be in SAP SD which your education also supports partly.
Third: If we consider your FMCG expereince then SAP IS Retail would be nice option as A challenging market, coupled with competition from around the world and an abundance of information available at shoppers’ fingertips, makes today’s shopper more powerful than ever.
Fourth: Reporting is there in every sap module and being in BI would make sense if your focus is only reporting but considering the fact that sap is constantly upgrading only BI experience may not be great as HANA is in the cards and there is a paradimn shift already noticed in many organisation.
Fifth: Dont underestimate your interest however while pursuing your interest then consider all facts instead of only interest as you need other stuff as well other than only interest to taste success for your any career in this case being sap career.
So based on the above facts about your education, experience, interest probably you can think about SAP SD & IS Retail. Also dont forget while learning sap, focus is mostly on business process as ultimately you will be configuring, testing and implementing respective business processes, so if we dont understand the business processes itself then learning sap would be not much of use as i am sure you dont want to brand yourself just as a configurator or testor for your lifetime.
Thank you very much and have a good day ahead.
Get back to me in case you need any further clarification.
Thank you.
Thanks & Regards
Subhasish

• Which module have high pay, BI or BW or FICO??

Hi guys I am a fresh graduate from an u.s university, and looking for a job in Oracle development. But I am interested in SAP and wanted to move to SAP after working 1 to 1.5 years on development side. In the mean while i just want to study SAP. But I am confused which module to select I did master of science in computer science............._I am coming to SAP only because it has high pay_........so......please advice me a module which has high pay. Some modules which interests me are BI, BW, FICO. I have to work in U.S. so advice me according to the U.S pay scales..............thanks in advance.......

Hi,
BI and BW are one and the same. BI (Business intelligence) is the latest version and BW (Business warehouse) is the older one. It is also sometimes referred as BIW.
BI is basically for the people with Data warehousing platform. Experience in Oracle SOA, DW, Cognos, SAS, hyperion, terradata, MS BW. basically any tool that deals with ETL process. And the salary here depends on the experience in any of these tool.
FICO is basically for the people with finance background. and the salary here purely depends on the functional experience (no. of years of exp).
comparitively job opportunities are more for BI. And the salary is comparitively higher for FICO as there are very few people with the relevant exp.
Hope this helps in deciding your career. All the best.
