SAP Fashion Management !

Hi,
Last month, SAP introduced an add-on module called SAP "Fashion Management" specifically targeting apparel customers, who are into retail and manufacturing. I've few questions with regards to this module. Can you please answer,
1) Is Fashion management going to replace AFS module ?
2) Unlike AFS-Retail integration through interfaces, will it be like Fashion management integrated to IS-retail module ?.
3) Some of the functionality like grid pricing are not available in fashion management as per the reading in SAP library. Is there any feature that replaces grid pricing ?
4) Is Fashion management, a stand alone solution ? or we need retail as a mandatory module for fashion management ?
Regards,
Sat

Hi Sat,
basically in the past, SAP AFS adressed the wholesale fashion companies whereas SAP Retail addressed the Retailing fashion companies. As vertical fashion retailer, it was often necessary to use SAP AFS as well as SAP Retail.
SAP FMS shall (in the future) adress manufacturing, wholesale and retail business for vertical fashion retailers.
In SAP FMS, the majority of the active AFS processes are planned to be brought onto an SAP Retail based integrated ERP Solution.
Therefore:
1) Yes, in a certain way. SAP FMS is a way for vertical fashion retailers to avoid multiple ERP systems (one for manufacturing/wholesale, one for retailing).
2) Yes, SAP FMS will be deployed on top of SAP Retail using the master data structures of SAP IS Retail.
3) I cannot answer that question, as I don't exactly know the "grid pricing" functionality as I am no AFS consultant. But in FMS, you can use generic article from SAP Retail to maintain prices for different colour/size combinations - maybe that's what you are looking for. Nevertheless: SAP FMS is actually in Ramp-up with Release 1.0. Development is ongoing and other features/functions will be released in the future.
4) No, SAP Retail is the functinal basis for SAP FMS. SAP FMS can be deployed on top (I think via activating specific business functions) of SAP Retail.
Hope it helps.

Tobias

  • Questions on SAP Strategy Management

    Dear Experts,
I am very new to SAP Strategy Management (SSM). I already tried to find some information about it in the web, but unfortunately most documents only provide high level information (mostly marketing slides). Therefore I would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:
    1. SSM provides charts for data visualization. Is there an overview of supported chart types? Is there a source which gives further information about chart customization?
    2. SSM provides a collaboration functionality that enables user to add comments. Can comments only be maintained on query level, or also by navigation state (e.g. comment is only shown, when navigating to Calendar Year 2006 and Company Code 4711)?
    3. Is it possible to print comments / export comments combined with charts / reports to PDF
    4. Can users upload documents (e.g. MS Word docs)?
    5. A new version was just released which is supposed to have a better integration with SAP BI. What are the improvements in terms of integration? How can SAP BI data be accessed?
    6. What are the current system requirements for SSM?
    7. Where can a documentation on SSM be found (I could unfortunately only find an installation guide on service.sap.com)?
Thanks a lot for your help!

    Marco,
Here is some information about SAP Strategy Management:
    1. SSM provides charts for data visualization. Is there an overview of supported chart types? Is there a source which gives further information about chart customization?
Strategy Management provides out-of-the-box packaged reporting templates: Benchmarking, Trending, Percent Contributions within subtotals, Exceptions, Rankings, Ad-Hoc reporting of multiple dimensions & metrics.
With Strategy Management, you can also provide links to reports or charts in other applications for further drill-down or exploration.
    2. SSM provides a collaboration functionality that enables user to add comments. Can comments only be maintained on query level, or also by navigation state (e.g. comment is only shown, when navigating to Calendar Year 2006 and Company Code 4711)?
Comments are added by users to specific areas and can be defined as to which user groups have access or visibility to these comments. These comments are directly associated with a specific area (i.e. objective, KPI, initiative, etc.) with a tagging icon to show individual users if there are new, unread, comments since their last access to system.
Comments are added at the user interface level and would be stored in either the MaxDB or SQL database, depending on how the implementation was configured.
    3. Is it possible to print comments / export comments combined with charts / reports to PDF
Strategy Management has an Operational Review function that allows users to capture screenshots, annotate them and publish as a pdf report.
    4. Can users upload documents (e.g. MS Word docs)?
Throughout Strategy Management is the ability to provide links to other reports, internal or external documentation, as well as other applications. Best practices would have an associated link to documents.
    5. A new version was just released which is supposed to have a better integration with SAP BI. What are the improvements in terms of integration? How can SAP BI data be accessed?
The improvements are an administrator tool that provides a basic user interface to simplify the handling of BI connectivity: importing schemas, defining virtual measures, creating scorecard metrics, and importing data.
    6. What are the current system requirements for SSM?
That information can be found in the installation guides. There is a Master Guide and a Sizing Guide which will both be helpful.
    7. Where can a documentation on SSM be found (I could unfortunately only find an installation guide on service.sap.com)?
The best public resource for documention about SSM is the BPX Community> Enterprise Performance Management
    Hope this is helpful,
    Bob

