I would think slight differently than the answer what you might have already got.
First: You have said you have been working as a project coordinator for last 5 years so that effectively means you are already familiar about the following:
Tracking Project Milestone, cost & resources
Scheduling
Cost & Planning Budget
Project strategy and risk mitigation etc.
And if that is true then why not to think about Project Systems module in SAP as probably you might be able to use some of your experiences that you might have earned over a period of time.
SAP Project Systems is an intergrated project management tool used for planning and managing projects, It has several tools that enables the project management process such as cost and planning budget, scheduling, requisitioning of materials and services.
Moreover SAP PS has very close integration with the other modules in SAP like SAP Finance & Controilling, Material Management, Sales & Distribution, Plant Maintenence and others.

Users getting disconnected when the sap cluster group failover happens.

Hello all,
We have done the HA installation on mysaperp2005(ecc6.0).
The failover groups are sapcluster group(ascs+scs instance) and the Database(DB group).The central and the dialog instances are installed locally and do not form the part of the cluster.
When ever the sapcluster group failover to the second node.The users gets disconnected and need to login again.
How can we configure the nodes so that the users do not get disconnected during the failover of the sap groups and the users are not disturbed.

Hi Satyajit,
This is exactly the reason why it is called High Availability and not Full Availability.
When the node where Database runs fails, the memory structure (Instance) associated with the Database is lost and needs to be restarted on the other node. This means that all the transactions which have not been commited to the database needs to be rolled back. Hence the users doing insert/updates into the database will be disconnected from the System.
While the database is unavailable the Work processes go into a restart mode wherein they wait for the DB to come up again and keep pining it.
Database becomes available again after the Instance is started on the other node with Instance recovery and the users can connect back. Work processes recognize that the database is available and everything is back to normal.
In case of Central Instance (enqueue) failover, the lock information is lost and hence again the transactions need to be rolled back hence the users will be disconnected if they are doing an Insert/Update into the System. System becomes available once the Enqueue service is made available again after the failover.
So in either case there will be user disconnects as HA doesnot cover the memory structure failovers.

Hi Krishma,
You can save this workbook to your PC and email it to your user. They need to open the workbook (with Bex running in Excel). When they click the refresh button they system will prompt them to log on (if they are already not logged in) and then the queries will be executed.

LKM SAP BW to Oracle (SQLLDR) generates sintax error in ABAP code.

We are installing a SAP BW KM's in ODI 11g.
Actually, we are able to make reverse ingeneering succesfully.
Now we want to use the LKM in order to extract SAP data.
The KM fails, in step Generate ABAP Code. The code is uploaded to SAP system but with sintaxis errors.

F.05 - Posting Logic - How are the open items grouped?

Hi,
I am trying to understand how the posting logic works. We are on ECC 6, Classic Ledger and use F.05 for the revaluation. I am trying to revalue a Open Item managed balance sheet account, that has open items since 2009. It has a total of 480 open items, but after reval system posts only 19 entries. I am trying to understand how SAP groups these open items, what criteria is used to group open items to different documents. The totals are matching, but I am failing to understand the how SAP combined these different open items into a smaller set that were actually posted. Can anyone please enlighten me with this logic?

In terms of open item valuation, open items are grouped by the Vendor/customer and the transaction currency of the open item. But if corporate group of the vendor/customer are same and group vendor/customer is checked in settings of valuation method, the grouping will be based on corporate group and transaction currency of the open item.
For example: You have 6 open items (say invoices)
Local currency is USD
1. Vendor ABC (GL account 160000) - 100EUR => diff 3$
2. Vendor ABC (GL account 160000) - 150INR => diff 2$
3. Vendor ABC (GL account 160000) - 200AUD => diff -2$
4. Vendor ABC (GL account 160000) - 300EUR => diff 1$
5. Vendor XYZ (GL account 160000) - 350EUR => diff 1.5$ (corporate group - A123)
6. Vendor TTT (GL account 161000) - 200EUR => diff 0.5$ (corporate group - A123)
If you carry out foreign currency valuation now, Assuming that each of these 6 open items gives valuation difference.
1 & 4 will be grouped together and 5 & 6 will be grouped together.
Once the open items are grouped, the following logic applies into each group.
If post per line check is checked in the settings of valuation method, then each differences will be separate line item.
If post per line check is not checked, then all the gains will be grouped as one line item and losses will be grouped as one line item.

