Hi,
Can anybody throw some light on how to implement PCP ( personnel cost planning) and how it is different from ECM. appreciate if you can share some documents or presentations on PCP and integration of PCP with benefits.

Enterprise Compensation Management:
Enterprise Compensation Management (PA-EC) is a comprehensive solution combining both R/3 and web-based technologies that helps you:
·        Plan remuneration policies effectively and keep costs under control while remaining competitive.
·        Motivate and retain your employees, allowing them to contribute to the success of your company.
·        Create and allocate budgets.
·        Handle job pricing with the new salary survey tool.
You can either implement the new Enterprise Compensation Management component (PA-EC) or migrate from the old Compensation Management component (PA-CM), but you cannot run the old component and the new one in parallel.
Personnel Cost Planning:
This process shows you how to plan personnel costs using target specifications or basic pay, including vacant or part-time positions. The goal of Personnel Cost Planning is to support various cost planning processes. Once the personnel cost planning process is completed for your company, you can transfer the desired plan process to budget planning for the entire company.
You can use data Personnel Cost Planning as part of ECM for bottom-up budgeting.

    1) Go to BAPI transaction and navigate through the tree structure to open up ECM.
    method 2)
    Goto se37 .
    Give * and press f4.
    IN the pop up chose sap applications.
    Chsoe ecm node an open it to find the relevant bapis.

    Hello Everyone,
    1) Iam New to Interactive forms by Adobe.I want to use this for SAP Engineering Change Management Process.
        I heard that there will be a standard form available in Out of the Box SAP.
        Can someone guide where can i find the Standard form in SAP system.
    2) In Configuration side(Tcode spro) for Engineering Change Management where do i need to configure to activate these forms.
    3) What are the system prerequisites(Any specific Licensing required) to use Adobe forms.

  • ECM project, what to do with MSS? Please guide me what to do?

    Hello Everyone,
                          I have set myself a goal to learn and implement ECM at my company by myself. I have started reading very informative documents posted on my old friend/colleague u201CKevin Nguyen-Tu u201Cwebsite. Kev, you are doing great man. I have your email, will write you sometime in details.
    Here is the deal, my company is running ESS and we are using bunch of services. In order to implement ECM, I need to have MSS? right ?If so, what is the minimum thing I can do so I can spend more time reading and configuring ECM then MSS?
    Please share your experiences, thoughts, suggestion that how should I proceed. I set myself a target of one year. We are running some other application and bunch of excel sheets to do that all stuff and compensating employees.  I want to prepare a demo, so I can show it to management and tell them that what SAP ECM can do.
    I also set my eyes on following book about ECM releasing in October 2008.

    but our role here is to guide as much as possible..or atleast redirect them to other links..or even pose questions in return asking for more detailed explaination..coz sometimes people even dont know what they need exactly..

  • GetContextURL returns null using the default ECM repository

    Hello experts,
    This is the scenario.
    We are using the SAP ECM repositoy for document storage in our BPM proyect. In this case we are using the default configuration and repository location  (ecm/default  and DefaultUser), but after the upload, when i try to get the document URL with the method getContentURL(), returns null.
    The ECM documentarion saids than this condition is expected when using a third party repostiory, but this is not the case.

    Hi Vasil,
    We didn't resolve this issue by this method, because we are using the default ECM repository witch doesn't support the operation getContextURL() and gets the "null" result. If you are using a different repository maybe works.
    Re-checking the API specification, saids:
    getContentURL
    java.lang.String getContentURL() throws InvalidStateException, RepositoryException  Returns a URL that can be used to retrieve the content directly from the respective backend, thus bypassing ECM. Note that this URL might have several restrictions which depend on the connector's backend store, such as a limited lifetime or requiring a user to authenticate with different credentials than the ones used to connect to ECM. Other stores might provide no content URL at all, in which case this method returns null. Applications might want to consider utilizing the ECM WebDAV server to present their users a URL that is located on the same system as ECM.  
    Finally, you would consider to expose a webservice (EJB Session Bean) witch encapsulates the ECMI implementation and extract your file content as a binary array (encode/decode), sending as the input your path/fileName for lookup in the ECM repository.

