SAP Connector: Retrieve Business Components?

Hello,
i am evaluating the features of the SAP Connector. I deployed the login-data and checked the connection ("Success!"). Then I tried to import metadata.
I see the Message "Retrieving Business Components.." for e few seconds, then it disappears. There is no metadata imported and no error message.
I tried this both with 10gR1 and 10gR2.
Can you help me?
Tobias

Which version of SAP system are you connecting to?

  • Cannot retrieve business partners in SAP mobile iPad

    Hello Colleagues,
since some days I'm not able to retrieve business partners in my SAP mobile App.
Neither in iPad nor in iPhone.
I tried it on 2 different test servers.
A couple of day's before I saw all the business partners.
The only change I did in the last days was executing the steps regarding the Java JRE that was recommended by SAP Note 1582526.
In the Message-Log I've found the following:
The SQL-Exception with the ErrorCode 242 points to a conversion error from the given Date-String to a DateTime Value.
The Date-String is automatically inserted by the (whatever) system, it is the current date.
Is there a possibility to change the DateTime Format so the query can pass thru and I can see the business-partners?
    Thank you in advance
    Rudy.

    Problem solved
After setting the language of the sql server "sa" from german to english, everything works fine.
I don't know why this problem occurred. I never changed the language before...
    Cheers

The contractor that installed this, thinks the next area to look to is to see if the SAP EP has been configured somehow to stop outgoing http traffic from applications running within it... Maybe the EP is blocking outgoing HTTP access, although other components from the EP are working OK.
    How can we check this?
    Please advise.

  • SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll installing to 2 directories

I am installing SAPGUI Frontend components including the BW and BI add-on components on a Windows XP/SP2 system with .NET 1.1 already loaded.
I've read on this forum that SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll and other .NET assemblies are installed to the GAC, but I saw on a test machine where this assembly (and others) were installed to both the GAC and to the ProgramFiles\sap\frontend\bw directory as well.
Is there a requirement for the .NET assemblies to be in the bw directory ( or other private SAP directory as opposed to the GAC?   )
If anybody from SAP knows the answer, it would be much appreciated.  Thanks!
    Thanks,

    Hi Sowmya C,
    How are you doing ?
Upon addition of any SAP component, the reference is added automatically.
However, in the event that the reference to "SAP.Connector.dll"
is not present, you can add it through the references tab, provided that the SAP.NET Connector is installed on the local machine [as this will allow you to add the dll reference locally, like you would reference anyother local assembly]
It is of type .NET dll

  • Problem using SAP Connector in Win 2k3 x64 - No Data is returned on BAPIs

    Hi,
During the tests of migration to a 64 bits environment we encountered some problems with the connection to the SAP server.
The first problem was that the librfc32.dll library was a 32 bit library, so application could not run in x64 mode.
We downloaded the official x64 library from the Support Portal (https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/support > Downloads >
Support Packages and Patches > Entry by Application Group > Additional Components > SAP Kernel > SAP KERNEL 64-BIT > SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT >
    SAP KERNEL 6.40 64-BIT > Windows Server on x64 64bit > #Database independent >  librfc_66-20001176.sar, and extracting file librfc32.dll a x64 dll).
Using this x64 dll we finally could test the application in 64-bits mode (the purpose of the migration) testing its runtime behavior,
    where my current problem is.
When connecting to the SAP server all BAPI's we test are always returning an empty data results.
We have no errors nor exceptions from the SAP .NET connector, only the results come empty when they shouldn't.
When testing the same application but linked to the SAP 32 bits library (application runs in 32-bit mode), invoking the same BAPI's
(using the exactly the same code and parameters) we got the correct response from the BAPI, i.e., non empty results.
We already tested a set of BAPIs and always with the same result, in x64 we got no data, in 32-bits we got the information.
Does anybody know what can be causing this misbehavior? What can we do to make application run correctly in x64 mode?
Here some additional information about the Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard x64 Edition, Service Pack 2 (with all windows updates installed).
    Best regards,
João Portela on behalf of Manuel Dias

Maybe your application isn´t run in x84

  • Databased diagram and business components

    Hi,
I am using Jdev release 1 (11.1.1.3.0) to create a database diagram out of the BC entities. I would have thought that as long as i had specified ERD notation, my diagram would not look like UML based one (.e.g associations without crawfoot etc)., but it does.
    Can someone please confirm.

