SAP Convergence Query

Hi,
I installed the SAP convergence on the desktop. Is i have to install any terminal object on my machine?
And what would be the Host Address to get this enabled?
I'm pretty new to BCM and trying to make this tool work.

All your answers are in the Client Workstation installation guide
Procedure
1. Install the terminal_Core_7.0.X.XX.msi package. Install also required handset adapters. See the chapter Installation of BCM Terminal Component [page 19].
2. To install the actual Convergence software, copy the convergence V2.msi package to an appropriate directory, for example C:/SAP/BCM.
3. Double-click the convergence V2.msi package, and follow the instructions. When Convergence is started for the first time, it asks the Host Address. Enter the address and port of the virtual unit where the Web Clients package has been installed, for example <Website VU>:1080.

Prompt List of Values in WebI - SAP BI Variable - SAP BI Query -BI Infoset

We have a Multiprovider built on an Infoset. SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
Multiple-Single Values type Optional Variables are created for some of the Objects of this SAP BI Query.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration kit.
WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompts are created on some of the Universe Objects, for the WebI report.
We are facing a typical problem.
When a WebI prompt is created on one particular object, (which also has a Multiple Single Value type Optional Variable in SAP BI Query), its List of Values is showing up only first three values in WebI. The SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values, for the same object.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in the List of Values & this is the problem.
We tried to keep the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset, Multiprovider = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
Similar objects and similar variables for the same query / webi show all the List of Values.
Any guidance on aspects to be checked would be helpful.

Problem :
If an SAP BI Infoset is used in data modelling, and a restricted key
figure is created in the SAP BI Query; the resultant WebI Object Prompt
for the Info-object, only shows up LOVs which have been used for the
restricted Key Figure. Both the things are not related except for the
fact that some of the values for the same object are used for the
restricted key figure.
Details :
We have a Multiprovider built on an SAP BI Infoset.
SAP BI Infoset is built using 2 DSOs.
There is a SAP BI Query on top of this Multiprovider.
There is a restricted key figure in the sap bi query. KeyFigure "Number
of Records" is restricted for 3 of the relevant Info-object "Meter
Reading Status" values.
Universe is created on top of this SAP BI Query, using SAP Integration
kit. WebI is created on top of this Universe.
Prompt is created on the Universe Object for Meter Reading Status, in
the WebI report.
List of Values is showing up only the three values in WebI (which were
used in the Restricted Key Figure calculation).
SAP BI Variable in BEX Analyzer for the same Info-object Meter Reading
Status shows up all the 8 values for the List of Values.
The Output WebI report has more values for the object than shown up in
the List of Values & this is the problem.
We have kept the settings in Info-object, DSO, Infoset,
Multiprovider, Query = Values in Master Data (for the List of Values).
When we delete the "Restricted Key Figure" from the SAP BI Query, the
refreshed Universe and Webi have a complete set of List of Values
applicable.
Steps for Reconstruction
1. Create Infoset
2. Create SAP BI Query on Infoset
3. Create Restricted Key Figure for Number of Records and few of the
values for a characteristic info-object "X".
4. Create BO Universe on SAP BI Query
5. Create Webi on BO Universe
6. Create a Prompt on the characteristic info-object "X".
7. Check List of Values for the characteristic info-object "X" in SAP
BI Query and WebI.
8. LOVs in WebI are equal to the values used for restriction in the
restricted key figure.
9. Delete the restricted key figure from SAP BI Query.
10. Refresh Universe
11. Webi prompt shows all the values for the prompt on "X".

Performance Issue with Webi report uses SAP BI Query as the data source

Hello.
I have created a Webi ad-hoc report which connects to a SAP BI query through BO OLAP universe.
The layout of Webi is the exactly the same as the BI query. There are filters in the Webi to restrict the number of data extraction, but even with data result of 5000 rows, it took about 30 seconds.
If I execute the BI query with the same filter restriction, it tooks less than 10 seconds.
It seems that large percentage of time is consumed at the MDX part.
Is there any tuning method that could speed up the process time of MDX?

It includes references to various performance improvements of the MDX interface. From what I saw there it is advisable to upgrade your SAP BI (7.0) up to at least Support Package 21 (you are currently on SP 15).
This may also be interesting for you: There is a new Fix Pack 1.4 coming out for BOBJ XI 3.1. Combined with the related SAP Enh.Pack (not sure about the version of this one) should also improve WebI performance. This fix pack is not yet officially released though but it should not take look.
I recommend that you try the upgrade to Support Package 21 first.
BTW it is also advisable to take a look in the results of your MDX query (e.g using the MDXTEST transaction). You should make sure that your query is indeed restricted as expected. Sometimes the results you see in SAP native reporting tools (e.g. BEx Analyzer) differ from those returned from the MDX component, depending on the way variables/restrictions where defined in the query designer. It is all about making sure that there is no apples/oranges comparison here.

Error While Run the WebI Report on SAP BW Query

I have build the universe on SAP BW Query . I built the same universe on the SAP BW DEV and SAP BW Test
When I tried to run the WEBI Report on the Universe which is built on the SAP BW Test
WebI Report is prompting for the below values
Calendar Year
Profit Center
Profit Center Hierarchy
Version.
Here I can see the List of values for the Calendar Year and Profit Center. Its giving me below error when I look for list of values for the Profit Center and Profit Center Hierarchy.

My Questions:
1.     Why I am getting this error. Because of authentication or configurations set on the Profit Center and Profit Center Hierarchy objects? If so , please let me know what I need to set?
When I tried to run the same WEBI Report on universe which build on SAP BW Dev Query. I can see list of values for the Calendar Year, Version, Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy.
But when I selected the values and tried to run the report. I got below error.

- the BI Query in the Test system is running correct and all the variables do work ?
     Yes, BI Query is working fine in the Test System and I can see all the variables too
In BI Query I can see values for Calendar Year, Version, Profit Center, Profit Center Hierarchy

   No,
   I can only see values for the Calendar Year & Version in the Web Intelligence Prompt.

Webi Report Against SAP BW Query Fails When Scheduled

I'm facin a problem with all my Web intelligence Reports. When i refresh them on demand from view or design mode, everything works fine, but when i schedule them all instances fails with this error:

Hi Ingo,
All the authorizations for crystal report to fetch data is in place, and crystal report refresh and schedule runs success fully. The issue is only in Web Intelligence.
If it is same as crystal report we should see similar results for crystal report, which is not the case as of now. Crystal report refreshes without any error and we can able to schedule it without any problem.
As it is said earlier, SAP secuirty guy doesnt find any missing authorizations. It is very difficult to say which authorization is missing.

Crystal Report Missing SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query Connector

Hi,
I have installed SAP GUI for Windows 7.2 (Compilation 2) and Crystal Report 2008 SP2 then following by installed SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 on my workstation. However, when i launch my Crystal Report designer, it do shows SAP toolbar however when i click on one of the icon (eg: Setting) the entire CR will hung and prompt me error and exit automatically.
Beside that, i could not find any connector for SAP (Eg: SAP InfoSet, SAP BW Query and etc) when i create a new blank report by click on the New Connection.
Appreciated anyone know this could assist on this.

