SAP follows any std Nomenclature while defining a T-code....?

Dear Friends :
Usually industries follow some std while define their Materials, Drawings etc., called "NOMENCLATURE"
for e.g., see the,
Material Number : LT123456
where,
First 2 Digits says their CUSTOMER
Second 4 Digits says model of the PRODUCT
Last 2 Digits says PRODUCT LINE to which the material belongs.
MY QUESTION IS :
Is the T-codes are defined with the same principles as above.....?
Thanks With Regards,
Dinesh Kumar V.

Hello Dinesh,
although such standards / rules really do not exist, you might get a rough idea what the transaction is about based on the first (two?) characters of the transaction code.
Unfortunately there are a lot of "counter-examples", but:
transactions starting with 'S' are usually related to System / Basis related programs: SP01 = Spool request administration; ST01: System Trace; SM50: overview of spool wokrprocesses; etc.
transactions starting with 'M' are usually related to Material Management: MIGO = Goods Movement; MM02 = Change Material; etc.
transactions starting with 'C' are usually related to Production Planning: COGI = Postprocess Faulty Goods Movements; CM25 = Capactiy leveling: Variable; etc.
The problem with this theory is that there are a lot of "counter-examples", for example: I18N is responsible for internationalization yet the transaction code does not start with 'S'; transaction CG3Y allows the download of files from the R/3 server to the frontend yet this transaction has nothing to do with Production Planning, etc.
Aside from these, you can see a pattern in a lot of transaction codes.
Best regards,
Laszlo

  • Where to maintain Picking Time while defining Route

    Hi Friends,
We are defining new routes which would need following time to be defined for the route:
    1) Trnasit Time
    2) Transportation Lead Time
    3) Picking Time
Both Transit time and Transportation Lead Time are present while defining routes however we could not find Picking time.
Kindly help me in finding where in SAP can i maintain Picking time.
    Thanks,
    Anshul

    Hi,
But If you want the picking time to be determined there is an option based on the route
A route-dependent pick/pack time is determined. The influencing factors are: in the order the shipping point, the route and the weight group
in the delivery the shipping point, the route and the weight group for the delivery.
To see the Weight groups the Transaction is "OVS8"
AND THE ASSOCIATED  DETAILS OF THE WEIGHT GROUPS  "OVST"
After this check the route determination with weight group in "0VRF"*(Zero not "O") . Based on this system determines the Picking time automatically. Kindly please let me know If you need any more help on this.

  • Error while defining a warehouse as Bonded Store

    Hi All
I am getting one error while defining a OPM Warehouse as Bonded Store in OPM Inventory Module under Warehouse Attributes.
The error is 'APP-JA-460778: This Warehouse does not have a Parent Organization defined in Oracle Financials'. Can any one tell me where i missed the setup part of defining a parent organization in Financial Module. We are on OPM 11i EBS.
    Thanks in advance
    Prem.

