SAP ERP ECC6.0 SR3 EHP4 IDES Installation Questions

I have downloaded some IDES SR3 EHP4 installation files from SWDC.
I installed Windows 2003 Server 64 bit, Oracle 10.2.0.4 and Java 1.4 on VMWare.
Now I don't know how to proceed from here because I have some doubt.
1. What Dics Number should I download? Currently I have downloaded 50096277, 51031678, 51036767 UC and Non UC, 51036905, 51036971, 51036972, 51037093, 51037095, 51037622, 51037623.
2. I've seen some post saying ABAP + Java stack cannot be installed in the same SID. If I installed using different SID will it incur additional hard disk space? What need to be done to install both stack in the same machine with different SID?
3. Can anyone provide me a brief installation guide if he successfully installed IDES EHP4 before?

Please check that you would need the following disk for the installation.
Installation master DVD, Export DVD for the IDES,Oracle client ,Kernel DVD, database for oracle DVD(RDBMS) and you shall need the Java software component DVD for the installation.

I think you will have to go with the Mcod installation and the SID fo both ABAP and JAVA should be different .
3. Can anyone provide me a brief installation guide if he successfully installed IDES EHP4 before?
Go to service market place and you shall find the installation guide for the perticular os and the Db for which you are going for the installation.

ERP 6.0 EHP4 IDES Installation

Hi,
I installed erp 6.0 ehp4 ides abap on a 32-bit win 2003 server following Note 1379040 - IDES ERP 6.0 ECC 6.0 incl. EHP4. The note suggests to install like a system copy changing label.asc and copying all the export files to EXP1 directory . ABAP is installed successfully.
Now i want to Install java EHP4 IDES. When i try to run it seperately again like a system copy the sapinst screen does not accept the label.asc in export directory.How do i proceed on this. Can i use the same export DVD i used for ABAP. If anyone has does this please let me know how to install JAVA .

So i understand that i have to install java seperately with another set of DVD's. Do you know if i can install this on a 32-bit machine (JAVA 7.01) ? FYI, i installed abap as a system copy cos it was a 32-bit machine.

I am a FI consulant and now i would like to know the functionalities avialable in SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 and SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5. So i request you to pleasae check and provide me answers to the below points for my understanding
1. What are the new functionalities added in SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 on SAP FI side.
2. What are the new functionalities added in SAP ERP 6.0 EHP5 on SAP FI side.Finally what is difference between EHP4 and EHP5, i mean in the point of SAP FI functioanliy.
In the meantime, please provide me the links where i can get complete information on the new functionalities added on FI side in these Enhancement Packages (ie 4/5).

Enhancements packages contains tens to hunderds of new or changed functionalites (called business functions). After installing an enhancement package you can activate the business functions which can be usefull to you.
To have an idea which business function can be usefull, you can use the business function prediction. Based on the (FI) transactions you use in the system, it gives an advice which business functions in an enhancement package should be activated.

You can install Best Practise addon BP-ERP 604V2 on your SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 system as per note 1425037.
BTW, the latest version BP-ERP 604V3 is to be released in June 2010. Maybe you can wait until BP-ERP 604V3 is released.

SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 upgrade from SAP R/3 4.7 1.10

Dear Experts,
Our client is going to upgrade current landscape SAP R/3 4.7 1.10 to ERP 6.0 EHP4. The Source system O/s is AIX 5.3 and database is db2 8.1. Client procuring new hardware for the target release ERP 6.0 landscape and the O/s is going to be AIX 7.1 and databse would be db2 9.7 FP3.
As part of the upgrade we are going to do initial upgrade in the mock server and vendor is going to provide mock server with AIX 7.1 O/S. Current database size is 100GB, hence we are going to copy the production server data into the mock server using export and import method,
Here my doubt is can i install db9.7 directly and do the import (using compitable kernel)?, insteady of installing source database version 8.1 and later upgrading to db2 9.7 . Please clarify me whether can i go head and install the db2 9.7 and do the system copy using R3load.

