SAP getting rid of Netweaver in Business By Design
These are rumours, SAP refused to comment on this but german business magazine Wirtschaftswoche and german IT-Newssite Golem are reporting, SAP is getting rid of Netweaver in BBD due to performance issues. I feel like this may be an opportunity to discuss Netweaver performance in general.

here is an article about an SAP SaaS Solution that is build on top of a multi tenant Middleware from SAP. SAP has this middleware from a aquired company named "Frictionless Commerce" (i never hear this company name bevor ). Maybe this is also the new platform for byDesign.

OK then, now v7sp03 for microsoft has hit the shelves, you can change the logo !!!
It is quite easy.
Have the logo file ready in either BMP, GIF or JPG format.
Put it in your "Server Install -> DataWebFolders[Appset]" folder (so where you keep your files).
In ApplicationSet parameters, add the parameter COMPANY_LOGO and in the options type the name of the file you just put on the server.
Now if you restart BPC for Excel, the second excel page that pops up should be showing your new logo or graphic (mine did).
The use of the logo has been documented in the admin manual -> working with appset parameters
Some tips.
I wanted not to clutter the filesystem so i put my logo in the appsetpublications folder and added the path accordingly in the parameter (so now it reads appsetpublicationslogoname.jpg instead of just logoname.jpg).
If you do not supply a name (only the parameter), your second Excel window (normally holding the graphic) will not appear. That could be an alternative too if you find that whole thing annoying.

When I see the Visualize Plan for SQLScript it show Create Temp Index at many Places.
It also shows unsupported operator order CS_JOIN over CS_AGGREGATION.

I have a scenario where I am using a nested SQLScript based calc view. One view (child view) retrieves a relatively small data set, then the main CV takes that and joins with a bunch of other data from another schema.
When I started out, just the nested portion of (child calc view), takes roughly 800ms to return it's resultset, for which I was pleased. Now, when I added some other joins onto that dataset in the main CV, I am seeing my runtime spike to approximately 16 seconds, with 15 seconds being spent on a "Create Temp Index" process that only results in 12 rows (from what I can see).
Now the question becomes - since I have identified where 95+% of my runtime is being generated, how can I really pinpoint what operation is causing this? I was thinking the ID column (shown in the details) may offer some clues if one knew how to locate the details in a system table somewhere?
Otherwise, all I can see in the VizPlan is that YES there is a long running component, but I have no idea what it might be, therefore can't do anything about it

How to get rid of compounded keys on WebI report

I am (very) new to Business Objects and Web Intelligence, and have created a Universe on a BW multicube.<br />
When I setup the WebI report doc, the Fiscal year (and Fiscal Period/year) are showing with the Fiscal Variant as a prefix (e.g. Z3/2009). <br /> <br />
Using a formula to 'strip' the characteristic to 2009 confuses the data (as there is no 'key' of 2009, only Z3/2009).
Filtering by Fiscal Variant (the Z3 part) doesn't seem to change things, or even putting the fiscal variant in as a column (these techniques used to work quite nicely in Bex and Web Bex).<br />
Is there some magic I have missed in the Universe building process (which I have purposefully kept very simple, as there are plenty of these to build!!).<br /> <br />
I am sure folks have seen (and sovled) this before, as Fiscal Year (and Fiscal Period/year) must be used often, and these are standard SAP time fields.<br />
However, i can find nothing in help or even forums (perhaps I am not searching for correct key words).<br /> <br />
I haven't tried building the universe off a Bex Query, and am kind of reluctant to do this, as it builds in another layer to maintain.<br /> <br />
Anyone know how to get rid of the compounded part of the (fiscal year) objects?<br /> <br />

I am also facing the same problem.
I have an object Showing (TR/1223xxxx). I was able to remove "TR/" in bex by dragging the compunded object in Rows section and supressing it to "No Display" but in Webi I am still getting (TR/1223xxxx).
In Webi if I create a formula and trim the above value, i am getting "#UNAVAILABLE" in Key Figures, i.e. measures (smar Measures)
Is there a way to get rid of this compunded value.
One more requirement, in Bex Query, I am giving dislay as "Key and Text" but in Webi, i get only "Text" for that object. I have to explicitply drag and use the Object - key (detail object of that particular dimension). Is there a way to get both Key and Text in Webi using a single object.