    Currently I am implementing SAP ECM.I am getting an error when I try to generate budgets for employees.
    The error is :The currency setting in table T7PM2 differs from the system configuration.
    Could anyone please let me know how I can resolve this issue ?

  • ECM Implementation: Custom Infotype instead of IT1005 Planned Compensation

    Hello,
    We are thinking about implementing SAP ECM (incl. MSS). I have seen that OM Infotype 1005 (Planned Compensation) is required to get salary ranges for example.
    In our current OM solution we already have this information stored in a custom Infotype. Does anyone have experience using custom infotypes instead of standard ones in the ECM solution?

    Hi Lucas,
    Not sure how you are set-up if not using Pay Scale Grades and Levels.  Do you use T710 or T510 at all?  What values are in IT0008 for these fields? 
    In any other change in status other than Activation, the report only changes IT0759-Compensation Program.  So Pay Scale Grade and Level should not be a factor.  If activating the Compensation Program infotype (IT0759), the report is trying to create a new IT0008, so your settings for Features such as TARIF and LGMST and any custom BAdIs should be checked to make sure the IT0008 can be created as required by your customization.  Even so, we use transaction PECM_CHANGE_STATUS (Report RHECM_CHANGE_PROC_STATUS) to activate bonus payments which are not linked to IT0008 but to IT0015 and so they are not tied to a Pay Scale Group or Level.
    Thus, I would need more info to determine why you are experiencing the error message.

  • New business requirement for ECM changes to BOM item detail

    Hello SAP ECM gurus,
    I need your guidance on below requirement from the customer in ECM.
    We have 'Date effectivity' in our system i.e. object changes become effective on 'valid from' date.
    We also have a custom enhancement where BOM header status is controlled by the 'post approval' process via workflow.
    i.e. BOM status is changed to 11 when 'Complete Change' status is set on OMR and changed back to '01' automatically when 'Release Change' is set on OMR.
    We have a new requirement from business as described below:
    For ex:
    2 components (COMP1 & COMP2) are added to BOM through ECR1 effective from 01-AUG-2011 till Infinity
    2 more components (COMP3 & COMP4) will be added to the same alternate through ECR2 effective from 01-SEP-2011 till Infinity.
    ECR1 changes are made and OMR status set to 'Complete Changes' changes i.e. BOM status is 11 effective from 01AUG2011 till Infinity.
    At this point of time, ECR2 is created. When changes are being made to the same BOM using ECR2, COMP1 & COMP2 (added through ECR1) appear in the BOM.
    This is not desirable for the customer. They do not want to see COMP1 & COMP2 to appear when changes are being made to ECR2 as ECR1 is still not post approved. They expect COMP1 & COMP2 to appear in the BOM only when ECR1 is post approved.
    How can we control effectivity of COMP1 & COMP2 such that, they become available in the system ONLY WHEN  'Release Change' is set on OMR?
    Can 'Parameter Effectivity' be used in this scenario?

    Let me describe it more specific, I have two material FG and SFG. Material FG is maintained with valuation type so when we do goods receipt for SFG it's asked to input valuation type in batch field. In stock SFG material qty is separated for each valuation type like batch.
    Now i want to maintain in BOM for FG, where component SFG has fix the valuation type / batch so that in production order we don't have to choose manually. Do you have any idea ?

  • Bug on class CL_HRECM00_PLANNING_SERVICES - method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES ?

