SAP Freeze

Dear sir,
I have problem on SAP Production Server.
We sometimes encountered a freeze, ranging from 1-10 minutes in office hour.
When this happens, SAP just freeze, and we have to wait for some times before it is usable again.
It happened again today.
After that I go to tcode SM21 and check the log there.
I found this log, (does it have anything to do with the error?)
Documentation for system log message R4 7 :

I'm not sure the error you posted is related to your freeze.
What happens on OS level? Open a telnet/ssh session and execute
top d1c
and keep that up. What do you see when the system freezes?

  • SAP freezes when entering a PO

    Hi all,
My customer is in 2007 SP00 PL49 and he tries to update a PO and SAP freezes. It happens only on specific PO's but we don't find why it's happening,
any suggestions ? some verification I can make ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are you running add-on or Formatted Search? Please try to disable it first. Check BP Master Data if any changes happened.
If the problem persist go to a test server try to replicate the problem
or cancelled the PO then create a new one.

  • SAP Freezing

    Hi
We've developed an add on using the DI API that handles stock transfers (reservations), Invoicing, and Receipt from production.
Users experience 30 second to 1 minute freezes in SAP (the client becomes unresponsive, and unable to draw itself, going white in places)
As a test I created a loop to create 2000 stock transfers of the same item between two warehouses, back and forth. When accessing the SAP Client during this time I could re create the freeze. Granted, this is a heavy test to throw at SAP, and not something that is being dealt with day to day, although the Stock Transfer run does contain a large quantity at any one run.
Is there a workaround to prevent SAP from freezing, but rather to almost schedule the transactions?
Would the DI Server be a more scalable solution?
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
    -Colin

Between processes try to call form.update to redraw the screen - or - create progress bar (something will move on the screen) - this doesnt prevent Not responing state of window.
Or you may use timer (after one step run timer and after few milisecond continue with next step) - this will takes handle back to sap.
    hope it helps

  • SAP Freeze for 30 minutes

    Dear gurus,
In our SAP production environment, SAP frequently hold for some minutes, ranging from 10 to 30 minutes.
When that happens, no users can logged onto SAP System (Waiting for system response in SAP Logon).
When that happen, I can't do anything except restarting SAP Server.
We rarely do an update record nor an intensive report program when that happened,
Where can I check the initial problem for this?
    For information,
Our system running on AIX 5.2 Oracle 10.0.2.0 with 16GB Memory (SAP ECC 6.0).
    The Detail:
    Buffer size:
    ABAP Programs: 900000 KB
    Nametab: 89996 KB
    Generic key table: 97657 KB
    Single key table: 90000 KB
    CUA information: 10000 KB
    Screens: 19532 KB
    No of Work Process:
    Dialog: 25
    Update (V1): 6
    Update (V2): 3
    Enqueue: 1
    Background: 3
    Spool: 4
Initial / max. swap requirement: 11154 MB / 13062 MB.
Even when the users is only 5, the memory could drop to only 200MB in the server (as in ST06).
I do not know what consume the high memory.
Also, when I go to DB02, an see the space, it shows blank record.
That is, the used space, total DB size, is 0. I have checked that SAPOSCOL is running.
    Thanks for gurus help.

    Hi Bobby
There could be more than one issues in your system.
    > no users can logged onto SAP System (Waiting for system response in SAP Logon).
When this happens, check ORAARCH directory under SAPDATA_HOME. If this directory is full, database goes to dormat state and until and unless this directory is free ( free space is there) database wont allow any user to get it.
What is the frequency of your archive log job?  Check https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/391
    >Even when the users is only 5, the memory could drop to only 200MB in the server
Could you find any reason of this high memory consumption from OS level, you can check the PID from there and then from sm50 you can check which program is using maximum meory. Also check from ST02 what is the number of swapping for important buffers , like program buffer. What are the values of "Commit charge limit Kb" and "Commit charge free  Kb" from ST06 when you see this memory bottleneck?
    >Also, when I go to DB02, an see the space, it shows blank record.
Run RSORAT0D report and then check again. Clickking Rfresh on the DB02 first screen will run this report for you or else you can run it from SA38 or se38 directly

  • Reader 10.1.3 freezes SAP

We have the SAP GUI 7.2 and within the GUI when we view a pdf it opens fine, just like opening a pdf in IE.  When we click the email button it will open outlook and have the pdf attached to send the email.  At this point when we send the email as normal and attempt to go back to the SAP GUI it is now frozen, and I must kill the process in order to unfreeze.  We can save the pdf to a folder then attach to an email as normal without a problem, just when we use the envelope icon to send in an email from reader itself that opens within SAP (just like IE)  When I try the same button in IE thought IE does not freeze.
I have applied the fix I found regarding High CPU usage as well as a fix to stop pdfshell.dll from grabbing pdf's when attaching to outlook, and these have resolved our issues for XP in regards to those 2 options.
The SAP freeze is happening on both XP SP3 (32bit) and Win7 SP1 (64bit)  we are using the same 32bit version of 10.1.3 for both OS's
    Any help is appreciated.