Can I get rid of parts of the JRE for my app?
I am trying to figure out how to easily deploy a stand-alone desktop Swing application. It's more like Microsoft Word than the typical Swing business app that deals with networks and databases. I'd like to make this easily downloadable by regular people, like a 10-year old who has installed an IM client, or a 70-year old who has downloaded the latest version of a browser, i.e., just download an installation file and then click to install in the relatively standard manner in which Windows apps are installed.
What I am definitely trying to avoid is making the user go to Sun's Java distribution website, which is written by computer geeks for computer geeks. If a potential user sees that, they'll get confused, give-up, and I'll have lost a potential user.. Since a Swing application that is developed and tested using an earlier version of the JRE won't necessarily work with a later version, I can't make the assumption that as long as the latest JRE is installed on the user machine, everything is fine. As far as I can tell, I need to download a self-contained version of the JRE that I developed with in order to guarantee that the app will run as expected. I also don't want the user to have to download a 15 Mb 1.5 JRE, or the purported 50 Mb 1.6 JRE just to be able to run my little program. (I'm really starting to see why there are no popular Java desktop apps.)
So my question is - if I compile my application down into machine code from binary code, does anyone know if can I get away with running it with a stripped-down JRE? I'm wondering if I can get rid of parts of the JRE that deal with things like interpreting bytecode, networking or database access, none of which I need to worry about. Sun's legal department might not like this, but is this at all technically feasible? I'm actually happy to hear about any ideas regarding shrinking the size of the distribution. I am a big fan of Excelsior Jet. I tried out the free version about a year-and-a-half ago, and was pretty happy with it. It was actually the only machine-code compiler I tried out of several that worked. If I ever get to the point where I can start selling my app, I expect that I'll use it. I've been checking the website every so often since then, and reading about the next version, where a JRE can be included in the distribution. That helped spark my original question. While the worry about making sure my application had the right JRE version will be solved, it still bugs me that I have to ship so much unnecessary JRE code. (I blame Sun for that, not Excelsior Jet.) I was wondering if it was at all technically feasible to strip out the unnecessary code, irrespective of the legal issues. When compiled to byte-code, my program is under 1 MB. When I compiled it to machine code under JDK 1.4, it was about 5 MB. I imagine that compiling to machine-code with the included 1.5 JRE, after compression, will result in a size in the 15-20 MB range. And this after refactoring my program to where it's about 1/3 it's original size. I'm really worried about the direction this is going, and I don't even want to think about what including the 1.6 JRE will require.
Where did you read that I've been programming Java since '97. I was a contractor at Sun between 1995 and 1997, and started working on Java 1.0 apps back then, but I don't ever remember mentioning that. If you asked because you're thinking I should know more about JVM/JRE issues, you're probably right, but I focus almost exclusively on higher-level application and GUI/Graphics issues. The deep-down Java stuff makes me break out into a cold-sweat. -
How do I get rid of the underline in text - tried style decoration:none

I have several devices under my apple id account. 2 iPhones (me and my wife ). 2 iPads also me and my wife and my iMac
The problem is that if somebody calls me for example for face time all the other devices are also ringing, because in face time my phone number is showing and also my wife's phone number. How can I get rid of my phone number on her iphone and ipad and vice versa

That isn't due to not having a phone number on her iPad. You can use FaceTime with any iPad using an email address as the "phone number". And if her iPad isn't a first generation iPad, if she uses the same Apple ID for FaceTime on both her iPhone and iPad, her iPhone number can be used as well (see iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage).
If her iPad is not verifying her Apple ID for FaceTime it's probably because the Apple servers are busy. Keep trying and it should verify. If you continue to have problems with this, look through the troubleshooting steps here: iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation. -

This is actually a link to a website and an extract form an article I wrote. No matter what I do can I get rid of that ....11 after home. How do I get rid of text in the browser fill area after site publication?
I want to thank all ot the folks who have helped me here in the Adobe Community. I'm new at this thing and have done fairly well with the exception of a few problems between the monitor and the chair.
I have published my site on the business catalyst temp host. I also uploaded the site to a ftp host (ATT web hosting), aabeaumont.org. Today and yesterday I have a page title text showing up in the brouser fill area on both hosts. What am I doing to cause this issue and what do I have to do to get rid of the unwanted text. The text shows up differently as I go to each page in the primary site map.