    Hi there,
    we are developing a solution for SAP ECM, and we are using some of the existing classes SAP provides within the ECM module. the method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES (from class CL_HRECM00_PLANNING_SERVICES) returns all employees linked to a certain org unit eligible for a given review period.
    It returns direct reports and managers of the direct sub org units.
    The problem is that the method COLLECT_EMPLOYEES_FOR_PLANNING is skipping the part where the managers are obtained, in the scenario where there are no employees linked to the selected org unit.
    Has anybody noticed that before? Is it anything SAP is working on to get solved? Any easy workaround?
    To reproduce the problem you can execute the method GET_ELIGIBLE_EMPLOYEES selecting any org unit with no employees (It should have a manager and dependent org units with managers, though). See the results --> no employees selected.
    If you take other org unit with dependent org units and also employees, the managers of the direct sub org units are returned

  • ECR/ECO problem with automated transactions

    Hi Friends,
    I have problem with automated close of ECR.
    Description:
    I have change number with one object - Inspection Plan.
    In CC32 when "Incorrect Change" is set and I click "Erro Corrected" - nothink happen
    (it should show popup with information that transaction cc06 was automated started)
    After that when i choose "Release Change" - also nothing happen.
    (it should shop popup and set status - "Close ECO")
    Everything works ok on sandbox system but on Dev/Test/Prod it doesn't work.
    Anybody now where could be a problem?

  • ECR/ECO Authorization on system statuses - Coding help requested

    HI PLM Gurus,
    Unfortunately ( or that ,,,Iam not aware of)There is no SAP standard Authorization object to control a user setting a particular system status in ECR/ECO. This means by SAP's standard functionality any user who is authorized  with authorization objects  ECM_REQ and ECM_ORD  in their role  and all activities allowed, can set any statuses in ECR /ECO.
    But typical business requirment in any change management requires the control status wise and so do we have one.
    We knew this can be achieved by a custom authorization object. We have created a manual object  but need help with coding to get the current status of the object for matching the authorization (allowed) values .
    Any help is appreciated.

    Just to clarify ,I knew about the exit  and  Iam using the same exit, I was trying to get help on the coding part . Identifying Exit is not a problem .( we have used this exit a number of times for different requirements in ECM, like checking the lab/office field for an object before setting a system status , defaulting a  new version of document  etc)
    Update : Got a parameter ( a dynamic field value)which helped us code very easily
    ,,,,Can share with you .
    For system level authorization checks ,one can use Digital signatures and this might be the reason for not having(SAP not providing) a standard authorization object for "system status check "in Standard SAP ECM Authorizations.

    As I know A SAP DMS consultant should have knowledge of Web DMS, Easy DMS. So in same way is it necessary to have knowledge of SAP ECM.

    Enterprise content management is a systematic approach via a set of tools/methods that enable an enterprise/organization to capture,organize, store and deliver information crucial to its operations.This can be via solutions like SAP DMS,SAP Arhcivelink,SAP Enterprise portal,Open Text,Records Management Sytems,Documentum,Livelink et-al.
    Document Management has some overlap with the concepts of other types of Content Management and is often viewed as a component of Enterprise Content Management Systems.
    Coming back to your question, SAP EP/DMS are themselves components of  Enterprise content management system.
    P.S. ECM in SAP parlance stands for Engineering Change Mangement.

  • DSU execution error

    Hi ,
    I have done cloning from production.
    With out any installation and with out any down time to another box.
    Now that system is almost equal to the production system.
    i have all database in the new box .
    After that i have done Oracle upgrade from 9i to 10g .
    System is running fine.
    Now i started upgrade in that new box.
    I have given user and password the very next screen is initialization step.
    where i am getting the below error
    DCS execution eror:-
    Error while creating request list - see preceding message .
    Unable to detect an abap and /or java instance of SAP system PCP installed on the host pcbl_tes
    Note:- Our production is in cluster CI & DI .
    So all startup profile are copied in the new box.
    Now if i have to start or stop SAP
    i have to give the virtual hostname(sapr3)
    so the command is startsap sapr3    & to stopsap sapr3.
    can any one suggest for this?

    Hi,
    If you already did check profiles so parameters like SAPLOCALHOST is pointing to virtual name then you could use the command: ../EHPI/abap/bin/SAPehpi set stdpar
    This will begin asking for hostnames and other parameters so you can use the virtual name instead of the local hostname, then the system won´t show that error.
    Please be aware that if you have profiles pointing to virtual hostname and local hostname in the profile directory, you will face problems during ABAP and/or Java phases so the best you can do is to have ONLY the profiles for the virtual hostname and move the ones that points to local hostname.
