  • Difference Between SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP Solution

    Dear Experts,
We are in the process of implementing a new SAP Structure.
We are taking a hosted model from vendor which is called SBH (Subscription Based Hosting) of SAP Solution
So my question to all experts is that, what is the exact difference between SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP Solution SBH model.
If any comparison chart,  it would be helfull.
    Do reply asap.
    Thanks in advance,
    Nilesh Jain

    Hi Nilesh,
Looking at the image below, you will find out that ECC6 is under SAP ERP, and SAP ERP is under SAP Solution:
SAP solution is of a bigger element and ECC 6 is a component of it.

  • Differences between SAP 4.7, SAP ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0

  • Using the Open Catalog Interface (OCI) between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM

    Hello ASUG Community.
I'm working on an SAP-MDM project where we will configure the OCI interface between SAP-ECC 6.0 and SAP-MDM.  The business requirement will be to punch out to SAP-MDM's catalog from SAP-ECC for expensed items (e.g., no material master record exists in SAP-ECC).
The data that will be returned to SAP-ECC will be purchase price info, material group, short text, & our global SAP-MDM item number.
The question I've been trying to design around is "where to store the SAP-MDM item number"?
I've looked into creating a custom filed on EKPO but now feel that a configured text field will be the best solution from an SAP-ECC point of view (less effort on the SAP-ECC side from a development perspective, no need to regenerate the EKPO table, etc.).
The question I'd like to pose to ASUG is.... Does anyone have experience or an opinion to offer using this functionality?  It seems that I will have to code in a user exit or BAdi to insure that the SAP-MDM item numbers are returned to the appropriate text field on my POu2019s.  Or can this be done using the standard OCI functionality?
I found OSS note 1347656 which references BADI "ME_CATALOG_INTERFACE" but I'm not sure if this right path to go down or if this would be the correct place to code non-conforming OCI mapping requiremetns.
Any insight would be most appreciated.
    Thanks.  Sincerely,
    Rich Wortmann

I would suggest you create a new field for this as you may require thois going forward for reporting as well. Text fields are difficult to report.
Sorry not sure about the BADI to use.

PPDS: I have a setup matrix in SAP ECC 6.0, and want to transfer the same to APO using Core Interface. Has anyone done it before?

    Hi Subhash,
Please open this link to see the details:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/EN/89/bd3e42ce98033be10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
You perform the data transfer in the following sequence:
    Plant
    Setup groups
    Work centers
    Routings
You check the setup groups in SAP APO.
You create the setup matrixes in SAP SCM.

  • What are the best ways (for best performance) in MII to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?

    Hi All,
Can you please suggest to choose the best ways (for best performance) in MII (12.2 on NW 7.3), to process the incoming process messages from shop floor systems to SAP ECC 6.0 and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi Surya,
Best practices for flow of data from ECC --> SAP MII --> Shop floor & Vice verse:
    1. Send ECC data through IDOC's/RFC's as messages to SAP MII message listener and BSL transaction process data and update directly on shop floor database as if you configured in Data services or later send those data by web service to shop floor system (i.e. depends on Shop floor machines).
    From Shop floor:
shop floor --> SAP MII --> ECC
    1. Use either Web service or fetch data from DB and pass data to BAPI's  for sending to ECC through BLS transaction.

  • R/3 Enterprise v mySAP ERP 2003 v ECC 5.0 v mySAP ERP 2004

    Dear All,
We are finalizing a proposal to upgrade our ancient SAP 3.1H system. Fortunately there are a number of options available to us and we need to know the differences between them.
We would be very grateful if anyone has any information regarding the PRO's and CON's of each of the above options in the subject title e.g.
what are the differences between mySAP ERP 2003 and 2004?
Is there a web page or document that summarises this information? What are the advantages of ECC5?
And the big question, what is the best way we can justify to our board an upgrade to anything higher than SAP4.7??
Any links/suggestions/documentation would be greatly appreciated.
    Nigel Blanchard
    Business Analyst

    Hi Nigel,
Just to help narrow down you decision: ECC 5.0 is part of mySAP ERP 2004 so this is one choice. My suggestion would be to go to the latest version that you are comfortable with. Most companies are choosing mySAP ERP 2004 over SAP R?3 Enterprise (the 4.7 release you mentioned). There are a few companies who are planning for mySAP ERP 2005 which just entered ramp up.
It really comes down to two factors: What business functionality would you like to have access to and how leading edge does your company want to be?
The safe choice is mySAP ERP 2004 but if your company does not do upgrade with high frequencies (i.e. still on 3.1H) you may want to consider the mySAP ERP 2005 release.
Customers are really happy mySAP ERP 2004, I would suggest that you ask the question to some of the SAP user groups (like ASUG). They should be able to confirm this.
    Cheers,
    Mike.

