SAP HANA Rapid deployment sloution

Hi,
What is SAP HANA Rapid deployment sloution?
Priya

Hi Priya,
RDS Packages are the predeveloped contents for HANA which the customer can import into their system and make use of these models.
Basically RDS will contain set of predefined Attribute,Analytic and Calclation Views for different business modules like SD(Sales & Distribution),MM(Material Mgmt),LE(Logistics) etc.
The customers have to make sure that the underlying tables used for these views are existing in their HANA system so that they can simply download these RDS Contents and can create reports out of them.
You will have the following Content structure in HANA Studio after importing the RDS package.
sap->
    ecc->
       fnd,mm,sd,le
In short,RDS packages are nothing but predeveloped contents for different business modules.

  • SAP HANA ERP on AWS License Issue

    Hi,
what licenses are available for the ERP version of SAP HANA for deployment on AWS? What is a MINISAP license? We tried to set up the ERP Trial from the SAP Cloud Appliance Library but can't access it via SAPGUI. Our expert says, the MINISAP license is valid for hosting on 64GB or less. Since we have chosen the smallest memory model available, it looks like we can't run it on AWS, which cannot be true. The system comes up, AWS charges money, but we can't access it. What did we do wrong? Seems like a few people here in this community use it already. I'd appreciate someone telling us how to fix this issue. We do not have problems with our BW instance which works well.
    Best regards,
    Chris

    Hello Christian,
Trial systems in CAL come with a 30 day temporary license, already included. There is no need to install any other license into the system.
So your problem is, that you started an instance of the ERP Foundation Extension Trial System in CAL using your AWS account and you used the default settings in CAL (no changes to firewall or instance types. After 30 minutes or so the traffic light in the CAL UI under "INSTANCES" shows a green light - but you are still not able to connect with SAPGUI.
Is this correct? If so, there are two possible root causes:
    1) your client machine is not in the same network as the ERP system. Could it be the case that your client machine is in a corporate network (behind a firewall) and the ERP system has been started on the internet?
    2) the ERP on HANA system did not start automatically (which is very strange as everyone is using the same appliance). It could be the case that the AWS account has limits which prevent the instances to start up - but then CAL should give you an error message and it should NOT show green traffic lights in CAL.
Can you please check if you are affected by root cause 1).
If you can rule out 1) we need to investigate why 2) is happening. Can you please ssh into the HANA instance and fetch the dev_disp file from /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS00/work.

  • Rapid Deployment Solution for SAP CRM - Landscape

    Hi
For the first time we have applied the Rapid Deployment Solution for SAP CRM ITSDO into our new DEV system.  The activation of this RDS creates 2 transports  (one WORKBENCH, one CUSTOMIZING)
I now need to apply the RDS to our QA and PRD systems - is it enough to just transport the 2 transports or do I need to do the entire activation again in both QA and PRD systems?
I would really appreciate any assistance here.
    Thanks

    Hi Leigh,
Just wondering how you got on with those transports.. Was it sufficient for you to release the Solution Builder transports to target system or did you need to carry out manual activities in the target system?
Also, What did you do with regard to activating the reporting client in the target system? did the transport take care of everyting?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Deploying / Transporting SAP HANA-ECC and BW Solution?

Is there one centralized deployment guid for SAP  HANA solutions in the SAP ECC and SAP BW environment?
Please can one of you provide some directions to a centralized guide to move / deploy SAP HANA solutions build in one system to Quality and/or production environment?

    Rama,
there's a pretty straight forward export/import functionality for moveing models from dev to qa and prod. Please see the SAP HANA Modeling Guide, chapter "Processing Information Objects".
You can also use CTS+ in conjunction with this functionality.

  • Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform?

    Hi,
Can we run Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform (not SAP HANA)?
    Reason:
Unless there is a way to publish Lumira Story via Lumira Cloud to BI LaunchPad, otherwise I am only interested in the Lumira Desktop version at the moment. As we want to continue to pursue to have one central portal for all BI contents using BI LaunchPad.
    Question:
In summary, is it possible to apply SAP Lumira Server on SAP HANA Cloud Platform?
See screenshots below for the ideal scenarios.

