SAP for HE&R - Implementation

Hello Experts,
I am trying to install a new system for SAP Higher Education and Research. For this I have installed ERP 6.0 EHP7 system.
To make the system ready with HE&R solution does the ERP system only requires activation of business function related to Campus Management or any Support Packages has to be installed? Please suggest.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Megha Aggarwal

Dear Megha;
With an Business Suite Ehp7 installation you are all up-to-date. There is no need to install specific SP's to activate SLcM. It is only a matter of activating the mandatory business function sets via trx SFW5. More information to be found here:

  • One SAP for several company

We are using SAP as our ERP system. And now, we would like to add one more company into the system, Actually, the business of new comapany is totally differ to our existing business, and they are two entity. I would like to know, we use the existing to add new company or separate it into new SAP system. If add it into existing, anythings we have to concern. Thanks!

The way you described the New company term in different posts, it's really confusing. Is this only a separate company code along with other related Org. Units? And the some extra user for that? If yes, you can go on creating them in the same client and create separate role structure (with different naming convention) for better security and assign them to the new users.
And if it is different like: You are running one Cosmetics company through SAP and now want to implement SAP for other company, say Medicine,..... then you should forget about tampering your existing SAP Landscape. Please use new setup (hardware, OS, DB, ERP i.e. SAP etc...) for this.
New client in the existing Boxes will become Night mare in future.

  • Need information about SAP EM Configuration and Implementation

    Hi,
I am new to SAP EM.I need to do Configuration for EM and Procurement visibility process.
Please provide some information on configuration of EM with examples.
    Thanks,
    Prasuna.

    Hi
There is wealth of information available on the [Service Marketplace |https://websmp107.sap-ag.de/scm]on the standard visibility scenarios which will probably get you started. Procurement visibility scenario is one of the them and have documentations.
There are couple of points which are worth knowing that SAP Event Management
    - requires configuration in both application system (ECC) and SAP EM system (SCM)
    - good understanding of the function module (extractors) for sending and posting events
    - well thought supply chain events (design) business would like to monitor and manage
    - reactions to both expected and unexpected events (follow-up activities)
The other resource available are [SAP PRESS technical book |http://www.sap-press.com/products/Implementing-and-Configuring-SAP-Event-Management.html] and [published case studies |http://www.scmexpertonline.com/article.cfm?session=&id=4804] on the SAP EM Procurement visibility scenario.

  • 3 way match of invoice in SAP for legacy PO

My client is using legacy system for purchasing direct materials.   SAP FI has been implemented.  Customer like to carryout indirect purchasing (consumables - text purchase & MRO items) directly in SAP and hence we are configuring minimum org structure.  When we suggested about 3 way match of invoices to customer for indirect purchases, customer expressed interest to carryout 3 way match for direct purchases as well in SAP.    Please note that direct materials are procured in legacy system.
Customer query :  Is it possible to carry out 3 way matching of invoices in SAP without material master & inventory management  for direct purchases happening in legacy system.  If so, please explain the solution and its pros and cons. Please share your experiences and lessons learned on similar requirement.. Also suggest alternate solutions..... Thanks for your time and help.

a three way match is matching quantity and price  from purchase order, goods receipt and invoice receipt .
If all  documents are done in SAP, then SAP will do this match when you enter the invoice
But if you procure in a external system and use only SAP-FI to post and pay invoices, then you cannot have a automatic 3way match. In that case the 3way match must be done manually by the accountant.

  • How Benefits is maintained where SAP HR Benefits not implemented?

    Hello folks,
Just wondering how Benefits / Benefits config is maintained where SAP HR Benefits is not implemented. How this works out in SAP and out side SAP i.e. outsourcing etc.. Please explain.
    Thanks a ton..
    JEss..

If your client has decided to outsource Benefits admin to a third party, you will most probably have to :
    1. Send employee status files with the data stored in PA. Ex Active, Termed, DOB, Dependents etc..... The spec for this will be provided by the 3rd party.
    2. Open Enrollment will be handled via online or mail.
    3. All queries regarding benefits will be handled by the 3rd party unless it is a master data issue.
Depending on the size of the org, you may want to promote using SAP for benefits as it had many advantages.

