SAP Chart of Account & Trail Template

Hi,
Can any body give me the SAP Chart of Account Template & Trail . I also need sample trail of SAP. becuase while i am defining for my company i will take a help from template and sample trail.
Regards,
Mahesh Kumar Sharma

Hi Son,
Basically the template is the same as regular CoA without segmentation, except that for the active account the account code is blank, then fill it on the "FormatCode" column full with the segment code.
Lets say :
account code: 1010101
segment 1 code: 01
segment 2 code: 00
format code: 10101010100
And other difference is when you do an update, use the SYS_ code as the account code. Query the OACT table to see the SYS_ code assign by SAP to your g/l.
Hope it's works

  • What is the best practice to create Chart of Accounts

    Hi Everyone,
I am new to SAP FI/CO. My question is...which is the best to create chart of accounts? Is it by copying from standard SAP Chart of Accounts (like CAUS) or to create from scratch. Please explain me the reason too.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
Adding on to the comments made by people, Chart of accounts creation process depends entirely on the requirement of the client's business. Going on with my experience I would suggest first to study the existing chart of accounts from the legacy system of client. Have a discussion on it with FI business process owners regarding removal of some redundant accounts, addition of some new accounts and specifically examine each and every account with in digfferent account groups.
Many a time it happens that people get an GL account created but they seldom use it. The job of a good consultant is to identify such anamolies and get it corrected. I am mentioning below some of the standard ways of creating a chart of accounts and you can use one of the way depending upon your convenience and requirement.
You have various options for creating G/L account master records in the system:
Using a reference- You can copy G/L account master records from an existing company code and then change them.
Use this procedure if you want to use a chart of accounts included in the standard system or if you want to use an existing chart of accounts as a reference. The advantage of using a reference is that the account assignment is also copied. This ensures the integration of General Ledger Accounting with other application components.
Data Transfer Workbench- You can copy G/L account master records from an external system and then change them.Use this method if you have your G/L accounts in a non-SAP system and want to transfer them to your SAP System.
Copy G/L accounts- You can copy G/L account master records by copying a chart of accounts and then the company code. You should only use this method if there is a chart of accounts in your system that exactly meets your requirements. If you need to make changes to the chart of accounts, your should complete this using a reference method.
Create manually- You can create G/L accounts master records by manually creating each individual G/L account. The method is quite time consuming. You should only use it if you are certain that the standard SAP System nor any other system contains a chart of accounts which you could use as a reference.
Hope this helps you. Let me know if you need any other information.

    Hi,
There are certain preliminary steps to be carried out in ECCS. You can find them under SPRO->Enterprise Controlling->Consolidation->Integration: Preparation for Consolidation.
You need to choose the type of consolidation, create Company, link it to Cons Unit in ECCS, Creating/Copying FS Items (each account in Group COA will have an FS Item; 1:1),  etc.,
After the setup, you actually need to carry out Rollup or Flexi Upload for importing FI data into ECCS FS Items. This is done to Data Monitor - CXCD.
In ECMCT, typical selections would be Dimension, Cons Unit, Cons COA, FS Item.
I suppose these preliminary steps are requried for the data to flow to FS Items.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • Loading Chart of Accounts from SAP into Account dim in BPC automatically

    Hi,
for my client I would like to take a predefined flat file from SAP containing chart of account details (account id, description and parent) and load and  process them automatically using dtsx packages in BPC 7.0 MS.
Also, I want the package to able to be able to change details when it finds an already existing account id (e.g. if the description changes) and only for the properties contained in the flat file (i.e. keep the property values the same in BPC for those properties which are not in the extract for existing account records), or to add new accounts for those that don't exist.  I don't want the existing dimension completely replaced, as the SAP file won't contain info for fields like ACCTYPE, or TYPEELIM for example.
I find the help in Data Manager extremely confusing and am not sure which bits are current or have been superceeded.
I am an application consultant with limited knowledge of DTS/ SSIS and I wonder if someone can give me a step by step detail of  what I must do to achieve this. I am sure that many people would like to do something similar.
    regards
    Scott.

