SAP Gateways - rdisp/max_gateways

Hello RFC-guys,
i have a question regarding the SAP gateways.
Today we have faced an situation where we were unable to open RFC connections to a specific application server.
We recieved an error wich says that the max number of sap gateways was reached.
The target system has the following entries in the syslog:
=> Maximum number of 100 connectable SAP gateways reached
The gatway trace file shows the following:

After a while the RFC connection worked again.. the syslog message was pointing to the parameter "rdisp/max_gateways". rdisp/max_gateways is set to 100 in our system.
The sapnote #978078 is not valid for me, because i have a higher patchleve of kernel 7.00
I want to know the following 2 things:
How can i monitor the gateway to gateway connections (is this possible with SMGW too?)
Have you seen this problem in your systems too and how did you solved it?

When you are in SMGW, select GOTO->Logged On Clients - this menu will show you all the connections to all systems. The entry screen to SMGW shows connections from the server that you are on to other servers and itself.
Hope that helps somewhat. It is hard to believe that you have more than 100 concurrent connections in your gateway unless you configured something to be very high for connections to external systems. I would check your logged on clients and see if there are a number of replications.
I would assume that you need to update the parameter CPIC_MAX_CONV with this error (should have shown-up when you did the system check for the installation) to be larger than 100 - I would set this to 1k or higher on PI systems or other high communication environments.
This is not an SAP Parameter - but an OS Parameter - check OSS Note: 314530

Registering a program on the SAP gateway

Hi All
I have to setup an interface to an external application from SAP using ALE and IDocs. The external application needs to register an instance on the SAP gateway server. If this is complete then you only need to setup an RFC connection with a programID (The ID that is used in the gateway instance) and it will allow a connection between SAP and the external application.
The problem I am having is that I dont know how to register the external application on the SAP gateway. Can anyone help me with this problem?

I have the follwowing issue when I try to access SAP Crystal Reports 2011 on my desktop.
I can access the SAP ERP 6.0 back-end system without problem, but when I try to connect to SAP Crystal Reports, as soon as I enter my login details, I get the following error message:

SharePoint 2013 and SAP connectivity / SAP Gateway for Microsoft and Duet Enterprise 2.0

Hello,
we are investigating the connection possibilities of SharePoint 2013 with SAP.
The basic scenario in our cases involves the transfer of documents and/or metadata from SharePoint to SAP possibly through a Workflow in SharePoint.
From my research the most promising official (no 3d-party) interfaces that can be used are the Duet Enterprise 2.0 and the SAP Gateway for Microsoft.
From my understanding both interfaces allow only the consumption of Data from SAP to SharePoint and not vice versa. Moreover the interoperability of documents seems not be supported. Are CRUD operations from a SharePoint native lists to SAP supported?
Can someone please clarify this topics?
I have found lots of documentation concerning the interfaces but not a clear answer to this questions.

Hi Ioannis,
It seems that there is no built in method to get data from SharePoint list in SAP.
As a workaround, we can export SharePoint list to excel and then use that spread sheet as a source data in SAP.

I installed CI instance fine and i am stopped here with this error at the end of DB instance install. Could someone let me know what could be the reason for this. Is there any fix or workaround to continue the install.

at the end of the database instance installation SAPInst is doing some RFCs to the CI.
The logfile states that the gateway on host hostSAP with the systemnumber 09 is not reachable.
Please check if you have started the central instance on this machine.

Hello. When I setup the databridge it errors out. When I check for processes, it shows sapmsj2e as being on port 3601 in my services file. But I can't launch a webdyn pro or access my machine with the sap gui. Any ideas?

Connect to SAP gateway failed - internal error

Hi, I've developed a simple .NET application that connects to a SAP system and makes a function call using a SAP Connector Proxy object. Everything works fine in my workstation, but deployment doesn't. I'm also deploying the following libraries: SAP.Connector.dll, SAP.Connector.Rfc.dll and librfc32.dll.
The fact is that deployment works fine in some servers, but not in others. I've checked that .NET Framework is installed (both versions, 1.1 and 2.0). I've checked the "WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\services" file. What else should I check? Any idea? Every suggestion would be appreciated.

Can you connect to the particular system by using SAPGUI ?
if yes, then your librfc32 file is working fine.
NCo internally consumes it's functions.
Other points to check are
1> service name as appears from within the r/3 system [transaction : smgw]
2> NCo 2.0 uses .net 1.1 & nCo 2.5 uses .net 2.0, do you have both versions running parallely ?
3> gateway errors are infrastructure issues, please verify your firewall settings for the relevant protocols : http / https & also sap ports 3300 onwards.
the services file you have checked will list the ports that need to be opened on the firewall [in the case of multi - domain applications]
4> check in your 'hosts' file [same directory as your 'services' file]
This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
space.
Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

However my JCO destinations were working perfectly until recently. I checked on the logon group. I have one called CLUST, which i use for this purpose.
I have also checked both service files and they have the following for the ECC server im connecting to.
3610 because its system number 10 i am connecting to.
sapmsDMI 3610/tcp
From the JCE destinations screen i cannot even ping the server. I can though when i log on to the server through remote desktop.

I have done this. i left hostname as "blank" gave service as "sapgw10"

so i guess its not successful. when i look at rz70 of a server where this works correctly its not succsessful either
if it is success then technical system name will be in sld
to restart sld --> /sld --> administration --> stop server --> restart server
or check in VA --> SLD data supplier value --> Runtime
I checked this and i do not see aa problem. you have configuration status as valid and send reult as Success
Services file is locted on OS level of R3 system--> Goto --> Start --> Run -> (type)Drivers(enter) --> etc -> (here is services file)
check ur r/3 server entry is there or not,

when ilook at the remote gateway properties in SMGW this is what i see on the R/3 server. ive looked at my other system which i can connect to and there isnt much of a difference in the parameters. How can test this to see if it works?

In past 4-5 days, some of messages are not processed in our XI production server.
I got the following error in the falied messages:
Seem to be some parameter need to be update for sap gateway.

Test the status of the RFC destinations in transaction SM59 of XI and R/3 systems.

Hello!
I want to create a RFC connection.
In the "Connection and Transport"-Tab I fill out the fields: Target Host, System Number and System ID.
If I save the destination the fields Gateway-Host and Gateway-Service will be automatically filled out with the same input value of the Target Host field.
But there is no gateway for this system and if I ping the destination the following error message is shown:

I have attempted to configure the Destination with a co-worker who successfully configured a Destination to the same R/3-System but with SAP NetWeaver 2004s and not with SAP Netweaver CE 7.1 SR1.
He said that in his case he connects to the Message-Server so we activated Load Balancing.
The Message-Server will be found now but the Logon Group cant be found:

Its problem related to port...
You have to get the port open from ur side as well as the client side...the problem will be solved.....