How to connect weighbridge to sap

Hi Friends,
I have a requirement from my client.
My client having Way bridge, After lorry coming That vehicle weight taken by a device and its directly prints as gross weight than after unloading it takes the tare weight of the lorry with key gate entry numberand again directly prints, with these prints my client desides the actual weight of the goods.
So now I need to connect this data to my costomized gateentry programe (Module pool)
that when ever the lorry come it should updata the data automaticaly update the data in my programe
so friends for this I need your suggetions.

I have devlop a Gate Entry Programe in Module pool.
So here i need at the time of Gate Entry through my programe it should update automaticaly the Accual Gross weight of goods for that we have Wave Bridge to weight the Vehcle with Goods Minus Emty vehcle Equals Actual gross weight of Goods.
We have a Device (MettelerTolredo 8142 PRO) to connect Wave Bridge and PC after instaletion of some software it ll transfer the data into PC.
SO here i need whenever the data updated in PC i want the the data automaticaly should come into gate entry ie no body could not change the actual data.
For this i need your suggetions that how can i link with & how it will know that data updated.

be a weighbridge or weigh feeder thing, right?,
use the function module ws_execute to run the vb exe..
It might be storing the values in some text file or so...read from
that text file the return value using fm ws_read or so..

The solution is like, through the vb program you create a file and stores it in the local PC's desktop or in any folder in which the Weigh Bridge is connected and write a FTP program in SAP .Scheduled the program in BG so that it will fetch the file from the directory and send the data to SAP.

SAP ECC 6.0 Behavior on Windows 2003 MSCS

Dear Experts,
I have SAP ECC 6.0 run on Windows 2003 Enterprise SP 64-bit Cluster (MSCS) and when we run testing on failover we got the following result:
All cluster groups in node1 - Shutdown Node 1 - Node 2 Up
- Whoever login to Node 1 will be disconnect during failover
- Whoever login to node 2 and run transaction during failover will be hang till failover done successfully
- Whoever login to node 2 and only run the transaction after the failvover done will not feell any disruption
- New logon session is failed until basis is bringing online the following in cluster administrator under SAP Group (SAP SID 00 Service & SAP SID 01 Service)
The same result if we shutdown Node 2 and all cluster group failover to node 1.
Both services are install local in each node and start option has been made "manual"
My question:
1. Is the above result is common?
2. Is there anyway to make SAP SID 00 & 01 to be automatic failover?

All your questions/queries looks common to me...
In any given scenario, resources both SAP & DB based resoureces have to be online for you to access/logon to the system using SAPGUI. And it's very common that, unless resources (either service or instance specific) are online at cluster level the corresponding resources in SAP MMC won't be online. In your query one of that was, about 00 and 01 services, YES they are 2 different instances of your SAP build and corresponding entries at cluster level.
And it's expected behavior that, while fail-over or fail-back of cluster resoureces from one cluster node to other cluster possible cluster node that, resources goes into offline and then mover over/move back and then comes online. So as its a thumb rule for given seconds/minutes (based on the resources) resources at cluster level will be offline before they come online. So during this time you will not be able logon to your SAP system because its not only cluster resoureces but also SAP MMC corresponding entries also will be offline....Along with cluster resources come online the resources/entreis in SAP MMC also comes automatically.
And it's correct to setup, Cluster Service to 'Manual' in High Availabilty Setup.
New logon session is failed until basis is bringing online the following in cluster administrator under SAP Group (SAP SID 00 Service & SAP SID 01 Service)
The same result if we shutdown Node 2 and all cluster group failover to node 1.

As far as adding users and groups to the system, this is down through the CMC. The Business Objects Enterprise Administrators guide should help you with these tasks:

To add users/groups to the BOE system, you have to go into the CMC/Authentication section and click on the SAP tab. In here, you configure your SAP system information and add the groups that you wish to import into BOE. Once you add the groups through here, the user accounts and groups will be mapped in to the Users and Groups section of the CMC. From here, you can treat them like any other group in the system.
You add users to the SAP groups the same way you would for BW or any other SAP product. If a new user is added to an SAP group that is imported into BOE, then that user will be able to logon to the BOE system.