    Hi Ken,
    Great question.
    Yes, absolutely you can.
As an example: I work with some customers who have small Hana estates "on-premise" (say, for Fraud on Hana, or BW HANA sidecar); as such they may not have the available infrastructure to decouple a sandbox Hana to evaluate new Hana Analytics innovations (like Lumira Server)
In such situations I recommend this page http://hcp.sap.com/platform.html  to evaluate our Hana Cloud platform options.
If you scroll half-way down, you'll see a nice graphic under the heading "Choose the Service That's Best for You". (the 3 stacked pillars)
Depending on your own licensing particulars, you may already have a runtime license for Lumira Server (through your BI bundle), and you may already have HDB (database) licenses available in your enterprise, so potentially you need only the 'infrastructure service' (leftmost chart).
Then, I've seen this integrated into productive on-premise systems, typically (but optionally) via a "leased line" (between customer & provider (SAP)) , and a VPN tunnel in between to make the secure bridge.
It's a really neat way to get on the Hana journey: quick to deploy, flexible, and well priced.

  • Advantages of SSRS over SAP HANA

We are looking into options for developing reports.
The data sources are SAP HANA ad Oracle/SQL Server. The two reporting options we are looking at are SSRS and SAP HANA. I would like to know if SSRS is advantageous over SAP HANA. If yes, please specify the reasons.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
SQL Server Reporting Services provides a full range of ready-to-use tools and services to help you create, deploy, and manage reports for your organization, as well as programming features that enable you to extend and customize your reporting functionality.
One of the principal advantages of using Reporting Services is the ability to manage reports and related items such as folders, data source connections, and resources, from a central location. We can define security, set properties, and schedule operations.
We can also create shared schedules and shared data sources and make them available for general use.
For more information about SQL Server Reporting Services, please refer to the articles below:

  • Connectivity between SSRS and SAP HANA

    Hi all
We currently use SSRS as our main Reporting tool, the company is considering to implement SAP HANA, is it possible to connect SQL Server Reporting Services to SAP HAHA? And what if any are the draw backs?
    Thanks
    Ruan

    Hi ruancra,
According to your description, you want to connect SSRS to SAP HANA. Right?
In Reporting Services, it just works on helping us create, deploy, and manage reports. We can only connect to a data source to retrieve data. It is not supported connecting to another report tool. Also we are not sure if reports
created by SSRS (.rdl/.rdlc files)can be opened in SAP HANA. For more information about SAP HANA, please visit the SAP HANA official site:

    Beata

    Hi Beata,
The CRM scenario is working again. We had to re install the Connector and deploy a new proxy app.
Therefore you would need to download the code from the GitHub repository again. The changes you need to do on your side:
    1. Redeploy the new crm__public destination file - the updated destination now points to the new location of the proxy application
    2. Update the code of the registration form scripts (form.js and form.spec.xml).

  • SAP HANA : differences and costs

    Dear All,
HANA is designed to enable faster ways to process data from business applications in real time, without impacting the underlying source system. I believe HANA will bring new and interesting opportunities to SAP. Which are the most important technical differences between HANA, BWA and BOEA? Which are the cost differences?
    Regards,
    Bob

    Bob,
    Here are my thoughts:
HANA: Here's my recommendation for the best in-class next-generation BI solution. Deploy HANA as a standlone server with two logical system partitions. 1st partition for standalone HANA modeling and 2nd partition to host HANA DB for BW 7.3. This way you get to exploit HANA performance for both SAP BW system as a database and also use the HANA power for standalone non-BW (ECC and flat-file) application that need good performance.
BWA: I would not recommend a BWA solution for a new BW implementation. Given the fact that SAP has announced recently that BWA 7.3 will be the last release for BWA. However, if there is a critical BW application in production that needs better performance, then BWA will be a quick fix solution. The cost difference between an SAP HANA solution and a BWA solution is narrowing down quickly. I do not want to go into details of cost.
BOEA (aka BOE Accelerator Version): Guys, there is some confusion here. BOEA does not support BWA acceleration for non-BW data source data. Meaning that if you are using BOEA (accelerated version) - you can load non-SAP and Non-BW data but can not accelerate the data using BWA unless the data is put in an SAP BW info provider (cubes,etc..). Only BW info providers in a BOEA solution can exploit BWA acceleration. Other data (non-SAP and Non-BW ) can only exploit on indexing capability of BOE internally but not the BWA. BWA portion of BOEA is specific to BW in the backend.

