SAP Connect - SCOT/SMTP Config Clarifications

Dear Global Colleagues,
even though enough information is available in Google & in Help.sap.com about SAPConnect configuration, SCOT settigs with detailed snapshots I unable to figure it out the flow & stuck up with couple of confusions. Requesting you to kindly help me.
Objective:
My objective is to execute email campaigns.
1.I'm quite confused with PORT parameter? some one says use 25 some other uses 4,5 digit value. What is this Port? Is it mail Host Port? or SAP Standard Value
2.In SCOT, I give Domain, User Email (Sender) and for testing i created a mail from SO00. Point here is, without giving logon details of my mail server, how come one can send an email? If so where I have to enclose.
3.After all I see an email error msg saying given email address is unknown.
Kindly Clarify my doubts and Apologies for my lack of knowledge.

Many Many thanks for your detailed information. Looks like I already done those exactly the same steps what you suggested.
However, I believe I stuck up at a corner to fix this. because when I test using SO00 Instead of getting actual message to the target recipient, it is sending an email saying email is bounced. So email communication is established but have a minor settings issue. I think the problem is with Parameters which i passed.
FYI.. Kindly observe given parameters.

Is it possible to define several SAP Connect nodes for email? My client has several application (in BW) that require the sending of email but on a different schedule per application.
For example:
- Application 1 requires email once per week AFTER manual checks of the email queue.
- Application 2 requires automatic email sending every 15 minutes.

Hi,
If you speak about SMTP node from transaction SCOT, it is not possible to define several SMTP nodes in one SAP system.
You'll have to find a way with 2 different jobs.
Maybe you will need to write a specific abap program based on RSCONN01 which would only push the specific mails from one application ?

Is your question related to
1. sap and BO are connected and you want to authenticate the established connection is correct or not?
or 2. do you want to authenticate the transferred authorizations from sap to BO?

Macbook Pro Cannot Connect to SMTP

I am running a 2010 MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8. I use Mac Mail app to send and receive e-mail. Since Thursday 27th Dec 2012 I have been unable to send e-mail. I get the grey spinning wheel until the following error message appears:
The SMTP connection to server “mail.(mydomain).co.uk” failed.
My outgoing mail server is currently showing as offline. In fact I have 2 e-mail accounts and both are showing as offline. No problem receiving mail. Connection doctor connects fine to incoming mail, but not outgoing.
I have tried the following (plus other things) without any success:
Checked all the details, passwords etc
Changed ports from 25 to 465 and 587
Checked my IP address - it is not blacklisted
Removed and re-added e-mail account
Telnet port 25 - it is not blocked, but appeared to successfully connect (from what I understood from checking www)
Temporarily disabled firewall
Re-installed Mac app
Rebuilt mailbox
Repaired disk permissions
Used the repair disk utility
Deselected SSL and changed various options within "Edit SMTP server list"
Reset the keychain
Tried updating software but it says no update available.
Re-instated an old Accounts.plist (and one other file which I forget, something like com.apple.mail) from time capsule.
I then set up a hotmail account on Mail app but had exactly the same problem, ie cannot connect with SMTP server.
However, I set up my e-mail account on my wife's iPad with the same details and there was no problem at all, e-mail sent just fine as it does from my iPhone. So the issue has to be with my Macbook, right? Can anyone help before I go and spent £1250 on a new Macbook? I'm sure I'm missing something obvious. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Just FYI, I've had the same problem for months now. I have been accessing my hotmail via the web, but decided to try the OS X Mail app. I could get emails into the account with no problem but couldn't send. I read all the blog and support entries and have tried everything they recommended, like changing my computer name to one word, without success. Then last night, it just so happened that my broadband provider had to change out my wireless modem. As soon as he plugged in the new one, some emails that had been in my outbasket for a month went through instantly and all of a sudden my Mail, both incoming and outgoing now work. So I think people need to look at their router settings for the a solution to the problem.

I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

I cannot acess some of my emails. Thunderbird keeps saying "connection to SMTP server (email adress) timed out. What does that mean? What do I do please?

I purchased 2 new email, adresses a few weeks ago. Both were fine but a few days ago I was stopped sending and stopped receiving emails on the one. The message comes up on my screen "connection to SMTP server (followed by my email adress) timed out. That does not mean a thing to me. What should I do please?

I had been asked by ICANN some days ago to do something but I thought it was a scam so ignored it. Most other users I have spoken to have never heard of ICANN or been asked to 'register' with them or whatever. Anyway, post writing to you I have now 'registered' with them . When I now click on my incoming email adress it just says "failed to connect to server" but why it fails I do not know.

