SAP Collector For Performance Monitor Slow

Hi,
I have created a background process for RSCOLL00 to run hourly.
But it took half an hour to complete the job for 3 time slot, namely from 8-9am, 1-2pm and 7-8pm. At other times, it tooks just a few seconds to complete.
When I list the job log for those slow 3 time slots, there were some errors:
Message text                                       Message class        Message type
Error at Create Object: LCA                 SADA                      S
Error at Create Object: LDA                 SADA                      S
Error at Create Object: LEA                 SADA                      S
Anyone has any ideas what these errors are and how to make get rid of them.
Thank you.

Hello,
Those appears to be some sort of APO/Livecache connections. Could you
confirm if these are valid connections?
LCA, LDA, LEA,  DB connections can be removed from DBCO.

John Feely

  • Standard value for performance monitoring

    Guys,
I am looking into performance monitoring in the RWB bacause I think our production server is too slow. I get an average processing time per message around 60 sec, +/- 30 sec depending on the volume going through. This is obviously an unexceptable value...
But I was wondering, are there standards set for these values to indicate when performance is too (s)low? Any reference docs available from SAP?
    Thanks

There are various factors need to be considered. 60 seconds happening for almost all interfaces or only some specific. If only for some interfaces, then check the message volume size. SAP recommends message size up to 5 mb for optimum performance. Also security layers such as https/ssl and message level security such as encryption or digital signing/verify could cause some additional delay in processing too.
Fixing Hardware is easy... You go for the SAP recommended spec.
If you are using PI 7.1 or above use Message Packaging configuration. This will help considerable boost in performance.

    counters ? Thanks in advance.

All of the guidance from TonyV that you found still applies.  And is still very relevant.
And MSFT has never given guidance in regards to any performance counters that I can ever recall.

  • How is solution manager useful for performance monitoring

    Hi,
I want to check expensive sql statements in production and quality systems. How can solution manager be useful for this.
It would be great if anyone can provide me some documentation on this

    Hi,
In Solution Manager, there is an Early Watch Analysis report which is generated and which has section in the report ' Performance Indicator' in that section you will get 2 things :
    1. Top 10 Transaction codes which has huge response times.
    2. Top 10 program which has huge response times.
and after that you also get the list of expensive SQL statement in the report and then you can just optimize the queries and improve system performance.

  • Exchange 2013 Performance Monitor Data Collector Sets

I've noticed that the Exchange 2013 install created two data collector sets within Performance Monitor:
    ExchangeDiagnosticsDailyPerformanceLog
    ExchangeDiagnosticsPerformanceLog
These sets are creating daily log files saved in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\Diagnostics\DailyPerformanceLogs that are about 500MB in size, which are filling up our system volume.
I've tried stopping them, but they get restarted automatically. I also tried deleting them, but they get recreated automatically. Is there a way to disable these? We have a 3rd party tool that we use for performance monitoring and would like to avoid having
to delete these log files on a regular basis to keep our system volume from filling up.
As a workaround, I've changed the path where the log files get saved to a non existent drive letter, but would still like to disable the Data Collector Sets completely.
    Thanks,
    -Cory

    Do note,
These performance counters only take up 1 week and not more so it will be about 3-5 GB if you can`t spare this on you c disk you have not implemented any best practise exchange design.
specialy with todays JBOD SATA design your c disk will be 1TB +. Review your designs to match MS advise.
    MCTS-MCITP exchange 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Exchange: 2007 | MCSA Messaging: 2003 | MCP windows 2000
    Hello Martin,
Many of us are implementing exchange in a virtual environment, where disk is at a premium.  Spending money on a 1 TB system drive is not a reasonable expectation.  Even if that is best practice, there should be a way to manage the location and
    size of these log files.
The inability to manage the location of log/performance data for centralization, or other reasons, is one more example of the disconnect between MS and their customer's use cases in regards to 2013.
These are the requirements for 2013 from MS:
At least 30 GB on the drive on which you install Exchange
An additional 500 MB of available disk space for each Unified Messaging (UM) language pack that you plan to install
200 MB of available disk space on the system drive
A hard disk that stores the message queue database on with at least 500 MB of free space.
So your statement is invalid as 30 GB is not even close to deal with the amount of log and performance data that we cannot modify in any way.

  • Performance monitoring in a multitier system

    Hello,
Is it possible to identify a session by a service name (for performance monitoring) in a multitier system? I mean, the session of an X user precisely.
    Thank you.