You can go ahead for IMPORT with DB 9.7.
We completed an OS/DB Migration Project (which involves system copy using EXPORT/IMPORT) and we utilized direct newer version of DB2 on the target during IMPORT.
But please confirm whether the kernel of your release would work fine with DB 9.7 or not. Otherwise, there is no problem in going for higher version of DB2 here.
Small question - Why you want to test the Mock Upgrade on DB2 version which is different than the current version on production server ? Or are you planning to upgrade your current DB2 8 to DB2 9.7 BEFORE the SAP Upgrade on all the servers - then the testing is OK I think (however OS is still the different - Or may be you will go for system copies for this too !)

as for usage types, you seem to have listed product instances instead. Perhaps you can also have a look at the product instances -> technical usages equivalences in the attachments to note 1165438
Anyway, the technical usagesI can see right away are:
- SAP Learning Sol-Frontend CP
- XSS Self Services
- SAP FSCM - Biller Direct
- Central applications
- SAP XECO
Netweaver 7 app server ABAP, Netweaver PI, and Enterprise Portal product instances don't have any additional technical usages assigned.
I suggest also the service http://service.sap.com/bfp for a free service that will help you to select technical usages in your EHP4 install.

SAP ERP 6.0 EHP4 upgrade from R/3 4.7 NUC

We have R/3 System which is 4.7 Non-Unicode. We are not using MDMP and only have single code page. Can I upgrade directly to Non-unicode version of ERP 6.0 EHP4 or do I need to use CU & UC. I read some where that EHP4 cannot be used on Non-Unicode versions.

I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
now the Listener is running as well:

Need to process version 4.5 blocked idoc in SAP ERP ECC6.0

Hello,
We are in the process of upgrading from version 4.5 to ERP 2005.
We have been telling all users that all blocked idocs of version 4.5
have to be cleared before the upgrade as old 4.5 idocs will not be
compatible in ERP2005 version and hence cannot be processed.
say for eg: idocs of message type WMMBXY or DESADV.
Question is - what if we miss few idocs and they remain in blocked status
in 4.5 during the upgrade? Is there anyway we can get those porcessed after thenupgrade or sap standard program to convert such idocs into ERP2005 version or would be just loose those idocs?

Yes we have few changes, like we have Z extensions to the standard message type.
We have set the compatibility mode (3.x).
Do you know what error message would system show after the upgrade when we try to re-process such idocs?

SAP WEB AS 6.20 unicode installation question

I am trying to install SAP WEB AS 6.2 unicode version on SAPDB 7.3 on windows 2000 . I get the following error when i try to install the database instance after the succesfully installing the Central instance.

When I checked, there is no directory 'C:\sapdb\programs\' created at all.
The XMOD.log file says
Execute Command : c:\sapdb\indep_prog/pgm/dbmcli.exe -d <SID> dbm_version INSTROOT
Execute Session Command : exit
Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database <SID>: dbmsrv not found
What does this mean and what do I have to do to correct it ?

could you please tell me which exact SAP DB version you want to install? That's important in this case, because within version 7.3 there's a switch (from a certain Build level) of the SAP DB Installer (used by the sdbinst program).
Additionally, please send me installation protocol of sdbinst, located in the directory C:\sapdb\data\wrk. The name of the file will look something like this:
SAPDB<Installationtype>-<Date>-Time.log

I have NW 2004 and NW 2004s DVDs. Recently i downloaded R/3 4.7E IDES " .RAR" files from net. Can anyone help, how to install IDES system for R/3 4.7E. It is very urgent...please...if possible send screen shots

I have encounter a problem while installing the the SAP ERP 6.0 by IDES Installation Master.

Ok - then the system chooses a domain installation - which is the default.
I suggest you stop the installation, run the uninstaller, boot the machine and start over using "Custom" if you want to do a local installation.

I am planning to install IDES SAP ERP 6.0 SR3 on LINUX REDHAT 5. I need to download software for SAP. Could you please guide me how do i give the search critera to pick/download the right software for the same.
And also i need to order CD's/DVD's for the same. please suggest me where to pick the right choice in ordering the software.
OS : REDHAT LINUX 5
DB : Oracle 10 g

Note that with SR3 no 32bit installations are possible, only 64bit.
