  • SAP HANA Tools not installed

    Hello,
I followed all the steps and found a workaround to set the local platform.
The problem is that I was never able to install the runtime "SAP HANA Tools" from "Install New Software".
    Kind regards,
    Patrice

    Hi Patrice,
The presentation is a bit confusing for me, but if you have the yellowish icons in new server wizard (Servers View > New Server), you are fine and you can continue.
basically after setting up your development environment, you have to be able to do this: https://help.hana.ondemand.com/help/frameset.htm?7613f000711e1014839a8273b0e91070.html

  • SAP HANA studio plugin errors

    Hello,
I am facing an plugin error in my Hana studio.
In the SAP HANA DEVELOPMENT perspective under the Repository tab, I am getting an error as,
"Plug-in com.sap.ndb.studio.dwb.team.ui was unable to load class com.sap.ndb.studio.dwb.team.ui.views.RepositoryBrowserView."
Please find the attached image and please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vicky.

    Hi Bhupender,
Its working fine now. But I don't know how it happens.  I have just uninstalled Hana Studio server and client completely from my system including all the cache files.
    1. Freshly installed the client and then server.
    2. Then click Help->install new software->added the link->"https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/kepler"
    3. Installed the plugins one by one and restarted the studio, accordingly. eg. first select the package  "UI development Toolkit for HTML5" and download the plugins and restart the studio. next "SAP HANA Cloud Integration Tools", next "SAP HANA Cloud Platform Tools" and finally "SAP HANA Tools". Install "Modeling Tools for SAP BW powered by SAP HANA", if required.
Note:  install "ABAP Development Tools for SAP Netweaver" only if it is necessary. Because I faced some plugin errors in Hana studio. Do not install eclipse plugins in Hana studio unnecessarily, because some plugins are vulnerable and it makes the studio, heavy.
The above procedures are working fine for me, till now. Now my studio is healthy and working as expected, without any plugin errors.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vicky.

  • Uninstall SAP HANA server tool

    Hi Experts,
I want steps on how to uninstall SAP hana server tools.
I didn't find any way to do that so I deleted the folder but with that when I try to install server components I get error failed ,roll back.
Urgent help on how to uninstall SAP HANA server tools to unable me install new package.Linux.
    Regards
    Justice

    Hi Justice,
    Try:
    rpm -q -a | grep B1 | xargs rpm -e
    And then try reinstallation.
If it works, next time when you uninstall B1 on Linux, please use the uninstall.bin located in the installation path, typically opt/sap/SAPBusinessOne. You can find the instructions in the Administrator's Guide (HANA version), which is in the product package \Documentation\SystemSetup\ and also in the Packages.Linux folder.

  • Are SAP HANA implementations on HANA as a Database or HANA as a Modeling tool

    Hi all,
I've a general question today about the HANA as a product.
I want to know if most of the SAP HANA implementations that have been carried out in the last 3 or 4 years, were they mostly on HANA as a InMemory Database product or was it implemented as a Modelling tool. What I understand is most of the implementations on HANA have been done with HANA as a database replacing the customer's existing databases mostly Oracle or SQL Server. There are lots of case studies available on this situation. But I am not able to find any information on the clients who have chosen HANA as a Modelling tool along with HANA as a database.
In other words I am interested in knowing a rough estimate/number of customers who have implemented SAP HANA Modelling as a tool. Are there any success factors or case studies available giving facts and figures as to how customers have benefited by modelling on HANA. Assuming that the customer/s who have implemented HANA Modelling were on SAP BW 7.0 earlier I want to know how did they benefit by going for HANA Modelling using HANA Studio and why did they move from BW Modelling to HANA Modelling and what were the benefits they have reaped in.
How is it different from modelling data in BW DSOs and Cubes and MultiProviders, and modelling the same in Attribute Views, Analytic Views, Calculation views and native HANA SQL.
    Please explain.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Pavan.

    A) hana is a database, which combines memory and technology.
A common hana server has at leaste 128gb ram. why? because the tables (or columns of that tables) are loaded in memory and are consumed from there. Hana uses compresion (1:11 ratio) and use columnar tables, because it speeds up the data reading from the database.
Hana have 3 parts of storage:
    1) memory (explained above)
    2) data: the disk where data is recorded
    3) log: the disk where the last transactions are logged and it provides with recovery fails
    B) you can have diferents scenearios (I will explain some of them):
BW on hana: it speeds up the data access due to hana technology
suite on hana: ERP and BW on hana
Hana has your DW database: you can use hana like a common database and benefits your organization with the speed of hana.
    hope it helps.
this image can show you the diferents scenarios

  • SAP HANA XS Administration Tool Missing

The SAP HANA XS Administration Tool seems to be missing from our HANA AWS instance. The various roles associated with XS Administration are also missing.
The best theory I can come up with is that it has something to do with our upgrade path. Version 52 was originally installed in August.  We upgraded to Version 69 in February.
I've scanned the release notes and it looks like the tool may have been introduced in SPS06.
Did we miss something during the Version 69 upgrade?  If so, does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hi Michael,
Maybe you can try to import the DU manually. Open your SAP HANA Studio, File -> Import -> SAP HANA Content -> Delivery Unit -> Choose your SAP HANA system, then select the file like the following. Hope it will help.