  • BI and SAP for Mining

    Hi!
Has anybody implemented BI with SAP for Mining?
Do you have any information about BI Content, features, reports, differences...?

There are APIs to use the ABAP application AS to remotely read the files and return them externally (e.g. to a SolMan or BW).
See the reports which start with RSAU* for some examples. A known demo program is RSAU_READ_AUDITLOG_EXTERNAL which will show you how to make the calls. You can also find the meta data here for your BI reports (don't forget to read all the fields, parameters 1 to 4 are very usefull as well).
Regarding "other" transaction usage logs, I can only recommend being very carefull. They have been widely misused for security although originally intended for response time statistics per program, to watch for "early" indications of problems.
The security audit log is the correct tool to use - others are semi-co-incidental.
Personally I then also use an external call as needed to rattle through 15 different logs I know of using import parameters from the drill down (in SolMan or local with user name, start time, no. of hours) exported into a cronologically sorted list showing the origin of the entry. Here it is usefull to use the STAT data to show what the user clicked on before hand to give the other 14 logs a context, but does not tell you what they actually did (particularly after the aggregation takes place).
The main hassle is the output formats. You will soon learn to hate spool....
    Cheers,

Forgive me for saying, but it means:
Implementing security which complies with Sarbanes Oxley requirements and takes into account Segregation of Duties.
SOX and SOD are different things, from a security perspective SOX is generally technical security based and SOD is business process based (although bus proc has big SOX component).
There is a plethora of information via yahoo/google etc.

  • HCM in an SAP for Utilities Landscape

If HCM were required in a Landscape running SAP for Utilities should HCM be run in the same ECC instance running Utilities or its own instance?
I appreciate that the answer may not be a simple yes/no but some guidance on the factors to take into consideration would be appreciated.
Many thanks in anticipation of a reply.

    Narasimha,
many thanks for you reply.  It's the assertion in your reply that IS-U "stands on a separate server" that I'm trying to understand.  Is it always the case that IS-U should run on it's own ECC implementation?
My understanding of the  switch framework is that you could run multiple cross industry solutions but only ever one industry solution on the same ECC in which case it should be okay for IS-U to run on the same ECC as HCM, but I'm relatively new to this so may have got the wrong end of a stick somewhere!

  • To use SAP for one final

    Hello,
We are replacing our current Lotus Notes based Approvals and Authorizations application for vendor invoices and are currently reviewing requirements and software options.
One of the possibilities we are investigating is to combine Ariba (procurement app) with SAP and to use the Ariba application for the Requestor/Business approvals workflow and the SAP application for the final level of approval (ie. Disbursement approval/Country Controller).
As a result of a preliminary investigation on standard SAP workflow functionality; we were advised that mass/ bulk approval would not be possible in SAP and that each invoice would need to be reviewed and approved individually.  Currently this is one of the important features in the A&A application as some disbursement approvers receive hundreds of invoices daily to approve and we would like to have a similar feature possible in the new application.
Have you heard of a similar company using a hybrid of Ariba and SAP and if they were able to implement mass/bulk approval in SAP for the final level of approval? Individual review of invoices would also need to be possible
Thanks in advance for any information insight you may be able to provide.
    Aisling