  • Install of SAP HANA Studio Dev Ed v1.00.80 fails with "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine"

    Hello,
Scope: JVM error during initial install of SAP HANA Studio Developer Edition v1.00.80, Win86/32bit
Source: installation files pulled from HANA Studio tab at https://hanadeveditionsapicl.hana.ondemand.com/hanadevedition/, which is a link from the main HANA site of http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/hana.  zip folder: "sap_hana_win32_studio_rev80"
Targeted O/S: Windows 7, 32-bit, local Java is SE 7, update 67.   Java environment has been confirmed via checks provided at http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
    Actions taken:
Attempted to update the installation's eclipse.ini file by reducing the -Xmx value; see details below.
Read thru postings such as http://scn.sap.com/thread/3390626 and the threads it recommended.
Checked OSS (ie Note 1859686 - HANA Studio does not start)
    Description of installation error:
Shortly after executing "hdbinst", it fails with the error "Could not create the Java Virtual Machine".  I've verified that there is nearly 3G of memory free.  What I did notice, as shown in the attached files, is that Eclipse is part of this installation and it's pre-loaded with the "eclipse.ini".  I firmly believe the solution could be to reduce parameter "-Xmx1024m" to "-Xmx512m" but it's a catch-22 because even after updating eclipse.ini (in installation folder C:\Program Files\SAP\hdbstudio\tmp_p2director2014.08.13_13.36.44\director), the install program requires that the "hdbstudio" folder to be empty upon restarting it.
Since the installation is basically a package with a lot of .jar files, there is no eclipse.ini file available in the source install folder; otherwise, updating it there would be the easiest solution if that option were available. The file is only available in the targeted deployment folder above.
If you have encountered this same error and were able to resolve it, I would be grateful to know of your solution.  Thanks very much.
FYI: the HANA Client installed with no issues.

FYI: the images below reflect the sequence of images produced during the installation.
after clicking OK above, the screen below gets updated (see the "is not empty" msg).
Below is the eclipse.ini file located in the deployed/target folder:
Message was edited by: Jim Cleek
FYI: Using information from the SAP HANA Database - Studio Installation and Update Guide, I tried to override the installation's use of its eclipse.ini file by passing my own modified version (with "-Xmx512m") of that file that was placed in a separate folder.  The cmd used via DOS window was "hdbsetup.exe -a studio --configfile=C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\eclipse.ini" and even though it successfully launched the SAP HANA Lifecycle Management gui, it failed on the first step with the same JVM create error as above because it appears to have used its own eclipse.ini file, which has "-Xmx1024m".

Update: a message was opened with SAP but unfortunately they could not provide a resolution for this particular scenario.  They admitted that the eclipse.ini file cannot be updated since it is bundled as part of the installation package.  One point to make that I did not make before was that this was being attempted on an Oracle VirtualBox (4.3.10); the SAP HANA contact said he assumed that SAP has not tested this particular scenario, thus it could not be supported.
Resolution: the end result was to abort trying to install SAP HANA Client and Studio on the Oracle VirtualBox but to install it locally on my own desktop, which runs on Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit with 8G of memory.  The SAP HANA files below were downloaded, extracted and installed successfully in the order shown.
FYI: the Studio installation detected that a 64-bit version of Java was not installed so I installed that and then adjusted the User environmental variable JAVA_HOME to point to that new path, leaving the System variable still pointing to the pre-existing 32-bit Java path.