By the way, i saw your post regarding the Integration Kits installation and configuration. However, i still need some clarification; appreciated you could assist me on this.
I have installed SAP BOXI3.1 SP3 on an LINUX machine (Redhat Enterprise 5) and the server was running fine without connecting to BW or SAP eCIBS.
Now, i have to establish the connectivity to BW (InfoCuve and BW Query) and SAP eCIBS system. As my customer requirement was required to using WEBI, CR and Xcelsius for connecting to BW for getting the data and then using scheduler in BOE for performing report distribution. Some of the report will connecting to SAP eCIBS directly and that will using our Client's machine for creating the report (using CR2008) and then publish to the BOE platform for report scheduling and distribution.
My question, i wish to install SAP Inter Kits and downloaded Inter. Kits for SAP Solution 3.1 SP3 from service market place. When i refer to the document from help.sap.com; there are couple of section but i wish to know which are the perquisite section that i wish to install and configure?
Eg: System Requirement which are installing SAP RFC SDK and SAP JCO SDK into my BOE server, then following my create a logon token. How to to that? It also require to install SAP Java Connector and SAP GUI, does these two available for LINUX OS as well?
The steps in doc was confuse, appreciated your kind help.

Run-Time error '-2147417848 (80010108) in Crystal Report on SAP BW Query

I have installed Crystal Report 2008 SP1 and the Business Objects Integration kit for 3.1 but when I try to create a report on top of an SAP BW query using the toolbar, after entering the logon parameters for SAP BW, I get a error message :
Run-Time error '-2147417848 (80010108)
Automation error
The object invoked has disconnected from its clients.
CR exits after this error message.
I have tried uninstalling the Kit and CR, cleaning up the registry, and installing it again and still got this error message - It is the same for all my SAP BWs.
Anyone ever had this?

Crystal Report 2008 V1 SP3 and SAP Integration Kits 3.1 SP3 installed on my client machine.
I can open SAP BW Query in Crystal Report. However, in the Field Explorer >Database Fields, I dont see to be able to expan the Query and see it Key Figure/Characteristic.
I noticed this happen only if we have Variable defined in the Charactics.
If the characteristic has no variable, then I can expand the Query under Database Fields.
Do you have this problem?

Yes, once I have imported the new SAP Integration Kits XI 3.1 SP3 transports into BW system, I can now expand the it.
I can now see the Variable in Crystal Report.

Crystal Report and SAP BW Query

I have developed the Crsytal Report (ontop of SAP BW Query), and save this report into my local c:\ drive.
Now I made some changes to the BW Query (this is the Datasource of my Crystal Report) to include new Key Figure and Characteristic via BEx Query Designer.
Now when I open my existing Crystal Report, I dont get see the new key Figure/Characteristics that I just included to the BEx Query. Why? Is this bug? How can we update the Crystal Report automatically when the underline BEx Query has changed?

We have similar case when the underline BEx query has been changed.
In our case, the Variable value is not appear in CR.
Example, a Variable has been created and assigned to the Cost Centre.
In BEx Query, I can see the value of the Cost Centre and can therefore select the value from the Variable field.
In CR, I have the Cost Centre prompt as parameters, but there is no value for me to select.
Database Verify has been performed.
Anyone come across this?

How to remove Decimals in Quantity Objects in SAP BO Explorer View created on top SAP Bex Query?

I created SAP BO Explorer report on top of SAP BEx Query.
In SAP BEx Query, Decimals were hided but when i created OLAP Universe on top that SAP BEx Query and Created Index on top of Information Space in SAP BO Explorer and then created Exploration Views. But i'm getting Decimals in my Exploration Views where as SAP BEx Query in RSRT, no decimals were appearing.
Can anyone suggest me how to remove decimals in SAP BO Exploration Views.

I am not use how you connect to SAP BEx query (Via universe or BWA or HANA)
What I could say is BWA and HANA, you cannot adjust this
For universe, you could try in universe layer, there is note about this
For BWA and HANA, this function might be enhanced but you 'd better raise OSS to SAP to check with them

Unable to use SSO with universe connection on top of SAP BW query

Hi,
We're creating a universe on top of a SAP BW query by using universe designer.
We logon to universe designer by using SAP credential.
When creating the connection, we set the option "Use Single Sign On when refreshing reports at view time" in order to logon to BW server. But when clicking next, an error arises:
"DBD: Unable to connect to SAP BW server Incomplete logon data"
The strange thing on this is that there is one laptop which is able to set up this kind of connection, while all other workstations are not able to set it because they recieve that error (we all work against the same BO server). So this looks like an installation issue.
We reinstalled SAP Integration Solutions on those workstations, but problem is still the same.
I found thread: Universe Connection Authentication on SAP BW which talks about the same issue, but solution involves uninstalling Xcelsius. But we do need Xcelsius!
Any suggestions?