It may be possible that the HTML for head (Page Properties -> Metadata) section contains a tag etc. that hasn't been properly closed. You may want to check that once.

Got your email and couldn't clearly see what you were talking about because you reduced the resolution on a busy background. So I went to the iTunes Store to find if there was something similar.
That is the Facebook Pages Manager, and is telling you you have notifications pending in Facebook.
The Pages refers to the "pages" (different views) of content in Facebook, nothing to do with Apple's Pages.

Duplicate Groups and how to get rid of them
Somehow (maybe by having sync from iTunes and from MobileMe I have duplicate groups of calendars and contacs. With the same information in each group, I can't get rid of one set or the other. How can I do that and which one should I get rid of (if there's a choice)?
If you are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone, if you also sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process, this does nothing but duplicate your contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
Prior to firmware update 3.0, it wasn't possible to sync contacts and calendar events over the air with a MobileMe account and/or with an Exchange account and sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process. Apple included the ability to do both primarily for those syncing business contacts and calendar events over the air with an Exchange account who also wanted to sync personal contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on a personal computer at home via the iTunes sync process. When doing so, you can view business and personal contacts and calendar events combined or separately. When doing this with a MobileMe account, this does nothing but duplicate the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone.
To get rid of the duplicates, deselect sync contacts and calendar events direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences followed by selecting Apply.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Select your MobileMe account.
Turn Contacts and Calendars off for over the air syncing.
A warning message will be provided indicating this will erase all contacts and calendar events downloaded from and kept synchronized with your MobileMe online address book and calendar along with an option to store this data locally on your iPhone. Decline the prompt to store this data locally on your iPhone.
This will not erase the contacts and calendar events on your iPhone that were synced direct with the Address Book and iCal on your Mac via the iTunes sync process.
Follow this by turning Contacts and Calendars back on for over the air syncing. You will be provided a merge prompt, which you want to select.
This will get rid of the duplicates on your iPhone. -
My iMac (intel based) all aluminum, OSx 10.6.8, 2.5 GHz Processor, bought about 6 months ago. It was working fine till now. Last few days a hazy blur patch appears in the center of the screen. Before I make an assumption that there is something wrong with the LCD screen.
Both sides of the iMac's protective glass may just need cleaning.
The protective glass on your iMac is held on by strong magnets.
Power down and unplug the iMac.
You need two small suction cups to remove the glass from the iMac.
These suction cups maybe able to be found in hardware store or home improvement store.
These suction cups are of the type that can be used on window panes to hold small ornaments or hanging items attached to the window glass.
Place the suction cups at top right and left sides of the glass, make strong suction with the cups and slowly pull the glass forward toward you.
Once you have the top loose, grab the top opposite sides of the glass and pull the rest of the glass panel away from all of the magnets.
Place the glass on something soft like a soft heavy terry towel.
To clean the glass, use a non-ammonia type glass cleaner with a non-abrasive cloth.
A fairly decent size micro fiber cloth will work fine.
Throughly clean both sides of the glass, and replace the glass by putting the suction cups back , line up the bottom of the glass and attach the bottom of the glass, first.
Then slowly move the glass panel inwards holding the suction cups and get the glass close to the top and allow it to "snap" in place.
Restart the iMac and see if the blurriest went away.
If it didn't, then you may have to bring in your iMac to an Apple store or authorized Apple service center for servicing or a replacement LCD panel.
Depending on how much you paid for this iMac, get an estimate for repair.
It may cost more than you paid,for the iMac
You may have to consider purchasing another computer. -

In the channel configuration i'm on tab "parameters" >> tab "advanced" and i checked the box "advanced".
I get "additional parameters" screen
There is a box where i can fill name and value for parameters.
If i put:
name = XI.AckFinal
value = false,
i still get the acknowledgements from the database.
What must i do to get rid of the acknowledgements?
