SAP GUI installation issue.

Hi All,
I am trying to install SAP GUI640v16 on my machine (Windows XP).
In the middle of the installation, I'am getting an
error like:
Your computer needs to be restarted due to pending system changes. It is not safe to continue without a reboot.
How do i resolve it?

I have only seen this at the beginning of the installation. You can check the following Registry Key to determine if a restart is required:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\UpdateExeVolatile
Value in RegEdit Meaning
0x00000000 (0) No pending restart.
0x00000001 (1) A software update removal is pending a restart.
0x00000002 (2) A software update installation is pending a restart.
'// 0x00000003 (3) Both an installation and a removal are pending a restart.
As Rich mentioned, cancelling the install, Restarting and re-running the installation should fix the problem.

SAP GUI Compatibility issue with Windows 2008R2 64 Bit

Hi Gurus
Is anyone experienced connectivity issue with SAP GUI (32bit) on Windows 2008R2 64bit? Except base version of 7.3 every Service Pack failing
to connect, Strange thing was it was working with SP5 in WINDOWS 7 64bit.

SAP Gui 730 issue with crobu theme

Hello Frineds, Our developer team is facing some strange issue. They are able using corbu theme in SAP GUI 720. but after the new SAP GUI 730 implementaion, they are not able to use this theme. As far as one can understand, it's a rendering problem with SAP GUI 730.
This can also be compatibility issue with your kernel and application.
I would suggested you to check all above options.

SAP GUI EDITOR issue

Hello Experts,
I am having some issue in the SAP GUI editor.
Whenver I open the SCREEN painter. It opens in line editor with error "EU_SCRP_WN32 : timeout during allocate / CPIC-CALL: 'ThSAPCMRCV'"
My graphic layout editor option is checked.
The Component version is SAP EHP 1 for SAP Solution Manager 7.0
GUI version is 640
My other box whose component version ECC 6.0. There editor is opening in the Graphical format.

SAP GUI Memory issues on Windows Terminal Server 2003!!

Hi All
We are currently experiencing serious issues with our terminal servers and SAP GUI. It appears that SAP GUI is consuming a large amount of memory inorder to run, which in term is causing our terminal servers to page more.
I am not sure where to start with this issue so any help would be great!

Citrix won´t help much, it´s "just" a different protocol between the client and the server, Citrix itself will use even more memory.
Why are you sure, that the reason for this is the SAPGUI and not any other Office program?
Let´s calculate:
I´m writing this message on a TS too. My Outlook (2003) consumes ~ 32 MB memory (incl. virtual), I have 4 SAPGUI windows open which consume 64 MB and some telnet sessions (no Word, Excel etc.)
Let say roughly 128 MB all in all.
If you have 2000 users with 20 servers, means, 100 users on one server, that would be 12,8 GB memory - not caclulated other services running on that box (printserver etc.) including the operating system itself.
If your users have Internet Explorer (or other browsers) open too, you will need to add that amount too. 128 MB per user is the minimum.
If users use BEx (or other .NET based BI developer tools), that amount will doubled (at least).
SAP recommends a PC with at least 256 MB memory to run a SAPGUI with acceptable performance, do you have that much per users? How big are your single servers?

SAP Netweaver Installation Issue on Windows 7

I was trying to install Netweaver 7.3 (Java) in my windows 7 and when I was in step 30 of 33 (Java components deployment)
I got the following error
Error message is 'undefinednull:ram-PC:50004 Reason: com.sap.engine.services.rmi_p4.P4IOException: Cannot open connection to host: 10.10.0.10 and port: 50004. Check if the host and port specified are correct and AS Java is up and running.. SOLUTION: Check 'undefined' and '' for more information.).
I have successfully created loopback adapter and able to ping the IP address of the adapter . But when SAP server is trying to connect to this adapter using port 50004 and Its getting the error message . I don't know how to assign the port number to this loop back adapter.
I tried to use telnet but it failed . (telnet ram-PC 50004 )
loopback adapter IP : 10.10.0.10
Host name : ram-PC
As I am new to SAP , Please let me know is there any file where I need to define host and port ? Do I need to update service.msc file from windows\system32\drivers\etc\ ? If so, what would be the service name and port ?
Steps taken to resolve this issue :
updated windows host file with IP and host name (10.10.0.10 ram-PC)
updated windows service file with host and port (ram-PC 50004) - This step might be wrong (Do I need to use hostname or service name ?)
uninstalled Antivirus
Turned off windows firewall
Added loopback adapter IP address to Windows firewall inbound rules .
None of the above steps resolved the error . Please help me on the above issue.any help would be appreciated .