  • New forum needed on SAP Event Management

I currently run 2 forums with around 300 users on SAP Event Management. I had to create private forums because none is available on SDN.
SAP Event Management is a seperate module that used to only exist on SAP SCM but it is now and add-on module for SAP ERP, SNC, AII and TM.
Who else sees the need for a forum for this incredibly useful tool?

i fully support the need of separate forum for SAP EM (or SCEM) . if you go back to the history in early 2000 when we first launched EM we use to have stand alone and i believe only in SCM40 it got merged and now again we have different deployment opportunities.
Considering cross industry functionality and applicability of SAP EM and specific industry like logistics and transportation industry, this need would be greatly justified.
I am not sure whether this specific request have been taken to SAP product management but in any case i am planning to approch sap product managers from my end as well.
Thank you for taking up this initiative.

  • Replacimg performance Manager with SSM(SAP Strategy management)

    Hi,
Can any body tell me  how to migrate all the scorecards, KPIs  based on Performance Manager to SAP Strategy Management. Is there is a tool for that in SSM if not should those be rebuilt in SSM from the scratch.
how do we replicate everything fromPM to  SSM
From the developer perspective what will their tasks.
    Edited by: chrisbaker1999 on Jun 16, 2011 1:01 PM

    Chris,
What the External Data Loader does is to allow you to transfer your scorecard structure from Performance Manager to Strategy Management. What you are importing is the structure of Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives and KPI aspects. It allows you to put all of these in the loader, verify the structure in the loader, and then using Transport to bring into SSM.
There are additional definitions and settings that SSM requires that will have to be added after you Transport the loader's data.
You will still have to build PAS models separately, because the External Data Loader does not build models.
The Transporter tool in SSM allows you to export (and then import) your scorecard metadata from DEV to PROD. Moving between systems is a two-step process, and Transporter is step one. PAS is separate (step two) and you make a dump of the model in your DEV system, take that dump file from the Home directory in DEV and move it to the Home directory in PROD. In the PROD system you create a new PAS model frame and then load that dump into the new framework.
Each SAP customer has a super-administrator that can add users to the SAP Service Marketplace. Find out who your super-admin is and get yourself added to allow you access to those areas on Service Marketplace.

  • Alternative Performance Visualizations in SAP Strategy Management

A question frequently posed to the SAP Strategy Management solution management team is u201Cu2026beyond scorecards and strategy maps, are there other ways within SSM that I can visualize my organizationu2019s performance?u201D The answer is yes.
The SSM Strategy page allows you to create and display up to three goal diagrams. Typically SSM users will just create a strategy diagram (the most common type of goal diagram) and let the other two goal diagram place holders go unused. However, with a little ingenuity the other two goal diagrams could be put to very good use.
Using the goal diagram manager on the SSM Administration console you can import custom images (e.g. Adobe Illustrator or MS Visio images) into the SSM Strategy page. Once a custom image has been imported, hotspots can be mapped on top of the image that allow you to view the status and details of scorecard objects in relation to the image. Hotspots can be created for Contexts, Perspectives, Objectives, and KPIs (KPI hotspots are new in SSM 7.0). For each hotspot location a status indicator is displayed reflecting the Red/Yellow/Green status of the scorecard object. When the hotspot is clicked, details for the scorecard object are displayed in a dropdown box.
So if, for example, you have created contexts for different geographic regions within the United States, you could import a map of the United States and then map context hotspots that allow you to easily view your organizationu2019s performance across geographic regions. So, on your US Map goal diagram you might see a green status icon over California, red over Boston, Yellow over Florida, etc. indicating your organizationu2019s performance in those regions.
Other custom goal diagram examples include:
    - Organization charts that show the performance of different divisions / groups within your organization
    - Process flow diagrams that show performance of different elements of a business or production process
    - Initiative / project summaries that show the performance of multiple initiatives
For more information on how to manage custom diagrams in SSM, view the Help topic u201CGoal Diagramsu201D within the SSM Administration console.

