SAP Content Server 6.40 on same machine as NW 7.0?

Hello,
is it technically possible to install a Content Server 6.40 on the same machine as a NW 7.0 system?
Where would I normally find this information?
Thanks,
Michael

Yes, the idea was to do this on the dev system.
I just found a section about content server in the Netweaver Master Guide:
Standalone engines of SAP NetWeaver are additional installable software units. They do not work
as full-blown systems of SAP NetWeaver, but as standalone engines that provide a specific (server)
functionality in combination with one or more SAP NetWeaver systems.
Standalone engines are not part of a usage type. They do not run on AS ABAP or AS Java.
For SAP NetWeaver, the following standalone engines are available:
Content Server
Content Server is a separate server instance that is used to store documents or other types of
content related to SAP applications. The accompanying cache server can cache content if your
company operates in several locations. This reduces load on the wide area network when working
with documents.
It doesn't really say, that it is not possible.
Problem is if we can really recommend this to the customer or if it is too risky...

  • Some questions regarding SAP Content Server / Knowledge Warehouse

    Hi,
we are thinking about SAP Knowledge Warehouse which needs the SAP Content Server.
Is it possible to install the Conent Server together with a Solution Manager System where we would like to use the Knowledge Warehouse functionallity? The Conent Server needs his own database instance. Is it possible to add it to the actually installed Maxdb for the  Solution Manager?
What is the actual version of the Content Server 6.30 or 6.40? Is there no 7.0? What about the future of the Content Server?
We are running Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1. Is it possible to install the content server on the same machine? What about the database? Can I use the already installed DB of solution manager?
    Thanks ahead

Is it possible to install the Conent Server together with a Solution Manager System where we would like to use the Knowledge Warehouse functionallity?
If you have enougth resourses why not?
The Conent Server needs his own database instance.
This is are not true, you can install content server without MAX DB.
Is it possible to add it to the actually installed Maxdb for the Solution Manager?
Again why not, if you have correct max db version per PAM for content server (you need 2 DB instance second are for cache server) check pam for NW 7.0 (the PDF document) you find information about content server requirements here and in page --> Database components on same NW 7.0 PAM.
What is the actual version of the Content Server 6.30 or 6.40?
    6.40 are last version,
We are running Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1. Is it possible to install the content server on the same machine?
Your OS are ? I'm install cont server 6.40 on system where NW 7.0 are installed without problem, do not know about NW EHP1 .... Good backup are start point .....

We do not want to administer it via HTTPS, (as we know CSADMIN doesn't support Https in rel. 46C as for note 712332). We want to do in way that the users when do check-in/out of originals these go across the

  • Moving SAP Content Server/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 Server

    Hi All.
We are in the process of upgrading our server where the SAP content server is located.  We are going from SAP CS 6.30/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 server where we want to install SAP CS 6.40/MaxDB 7.8.  I have been following the latest manual from SAP for upgrading to MaxDb 7.8  (2010-10-05) from MaxDb 7.6 using the in-place method.
To date we have installed MaxDB 7.6 on the server.  We restored our latest backup and performed the index checks as spelled out in the manual.  I have the database in ADMIN mode and went to run the MaxDb 7.8 install for the 64 bit window version.  THe install GUI comes up, but the Update selection is grayed out.  This tells me that the install program can not detect our existing database.  I did make sure I was running the install as Admim so I do not think that is the issue.
This is the second time I have tried this upgrade.  The first time I did a comand line upgrade by runing the .bat file DBUPDATE.bat. We have a 110 Gbyte database and this upgrade ran in about 15 minutes, and of course when I went to openthe database it was toast.  Do not want to make the same mistake again.
One other point, since we did a restore of the database, then the index check, we did not run a backup as the manual suggested as we felt it was not necessary.  Does the system require a backup before upgrade and that is why it does not see the database?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I beleive we have resolved the issue with upgrading the database, but now we are having a problem with Datbase Studio 7.8.  Before the upgrade we used Data Manager 7.6.  After the upgrade we installed Database Studio 7.8 and when we go to start it up, we are getting the Problems opening perspective 'com.sap.sdb.tools.ut.perspectives.mainPerspective'. I followed the instruction in another post Problems opening perspective in Database Studio, but we still are getting the error.
Can anybody offer any assistance as we are getting close to the weekend when we want to do the cutover and we are not even done with our first pass at upgrading the SAP content server.
    Thanks
    John

  • SAP Content Server 6.40 on Windows 2003, IIS 6, filesystem storage

    Hello:
We have installed SAP Content Sever 6.40 on Windows Server 2003, IIS 6, and using the filesystem as storage, not SAPDB.
The installation goes without any issues and completes successfully, but the test URL http://<host>:<port>/ContentServer/ContentServer.dll?serverInfo returns "The page cannot be displayed" and not the expected system info/status. We need to fix this before moving on to config in ERP, any suggestions into Content Server or IIS settings/configuration is appreciated.
We're using the standard install port 1090, and testing from a browser in the same host.
    Regards,
    Eduardo

    Additional information:
Looking in the event viewer under application, I see the following 2 errors:
    1) The HTTP Filter DLL D:\Program Files\SAP\Content Server\ContentServer.dll failed to load.  The data is the error.
    Data: 0000: 0000007f
    2) Could not load all ISAPI filters for site/service.  Therefore startup aborted.