Here is what you need to do in the SSIS package.
    1. You need to create exactly same structure as MBRAccount Table. Let's say tmpMBRAccount
    2. Export Account data from SAP as FlatFile
    3. You need a Script to fill in ACCTYPE or other properties that doesn't exist in SAP but mandatory for BPC account dimension. This script will change exported Flatfile.
    4. Import step3 flatfile into tmpMBRAccount table.
Some users import data into MBRtable directly but it is not good because if error happens,
there is no way to roll back until restore table from backup database.
If users use temporary table as we do, Admin task will backup and roll back if error happens.
    5. Run Admintask and point tmpMBRAccount table as source table.
    6. You need another script to update Excel member sheet from updated mbr table.
If you don't have this script, data member will be inconsistent between excel member sheet and MBR table.
Some customer add more steps to validate members or error handling.
If you are not an expert of SSIS, I think you need a technical consultant for doing this.
There are an example package in BPC sample package folder but it is very basic one.
    Thank you.

I want to create a template for Group Chart of Account, Operating Chart of Account and Company Code Chart of Account.
In that I have a fields related to Operating chart of account only thing is how to find the fields related to Group Chart of account.
I want to use this field to develop a auto creation of GL account.
Please help me to prepare the template related to Group Chart of Account.
    Thanks and regards,
    Dev Mahendra

    Hello,
There are three chart of accounts will be there in the system.
    1. Operating Chart of Account - for day to day activities
    2. Group Chart of Account - for group reporting
    3. Country Chart of Account - for legal reporting in the country
Any chart of account is a chart of account. Every chart of account irrespective of operating or group or country chart of account will have two segments.
    1. Chart of Account Segment
    2. Company Code Segment
Both the segments can be created through FS00.
You have create a recording through LSMW and create each chart of account.
Refer the following link for LSMW
    www.scmexpertonline.com/downloads/SCM_LSMW_StepsOnWeb.doc
Before uploading data thorugh LSMW, create chart of account names in OB13.
If you assign group chart of account to operating chart of account in OB13, Group account field will appear in GL account of operating chart of account.

  • How can I Migrate a Segmented Chart of Account with DTW?

    Hello.
If anyone could help me to solve this problem I would be most gratefull...
The templates installed in SAP Business One under the DTW folder do not include a segmented chart of account template, so I would like to know how can I transform (if that is possible) the standard model, or maybe find a way out, cause' the chart of account is pretty big and I have it all in a well defined CSV.
    Thank you.

    Luciano,
The forum that you have posted your question in is for questions related to the SAP Business One integration for SAP NetWeaver.  You should post this type of question in the SAP Business One SDK Forum or the SAP Business One Discussion Forum as you may get a quicker response.

  • Best Practice for legally required Chart of Account

    Dear all,
our client has a global defined chart of account. Now they are going to implement the SAP template in France, Belgium and Russia. These countries have legally required chart of accounts. What is best practice to fullfill these requirements in SAP.
    1) Do I use the alternative account number?
    2) Isn't this field on the central level of the account master data record? How do I manage to realize the different number for Russia and for France at the same time?
Thank you very much for your help.
    Best regards Timo

    Hi,
the best way proofed by real life is to define new chart of accounts for the country specific accounts. Then to assign this chart of accounts as country chart of accounts in company code parameters.
Then you can use field alternative account number in company code segment of G/L accounts.
Just keep in mind that the assigment should be 1:1, i.e. one operative (global) account is assigned to one local account and one local account should be assigned to one operative account.
You can't change the alternative account number if there is balance on that account. You can just repost the balance to another account, then change alternative acccount number and then post the balance back. For some accounts its difficult to do such excercise so I use short ABAP which changes directly the field in table SKB1.
You can also define financial statement strucutre based on local chart of accounts - which is usually easier for maintennace, because you can use intervals. Just do not forget check "Alternantive accounts" in RFBILA00.

    Michal

  • DTW for Chart of Account changes

    Experts,
I need to use the DTW for importing changes and new accounts to the standard Chart of Accounts.
When I run the DTW, nothing is imported, even though this is successfull.
Here is teh fields that I have populated:
Header: Code, Name, Cashaccount, ActiveAccount, FaterAccountKey, Account type, AcctCurrency, ForeightName, FormatCode.
    Values: 1, COANew1, tNO, tYES, Cash and Equiv, at_Other, $, 12345, 111111110100101.
What do I need to populate in the Code field? Is this different when I update or import a new account?
    Thanks,
    Marli

    Gordon,
Thanks, this worked for the new accounts.
The update of old accounts still give an error "Cannot find this object..." I believe this has to do with the 'Code' field, as there is a note in the cell:
"This field serves as the key of the record in SAP BusinessOne system and it is mandatory. This field is used as a reference in the child template. When adding new data, the value of this field is user defined (e.g., 1,2,3, etc.). When updating existing data, the value of this field should be the real record key in SAP BusinessOne."
What is the real record key in SBO?

