SAP gateway connection failed

Hi All,
Due to restructure in DMZ in our network, IP addr of our R3 server is changed from 172.20.x.x to 192.168.x.x. and the original IP is NATted for connections. We can able to access SAPGUI, but RFCs from this server to other systems is not working. We are not able to remote logon from RFC to this R3 system from other servers, because of same issue.
RFC Error:
Error Details     LOCATION: SAP-Gateway on host <sapr3> / sapgw01
Error Details     DETAIL: no connect of TP sapdp00 from host <sapbw> after 20 sec
As per the note, Note 148832 - IP address conversion with a firewall, we have added the BW system entry in gw/alternative_hostnames, still its not working.
Because of this issue we are not able to access this R3 server from BW

Is SAP Router is installed and configured. Is it registered under the customer ID in SMP. Once you register in SMP you need to import in the SAP Router.
If SAP Router is already configured, have set up a connection in OSS1 t code.
if not check the link for the Router installation https://websmp104.sap-ag.de/SAPROUTER

  • SAP Remote Connection Fails via Windows VPN.

    Hi,
I am trying to connect to a customer SAP system via Windows NT VPN. Although I am able to connect to its SAP server(succesful VPN connection), I am not able to log on to SAP with SAP GUI. I was told that the problem can be rasied due to the conflicting SAP application server numbers both in customer side  with the ones in our office. As far as I understand, both sides (customer and our office betwork) have same number ranges for SAP servers. However I can connect from any place other than our office. How can I find a solution to connect to the customer's SAP system? Thanks for your quick replies.
    Best Regards.
    UE.

Is that related to the other problem?

  • Connect to SAP gateway failed - internal error

Hi, I've developed a simple .NET application that connects to a SAP system and makes a function call using a SAP Connector Proxy object. Everything works fine in my workstation, but deployment doesn't. I'm also deploying the following libraries: SAP.Connector.dll, SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll and librfc32.dll.
The fact is that deployment works fine in some servers, but not in others. I've checked that .NET Framework is installed (both versions, 1.1 and 2.0). I've checked the "WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services" file. What else should I check? Any idea? Every suggestion would be appreciated.
The error message is the following:
Connect to SAP gateway failed Connect_PM GWHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, GWSERV=sapgw00, ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, SYSNR=00 LOCATION CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host ERROR internal error TIME Mon Nov 13 16:23:08 2006 RELEASE 640 COMPONENT NI (network interface) VERSION 37 RC -1 COUNTER 1
    And the connection string:
    CLIENT=100 USER=****** PASSWD=****** LANG=EN ASHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx SYSNR=0
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Daniel,
Can you connect to the particular system by using SAPGUI ?
if yes, then your librfc32 file is working fine.
    NCo internally consumes it's functions.
    Other points to check are
1> service name as appears from within the r/3 system [transaction : smgw]
2> NCo 2.0 uses .net 1.1 & nCo 2.5 uses .net 2.0, do you have both versions running parallely ?
3> gateway errors are infrastructure issues, please verify your firewall settings for the relevant protocols : http / https & also sap ports 3300 onwards.
the services file you have checked will list the ports that need to be opened on the firewall [in the case of multi - domain applications]
4> check in your 'hosts' file [same directory as your 'services' file]
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    For example:
         102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server
          38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host
    with respect,
    amit

However my JCO destinations were working perfectly until recently. I checked on the logon group. I have one called CLUST, which i use for this purpose.
I have also checked both service files and they have the following for the ECC server im connecting to.
3610 because its system number 10 i am connecting to.
    sapmsDMI 3610/tcp
From the JCE destinations screen i cannot even ping the server. I can though when i log on to the server through remote desktop.

    execute it

or check in VA --> SLD data supplier value --> Runtime
I checked this and i do not see aa problem. you have configuration status as valid and send reult as Success
Services file is locted on OS level of R3 system--> Goto --> Start --> Run -> (type)Drivers(enter) --> etc -> (here is services file)
check ur r/3 server entry is there or not,
I have the followng in the service file for the server

    if not add it

I know it has something to do with the entries in the services and hosts files of the portal server. Please guide me on links from help.sap.com on this.

    HI Dagfinn,
    Very helpful answer. Thanks.
    When you say :
    4. Normally, the sap system should be registered in DNS, and you should need any. --- How do I check if my SAP system is registerd in the DNS? Is there some detail explaination on this.
    Also,
    I have these observations :
    1. I checked the services file on my portal server and the entry for "sapgw00 3300/tcp" is maintained there.
    2. There is no entry of my SAP ECC box in the  hosts file of my portal server.
    3. The group PUBLIC is not maintained in SMLG transaction.
    4. I am using R3ip only in my code, there is no other place that this "R3ip" is being used.

  • Rfc conn.: Connect to SAP gateway failed , edit: Group PUBLIC not found

    Hello!
I want to create a RFC connection.
In the "Connection and Transport"-Tab I fill out the fields: Target Host, System Number and System ID.
If I save the destination the fields Gateway-Host and Gateway-Service will be automatically filled out with the same input value of the Target Host field.
But there is no gateway for this system and if I ping the destination the following error message is shown:
Error during ping operation: Connect to SAP gateway
    failed Connect_PM  TYPE=A ASHOST=sma82 SYSNR=01
    WHOST=sma82 GWSERV=sma82 PCS=1 LOCATION    CPIC (TCP/IP)

             -3 MODULE      nixxhsl.cpp LINE        643 DETAIL
NiHsLGetServNo: service name cached as unknown
    COUNTER     6
    How can I handle this?

    Hi,
I have attempted to configure the Destination with a co-worker who successfully configured a Destination to the same R/3-System but with SAP NetWeaver 2004s and not with SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 SR1.
He said that in his case he connects to the Message-Server so we activated “Load Balancing”.
The Message-Server will be found now but the Logon Group can’t be found:
Error during ping operation: Connect to message server host failed Connect_PM  TYPE=B MSHOST=xxx.xxx.xxx GROUP=PUBLIC R3NAME=TDE MSSERV=sapmsTDE PCS=1 LOCATION    CPIC (TCP/IP) on local host with Unicode ERROR       <b>Group PUBLIC not found</b> TIME        Tue Oct 02 12:28:09 2007 RELEASE     710 COMPONENT   LG VERSION     5 RC          -6 MODULE      lgxx.c LINE        4392 DETAIL      LgIGroupX COUNTER     15
But the Logon Group is PUBLIC! I checked it with SMLG.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Armin
