SAP Extension Sets

Hi,
I am trying to use BAPI_MATVAL_PRICE_CHANGE. However, this BAPI nees some configuration to be done before it can be used. This additional configuration is only available once EA-FIN Extension Set (Financials Extension) is activated.
I am aware that there is an alternative where you can update a separate config table to bypass activating the Extension Set, but I also need to implement OSS Note 0000605588 to fix a bug in the BAPI. Because the BAPI is associated with the Extension Set I cannot change the code unless it is activated - a bit of a Catch 22.
I know that Extension Sets contain extra functionality but does anyone know if this will affect the way existing functionality works?
Can you turn off Extension Sets once they have been activated (through SPRO)?
I have also heard that SAP will release Extension Set specific Support Packs. Is this correct?

Hello Patrick.
Not sure about all your questions, but the performance assistant does not recommend de-activation:
Do not deactivate a part of the SAP ECC Extension Set that has already been activated, since this can cause inconsistencies in your data. The enhancements made to the structure types mentioned above are also retained.

I'm doing a research about customizing in SAP and I've learnt about BC sets and their limitations. But...what are the Extension sets?? Are only predefined sets or can be created as the BC sets?? Are they similar to the BC sets??
Could anyone please give me some clue about them or provide me a link to this information??

Hi,
BC sets and Extension sets have nothing in common.
A BC set is a set of technical customisings as you said.
An extension set is a set of functional activities that you can activate with SPRO.
For exemple SAP R/3 4.70 has 2 releases of extension sets : 4.70 ext 1.10 and 4.70 ext 2.00.

Basic difference between the two:
47x110 first enterprise release.
From a technical point of view, the first SAP R/3 Enterprise release 47x110,
consists of following parts, each containing different software components:
    o The SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set 1.10 consists of the
       following software components: EA-HR 110, EA-APPL 110, EA-IPPE
       110, EA-RETAIL 110, EA-GLTRADE 110, EA-PS 110 und EA-FINSERV 110.
From a technical point of view, SAP R/3 Enterprise 47x200 consists of
following sections, which in turn contain various software components:
    o SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set 2.00 consists of the following
       software components EA-HR 200, EA-APPL 200, EA-IPPE 200,
       EA-RETAIL 200, EA-GLTRADE 200, EA-PS 200, EA-FINSERV 200, EA-DFPS
       200 and ABA_PLUS 100.

Goto System - > Status
On block "SAP System DATA" click on components .
Here you will see software components SAP_BASIS SAP_ABA.
Just see the release of EA-APPL. The release will be your extension set. It will be either 110(1.1) or 200(2) . I guess this is what you are looking for.

How to find out the extension set version in R/3 Enteprise.

Hi all
I have an SAP system with kernel 640 and Basis and abap and other SPs at version 620.
I am trying to install Auto id infrastructure. I have the following questions.
1. With kernel level 640 should i take my system as R/3 4.7 or ECC5.0?
2. How do i find the extension set version (2.00 or 1.10) of my R/3 4.7 system?

Hi hari,
Ofcourse your system is a R/3 4.7 System and as it is running on 620 stack hence the extension set is 1.10.
for extension set 2.00 the stack level will be 630.

What's the difference between R/3 Enterprise extension set 1.10 and 2.00 ?

Anyone know how to find the difference between 47x110 and 47x200. I want to install the new IDES R3 which is 47x200 (I found some program/source that I need in this version). But our PRD system is 47x110.

SAP R/3 Enterprise Core has been assigned the release number
4.70. This signifies its similarity to SAP R/3 4.6C and indicates
that the core can be independently upgraded and maintained.
SAP R/3 Enterprise Extensions are selectively deployable and
have their own release cycles. The name of each SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension reflects its relevant application area.
e.g.
SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set 1.10 includes HR,SCM and Fin modules
SAP R/3 Enterprise Extension Set 2.00 includes all above and additionaly PLM module.

HIn Nithya,
Business Functions are collected in Business Function Sets. You use these function sets to configure your system for an industry solution. If you do not implement any industry solutions, you can use the General Business Function Set to activate other applications.
You can activate only one Business Function Set in each system instance. The General Business Function Set is integrated into the Business Function Sets of the industry solutions, to enable you to use both.
The functions and applications that underlie a Business Function Set and Business Function are not visible in the system until you activate them. These can include menu items and enhancements in existing transactions, activities in the Implementation Guide, and components in the application component hierarchy.
Note that the changes you make in this IMG activity are critical. Once you have activated a Business Function, you can no longer cancel the enhancements it makes in the system. You can select Business Functions and activate the associated changes in the system only if you have the appropriate authorizations.

EA-HCM (EA-HR) Extension Set

We are planning to implement the HR Extension Set (EA-HCM) and wanted to know if anyone has implemented. If so, are there any known issues or pitfalls that we should be aware of in implementing this extension set.

Issue Resolved:
The main issue resides with the fact that we just updated our system with EHP4. The EA-FIN extension did not activate fully. We have submitted a note to SAP for further review. In the meantime, I would check three main points:
1. Make sure your system settings are correct via t-code SCC4. There is an SAP specific note that explains this (Note 855959)
2. Make sure that the following three BC sets are active:
There are 3 Classical BC Sets to be checked for any Extension set "EA-xxxx" -
1) EA-FIN-IMG
2) EA-FIN-MENU
3) EA-FIN-AKH
3. Check table TBE11 an make sure the EA-FIN extension "check mark" is there, meaning if fully active.

Extension Set Dependancies

Hi,
We need to first patch then activate the PLM (EA-APPL) extension set. We are currently on patch 7 and need to be at least on the latest patch level. Are there any dependancies on other patches? I seem to recall that the advantage of extension sets are that they are independant of any other facets or R/3 Enterprise and can therefore be patched independantly.
So is there any problem if we just apply the patches to EA-APPL?

The only dependency I've seen in Extension Sets is that some components require EA-FINSERV (e.g. some of the functionality we required in EA-PS required EA-FINSERV to be active as well). As far as patch levels go, I've not found any dependencies, having used various systems with EA-PS, EA-FINSERV, EA-GLTRADE, and EA-PLM active since 4.7x110. I would caution you to apply a support pack stack rather than just the APPL patches however (i.e. grab BASIS, ABA, APPL, and any EA-*'s you need as part of the same support pack stack level, along with the appropriate kernel). We are currently in 4.7 and have activated financial extension set EA-FIN. I tested electronic lockbox programs but when I try to find the unprocessed items they are not in FLB1 or FEBA. I have searched forums but have not been able to identify the problem. I have also research to see if additional config is needed with the activation of the extension sets but have been unsuccessful there also. Electronic lockbox posting and the ability to apply unprocessed payments in FLB1 was working correctly before the activation.

I was able to deactive the NEW_FEBA using trans SM31 table V_T100C using message 002 transaction FEBAN not required. FLB1 started.

I dont think you can deactivate the enterprise extensions. Check txn. SFW5 and check the logs and see what erros you got ?

Is there a SAP Recommended Settings for NW 7.1 AIX JVM (J9)
or does Note 1008311 apply to Netweaver 7.1 systems as well.
