Hi Hope the below Url and stuff might help you. http://scn.sap.com/thread/3154248 Within TSM there is an "Options" file that has default parameters such as , SERVER NAME,  COM/METHOD, which is TCPIP, TCPPORT, TCPSERVERADDRESS, NODENAME, PASSWORDACCESS , etc. When TSM runs, the first thing it does is read the options file, otherwise the reault is the dump you received. Your best bet is find the directory for TSM, the options file is in there, then add your system information accordingly. You can find sample options files out there to give you some guidance. Cheers, Sharma

  • SAP DB2 performance issues

    Hello everyone,
I'm new in db2 for LUW and I have the following questions:
How can I check the total memory DB2 is using? I have STMM configured. I have two parameters DATABASE_MEMORY (automatic) and INSTANCE_MEMORY? Do I need to sum them?
I have many secuencial reads in SM50, any advices about how to proceed? (for standard/non standard reports/tables). In ST03N I have High Database time (almost 60% of the response time) any advices about how to proceed?
Any useful link will be appreciated.

  • SAP DB2 migration to 9.5 having issues after database restore

    Hello All,
We are migrating our database from version DB2 8.2 to 9.5. We have successfully migrated our environment. Now we are trying to restore the old backup of the database (8.2) to the migrated instance. The restore worked fine but it asked us to migrate the database. When we run the MIGRATE DATABASE command it returns the following error.
SQL1704N  Database migration failed.  Reason code "17". (SYSCAT tablespace space not enough)
But to extend the tablespace we are not able to connect to the database. We get the following error if we try to connect.
SQL5035N  The database requires migration to the current release.
So we cannot run either command. Can anyone please suggest how to resolve this issue?
    Deepak

    Hello Malte,
We are using the below commands for the backup and restore.
The backup was taken when the database was still at 8.2 version
db2 "backup database QA2 online to file1,file2,file3,file4,file5,file6,file7,file8,file9,file10,file11,file12 with 8 buffers parallelism 4 without prompting"
db2 restore db QA2 from /backupold/QA2-offline taken at 20090807001234 redirect
    db2 "ALTER TABLESPACE SYSCATSPACE ADD (FILE '/sapdata8/SYSCATSPACE.container002' 1000000 K) ON NODE ( 0 )"
    db2 "ALTER TABLESPACE SYSCATSPACE ADD (FILE '/sapdata8/SYSCATSPACE.container003' 1000000 K) ON NODE ( 0 )"
    db2 restore db QA2 continue
    db2qa2> db2 restore db QA2 continue
SQL1651N  The request cannot be executed because the DB2 server version does
    not support this functionality.
Hope this helps you provide soem inputs.
    Thanks
    Deepak

    Hi Jin-Chong
many thanks for you help. But the problem still persists.
    1. We don't have $ODBCINI. There are no conection issues at all. Connection is performed by IBM Data Server Client (db2client) db2 connect to ...
    2. For which stored procedures do we need to apply these Grants?  We manually exported the available historical data from the TrendingDB to CSV files, connected to the database server with db2 connect... (on the app server), imported these CSV with the same user, it all went smoothly. We granted some DML's to the database user. also granted DBADM and SECADM to the database user as well, just to be sure there are no permission issues.
The Error message seems to indicate There is a problem finding the correct driver for monitoring database, since it says,
          networkLayer    "ODBC"
            DBMS    "DB2"
    com.sap.connectivity.cs.core.CSError: Specified RDBMS is invalid : DB2.
    - Maby IBM Data Server Client (db2client) is not supported for monitoring database at all?
    - Do we have to install additional DB2 clients like DB2 CLI driver or ODBC client instead?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
thanks for the suggestion, but all permissions are ok.
The db2 user is in usbshare group:
    drwxrwxr-x 1 root usbshare 0 2008-04-28 10:00 APPS.
We cannot use NFS, the disk is not in a system, it's an external disk connected directly to the network.
Regards and thanks for the replies.
    Sonia.

    Finally we fixed this problem.
The problem was the user owner in this filesystem, the owner must be db2<sid>.