Did you try the solutions listed here:

If no, then please try changing 'Comment and Forms' option present just above it. Try selecting 'Document and markups'."
If yes, Please let me know if it works or not.
Also, Could you provide more information:

  • Stock Valuation Method - Freeze SAP - Changing from FIFO to Moving Average

When you select and change more that 20 items at one go, from FIFO to Moving Average, it causes SAP to Freeze; Also if you do them one-by-one, after about 30-40 itms, SAP freezes.
    Is this knows?

    Thanks to all,
But I am running SAP 8.8 PL15; working on the server console, single user, tried several option, restarting Server, SQL, stopped TomCat etc, played with threads etc.
The DB size is 510MB and 1,500 stock items; they have about 7 warehouses, automatically created to each stock item.
I really think it is a problem on 8.8, so I will log a call with AG Support.

  • SAP GUI and Win 7 error when attaching a document

I searched Google multiple times for an answer but didn't find one, so I'd like to bring it up in this forum.
I start by saying that mine is a large corporation with centralized application, Windows and security configuration, so I have very little manuvering as far as changing settings.
The problem we run into is as follows:
some users who use a particular (Quality Assurance) module of SAP need to regularly attach documents (typically PDF format) in SAP. The typical size of an attachment is between 3-7 MB.
Those documents are store on a network file share remote to the site. The network latency between the site and the file share location is approx. 6ms (not huge by any means). Users are running Win 7 Enterprise SP1.
Randomly, the attachment download fails in SAP and they have to exit and log back in to SAP to resume. The attachment may fail2-3 times, and then succeed or fail permanently.
Copying the file to a local drive (C:) and then attaching it in SAP always works.
The users report that this was not an issue when they were using WinXP SP3 a few months back.
Again, the problem is random in that it cannot be recreated at will but happens often enough to be more than just an inconvenience.
the Windows event log logs the following message when the attach process fails and SAP freezes:
The program saplogon.exe version 7300.1.2.1080 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

I'd appreciate any input that would help resolve this issue.
    Steve

Besides updating the patch level, the other thing you can try to get more information is turn on or increase the level of tracing within the SAPGUI.  You can do this on the workstation in SAP Logon by clicking the little button at the upper left of the window title bar, then in the drop-down choose Options.  In the new window that opens go to the Traces folder and have a look through the three different kinds of traces you can turn on.  Probably you should turn on SAP Logon Traces to the "Errors" level, and same for SAP GUI Traces (to Level 1: Errors), and under Session Traces pick the options that make sense to you (perhaps "Access Control", "Office Integration", and/or "Security"?  You might need to experiment with different options to get the right combination that doesn't overload the trace file with noise; you may not need a Session Trace at all if the error trace on the other two options reveal what's wrong).
You can see under Session Traces what folder the trace files will go to, and open the folder from there.  By default it will be C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SAP\SAP GUI\Traces.

  • Huge delay in Printing Crystal Report Layout

    Good Day Experts,
I am experiencing big delays when printing a document that makes use of a Crystal Report Layout Design.
    For example,
The Sales Quote is set to automatically print when added by the user.
When clicking 'Add', SAP freezes up and only about 30 seconds later does the printer finally print the document.
During that time, the user cannot use SAP at all.
The layout does have a lot of fields and a few formulas here and there.
Logically, I am thinking that that is the reason for the delay, as SAP needs to calculate and populate those fields.
Is there any other way that I could speed up this process? Or if you know what might be causing this speed issue?
    Your assistance will be appreciated,
    Thanks

  • Problems activating an adobe forms object / lifecycle designer

    Hi everybody,
our developers are getting more and more problems when they try to activate an adobe forms object in SAP.
When they click on the activate icon, SAP freezes – and after 3-4 minutes of waiting, SAP displays, that e.g. 105.570 bytes were transferred, but the document remains inactive.
So by now they need about 5 attempts before it finally gets activated…this is very time consuming and frustrating.
Does anybody know a solution to this problem?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

  • SAP Business One 32 Bit Client freezing when printing?