  • SAP ECC 6.0 and BW 3.1

    Hi,
We are going to an upgrade from SAP 4.6C to ECC 6.0, and we are going to leave the BW in 3.1.
    There is any problem?
Does the BW needs also an upgrade?
Can you help me on this mather.
    Kind regards,
    Nuno Silva

BW itself should continue to work without any problems.
If you convert your ERP after (or during) the upgrade to Unicode you will need to reflect in the BW that it's talking to a Unicode system.

  • Compatibility between SAP ECC 6.0 and LDAP

    Hi,
Does the current version of SAP ECC 6.0 has any dependency on the Domain and Forest Functional Level of Active Directory?
Currently the Domain Functional Level is Windows 2000 native and the Forest Functional Level is Windows 2000.
The Domain and Forest Functional Level will be raised to Windows Server 2003.
While raising the Domain and Forest Functionality level to Windows 2003 provides additional features and capabilities as far as Active Directory enhancement it does not cause any issues with the application as such.
It will be a good idea to confirm from SAP if there are any dependencies on this.
Please do let me know if you need more information or any help from me.
    Thanks,
    Saurabh

  • Diff in SAP ECC 6.0 and Netweaver

    Hi Experts,
I am working as SAP ABAP Consultant.
I am new to SAP Netweaver with JAVA. I want to Learn SAP with JAVA also.
Can any one tell me whether the SAP 6.0 is used for SAP NetWeaver developement with java
or it needs some more than SAP ECC 6.0 for ABAP.
Which java is used mostly in SAP?
How to start learn JAVA for SAP?
    Awaiting helpful reply
    Thanks In  advance,
    Dhanu

    Hi Dhananjay,
The SAP NetWeaver Application Server (SAP NetWeaver AS) defines the runtime environment both for Java- and ABAP-based applications in SAP NetWeaver. We refer to the Java-related parts of the server as SAP NetWeaver AS Java. The main part of SAP NetWeaver AS Java is the SAP J2EE Engine, a complete runtime system that can host applications in compliance with the J2EE 1.3 standard.
The SAP J2EE Engine supports all the techniques that became popularized by J2EE - JavaServer Pages, servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs), etc. - so that applications can be ported with minimal effort to SAP NetWeaver AS Java. However, SAP NetWeaver AS Java offers additional functionality on top of what is required in the J2EE 1.3 standard.
Where should I store database tables of my combined ABAP/Java system?
The important information here is: Please keep the database storage of your Java- and ABAP-based components separate:
ABAP components access database tables stored in the “ABAP” database schema.
Java components access database data stored in the “Java” database schema.
Best, there is one database instance keeping both ABAP and Java schemas, namely the database instance that is already pre-configured during the SAP Web AS installation.
Can my Java program modify data in the ABAP database schema?
The important constraint is: In general, Java components do not access tables stored in the ABAP schema directly, via persistence APIs (for example, JDBC). Analogously, ABAP components cannot manipulate data in the Java schema.
Don’t worry: Of course, Java components can read or modify data in the ABAP schema. But rather than accessing table data directly, they are intended to go around: In the Java code, you apply the application-level APIs (like SAP Java Resource Adapter API, web services, Adaptive RFC for Web Dynpro UIs) and ask the ABAP component to do the work on the database.
Can I integrate Java and ABAP components in the scope of an application?
Of course, you can combine Java and ABAP components in your systems. There are several technologies enabling reliable data exchange between them, like SAP Java Connector (SAP JCo), SAP Java Resource Adapter (SAP JRA), web services, and SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) to name some.
The below link helps u in understanding the connectors of java and sap.
    Using the SAP Java Connector
SAP’s new Java middleware, the SAP Java Connector (JCO) allows customers and partners to easily build SAP-enabled components in Java. JCO supports both inbound (Java calls ABAP) and outbound (ABAP calls Java) calls in desktop and server applications.
In this Sample Program we connect to SAP and call two BAPIs.
Import statements: Any program using JCO should contain the following import statement:
    import com.sap.mw.jco.*;
Otherwise, you have to fully qualify each class and interface which is very inconvenient.
    Connecting to SAP
    JCO.Client mConnection;
A connection (or session) with SAP is handled by class JCO.Client
    try {
    mConnection =
    JCO.createClient("400", // SAP client
    "c3026902", // userid
    "********", // password
    "EN", // language
    "iwdf5020", // host name
    "00"); // system number
    mConnection.connect();
    catch (Exception ex) {
    ex.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
"A Client object is created via a call to createClient(). You can use a specific application server (as in the above code) or a server group (load balancing)." REFER the JCO Javadoc for the overloaded createClient() method for the latter possibility.
"The Client class's connect () method tries to log on to SAP. If that fails for any reason, an exception is thrown. If the call succeeds, we can now stay connected for as long as we like. When we are done, we can call disconnect () to explicitly log off."
    Thankyou
    Regards.