As of yesterday, I am receiving e-mails fine; however, unable to send. Everytime I try to send an e-mail, I get "Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server (my mail address) timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator.
I received help from lunarpages (they host my domain); however, they were unable to resolve the issue. They suggested something is blocking IP, or need to update Thunderbird, or there's a firewall there...

To diagnose problems with Thunderbird, try one of the following:
*Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". Cannot send emails - connection to SMTP server timeout

I cannot send emails from my Thunderbird. Every time I try, an error message shows up saying that the connection to SMTP server has timed out:
"Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because the connection to SMTP server smtp.lineone.net timed out. Try again or contact your network administrator."
I have looked at many different possible solutions and tried them, but nothing seems to be working. I have tried several different ports, failed to send in Safe Mode with Networking and Thunderbird safe mode without add-ons and tried many different settings. I have ensured that the my settings on Thunderbird match the settings that my ISP recommends. My anti-virus software is not affecting it either. Maybe there is something I am missing but I would really appreciate any suggestions!
Here is some general info:
Mail provider: lineone
ISP: BT
Anti-virus software: AVG
OS: Windows Vista
Thunderbird version: 31.5.0

Firstly, I would suggest reading this support article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cannot-send-messages
If that doesn't help, try some of these things (not sorted in any particular order):
*Test your connection in another network. There might just be some blocked ports in your router or conflict of some sort.
* Test your smtp settings in another email client (to ensure that they actually work). If it doesn't work, there might be some missmatch with the settings (even though you have ensured that they match), or some restriction by your router or something.
* Apparently, compacting your thunderbird folders might help with this issue (something to do with too many "deleted", that are still there) - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders

Cannot connect to smtp sever in Mail or Eudora

I've been reading the forums all afternoon and although there are a lot of similar problems none exactly like mine (or, no solutions that fixed mine!) After a hard drive failure I'm trying to set up Mail with my godaddy account. I can receive, but not send. In the activity window there are two spinning barber poles:
Delivering message (connecting to server "smtp.secureserver.net")
Checking account (connecting to server "smtp.secureserver.net")
But after a short time a third message blinks something about "writing to disk." It doesn't last long enough to read the details.
I tried the "perfect godaddy settings" I found in another thread but they didn't work. And then (and I suppose this is significant) I gave up and switched to Eudora and the same thing happened- I can receive but not send.
Any suggestions?

OK, I discarded the reference to the network as well as the half dozen or so smtp servers I've tried over the course of the day. I still can't change the network (airport) password. I type in the new one and get the message NetCfg wants permission to change access permissions of item PPP Password in your keychain" If I click allow, it goes back to what it was. EEEK!
And I still can't send email - same thing, can't connect to SMTP server.
Suppose I just chuck all this and upgrade to leopard (which I was thinking of doing when my hard drive crashed.) Will all these troublesome settings remain or can I start anew?

Add new System to SAP connection adapter - HAL

Hi. I would like to add a new System ID to Application Link's SAP connection adapter (HAL).
I mean: we have been changing SAP environment (i.e System ID) and I would like to add a new System ID in the list; however, as I create a new SAP connection, only a list of old System ID is displayed.
Even if I create and test correctly the new connection, the new System ID is still not displayed. Any advice?

PS, to SAP developers: there are multiple companies frowning upon the decision to display the grayed-out buttons in saplgpad. I would hate to roll-out 720 with a in-house launcher for saplgpad that hides the buttons using some dirty hack.

Email Notification: Unable to connect to smtp server

I am working on SOA 11g. Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0.
I am trying to send an email. I have done all required configurations such as:
1) Mail Access Protocol = IMAP
2) Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.companyname.com
3) Outgoing Mail Server Port = 25
4) Outgoing Mail Server Security = None
5)Workflow Notification Properties -> Notification Mode = Email
When i execute the process it gives me the error- Status type : DELIVERY_TO_GATEWAY:FAILURE, Status Content: javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host: smtp.companyname.com, port: 25
Please help me resolve this.

Your computer can't connect to a computer named "son1175", or if it can then that computer isn't running a server listening at port 25. Talk to your network people if your computer name is the right one and ask them why not. It is nothing to do with programming.

The tables SOSC and SOOD are used to find the list of waiting objects to send.
My problem is , I have to delete some specific entries from this list through code so that these entries will not send to approver.
Is it sufficient to delete entry of seletced objtects from table SOSC?
Also could you please tell me about other tables like SOST?
