SAP ESS/MSS CATS requirement Please Help

Hi SAP Gurus,
I am new to ESS/MSS , I have the following requirement from the client, please let me know how to start on this, appreciate if you could help me on how to start.
map and configure CA-TS business content including roles to be presented to users via ESS/MSS for time recording againist projects.

SAP ESS/MSS Config required

Can anyone send me the documentation on configuration of ESS/MSS in SAP. And I want to know from functional side, what would be our roles and responsibilities with respect to the implementation of ESS/MSS.

Hi Vasu,
As Functional Consultants, we make the customizing in two ways:
- General settings: to define the links to ESS-MSS apps from homepage and its behaviour
- Specific settings: to define the behaviour of ESS-MSS applications, i mean define valid subtypes for infotypes from Personal Information, the process for leave time request, the salary statement form to display, who's who fields and grouping, etc...
Also, depending on the size, requirements and technical scope of your project, you may do some tasks as a Portal Consultant, i mean define Roles and User Groups, look & feel basical activities & any other Portal functional config.
Usually in a middle or big-size project there is an expert Portal Consultant in the team who make this job (and also technical tasks). But again, that depends on your project.

Which EHP need for SAP ESS MSS

Hello,
I am web dynpro ABAP Consultant. We are going to implement SAP ESS MSS portal for an HR project. Project requires lot of adobe interactive forms and web dynpro ABAP stuff. Currently we have EHP.0 . I dont know whether EHP.0 is enough or i have to go for higher verisons like (EHP 3..4..5) Please let u know which EHP verison have to implement.

You should install EHP5 which was released last Thursday as there have been major changes in ESS/MSS and it is delivered in WDA vs the earlier releases which was WDJ.

SAP ESS / MSS Project - Multiple countries

Hi experts,
I'm starting a new project with a multinational client to implement SAP ESS / MSS Portal in multiple countries.
What should be the best approach to implement ESS and MSS roles:
- Create different roles for different countries (example: 1 ESS and 1 MSS role for each country)
- Use the same roles for every countries (using only 1 ESS and 1 MSS role for all countries). If using this approach I will have to hide some services that are not to be used in every countries. If so, how can I hide these services?

each country is provided with its own set of services and roles and accordingly users are assigned
There will be standard role for each country
to hide services you can use proxy classes til ehp4 and above that we have
from ehp5
Proxy class has been replaced with the BADI HRESS_MENU. Proxy class
is not used anymore for ESS ABAP applications.
Henceforth this BADI can be implemented for all the dynamic changes for
ESS Menu.

SAP ESS/MSS Functional Guide

Hello Experts,
I am new to ESS/MSS, so can anyone provide me with a proper Functional & Technical guide on ESS/MSS, also it would be great if you all provide me with a specific configuration guide on installing ESS/MSS. I have already searched some forums on this, but there was no concrete doc available.
I already have ESS / MSS Configuration (SAP Best Practices for SAP HCM V2.600) (N06) Building Block Configuration Guide & ESS HELP CAESS .
But if you have something more on this then please share.

Maybe you can follow the following steps :
1.you need to identify what is your requirement for the Employee and the Manager.
2. you need to sit with your portal consultant to check out what views are available for the functionality required.
3. You need to create a ess user (your basis consultant can help you to do that by running hruser)
4. you can login onto the portal and check out whether the standard views have what you require or is there some change required.
4. they you can go to the r/3 system and and use transaction simg_sport for getting to mss configuration quickly.
5. Ess configuration you will find at under spro-> personnel management - > employee self service- > service specific settings...
A guide to configure will be very generic and may not directly help. the documentation against each spro node is quite helpful. do write for any other specifics.

I have been trying to test the SAP UI5 ESS/MSS through the NWBC. I have activated the necessary business functions HCM_ESS_UI5_1 and HCM_ESS_WDA_3 and the relevant services in SICF. But when I tried accessing the ESS I am getting the below error:

How to integrate MSSQL server with SAP CRM via XI? Please help!

   I have a requirement where I have to pull the data from MSSQL server and send it to SAP CRM.
   What are the different options avaiable with or without adapter to send data from MSSQL server to XI?
As per my understanding I have following options:
1. JDBC driver.
    MSQL ---> JDBC adapter ---> XI
2. Create webservice for the XI outbound interface (Sender interface) and call it from MSSQL stored procedure.
   MSQL ---> SOAP adapter ---> XI

MSQL ---> DotNet application --> SOAP adapter ---> XI
Which option is the best?

Swings Urgent Requirement, Please Help me

I have a requirement like when a file dialog is displayed, I have to select only directories/folders. Now with using JFileChoser , I am able to choose file . Is there any possibility to choose only directories without file dialog or atleast by using filedialog?. If some solution Please help me as this is urgent requirement.

JFileChooser has an instance method public void setFileSelectionMode(int mode)
call when initialising the file chooser.
chooser.setFileSelectionMode(JFileChooser.DIRECTORIES_ONLY );

Hello All,
Am trying to execute the first sample assignment which is given on http://service.sap.com/connectors site.
Am using .NET Connector 2.0.1 instead of .NET Connector 1.0
Have followed all the steps as mentioned in the tutor but am getting this error:

As mentioned in the tutor we need to just mention the Applciation Host & System Number in the destination object & its configured under Custom Setting & not under SAPLOGON.INI.
To resolve this problem, I tried entering the MsgServerHost & SAPSystemName as well but am still getting the same error.
Please help.....

It seems that you have configured your destinaton1 to use "10.10.18.204" as Message Server and "PUBLIC" as logon group. The message server answers: "Group PUBLIC not found".
Please check the load balancing settings of your SAP system if it supports load balancing at all and what groups exist.
If "destination1" is a SAPLogonDestination, please check if the corresponding destination in SAPLOGON works.

This thing has been discussed many times. This is not advisable that you take loan for starting your career in SAP until and unless you have hundred percent job surety which is almost impossible. You have to sacrifice your prior non IT related experience. When you start career in SAP you start from scratch. Please check this blog where I have shared some tips and my personal experience as well. There are also many other blogs and threads in Career Center which can go through. This query was supposed to be posted in career forum and now some moderator can move it there. You'll get better responses from there.