  • File system for SAP ECC, EP , BI and CRM installation on Solaris/DB2

    Hello,
We are going to implement SAP ECC 6.0 with EP 7, BI and CRM on Solaris operating system with IBM DB2 database.
All these applications are going to be installed on single server, as being a basis person, I know this is not all recommended.
But due to client's requirement and keeping cost factor in mind I need to install all these application on single box.
Now here I need your help. as I basis person, I know the required Solaris file system for SAP ECC 6.0 but not having any Idea about other application like EP/ CRM and BI .
If anyone able to help me with required Solaris file system. it will be great help.
Please let me know if there is any query.
    Thanks.

    > All these applications are going to be installed on single server, as being a basis person, I know this is not all recommended.
    > But due to client's requirement and keeping cost factor in mind I need to install all these application on single box.
Why not using Solaris zones/container? This decreases the administrative amount tremendeously since you will deal as with "single machines" but they all run together on one box.
    > Now here I need your help. as I basis person, I know the required Solaris file system for SAP ECC 6.0 but not having any Idea about other application like EP/ CRM and BI .
So you'd need to read the installation guides

  • A universe from SAP ECC 6.0 and SAP BW 7.3... Possible?

    Hello,
    We are looking to create one universe from two SAP data sources;
    1) SAP ECC 6.0 with EHP5 and
    2) SAP BW 7.3
    Can this be done?
In UDT there is a SAP BW connection that can satisfy need for cubes but connection to ECC is a challenge.
I think it's possible in in CR 2011 but exploring webi options.
Any suggestion / work around ?.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
With Feature Pack 03 (ramp up registration open now, and RU starts ~16 March), you will be able to use IDT driver to access ECC (R/3) data. and generate a universe.
In the current, 4.0 SP02 Patch2.x codeline,  you cannot do the above.
today, You can create a Multi Source-enabled Universe (UNX in IDT)  for relational BW-SQL access to underlying BW table schema  (by passing OLAP engine and all BEx semantic concepts.)
But - if you have the XI 3.1 Data Federator product already -  then you can go from IDT, and use the DF XI3.1 as a datasource into a UNX universe.
I have not tried combining BW-SQL and DF 3.1 connections into a MSU universe.
Yes, using CR 2011, you can consume ECC.
I'd recommend joining ramp up (go via your account team) and evaluating the new features asap.

  • SAP ECC 6.0 and Oracle 10.2.0.2 (64bit)

    Hi,
I'm running the above setup. I've found the Oracle patch18 at the SAP support site. How do I know whether the SAP ECC 6.0 is certified for the patch18 ? Or if the patch18 is available for download, does that mean it's already been certified ?
    Please advise.
    TIA !

    Hi,
I think you're talking about two different things here:
I need to know the official link whereby SAP says...Ok, ECC 6.0 is certified to run on Oracle 10.2.0.4...I'll not patch Oracle for the sake of patching as that may impact my live SAP.
Oracle versions certified for a SAP release can be found in the SAP Product Availability Matrix (http://service.sap.com/PAM).
How do I know whether the SAP ECC 6.0 is certified for the patch18 ? Or if the patch18 is available for download, does that mean it's already been certified ?
Interim patches are not certified for SAP releases. If a SAP release supports for instance 10.2.0.4, then it supports any interim patch (as certified and bundled by SAP) for 10.2.0.4. The only restriction is that you must obtain the patches from SAP and not directly from Oracle.
    Hope this helps,
    Mark

  • BW Netweaver 2004 upgrade and mySAP ERP

What makes the most sense to do the BW 3.5 and BW NetWeaver upgrade before, after or at same time as the mySAP ERP upgrade

I would upgrade before or after because it's not effected to the real data, any thing goes wrong with Cubes and ODS we can reconstruct and load the data from OLTP. Performing before would give you an edge of upgrade to NW.
Key point is to make sure Plug-ins support to the BW version.