  • SAP Binaries Backup online or offline

    Hello!
I woulld like to know, how to execute the regular SAP OS backup and have the following questions regarding this issue:
    1) How often should I backup the SAP-Binaries-partition \usr\sap\...?
    (daily, weekly, 1 times month)
    2) Should the DB, SAP R/3 or some Services be stopped for this issue?
Do exist some file-locks avoiding offline backup of \usr\sap\... ?
    3) What should be backuped from \usr\sap\...?
    (trans, profiles)
    Thank you very much!
    regards
    Thom

    Hi Thom,
1). It's totally depend's on your system avilability(because you need to make the system offline), rest may be you can take OS level backup once in a month(standard practice with all the data centers).
2). Yes you better stop DB services and SAPOSCOL.
3). You can backup total dir structure and you better create one Emergency Repair Disk(ERD) in case of windows.
    Regards,
    Hari.
PS: Awarding points will get you some points.

  • Db2 backup on aix

    Hi,
We are running SAP on AIX 5.3 AND db2 udb 8.2.3. We have taken full offline backup from OS level. e.g. /usr, /sapmnt, /usr/sap/trans, /home, /db2/<SID>, /db2/log_dir etc. May i restore the backup on another server without installing DB2 software? and run the SAP? or do we need to re-install DB2 & SAP again and then restore the database backup?
    Please guide.
    -SN

    Hi Jennifer,
it is much easier and less error prone to do a system copy with the build in DB2 backup and restore commands. Copying DB2 by copying files from one server to the other should only be done by experienced DB2 administrators and in most cases there is no need to do this. For example using the wrong OS tools may create sparse allocated DB2 container files and can create unexpected error situations.
The DB2 V8 software installer on AIX uses the OS installer. The DB2 V8 software is installed under /opt and the /db2/db2<sid>/sqllib directory contains links to this directory. Therefore it is not enough to copy the /usr/sap ; /sapmnt and /db2 directories. With DB2 V8 the software installtion directory is fixed. With DB2 V9+ the software can be installed in any directory and as a default new SAPINST versions install the DB2 software under  /db2/db2<sid> .
To do a cold copy of DB2 you may also need to use the db2inidb and db2relocated tools ( mostly used for split mirror copies ), especially if you want to rename your dbsid. You can find more information about those tools in the DB2 docu. The SAP utility brdb6brt ( note 867914 ) may also provide some help.

  • DB2 backup alternatives

    Hi Friends,
I´am very new in DB2.  I would like to know some alternatives for the DB2 database backup.
Could be an option to make an offline backup of all the file systems related to db2 in order to restore consistently?
    What could be the impact?
We can assume that DB2 is down.
    Thanks in advance
    Enrique Sánchez

    Hi,
As like other database, you should take offline, online and archive log backup regularly to maintain the consistency of your landscape. Offline backup depends upon whether system is production, quality etc. as during offline backup system will not be available so you can plan for every month or every 15 days..depends upon your business requirement.
Online backup and archive log backup should be scheduled daily.
E.g: if you have taken offline backup one month back and after that system crashed then you should restore with online backup and apply archive logs for point in time recovery.
Please check following book for backup on DB2:
    [Db2 Admin Guide|http://maben.homeip.net/static/computers/sap/DB2/SAP%20on%20IBM%20DB2%20Universal%20database%20for%20UNIX%20and%20Windows%20Admin%20NW04.pdf]
    Thanks

  • DB2 Backup & Restore Method

    Hi Gurus,
I have a source system which is ECC6 running on Windows Server 2008 & DB2 9.7 FP2 database. I want to build or copy the exact system to diffrent office. I have done a fulloffline backup on the server. The target system will be suselinux and same database which is DB9.7FP2.
So i have install a ECC6 system on the target system with same System ID,Hostname as the sourse system. . I am not sure what to do next. Please guide me how to restore the database using the full offline backup that i done on the sourse system.
Basically i am just doing a system copy but using the backup restore method.