  • Business Objects vs. SAP Strategy Management

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum and would like to post a message regarding the recent news on SAP and Business Objects.
Business Objects has more than 6000 CPM customers and in then meantime we find many statements like http://www.gartner.com/DisplayDocument?id=530626 in the web
Since the announcement a couple of weeks have passed. My question is, if you have detailed analysis on how the Balanced Scorecard solution of both companies will differ respectively overlap. Are there any documents on that point available? And are there any consequences to be expected e.g. with respect to the price model?
    Thanks for your help,
    Alessandro

    Hi Alessandro,
I fully agree with Prakash's reply - at the moment Nenshad's comments represent the 'only version of the truth' regarding the BOBJ acquisition.
However, there is still a possibility to add some useful information on this as you are referring to a 'Balanced Scorecard' solution in general. As there are currently two sides to this equasion: SAP and BOBJ, for the SAP part we can be more specific:
SAP Strategy Management (SSM) based on the technology acquired with Pilot Systems Co. in February 2007 is the tool of choice for scorecarding in the <u>current</u> CPM portfolio of SAP (SAP's current CPM portfolio is based on the acquisitions of Outlooksoft, Pilot and the reseller agreement with Acorn). This reduces the complexity a little bit as you no longer have to contemplate which of SAP's own scorecarding solutions is the leading one <u>at the moment</u>. SEM-CPM Balanced Scorecard is retired - being put in maintenance mode - and all customers encouraged to move to Strategy Management, facilitated by a planned migration utility.
Shall you want to learn more about SAP Strategy Management, feel free to refer to my blog series (e.g. <a href="/people/karol.bliznak/blog/2007/09/12/one-blog-is-not-enough--how-to-manage-performance-management).

  • Add functionalities to SAP Strategy Management

    Hello,
I am a student who wants to add some functionalities to the SAP Strategy Management software,
to make it more collaborative. I subscribed to this very collaborative SAP website to find an answer on two questions:
    - is it possible for me as an external student to add functionality in SAP Strategy Management by programming in ABAP or JAVA?
    - if so, what (free) development tools are available
I hope that there is someone who can help me with these two short questions. I would be very thankfull.

    Ransingh,
Strategy Management is not a toolkit, it is designed as an out-of-the-box foundation for managing operational and strategic performance within an organization.
I will refer you to the white paper on How to Customize Strategy Management 7.0 on the EPM BPX site. You can find it here near the bottom of the Strategy Management category:
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/EnterprisePerformanceManagement%28EPM%29How-to+Guides
This is gives some tips on customizations.
As far as free development tools, SSM comes with a Tools area, http://<server>:<port>/strategy/tools.
There is also BICA, which is a tool for harmonizing the data from SAP BW. There are some fundamental differences in how SSM and BW deal with data and they must be harmonized to provide accurate display of data in SSM.
Customizations to Strategy Management are not supported and care should be taken with modifications during upgrades or support pack releases, so that they are backed up and re-introduced to the application.

    Bob

  • Information about SAP Strategy Management (SAP SM)

    Hello,
I want to know where I can find information about SAP Strategy Management (SAP SM). This is an application that was bought from PILOT.
Is it easy to customize like the SEM-CPM-BSC????
Is it an addon in the BW or ECC????
Is it all browser type application???
    Thank you in advance...

    Greetings Pablo,
Thanks for your interest in SAP Strategy Management (SSM). More information can be found on the BPX site for Corporate Performance Management.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/bpx-cpm
On that page is a short demonstration of SSM. There are two other sections on that page -"Key Topics" and "Best Practices" have links for more information about Strategy Management.
On the SAP.com global site, there is also information about Strategy Management, including white papers.

  • Information about SAP Strategy Management (SAP SSM )

Can someone tell me where I can find the modul "SAP Strategy Management 2007" or where I can order it? Is it a standalone solution or is it part of a package, maybe of the CPM? I couldn't find it in the catalog.
    Thank you in advance...
    Rob

    Rob,
As Jean pointed out SAP Strategy Management (SSM) 7.0 has just been released for Ramp-Up.
SSM 7.0 is integrated tightly to Netweaver. This can be a stand-alone product, and it is also designed to work in the larger Financial Performance Management suite, that would include BPC (Budgeting, Planning, & Consolidation) and PCM (Profitability and Cost Management).
I was not sure what you meant by ordering the SSM product. You can contact your account executive if by ordering you meant purchasing.
Since the product just entered Ramp-Up, even partners or consultants would have to be part of the Ramp-Up process to gain access to SSM 7.0.
With integration to Netweaver, I strongly suggest that you consider SSM 7.0 if you are looking for strategy management.
    Thanks for your interest!

  • Demo - SAP Strategy Management (SSM)

    Hey All,
I`m in need a demo related with SAP Strategy Management that shows all the aplication, like core concepts and features.
Can someone help me to get this?
    Best Regards,

    Hi Bruno,
There is a demo database PWSAMPLE that is shipped with SSM and has demo data values and is a demonstration/testing DB that you can show the application with.
Info for using this is in the install and config guides for SSM.
If you are looking for something for sales or to get new prospects we may need to check with someone on the sales/demo side of SSM to see what is available.