  • Guideline Performance Initial Download from SAP for Utility into SAP CRM

    Hello,
Please find below a link (valid for 10 weeks) to the document Guideline Performance Initial Download from SAP for Utilities into SAP CRM. The document is also published in the SAP Service Market Place at http://service.sap.com/utilities. Then choose Technical Information Center - Migration.
The purpose of the document is to give guidelines as well as to share experience for an efficient and high performance execution of an initial download from an SAP for Utilities system to an SAP CRM system, such as:
    - Configuration of the initial download
    - Ensure optimum performance for the initial download of the relevant business objects
    - Avoid unnecessary business data being downloaded
    - Monitoring of the initial download and taking corrective actions in case of problems
    - Handle errors occurring during the initial download of business objects
    - Minimize performance bottlenecks
The document explains the setup and configuration of the SAP for Utilities and SAP CRM systems only if necessary for the understanding of the solution of a described performance problem. This document does not cover the performance optimization of the delta down- and upload and the synchronization download.
The document has the following structure:
Chapter 1 describes the basics of an initial download
Chapter 2 describes how to plan and execute tests to achieve an acceptable performance
Chapter 3 describes the most important technical activities to prepare the involved systems
Chapter 4 describes the most important functional activities to prepare the involved system
Chapter 5 describes how to perform an initial download
Chapter 6 describes measures to improve the performance of an initial download
Chapter 7 provides a list of important repository tables
Chapter 8 contains a list of important SAP Notes related to initial download
I'd highly appreciate your valuable feedback on this document.
    Kind regards,
    Fritz
Edited by: William Eastman on Feb 17, 2011 2:34 PM

    Hi Fritz,
sorry for the late late reply but I didn't notice your answer.
    Here are my answers:
    (1) I monitored the behaviour on the CRM system, CRM 7.0, SP5
    (2) The change should be implemented in the CRM system
    (3) Deactivate buffering for scenarios marketing, sale and service via SM30 and table T770MATTR.
By doing this the initial load of 3.2 million business agreements took around 2 hours, with activated scenario buffering I was at least ten times slower.
After the initial load you have to activate the buffering again.
Interesting to know would be why the scenario buffering only affects the initial load of business agreements and no other object. As far as I know the scenario buffering is relevant for the organizational management.

  • Ideal Time Duration for Payroll International Implementation

    Hi Experts,
Can anybody please guide me :
What is the ideal duration for Payoll International implementation along with statutory requirement.
What are the pre requisites for this.
What all additional activities required to be done which were excusive to International Payroll.
    Please guide .
    Thanks.

    Hi,
International payroll with statutory would differ based on the complexity involved in the country norms and pay policies tobe implemented in the schema level.
Realization effort would definitely will be based on the country specific RICEF and PCR modifications to be performed. Else, the project estimation can be made based on any other country implementation for other phases in ASAP.
some of the notes to be kept as a checklist for any payroll implementation are-
    1) Clear pay related requirements to be implemented are signed off
    2) Testing scenarios identified by the Users, functional consultants as a workshop session
    3) Parallel runs of atleast two cycle to be incorporated in the plan for implementation
    4) Statutory forms are well designed and tested per the latest SAP release notes
    5) Payroll users are trained and tested with the payroll processes
    6) FI configurations are well defined with the respective accounts to be considered for various wage types
    7) Test some of the end to end scenario for various cities and districts related calculations and different EGs from hiring and processing time, payrollt, posting to payroll and posting to finance
    8) Finalising on check print format and consolidated inputs with appropriate testing
    9) Bank transfer file to be well tested
    10) Reviewing the remuneration statement as pay slips in Portal (PDF format) should be configured and tested

    Dear Friends,

  • Is the ASU Toolbox important for support package implementation?

    Dear all,
when I want to implement new support packages there comes the hint with number 1000009 (ASU Toolbox).
Is it important to implement the toolbox or is it optional?

    Hi,
    It’s not necessary!!
SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) enables you to implement cross-system processes. It enables you to connect systems from different vendors (non-SAP and SAP) in different versions and implemented in different programming languages (Java, ABAP, and so on) to each other. SAP Exchange Infrastructure is based on an open architecture, uses open standards (in particular those from the XML and Java environments) and offers those services that are essential in a heterogeneous and complex system landscape.
With regard to POS lot of domestic softwares are avilable other than Triversity.
The SAP for Retail solution portfolio includes customer-centric solutions from SAP Triversity, an SAP company. The applications from SAP Triversity focus on the "sell" side of retailing. They enable retailers to deliver a best-in-class customer experience across all channels, while helping them to optimize their operating efficiencies and increase profitability.
You can integrate thirdparty POS system to SAP.