    >
Is it possible to identify a session by a service name (for performance monitoring) in a multitier system? I mean, the session of an X user precisely. The critical thing here is whether you have control over the code or not - what's
    your situation?
If you do have control, then instrument your code.
If not, you can use a monitoring framework - say Nagios - but don't forget the old
traditionals such as syslogd and logging different component messages to a
central logging server. Don't neglect the OS native tools. The problem with these
is that it is difficult to tie one particular session to performance problems.
Having a test system is also a very* good idea - you can run just one session and
see exactly what's happening in a given situation. In fact, if you don't have a test system,
your first* priority after reading this post should be to implement one.

    Hi.
    Read CAM documentation.
    For example:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E19768-01/820-4192-12/820-4192-12.pdf
Show detailed performance statistics for one or more arrays.
    sscs list -a array-name,... -t array_stats|controller_stats|volume_stats [-c A|B] [-h host-name,...] [-g host-group-name,...] [-v volume-name,...] [-s name | total_iops | read_percent | write_percent | total_data | avg_read_size | avg_read_rate | peak_read_rate | avg_write_size | avg_write_rate | peak_write_rate] performance
Modify settings for performance monitoring. To reset performance settings, toggle the status to off and back on again.
    sscs modify -a array-name [-S on|off] [-p 1|5|15] [-r forever|1HR|2HR|4HR|1DAY] performance

  • 1636215 - Performance monitoring for the Advanced Adapter Engine

    Hi ALL,
How can we monitor the performance by changing the parameter to true in the above note please please help me
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hi Dheeraj,
Since you've gone through the note, I'm assuming you know how to activate the performance monitoring for adapter engine.
However, there are reservations against doing it in any system Dev/Quality/Production. Reason being, it becomes performance/load intensive when the perf. monitoring is on.
Still, you can diagnose bottlenecks and execution trends in Dev/Quality using performance monitoring as suggested in the note but be aware that your box is coping well with it. Please note, once activated, you don't have to do anything else. System will automatically collect performance data and you will be able to browse through it using the performance monitoring link.
    How to use it???
You see a performance monitoring link in Monitoring Home (navigate via Configuration and Monitoring home from PI/PO homepage).
It will help you analyze the flow of message on periodical basis (hourly/daily etc) and will give you more stats on number of messages in that time duration, average time taken, message sizes (min, max and avg), interface-by-interface detail of runtime consumption at every stage etc.
Please go through standard SAP help for more clarity:
Monitoring Performance - Advanced Adapter Engine - SAP Library
Apart from this, there is this great blog by Suseelan around monitoring:

    Hope this helps.

  • How to parameterize SAP PO Performance Monitoring

    Hello,
we have upgraded our SAP PI 7.1 to SAP PO 7.4 (Java Only). Now I ‘d like to parameterize the Message Performance Monitoring. I cannot find the parameter to change the amount of days in which the performance data is available. It seems that the default value is set to 7 days, but I can’t find the parameter to be changed. Please advise how to reset the parameter.
    Thanks for your support.
    kind regards
    Daniel

    Hey Leela,
thanks for your advice. But unfortunately this isn’t the value Im looking for. The parameter “xiadapter.inbound.persistDuration.default” only define that messages and their payload are available for this amount of milliseconds.
I’m searching for the parameter to change the number of days I can display in the performance monitoring. For example I can check the performance data from the 1.12.2014 until the 8.12.2014. On the 9.12.2014 the aggregated data are lost.
Which parameter I have to change to get a higher amount of aggregated performance data. Because I want to see performance data from the 1.12.2014 one month later not only one week.
I have added a Screenshot from my performance monitoring. In this view I only can see the performance data from the last 7 days (aggregate into days). I want to see the last 31 days in this view.
    Thanks for advice

  • Best Approach for Performance/Event Monitoring

I'm completely new to SAP and would appreciate the input of some more experienced folks.
I have been given two tasks for SAP: performance monitoring of the SAP application/associated modules (e.g. SAP Memory utilization, number of processes, etc.) and alarm event monitoring (anything that would be characterized as a error and logged).
For the performance monitoring I would like a access the metrics once every 5 minutes to keep a running history.  Several things I've started to look at are the Alert Manager and perhaps a Perl API interface.
For alarm events, I assume there is some SAP module that can monitor for these and generate SNMP traps or perhaps a custom application that does log mining.  As part of this I am trying to determine where error events are written to in SAP (e.g. a log file??).
If anyone has insight or can point me in the right direction, I would be very appreciative.  Thanks in advance.
    Ed

    Dear Ed,
If Wily Introscope is configured for your Portal, which shoold be the case because SAP delivers it as with SAP Solution Manager, all metrics which oyu mention would be available.
If you are running a testing instance which is not integrated with Solution Manager, you could try the Web Administrator