    Hi Everyone,
I am experiencing an issue with printing on a SAP Business One 32 Bit Client. The client is installed onto a Windows 7 (x64) Professional computer, and the business I work for uses the version of Business One shown below -
The issue that is being experienced is as follows - assuming that an appropriate (printable) document is loaded, e.g.: a Delivery Note, then selecting File (menu) > Print:
20 second delay to 'load' the printer selection dialog, then after clicking on OK (to print)
30 second delay until 'paper is printed', during which time the SAP Business One User Interface freezes!
I have identified that this issue only occurs with SAP, e.g.: printing of Word documents, PDFs, emails, etc responds in the expected amount of time (and none of the a fore mentioned programs experiences any freezing with their User Interfaces).
In order to remedy this I first downloaded and installed the newest printer driver for the printer, however when no improvement was noticed I made the decision to uninstall and then re-install Business One. In doing so I followed the method outlined below -
Even after performing all of the above I have seen no improvement in printing or program responsiveness. If you have experienced this issue, and you know a fix can you please contribute to this forum thread?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,

  • Add crash on one client and cause all other SAP clients to freeze

    Hi All
I have a big problem that I hope someone might help solve...
We have a customer adding 2000 invoices in 100-300 batches using a Add-on we have created.
Our add-on does what it is suppose to do, but at random intervals (more when many users are working), the add-on freeze (it does not crash with an error despite we have try/catch all over... Instead the addon goes down to use zero in CPU and nothing is added to the database)... This is a big problem since the add-on use transactions and if the "crash" happens within a transaction all other clients freeze (not able to do anything).... if the add-on process is killed all client "wakes up"...
The customer is running SBO2007A PL42 and have a 27GB database with around 15 simultanious users
    Anyone:
    - Who have experience somthing similar?
    - Know any solutions / partial solution?
    Kind Regards
    Rasmus Wulff Jensen

I just upgraded to 2007A PL42 and SQL2005 last week. Since then I've had the same issue, continuous locks on the tables. I use the DIAPI extensivly. If one person is using the system then I have no problems. Once additional users login the application freezes and nothing works.
I see that locks are created on the entire tables; you'll notice extensive "lock escallation" ocurring in profiler. Once the table is locked and another related table becomes locked by another process then you have infinite wait periods to release locks.
Even though you are updating Invoices, SBO still updates the OITM tables with the IsCommited, Inventory, etc values. The OCRD and many other tables are also affected.
The same application that I'm using ran perfectly in 2005A SQL 2000. I don't know whether this is a SQL2005 or SAP (or both) issue at this point.
My only work around has been to restart the SQL service and tell everyone to use our application one at a time. I hope that we can find some answers soon.
It may have something to do with the DI API COM Add/Modify calls throwing errors and leaving open locks.

  • Problem with freeze on Document forms

    Hi all,
i've a problem with freeze on document's forms (like invoice) when i make changes on matrix.
For example i've an addon that calculate discounts for items and update the information in the matrix. But when I update the info in the Matrix I see the cursor run across the matrix.
This create two problems. The first one is the orrible aspect that the operation assume, the second is that sometimes some cells turn to black and remain ofthis color.
    Can someone help me?
Here I post a piece of my code:
        Dim oForm As SAPbouiCOM.Form = SBOApplication.Forms.Item(FormUID)
        Dim oMatrix As SAPbouiCOM.Matrix = oForm.Items.Item("38").Specific
Dim oRefLine As Integer = 0
        oForm.Freeze(True)
Dim Cnt As Integer = 1
        Try
          While Cnt <= oMatrix.RowCount
            If oMatrix.Columns.Item("U_RefLineId").Cells.Item(Cnt).Specific.Value <> "" Then
              Dim apDouble As Double = oMatrix.Columns.Item("15").Cells.Item(Cnt).Specific.Value.ToString.Replace(".", ",")
              If apDouble <> 100 Then
                SetMatrixValue(oMatrix, "U_RefLineId", Cnt, "")
                SetMatrixValue(oMatrix, "11", Cnt, oMatrix.Columns.Item("U_OrigQtyMN").Cells.Item(Cnt).Specific.Value)
                SetMatrixValue(oMatrix, "U_OrigQtyMN", Cnt, 0)
                Cnt = Cnt + 1
              Else
                oMatrix.Columns.Item("15").Cells.Item(Cnt).Click()
                SBOApplication.ActivateMenuItem("1293")
              End If
            Else
              SetMatrixValue(oMatrix, "15", Cnt, 0)
              Cnt = Cnt + 1
            End If
          End While
        Catch ex As Exception
          SBOApplication.StatusBar.SetText("Error: " & ex.Message, SAPbouiCOM.BoMessageTime.bmt_Short, SAPbouiCOM.BoStatusBarMessageType.smt_Error)
        End Try
        oForm.Freeze(False)

    Hi Daniele,
I use a little different approach because the Freeze on a Form is like parenthesis on formula. You must be sure that the Freeze(true) are balanced by a Freeze(false).
    So my pattern is:
    Try
        oForm.Freeze(True)
' the operation you need to do with the freezed form
    Catch Ex as Exception
        ' Menage the errors here
    Finally
        oForm.Freeze(False)
    End Try
The Finally statement is executed in both case when an Exception is raised or when the code is right executed.
But I think this is not the problem in your code.
If you still having problem, probably we need to examine your sub-routine "SetMatrixValue".
It is also important to know your SAP Business One version because in the past there was a version with a problem in the refresh of matrix.
I use SAP Business One 2007A SP01 PL06 HF1 and I do not have problem with the freezing.
    Hope it helps.
    Carmine