You cannot add a user to a SAP group, create an enterprise user group and add both SAP group and AD user to that.

Replacing Standard-Groups like SAP_J2EE_ADMIN with customized groups

Hello everybody!
I'd like to give a group of users access to our XI-Java-stack with permissions that are a bit more differenciated than the standard SAP-groups. For example, I want users to be able to view all messages, but not all of their payloads (we use different namespaces for different departments, so this might be an approach to differentiate).
I have a bit of experience with the UME of Enterprise Portal and I've been able to assign Permissions (i.e. Roles) to users using the groups based on mapped ABAP-Roles. In XI I couldn't find any possibility to do something like this up to now. In the XI-User-Administrator I can view Roles and Groups, but all I get is a note that they are write-protected and can't be edited. I also haven't found a possibility to assign UME-Actions to my ABAP-mapped groups.
Who can help me? Thanks in advance!

Looks like there is no possible solution for this. I asked the teacher at my ADM200 course about this and he also didn't know anything

SAP MSCS Windows 2008 "Client Access point"

As per the installation guide " GuideSAP ERP 6.0 - EHP4 Ready SR1 ABAP on Windows: Oracle" page 147 , step 10 of "Creating sap services " , we are trying to add Client access point , however we are not able to add the virtual host name for scs instance . Here we have one query , should we enter a new virtual hostname as it is not accepting the existing cluster hostname and in which IP class ( public or private ) we should register.
We have node 1( hostname.domain) ,node 2( hostname.domain) and one cluster name ( clustername.domain) .
Which Virtual host name should i provide while adding the "Client
Access Point" ?

If u have created a virtual host already for the SAP group u can give that one and proceed else you need to enter a new virtual host for SAP group. This hostname and IP address are different than the three mentioned by you.

Hi,
As I said earlier, please check the Installation Guide for all steps for MSCS. Now for SAP installation in MSCS, dailog instance installation is mandatory. In your case, you have to install the dialog instance in Node B (As you said CI was installed in Node A). Install the dialog instance on Node B. (Note: make sure that system number for Dialog instance on Node B should be same as Central instance system number on Node A and installed should be done on local disk) and check.
Regarding your query it is displaying correctly as Node A 01 as it installed locally. Similarly Dialog instance has to be installed locally.
Kindly revert incase of any queries.

The little SAP flag - should it inspire confidence?

sorry, just have to have a little rant here -
I've been browsing some of the forums I like to frequent recently and I noticed a new and highly active poster - "Excellent" I thought! Then I saw that the new poster was from SAP! "Brilliant!", I thought. "We're going to get a lot more help on this topic - great stuff."
Then I started reading some of the replies.
"Not so brilliant" ,I thought.
"Incorrect/false information", I thought.
So I responded to the posts and corrected where I could, and gave a little advise.
Now I'm used to reading wrong and misleading info in the forums - but not from posters with the little SAP flag against their name.
I'm wondering if SAP should have a policy of junior employee SCN members (users with less than several hundred forum points perhaps) not having the little SAP flag against their name.
I trust the advise given to me by someone with the SAP affiliation - and if I didn't know any better I'd take their word as gospel - yes I'm a bit gullible...
This in mind - is there some process to "certify" SAP employees before they post in SCN - or some guidelines for SAP employees so that they only post when they know the answer?
Driving along the snow filled mountain passes of technical forums is hard enough - but when the little flags that supposedly mark the way direct you off a cliff - it becomes a tricky proposition indeed.

I've frankly been scared off from using the "Abuse" button to report incorrect information because none of the categories describe the case of incorrect answers and I can't find any documentation of what happens when that button is pressed.
Maybe there can be a little "When to use the abuse button" section added to the Rules of Engagement? - [http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/HOME/RulesofEngagement]
With regards to the SAP employee posting wrong answers issues - this is definitely a black-eye for SAP whenever it happens. It sounds to me like responsible participation on SCN is something that all SAP groups should be aware of internally. Since I don't have a little flag by my name, there is no way I can tell if this is the case or not