Multiple Universes (based on SAP BI Query) & single WebI Report

Hi,
We build OLAP Universes on SAP BI Queries. One of the ways to consume multiple universes in a single WebI report is to "add query" from another universe into the same WebI page / another WebI tab for the report.
Is there a possibility to pick and choose fields from different Universes (based on SAP BI Queries), into a single WebI report ... of course respecting their technical linkage.

Hi Ingo,
We have created multiple subject Area Universes (based on SAP BI Queries). Is there a possibility to select a particular object from one of the Universe and another object from another Universe into the same grid eg. Notification Number from Work Management Universe (SAP BI Query based on Customer Service Data Flow / Multiprovider) and Invoice Number from Invoicing Universe (SAP BI Query based on Invoicing Data Flow / Multiprovider). Common aspects for both of these could be say a Customer Account Number.
As per my understanding, we cannot do this if we have created Universes on SAP BI Queries.
Nearest possible option is to display two tables on the same WebI report - one from Work Mgmt Universe and other from Invoicing Universe.

Performance Problems by using a subreport with a SAP BW Query

Hello Experts,
we have the following scenario:
- Crystal Reports Report (CRR) on top of a SAP BW Query
- SAP BW Query contains a member structure with Month, Year, Prior Year and total
If I now put some details of a dataset in the main report (e.g. key is project number) and the structure and the characteristic structure in a subreport (linked e.g. by the key project number), the CRR takes like 7,5 hours to display completely. If I don´t use a subreport it takes less then 10 minutes to display (in the preview section of Crystal Reports).
Is such a significant difference in run time normal ? I have to mention that the used query is quite complex (but this is unavoidable). And it seems also unavoidable to use the subreport to get the desired result in terms of formatting:
- if I don´t use the subreport and more than one characteristic for the details, the structure which is supposed to display the values for each projects like this

Year
Prior Year
Total
gets 'dissolved' - first, Month is listed for each project, than Year is listed for each project, etc. This is only avoidable if use only one characteristic and its attributes, but no other characteristics (that are no attribute to the first one). But of course this is not what the customer wants...
- so my only solution up to now is to list the desired details in the main report and then next to them the structure and the key figure data in the subreport, so that the structure is listed as in the query - but then as mentioned the performance is awful !

Have you tried using a join in the main report rather than using the subreport linked on the Project Key Code.
Try joining the query in the main report with the query in the subreport as a single query in the main report.

I am trying to create an crystal report from SAP BEx query( using MDX driver). I can able to connected to BEx query and got key figures and characterstics, but not able to get calculated key figures into crystal reports.
Would likes to know how to use the calculated key figures used at BEx query level in Crystal Reports? and
Creation of complex parametes in Crystal reports on SAP data.

Problem with a SAP BW Query and Webi

Hi all,
Does anybody knows the reason why when using webi to access a SAP BW query that prompts the user for
a date, it gives an error on the format? It seems the lov is not being populated correctly. If I write
manually the value the prompt expects, it works, but if you select one of the values of the list it doesn't.
The version is XIR2 and if you create a simple query everything seems to work fine.
Any idea?
I don't know if there is something to do with language parameters or something like that.

I will try to send you a screenshot, but I cannot do it at the moment because I am not at the customer site.
I'll try to explain what we get when we running the webi report.
The lov to select from retrievs data like "K41002008" that is supposed to be a date, but if you select this value the report fails. Instead of
selecting the value, if I manually write for instance "01/01/2008", the report works fine.
I don't know if this is useful.
Once I have more info to send, I'll do it right away.