  • Import Chart of Account via DTW - field ReconciledAccount doesn't work

    Hi all,
I'm importing Chart of Accounts (segmented) via DTW.
I want to set the SAP LocManTran field to YES
so in the Excel file, I populate the  ReconciledAccount field with tYES
The importation works fine but the SAP LocManTran field is not ticked after the import
    Someone could help?
    Thanks in advance
    Christian

    Hi Christian,
ReconciledAccount is the field RealAccount.  There is LockManualTransaction in the template you should set tYES.
    Thanks,

  • DTW Chart of Accounts error

    Hello Exports
Thanks for all that you do for us.
I am have difficulty DTWing new, additional Chart of Account information into an existing database.  I have searched the forum and found several posts, but nothing seemed to address my particular issue.
As I understand, CoA information requires only 3 columns: AcctCode or FormatCode, Name and FatherAccountKey. So as a test, I've only included these columns.  All of my lines at this point fail with the following error
    Enter Valid Code Application-defined or Object-defined error65171
I am wondering if part of the problem is the DTW template for CoA.  The template from SAP has the following column headings:
    FormatCode.....Name.........FatherAccountKey
    _FormatCode.....AcctName.....FatherNum_
I've been told by our consultant that the template is incorrect and that the column headings should be identical, i.e.:
    FormatCode.....Name.........FatherAccountKey
    _FormatCode.....Name.........FatherAccountKey_
I have tried to import the data both ways, and they both fail with the same error message.
    Again, thanks for everyone's help.
    Randy Davis

Thanks to everyone who replied with help.  I actually spent 3 hours this morning on the phone with Zal Parchem, who helped me figure out the problem.  In lieu of points, he requested that I just buy him a beer.  Problem is, he'll probably make me buy it in Germany.  Now that's an expensive beer!
    Solution:
    1.  I needed to include the Code (AcctCode) field as the first column and fill it ordinally (line 1 = "1", line 2 = "2", etc).  DTW will automatically covert this to the proper "_SYS" number.
    2.  Account segments needed to be set up in the chart of accounts.  This one confused me a bit.  I already had the CoA segmented.  What I didn't do was to set up the new segment code under Admin/Setup/Financials/Account Segmentation.  You need to click on the row header of the appropriate segment in order to enter this information.
    3.  Apparently, the requirements for the import file has changed somewhat:  It use to be that both column headings were required to be the same.  With the new version of DTW, the templates are formatted with the DTW fields on the first line and the SAP fields on the second line.  In older version, you had to have both lines of column headers be the same.  Apparently, you can do it either way in this version.
    4.  The template indicates that several fields require "tNo" or 'tYes" as the only valid values.  This causes an error of "Data too long for field".  Changing this to "N" or "Y" worked.
    5.  The template indicates that the field AccountType (ActType) requires "at_Expenses", "at_Revenues" and "at_Other" as the only valid values.  This, too, causes an error.  Instead, use "E" for Expenses, "I" for Revenues (Sales) and "N" for Other.

  • Harmonizing the Chart Of Accounts

    Hi Every Body,
I have a slightly different question from one on my clients.
They are interested in harmonizing the Chart of accounts.
I have good idea , what should be done while harmonizing COA.
But if some body can give me some inputs on Benchmarking's while harmonizing COA.
When i say benchmarking , for eg: lets say AP control accounts , how many account codes we can have , based on what we will decide to have AP  control accounts.
If i demystify my question , should i need to have one control account for every vendor or do I need to have a control accounts based on vendor type.
Like above example , if some body can tell me the major areas in SAP FICO , i will create a benchmarking template based on your information.
Thanks a lot in advance for all contributors.
    VjayGopal

This mostly depends on the business processing and reporting requirements.  There is no hard and fast rule.  Sometimes, things are guided by the statutory requirements too, which must be adhered.
For eg., you define the control accounts based on how you want to classify your reporting.  You can put all the vendor groups in a single control account or have separate control account based on vendor groups or types.  Say, for one time vendor different account than a regular vendor.  Or even a North territory Vendor posted to a different account as against a South territory Vendor.  Things are mostly guided by the business requirements.