We are looking Smart Business apps for Inventory management – Can you please get the components/any other requirements for getting this installed ?
else could you redirect us to any url or documentation ?
    Thanks,

    Hello Jamie,
Yes, went through the help documentation and reached the Analytical apps documentation.
Above screenshot is on the Analytical deployment option ,where we get to see the KPI Framework setup with the HANA XS Engine setup. If i am not wrong the Analytical apps and the SAP Smart Business apps share the setup of HANA XS engine and KPI Framework only (in Smart Business Apps).
So would like to confirm if the below installation link steps remain the same for SAP Smart Business apps too!
    Installation :
    http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/f3/8f4552c474b610e10000000a44176d/content.htm?frameset=/en/5f/fc1f533f86ef28e10000000a4450e5/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/6b/966753a4834e3fe10000000a441470/plain.htm&node_id=73
After which i guess we need to be following the KPI modeler on Front- End server and the respective SAP Smart  Business Products  on SAP HANA server.
    Many thanks!

  • Business Components Client Methods

I have a question regarding BC4J and client-callable custom methods.
There are certain custom methods (ie to retrieve xml for that object and parse it with a stylesheet), that I've written for my BC4J Viewobjects that all ViewObjects in my project will be requiring.
So far, I've had to copy and paste the code required for these methods into each view object I create. This seems very inefficient, yet inheritance is out since all view objects already inherit from the oracle.jbo.server.ViewObjectImpl class.
Is there anyone who has found a more elegant solution for doing this?

    Danny,
There's no requirement that your view object inherit exactly the oracle.jbo.server.ViewObjectImpl class. The only requirement is that they ultimately derive from that class. That means that you are free to subclass ViewObjectImpl with your own com.clinicare.framework.ViewObjectImpl and then use this enhanced version of ViewObjectImpl as the base class for all the View Objects you create in BC4J.
You could of course manually change the base class for each one as you create them, but a better way is to "teach" the BC4J design time wizards about your preferred framework base class specializations and then the wizards will default your classes instead of the default class names.
See the Framework Base Classes tab of the Wizards | Business Components Properties wizard to set these.

  • Difference Between SAP Connectors and SAP Web Services Framework

    Hello,
I would like to know the main difference between the SAP Connectors protocol (that uses SOAP) and the SAP Web Services Framework starting with NetWeaver.
    Thank you,
    Pedro Carrilho

    Hi Pedro,
I guess you are talking about Business Connectors and XI.
If that is the case, the differences are:
SAP XI belongs to SAP Netweaver Technology, whereas BC is an Integration tool provided by Webmethods.
SAP XI is based on a model called "Hub & Spoke" and Business Connectors are "point to point". So by using XI, what happens is that you do not redesign Solutions once again.
With XI you save the entire integration knowledge of a collaborative process centrally in SAP XI: Objects at design time in the Integration Repository and objects at configuration time in the Integration Directory. In this way, SAP Exchange Infrastructure follows the principle of shared collaboration knowledge: You no longer need to search for information about a collaborative process in each of the systems involved, but can call this information centrally instead. This procedure considerably reduces the costs for the development and maintenance of the shared applications.
Also SAP XI comes with pre-configured solutions bundled along with it, so you can straight-away use the solution instead of redesigning.
Also i believe SAP XI is integrated as a required solution for some new mySAP solution like SRM, there are some scenarios within SRM requires SAP XI to be used and we cannot use BC's there.
But incase if you do not have multiple systems connected and communication is between just 2 systems, BC should be sufficient, instead of investing on XI.
But i guess slowly SAP will be stopping its support for BC, as SAP XI can do everything that BC does and even much more.
    Also go through these threads...
    Re: Business connector
XI vs Connectors (Like JCo and .NET)
I hope this is what you were looking for...

After upgrading from EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 2 to Patch 3, our iViews using the SAP connector framework is no longer working. No connection is obtained. Even the examples in the PDK has stopped working. 1. please have a look in the Visual Admin Tool -> Services -> EISConnector ans see if the SAP Connector is deployed there. if you see it there, so it is deployed.

  • Associations and Links does not load when creating Business Components

    Hi guys,
I am having a problem when I create my business components from table. Let's say that I start a new fusion web application. I then create my business components, enter the proper database connection settings. After everything is done, I am only getting my entities and my views, without any associations and links.
The thing is that it worked the first time. Everything loaded as it should. I then asked a collegue of mine to try on his computer. Surprise, everything loads perfectly just like it did the first time I did it.
I then tried on one of my linux virtual machine, via the same PC that I am having the problem. Again, the same problem, even if this is another JDeveloper instance (vm).
I have read the thread 2187263 that mentions to re-create the DB connection. Again, it is not working.
Associations and View Links missing in JDeveloper 11.1.1.3 and 11.1.1.4

Any help would do, since I do not want to uninstall JDeveloper and reinstall it again and again...

Yes. In SQL Developer, when I click "Modify" on one of my tables, and then on "Foreign Keys", I can see them all.
Like I said, it worked on a different workstation, and it worked before on my computer.