    Hi,
Assuming you're performing system copy by using db2 backup/restore method.
If you would like to take a complete set of (online) backup image which you can restore, rollforward and bring the db into consistent state, you can use "INCLUDE LOGS" option of db2 backup command.
The backup image would include the range of log files required to restore and roll forward this image to some consistent point in time with this option.
On the other hand, you can specify a path to be searched for required logs during recovery. There's an option "OVERFLOW LOG PATH" for rollforward command.
For this issue u will get more information for below link

"ERROR - The shared restore point operation failed with error (0x81000101)
The creation of a shadow copy has timed out. Try again this operation."
If you receive the above error in your report, we have recently found a registry key which
contains the timeout value set by Microsoft for VSS and found that you can edit this to extend it.
To get to the registry key, open Regedit (Start > Run > Regedit) and browse to:
    "HKLM\Software\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\SPP\\CreateTimeout".
    Change value to 1200000 (2*10*60*1000 = 20 mins).
The default for the timeout period is 10 mins so hopefully doubling this will give enough time to
    complete the snapshot.
If this isn't present, you'll need to manually enter the registry key. It's a DWORD 32-bit key.

Should we run the "FIXVSS08.BAT" script - restarts services and re-registers DLL's - does this ever help?
Will this server need a reboot since VSS is in a state and we can't even test backups?
Is there a tool we can use to debug VSS or troubleshoot or OS backups further?
MSReport/Diag, VSS debugging, or another way of helping fix our OS(SystemState/C: drive) backup issues?
Any help is greatly appreciated - thx.

    Scot Pichelman

    Hi Scot,
Sometimes a third party backup application will change the default VSS provider adding VSS writers which causes Windows Server Backup using an incorrect component in doing backup, that's why I suggest to delete it for a test. Anyway you can reinstall it
    after testing.
And as you said a high-load CPU could also be the cause of the issue so you may need to first rule hardware effective out.
If issue still exists, please try the steps below as well:
    1. Please check DCOM Server Process Launcher service is started.
    2. If not, try to change RPC service to run as SYSTEM account. To do this please modify the following key:
Note: Backup the key before edit incase it cause any issue.
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\RpcSs\
Find "ObjectName" and change the value to LocalSystem.
Reboot to see if DCOM back to work and if Windows Server Backup starts working. If not, please provide the result if there is any new error occurs.
If DCOM still not work, please compare the content of the following key with a working server:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\OLE
Edit if there is any difference and make sure you created a backup of the key before editing.

  • Central instance can not startup when i install the SAP /DB2 9 env

    Hi,
could  anybody help me?   I just installed the SAP /db2 V9.1 on HACMP cluster envrioment . By now , the SCS, ASCS, DB instance installation have been  OK, Unfortunately , an
error occurs when I installed the CI.
the error message is that "ABAP Database db must be started on remote server "  i check the trans.log , the error message is "DbSlConnect to 'AE1' as 'sapae1' failed"  the detail informatioin ,please check the the following trans.log.  but i can startup and activate the database, i can connect to db with sapae1 and sapae1 user with password.
first i install the DB2 software and db2 instance with the virtual hostname dbae1. i found the hostname in the db2cfg.log is not virtual hostname but physical name. i don't know what happens.  In order to keep the hostname the same, i installed the CI on sapaix01, the error message is the same as before.  i have upgrade the sap kernel and reinstall the CI again, the error is the same as before too Could you give me some suggestion.
First  let me describe our cluster enviroment
For CI, and DI are not a Single point of failure  , so the DI and CI
are out of cluster.     The cluster enviroment just includes the
SCSASCS and DB instance. SCSASCS is installed on sapaix02, DB instance is installed on sapaix01

    I have another questions
    *      whether does DB2 9.1  support installation on the diffirence

    /db2/db2ae1/V9)?
    *      Whether does DB2 9 installation has some relationship with

    Hi,
have you tried to connect on the command line (instead of using R3trans) ?
    db2 connect to AE1 user sapae1 using .....
If this works and you have verified that the DB2DB6EKEY is set properly, use dscdb6up to update the password in the password file dscbd6.conf.
Then try again to use R3trans to connect.
    Best regards,