I think you are using India Localization. Sorry, I don't have any knowledge in that area.
I got following information about how to setup Organization/Warehouse. And it says that any deviation from this may result in error. Check if you are following all the steps required for defining warehouse and organization.
Please ensure that the following setups are done exactly as mentioned below:
    1) Create an OPM organization in OPM System Administration using OPM Organization Screen eg. ‘PM1’
    2) Create a Location using ‘HR Locations’ form with the same name as the OPM Organization (eg. PM1)
    3) Create an Inventory Organization using the form ‘HR Organizations’ with the same Organization Code as the OPM organization Code created in step 1. (Additional Identification details of the Organization could be given after a colon (:) in the Organization Name – Eg. ‘PM1: Vision Process India Mumbai’). Make this Inventory Organization as ‘Process Enabled’ and in the ‘Process Organization’ field, refer to the OPM Organization. Attach the HR Location created in step 2 to this Inventory Organization.
    4) On saving the Inventory Organization record, the system shall automatically create a Warehouse with the same name in OPM under the OPM organization. (eg.PM1)
    5) Query the Location ‘PM1’ and attach the Inventory Organization ‘PM1’ to it.
    6) Go to Organization Additional info in OPM System Admin – Create a record for ‘PM1’.
Enter the EC Code for this Organization, as this is the Excise Licensed Organization. After saving
the record here, an automatic entry is created in India Local Inventory – Organization Additional Information for the Inventory Organization.
    7) Go to India Local Inventory Org Additional Info and query for this Organization (it will be visible without location). DO NOT mark this as Master Organization.
    8) Add another record for the Organization with Location (eg. PM1)
    9) Check the 'Master Org' flag for this combination of Organization and Location.
    B: Warehouse :
    1) Create an Inventory Organization in India Local Inventory corresponding to the Warehouse in OPM (eg. ‘WSH’). Make this as ‘Process Enabled’ and give the ‘Process Organization’ as the
OPM Organization created earlier (PM1), which is the Process Organization this Warehouse is going to report to.
    2) Create location (WSH-With the same name as the Warehouse Code) in India Local Inventory and attach it to organization ‘WSH’ in India Local Inventory
    3) System automatically creates Warehouse ‘WSH’ in OPM under the OPM organization (PM1)
    4) Using the ‘Warehouse Attributes’ form, classify this Warehouse as Bonded/Trading/OSP
    5) Go to India Local Inventory Organization Additional Information form and create a record ‘WSH’ giving the Master Organization as ‘PM1’ (actually this is referring to the combination of PM1 with Location
PM1 as Master Organization) . Add another record for the same Org ‘WSH’ with Location ‘WSH’
with Master Organization as ‘PM1’. Please ensure that the EC Code is exactly same as the Master Organization.
    6) Optionally ensure that in the Register Priorities, highest priority (1) is set against PLA.
    7) Optionally ensure that Allow Negative PLA Balance Flag is checked.
Also make sure that all objects (triggers, packages etc) that are related to localization are valid.

For those who would have the same problem, here is how I could eventually fix it.
Since the Flex Test Drive is sometimes out of sync with flash builder 4, I recreated a project using other help pages on Adobe site :
    Entry point :
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08- 7ffd.html
As suggested, I used the New Project wizard to create a new project, with :
    Application server type : J2EE
Check the radio button "Use remote object access service : BlazeDS"
Then, as indicated in following pages (section "Accessing BlazeDS")... :
    file:///C:/Mes%20documents%20C/Commun/Developpement/Documentation/HT-Tracks/AccessingData/ help.adobe.com/en_US/Flex/4.0/AccessingData/WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-668f02f4120d422cf08-7ffe.ht ml#WSbde04e3d3e6474c4-19a3f0e0122be55e1b7-8000
...I selected the "Data / Connect to Data/Services..." menu option, which started the Data/service connection wizard.
There, I selected a BlazeDS (and not Web Services) service type, and everything went fine.
Suggestion to adobe staff : maybe it would be useful to update the Flex Test Drive to reflect Flash Builder 4 ?
Very nice product anyway, so far, congratulations...
    Rgds
    Marc.

  • Access Sequence - Error while defining it

    Hi all,
I am getting the below error while defining a access sequence.
' UNFAVOURABLE  SEQUENCE OF FIELDS - POSSIBLE PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS'
Could anyone please help me this..
    Thanks,
    Arthy

    Hi Hegal,
I followed the basic principle. I was trying to define a new access sequence for the pricing conditions...
But I got the error that i reported earlier. I saved it inspite of the error. The access sequence got created but I am not sure if it will give any errors in  my pricing procedure while executing the sales order.
Do you think it is some config error?
    Thanks,
    Arthy