  • How to install Apache Web server on my SAP Content Server

    Dear Experts,
I am in the process of installaing Content Server in my landscape, i am working on Suse Linux 10 SP2 and planning to install ContentServer 6.30.
I have read the standard SAP installation document for the same and it says that we need to install Apache Web server version 1.3.XX, so i have downloaded the file apache_1.3.27-x86_64-whatever-linux22.tar.
Now i want to know the following before i take any actions on my further installation of the Content Server
What is the difference between Apache and httpd servers (services) are they different or same
Is the file apache_1.3.27-x86_64-whatever-linux22.tar correct to install Web Server on my Linux system
Do i have to download any other httpd files
How to install and start the Web server on my Linux
    Waiting for some information
    Thanks and regards
    BasoKing

You can install a higher apache also (2.2.x), I'd not use the old versions. I'd also not use a "somwhere" compiled apache, you don't now if that version is clean.
I'd rather compile an own one, it's not that difficult:
Note 664384 - Generation info for Apache Web server for SAP Content Server
The result will be a default webserver (httpd) without any unnecessary modules compiled in.

  • Using SAP Content Server for SAP E-Recruitment

    Hi SAP Experts,
We are presently implementing SAP E-Recruitment using BSP services, We are successfully runnig with Whole E-recruitng cycle when we use SAP system DB as storgae for External Candidtes' Documents.
But, Our Client wants to have SAP Content Server to store all documents uploaded by External/Internal Candidates becuase client is worrying that if SAP system DB holds such huge data base of Resumes, it may slow down the performance of SAP System.
So, We need inputs from you suggesting whether is it feasible to use SAP Content server for SAP E-Recruitment Implementation. SAP no where suggests to Content server. So, we are in deliema to go for content server or not. If it is feasible to use Content server, pls provide me proper links or documents for reference.
    Please give your valuable inputs,
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sudheer Kumar P

    Hi Sudheer,
We are considering the same option.  We are concerned about performance after all these documents are uploaded too.  Did you install a content server?  How did it go and was it difficult to set up with e-rec?
    Thanks

  • Sap content server - error sending certificate - HTTPIO_PLG_NO_MPI_INIT

    Hello all,
we have installed the SAP content server and created a new repository which has the status running.
Now when we go to OAC0 and the send certificate button, we get an error message:
    Error in HTTP Access: IF_HTTP_CLIENT->RECEIVE 1 HTTPIO_PLG_NO_MPI_INIT
    Message no. CMS166
Why can I not send the certificate?
    Thanks
    Anne

What i mean is you need a user that has both local machine administration rights and local domain administration rights. This is due to the fact that it installs some web components that require domain admin. If you don't install with this, its likely you will be able to test connection fine but receive errors when trying to send the certificate. This issue cannot be resolved after the installation. i.e. if you install with the incorrect admin rights and then adjust these afterwards, it will still not work, and the only solution is to reinstall with the correct rights.

  • How to save .JPEG Image on SAP CONTENT SERVER?

    Hi,
I am working on online interactive form where i am getting scanned signature as .JPEG image that i want to store on SAP CONTENT SERVER. I am using webdynpro abap tool for application developement .
Please guide me . Thanks in advance,
    Saurin Shah

    Hi
You can do it but there is one very critical exception to do it depending on the Webserver that you are using :
    1. Is you are using Sunone Webserver then you cannot install multiple instances of CS on the same webserver instance.
And if using IIS then the only thing that you need to do on the webserver front is to restart the Webserver after the second instance is installed so that the webserver picks up the config entries made for the second instance's install.
With Apache webserver you will have make the entry in the httpd.conf for the second instance as you had done for the first instance
    Eg for this is :
    This is my first instance:
    LoadModule IdcApacheAuth "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/shared/os/win32/lib/IdcApache22Auth.dll"
    IdcUserDB cs2 "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/data/users/userdb.txt"
    Alias /cs2 "D:/oracle/ucm/cs2/weblayout"
    <Location /cs2>
         Allow from all
         Order allow,deny
         DirectoryIndex portal.htm
         IdcSecurity cs2
    </Location>
    This is my second instance:
    LoadModule IdcApacheAuth D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/shared/os/win32/lib/IdcApache22Auth.dll
    IdcUserDB idc1 "D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/data/users/userdb.txt"
    Alias /idc1 "D:/oracle/ucm/idc1/weblayout"
    <Location /idc1>
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all
    DirectoryIndex portal.htm
    IdcSecurity idc1
    </Location>
    Hope this helps
    Thanks

  • Netweaver 6.50 HTTP SAP Content Server Version

    Hello.
I need information about the version of Http SAP Content Server in Netweaver 6.50. I have been browsing the SAP portal and I can not find any information.
I have a client application that uses the content server that comes with Netweaver 6.40 and I need to know if it will be compatible with the content manager of Netweaver 6.50.
¿Is it the same version as the Http SAP Content Server of Netweaver 6.40? ¿Where can i find more information about it? ¿ Netweaver 6.50 is the same as Netweaver 2004 ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.
    Carlos

    Hi Carlos,
I think this must be a confusion, As far as i know version 6.50 does not exist, Netweaver goes up to version 6.40 and then jump to 7.00
¿Netweaver 6.50 is the same as Netweaver 2004?
No, Netweaver 2004 goes up to 6.40
    Hope this help!