SAP GUI LOGON ISSUE

Whilst trying some BASIS general transactions with user logon settings, which I dont remember, now it does not allow me to log on using my SAP user id
I get a message Log on with a dialog user
Could you please explain why I have this problem and whats the solution.

In the next logical step within our environment a uninstallation of the SAP GUI gets started:

Every first installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 is affected. This is a cross-platform issue (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1). If there was our older package version (SAP GUI 7.30 PL4) installed, the installation of SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 gets done without problems.
Every new client with the SAP GUI 7.30 PL8 assigned or the re-installation of it, and every first installation of the package on a client without SAP GUI leads to the mentioned issue - package gets installed with the mentioned error, afterwards the uninstallation gets started by our environment and finally the installation gets done with the second try. This is not a practicable method for our support staff.
Are there any hints how to resolve this issue. (A upgrade to the newest patch level of SAP GUI is not a practicable solution)

Hello Christian,
For older releases of the SAP GUI client a good approach is to create package for uninstalling old SAP GUI. Depending on the state of the old SAP GUI's you're upgrading those may not be "clean" enough to warrant upgrading in place.
The older GUI's have component's no longer provided with the newer releases so most recommendations are to uninstall completely an do a fresh installation.
I credit Matt Fraser for this information and suggest reading his documentation. The last 4 articles are germane to you're situation. I hope this helps you.

An issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4

We are having an issue using the COM components supplied with SAP GUI 6.2 or 6.4. We used to have SAP 4.6c and now we have 5.0. When we were on 4.6c, we used these COM components to logon and execute RFC calls and we had much success. Now that we are on 5.0, we cant seem to instance any SAP functions that have something to do with SAP Workflow. We have experienced this problem when using VB6 or .NET, but our existing code that always worked is in VB 6.0.
SAP Components used:
o SAP Logon Control
o SAP Function Control
o Librfc32.dll
o Other supporting C DLLs and/or COM object supplied with the SAP GUI installation.
For example, if we want to call the RFC ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT, this code fails in VB6 when the Set objworkflow = objFuncCtrl.Add(strFunction) line of code executes. Instead of returning an instance of the object ARCHIV_CONNECTION_INSERT function, no object is created. In 6.2, SAP raises no errors, but the object we are trying to create is still Nothing. If we use 6.4, SAP raises an error SAP data type not supported via a message box and then the object is still = Nothing. Interestingly enough, the 6.2 GUI COM controls dont display the error dialog. The message box that is shown comes from the SAP Function COM Object "SAP.Functions" (wdtfuncs.ocx).
Now, what is interesting is if we use the same code to call a standard function or custom function that doesnt have anything to do with SAP Workflow, then the code works fine. Again, all of our code used to work just fine on an SAP 4.6 system.

all users' GUI is 640 with patch 24.
We use SAP GUI installation server to deploy new version GUI.
in the test period, We find uninstall 640 GUI, will cause IE problem.
IE can't open URL in new tab(IE7) or window(IE6) after uninstall 640.
Any guys met some issue?
BTW, where I can find detail GUI uninstall log.

SAP GUI 7.20 patch version 4 error: runtime error

Hi Experts,
My developement getting error while running\opeing crystal reports
the error is
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error
Runtime Error !
program M:\spvgui8...
R6030 - CRT not intialized
let me know if any patch is required to opening the crystal report

Hi,
Click the Systems Tab------>Click the User Defined button
In the Description tab Type a name like Development or Production etc
In the Application server tab type the IP of the Application server
System ID tab give the system ID like D01 or P01 whatever is your sid
System Number 00
Then click Add and logon.

Graphs dont work in SAP GUI 7.10

Hi,
We were using a Bar Chart in one of our programs using the function module BARC_GRAPHIC_PBO. Upon an upgrade of the SAPGUI from 6.4 to 7.10 the graph is not displayed. The graph seems to be active because a double click in the area where the graph should be takes us to the appropriate function. None of the graphs are getting displayed. Has anyone faced similar problems? Any pointers?

Microsoft Foundation Classes, so the redistributable files of MFC and Visual C++ are
needed to run the ActiveX control.
SAPGUI 6.20 depends on Microsoft Redistributable Files Version 6.
SAPGUI 6.40 depends on Microsoft Redistributable Files Version 7.
The redistributable files are included in the SAP Gui Installation.