  • While defining a columnar table, what is the purpose of column store type

    Hi folks
I have two questions related to columnar table definition.
    1. What is the purpose of column store type.
While defining a columnar table, what is the purpose of column store type (STRING ,CS_FIXEDSTRING,CS_INT etc) , when I define a table using the UI I see that the column is showing STRING but when I goto EXPORT SQL it does not show.  Is this mandatory or optional ?
2.VARCHAR Vs. CHAR - In the UI when I create the table I do not see the CHAR option , but I do see lot of discussion where people are using CHAR for defining the columnar table. Not sure why UI dropdown does not show it. I also read that we should avoid using VARCHAR as those columns are not compressed, is that true, I thought the column store gives compression for all the columns. Are there certain columns which cannot be compressed .
Please let me know where I can find more information about these two questions.
    Poonam

    Hi Poonam
the CS_-data types are the data types that are used internally in the column store. They can be supplied but it is not at all required or recommended to do so.
SAP HANA will automatically use the correct CS_-data type for every SQL data type in your table definitions.
To be very clear about this: don't use the CS_-data types directly. Just stick to the SQL data types.
Concerning VARCHAR vs CHAR: fixed character data types are not supported anymore and don't show up anymore in the documentation.
I have no idea why you believe that VARCHAR columns are not compressed but this is just a myth.
    create column table charcompr (fchar char(20), vchar varchar(20));
    insert into charcompr (
        select lpad ('x', to_int (rand()*20), 'y'), null from objects cross join objects);
-- same data into both columns
    update charcompr set vchar = fchar;
-- perform the delta merge and force a compression optimization
    merge delta of charcompr;
    update charcompr with parameters ('OPTIMIZE_COMPRESSION' ='FORCE');
    -- check the memory requirements
    select COLUMN_NAME, MEMORY_SIZE_IN_TOTAL, UNCOMPRESSED_SIZE, COUNT, DISTINCT_COUNT, COMPRESSION_TYPE
    from m_cs_columns where table_name ='CHARCOMPR'
    COLUMN_NAME    MEMORY_SIZE_IN_TOTAL    UNCOMPRESSED_SIZE   COUNT   DISTINCT_COUNT  COMPRESSION_TYPE
    FCHAR       3661                    70285738            6692569 20              RLE
    VCHAR       3661                    70285738            6692569 20              RLE
We see: compression and memory requirements are the same for both fixed and variable character sizes.

Welcome any pointers or work-arounds for this issue.
    Thanks,
    Remya

You must have chosen an API that uses a PL/SQL data type such as RECORD, TABLE, or BOOLEAN.
In cases like these, JPublisher is invoked to create a wrapper API that will be called instead of your API. If JPublisher is successful, the wrapper API is automatically created in the database schema - The wizard then generates its artifacts based on the wrapper.
This error indicates that an error occurred when the wrapper was generated or created in the schema. Without the wrapper, the wizard will fail as you've already found.
You can try turning on logging to see the JPublisher or database error in the log file. Also check to see if the SQL files generated by JPublisher have been added to your project. If they have, you may be able to use them to create the schema objects manually.

  • Nested while defining class: com.sun.xml.ws.api.WSBinding ???

Why is this happening, I am trying to access servlet, 2.4 on the Webshere 6.1, installation as succesfull and the servlet is running without exceptions.
      nested while defining class: com.sun.xml.ws.api.WSBinding
This error indicates that the class: javax.xml.ws.Binding
could not be located while defining the class: com.sun.xml.ws.api.WSBinding
This is often caused by having the class at a higher point in the classloader hierarchy
Dumping the current context classloader hierarchy:

*** indicates classloader where the missing class could have been found

  • How to enable purchasing tab in BOM, while defining bom for a item

    dear gurus,
while defining a bom for a item, there ae various tabs like main, effectivity, OM etc. among that purchasing tab is in disabled state. how to enable that.
pls provide setup and whats actual use of that.
    waiting fr reply.

    Dear,
For a phantom assy the special procurement key in the material master should be 50. You have done the right thing.
But in the BOM of FERT please remove the phantome assy Off indicator. Once you maintained the special procurement key 50 in material master, the phantom indicator will be acutomatically set in the high level bom.
Hence if you activate the phantom assy off then this will override the phantom indicator