  • Issue with SQL converter: Query Migration Tool for Microsoft SQL Server to SAP HANA

    Hello,
    I found the following blog : http://scn.sap.com/community/business-one/blog/2013/04/10/how-to-convert-sql-from-ms-sql-server-to-sap-hana
I am trying out this migration tool for converting my MS SQL queries to HANA.
I am running into issue while converting certain queries.
The issue is specific to "set" commands which set local variables inside "create procedure" commands.
    e.g.
    a standalone set command:
SET @var = (SELECT TOP 1 name FROM mytable ORDER BY name)
    is converted well:
    SELECT (SELECT TOP 1 "name" FROM "mytable" ORDER BY "name") INTO var FROM DUMMY;
But when the same is part of create procedure:
    CREATE PROCEDURE [dbx].[XXXXX_YYYY_ZZZZ]
    AS
SET @var = (SELECT TOP 1 name FROM mytable ORDER BY name)
it fails in converting the same:
--Statements in the input file contain errors; conversion was canceled
I would like to understand who can help me here.
    Thanks...

    Hi Mayur,
that tool cannot convert stored procedures. it is still being developed. For these you have to do it manually.

  • SAP HANA modelling Standalone

    Hello Experts,
We are in the process of HANA Standalone implementation and design studio as reporting tool. When I am modeling, I did not figure out answers to some of the below questions .Below are the questions. Experts, please help.
Best way of modeling: The SAP HANA LIVE is completely built on calculation view; there are no Attribute and Analytical views. I have got different answer why there is only Calculation view and there are no Alaytic view and Attribute views. We are in SP7 latest version. This is a brand new HANA in top of non-SAP (DB2 source).  What is the best way to model this scenario, meaning, can we model everything in the Calculation view’s like SAP HANA live or do you suggest using the standard attribute, analytical and calculation views to do the data model. Is SAP moving away from AV & AT to only calculation Views to simply the modeling approach?
Reporting: We are using the design studio as front end tool. Just for example, if we assume that we are
Using the BW, we bring all the data in to BW from different sources, build the cubes and use the bex query. Here in bex query we will be using the restricted key figures, calculated key figures calculations etc. From the reporting wise, we have the same requirements, calculations, RKF, CKF,Sum, Avg etc. if we are Using the design studio on top of standalone HANA, where do I need to implement all these calculations? Is it in different views?  (From reporting perspective, if it’s BW system, I would have done all the calculations in BEx.)
Universe: If we are doing all the calculations in SAP HANA like RKF. CKF and other calculations , what is the point in having additional layer of universe , because the reporting compnets cam access the queries directly on views .In one of our POC , we found that the using universe affect performance.
Real time reporting: Our overall objective is to give a real time or close to real time reporting requirements, how data services can help, meaning I can schedule the data loads every 3 or 5 min to pull the data from source. If I am using the Data services, how soon I can get the data in HANA, I know it depends on the no of records and the transformations in between the systems & network speed. Assuming that I will schele the job every 2 min and it will take another 5 min to process the Data services job , is it fair to say the my information will be available on the BOBJ tools with in 10 min from the creation of the records.
Are there any new ETL capabilities included in SP7, I see some additional features included in SP7. Is some of the concepts discussed are still valid, because in SP7 we have star join concept.
    Thanks

    >> I haven't read any "official" guidance to move away from typical modeling approach, so I'd say stick with the usual approach- AT, then AV, then CA views. I was told that the reason for different approach with HANA Live was to simplify development for mass production of solutions.
Reporting: We are using the design studio as front end tool. Just for example, if we assume that we are

    >> I'm not a BW guy, but from a HANA perspective - implement them where they make the most sense. In some cases, this is obvious - restricted columns are only available in Analytic Views. Hard to provide more complex advice here - it depends on your scenario(s). Review your training materials, review SCN posts and you should start to develop a better idea of where to model particular requirements. (Most of the time in typical BI scenarios, requirements map nicely to straightforward modeling approaches such as Attribute/Analytic/Calculations Views. However, some situations such as slowly-changing dimensions, certain kinds of calculations (i.e. calc before aggregation with BODS as source - where calculation should be done in ETL logic) etc can be more complex. If you have specific scenarios that you're unsure about, post them here on SCN.
Universe: If we are doing all the calculations in SAP HANA like RKF. CKF and other calculations , what is the point in having additional layer of universe , because the reporting compnets cam access the queries directly on views .In one of our POC , we found that the using universe affect performance.
    >>> Depends on what you're doing. Universe generates SQL just like front-end tools, so bad performance implies bad modeling. Generally speaking - universes *can* create more autonomous reporting architecture. But if your scenario doesn't require it - then by all means, avoid the additional layer if there's no added value.
Real time reporting: Our overall objective is to give a real time or close to real time reporting requirements, how data services can help, meaning I can schedule the data loads every 3 or 5 min to pull the data from source. >>> Not exactly sure what your question here is. Your limits on BODS are the same as with any other target system - doesn't depend on HANA. The second the record(s) are committed to HANA, they are available. They may be in delta storage, but they're available. You just need to work out how often to schedule BODS - and if your jobs are taking 5 minutes to run, but you're scheduling executions every 2 minutes, you're going to run into problems...

  • Universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection

Can I create universe based on SAP HANA OLAP connection ?
How can i access SAP HANA view which was created using OLAP connection in WEBI and Dashboard? It does not allow creating Universe on top of SAP HANA OLAP connection and give an error.
SAP BusinessObjects query and reporting applications can directly connect to OLAP SAP HANA connections. No universe is required, only a published OLAP SAP HANA connection.
    Thanks

OLAP connection are only meant for tools that make use of OLAP connectivity only like BEx ..and HANA analytic views and calculated views are also treated as OLAP cubes for them..
So these connection is only available with analysis product like Analysis Office (which is meant to be used with Bex or OLAP cubes ) and Design studio which is again mainly built around OLAP paradigm..
You can not create a universe or Webi on Olap connection on HANA as of now.. However it could be like exposed in a future release of BO which is not public yet...

  • What are the different types of analytic techniques possible in SAP HANA with the examples?

    Hello Gurus,
Please provide the information on what are the different types of Analytic techniques possible in SAP HANA with examples.
I would want to know in category of Predictive analysis ,Advance statistical analysis ,segmentation analysis ,data reduction techniques and forecast techniques
Which Analytic techniques are possible in SAP HANA?

    Hi Sushma,
You can download the user guide here:
    http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CFcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp.sap.com%2Fbusinessobject%2Fproduct_guides%2FSBOpa10%2Fen%2Fpa_user_en.pdf&ei=NMgHUOOtIcSziQfqupyeBA&usg=AFQjCNG10eovyZvNOJneT-l6J7fk0KMQ1Q&sig2=l56CSxtyr_heE1WlhfTdZQ
It has a list of the algorithms, which are pretty disappointing, I must say. No Random Forests? No ensembling methods? Given that it's using R algorithms, I must say this is a missed opportunity to beat products like SPSS and SAS at their own game. If SAP were to include this functionality, they would be the only BI vendor capable of having a serious predictive tool integrated with the rest of the platform.... but this looks pretty weak.
I can only hope a later release will remedy this - or maybe the SDK will allow me to create what I need.
As things stand, I could built a random forest using this tool, but I would have to use a lot of hardcoded SQL to make it happen. And if I wanted to go down that road, I could use the algorithms that come with the Microsoft/Oracle software.
    Please let me be wrong........

  • SAP Hana implementation project - beginning tasks

    Hello,
We want to implement a new SAP landscape running with SAP Hana database. As I understand, the SAP Hana database is a database that runs on a specific server appliance, am I right?
For we can know which SAP Hana server appliance to buy we need first to estimate the sizing about it! We want to implement SAP ERP product (EHP6 or 7) on Hana DB, but we don´t know how to start... this is, we don´t know how to measure this, in order to buy the best solution (server appliance) for our own scenario!
I checked some information in the following areas:
    service.sap.com/sizing
and also the Quick Sizer tool (service.sap.com/quicksizer) but this is so much confused tool... I don´t understand it at all.
Can you help me with your experience which SAP Hana server appliance we need to buy for this kind of project?!
    Thank you,

    Hi Dario,
Does the calculation view work without xsodata service? From the URL, your XS project name should be Project_DM, but from the xsodata source, the project name is EricssonItalgas. I'm confused with this. Did you use rewrite_rules or?

  • Advantages of SSRS over SAP HANA

We are looking into options for developing reports.
The data sources are SAP HANA ad Oracle/SQL Server. The two reporting options we are looking at are SSRS and SAP HANA. I would like to know if SSRS is advantageous over SAP HANA. If yes, please specify the reasons.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
SQL Server Reporting Services provides a full range of ready-to-use tools and services to help you create, deploy, and manage reports for your organization, as well as programming features that enable you to extend and customize your reporting functionality.
One of the principal advantages of using Reporting Services is the ability to manage reports and related items such as folders, data source connections, and resources, from a central location. We can define security, set properties, and schedule operations.
We can also create shared schedules and shared data sources and make them available for general use.
For more information about SQL Server Reporting Services, please refer to the articles below:

  • Connectivity between SSRS and SAP HANA

    Hi all
We currently use SSRS as our main Reporting tool, the company is considering to implement SAP HANA, is it possible to connect SQL Server Reporting Services to SAP HAHA? And what if any are the draw backs?
    Thanks
    Ruan

    Hi ruancra,
According to your description, you want to connect SSRS to SAP HANA. Right?
In Reporting Services, it just works on helping us create, deploy, and manage reports. We can only connect to a data source to retrieve data. It is not supported connecting to another report tool. Also we are not sure if reports
created by SSRS (.rdl/.rdlc files)can be opened in SAP HANA. For more information about SAP HANA, please visit the SAP HANA official site:
