  • SAP HCM BI Report Help

    Experts,
I am new to bi time management reporting. I am looking for some help with datasource , dso , infocubes and infoobjects for the same.
i have gone through help.com and checked the available standard business content, its very limited. My confusion is to whether use the existing business content or go for custom objects. I have seen often in HR time projects, client go for custom objects.
If Anyone who have some experience working in bi time projects can help me with this.
My requirement is to report on leave of absence information, information related to holiday accurals and observances , time related information related to work schedule and other related absence and attendance information. The actual requirement is to bring everything together in one report but i can think of splitting it into different reports.
Also, i am looking for some standard dso for time quota if avialable.
I was doing some analysis in PA2001 table for absence type and no of absence days.Do we have any standard infoobject for absence type/attendance type in sap bi??
    Thanks

U should use 0HR_PT_2 for absences and 0HR_PT_3 for quotas. Both supports delta.
U should use 0REPTT object to capture absence types. And 0QUOTA for quota types.
No need to split into different reports. The configuration in R/3 should take care of requirement in a single report.
No standard DSO is available either for Absences or Quotas.

  • Standard BW reports for SAP HCM Performance Management

    Hi all,
I'm preparing a blueprint workshop for SAP HCM Performance Management and the customer wants to see the reporting in BW. Does anyone have experience with standard BW reports for this HCM solution and could someone please provide me with screenshots of these reports?

  • Reporting Location in SAP HCM

    Hi SAP Experts,
We have a requirement to track Reporting location of an employee in Org Management. Kindly advice if there is an option to extract Reporting location for an employee. Does SAP has such field?. What could be the reason for not having Reporting Location in SAP?
    Your response is highly appreciable.
    Regards,
    Phani Prakash
    SAP HCM Business Analyst.

This question should be answered by the customer in your project. You cannot expect people on this forum to guess your customers requirements.
People have given some hints based on their best estimates of what a Reporting Location could be.
I would recommend, asking a precise definition of the requirement from your client, and then identifying the relevant SAP fields that holds that information, and going from there.

  • Reporting in SAP HCM using Crystal Reports

We have decided to use Crystal Reports for SAP HCM Objective Settings and Appraisal component.
What will be the best option to access SAP HCM Tables using Crystal Reports?
    Regards
    Faisal

    Hi,
I have to assume that you've followed the Admin guide and given sufficient Authorizations (as per the detailed list)
Actually, there are quite a few related notes about this, if you search in SDN or via SMP: www.service.sap.com/notes or /x-search . for example:
1334461 - After upgrading SAP R/3 ECC5 to version ECC6, the Integration Kit transport package /Crystal/BC was found in DELETED OBJECTS and Crystal ODBC connection cannot view or browse any tables
1374874 - Cannot see the SAP tables, clusters or functions in Crystal Reports
    here's a suggestion:
    using the Database Options:
When creating a new report, in the Database Expert window, click on SAP Table, Cluster, or Function
Log on to an SAP system
Once connected, right click on the connection created and select Options
In the Options window, in the Data Explorer area, use the Table name LIKE field to select only a subset of data.
Type the full or partial name of the tables you are looking for
Use the percentage sign (%) to denote any number of characters
Use the underscore (_) to denote one characters
Once done, click OK to accept the change.
Back to the Database Expert window, right click on the connection and select Refresh

  • BW implementation for SAP HCM.

    Dear Experts
I am on a new project where they need to do HR Data Migration from PeopleSoft (Legacy System) into SAP ECC. The Client wants me to implement SAP BW (New Implementation) doing the following Functional Areas for SAP HCM:
    1. Personnel Administration
    2. Learning Solution Online
    3. Occupational Health & Safety
    4. Leave
    5. Time
    6. Allowances
    7. Position Management
    8. Organizational Structures
    9. Delegations
    10. Competencies
    11. Payroll
    12. CATS
    13. Business Intelligence
This is the scope of the project.
They were using just over 600 reports from the Legacy System.
Please let me know how long does it take developing an average of 25 Reports in each of the above mentioned areas (Area-wise) including ETL (Backend) Design in SAP BW? We are also looking at using Business Object Reporting Tools moving forwards.
What is the best order of implementation of above Functional Areas?
I am to start off with a SAP BW Solution Blueprint with As-Is, To-Be (Solution and Approach). Please let me know if there are better ideas.
Your time in very much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Chandu

    Hi chandra,
You first need to understand the requirement of the business first because if there are 600 reports in legacy system you no need to presume that you need to develop 600 coz of the multidimensional report of BI you can club so many requirements in to one report. And you have to decide, up to what extent the Business content reports would be helpful. If the BC report meets the requirement it is as simple as that to activate and use it. But if the BC report wont meet the business requirement then you need to estimate the efforts to develop. Here you need to keep in mind that the standard extractors would be fine or need to enhance or need to go for Generic extraction. And also the HCM reports are big tricky and lot of data issues would rise. By considering all this you need to plan the days of work to complete all the reports.
I hope you understood what i am trying to explain.
    Thanks,

  • SAP HR Headcount Reporting

    Hi Experts,
We are consolidating our system and looking for optimal ways to identify the correct headcounts.
SAP provides standard reports S_PH9_46000219 for headcount. Can someone help me in identifying what is considered as a headcount from SAP standard point of view. I know different organizations may have different criteria for calculating headcount but I'm primarily interested in standard behavior. Accordingly we will decide if we can make use of this standard report.
    Thanks & Regard,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I found an interesting read on this report. Sharing link with you. Hope this will help!!!

  • First Step Towards an entry in SAP HCM

    Hi Experts
Some days back, I wrote a query about doing a certification in SAP HCM on this platform to which quite supportive people replied. As and when I decided to go for the certification and gathered some info, some experienced people cautioned me about doing it as they said that SAP HCM would soon be offset by SucessFactors. Hence there is no point investing your time and effort in the certification...Also I came to know that there is no certification or training provided in SuccessFactors...
Now my point is that how as a Fresher should I take a first step to enter in the industry as all these things are quite mingled with each other?
    Welcome your suggestions!
    Rregards
    Kanupriya

    Hi Kanupriya,
I don't think that Success Factors will make SAP HCM redundant in the near future. Both will co-exist in the near term for sure and some customers will go for hybrid option of having both Success Factors and SAP HCM.
I have also replied to you in gmail regarding your earlier query.
For Success Factors training and certification, please refer the below blog from Luke.

    I hope this helps.

  • Using SAP BW on top of more than one SAP HCM instance

    Hi!
I am an SAP HCM consultant and got the following questions from one of my customers.
The customer has two standalone SAP HCM instances in different countries. In the future they might decide to migrate these instances to one single client, but their first priority is implementing a SAP BW that can be used to report over the two countries, i.e. it should be populated with data from the 2 different SAP HCM instances.
What is a a good approach?
Do you know of other customers having done this?
Should the systems later be migrated to one single client, would this mean a lot of rework (provided the same configuration/infotypes will be used in the new client)?
    Any input is highly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Marijn van Amelsfort
    SAP the Netherlands

Many clients face this situation. You can always load data from same area in BW from two different source systems.
Biggest issue which I faced in this kind of situation was records with same identity in diff systems. Ex: empolyee # 1011 might correspond to different employees in 2 diff country. You can avoid this kind of situation by compunding with source system characterisitic.
Other then that depending in your requirement you may consolidate enterprise wide data in BW.

  • SAP HCM Versus Oracle HR

    Hi SAP Gurus,
Please tell me which is the best "SAP HCM or Oracle HR" and Why?
Points will be rewarded for the answers.
    Regrads
    Sairam Maharaj S

Although the opinion is very subjective, I wld say SAPs HR solution is better than Oracle. My opinion is based on several things, i am not just judging the product superiority but things that affect in a larger picture
1)size,industry,Geography of the business in question is something to consider while deciding an ERP. because issues like scalability,Integration and most importantly Localisation are of major significance.
different legislation governs employment in different countries and as far as i know SAP does a great job in localization..and their efforts continue still with growing UNICODE significance. its is also strong in localising  a major HR process i.e PAYROLL. Also its intergration with number of industries supported too is extensive compared to Oracle.
2)with introduction of Netweaver SAPs proved to be a Agressive competitor in terms of provising great user experience with simple and effective user interface.
which is of greater significance in todays world of superior UI design.
3)SAP HR has evolved with SOA,its ESS and MSS functionalities are not limited to typical HR operations but efforts are on way to extending them to accomodate Composite Application Framework and Colloboration Tools. so for any product company Investment in research/ future technologies and functionalities shows its longevity in competitive market.
4)SAP was essentially a leader in European Market whereas Oracle has strength in US market..but the coporate Marriage of SAP with Microsoft in the form of Duet only shows the tip of an iceberg as to what plans SAP has to extend its market share. Most companies adore the simple and straightforward usage of MS Outlook...now for end users performing SAP functions thru the same interface is a dream come true. SAP HR features are significant in DUET.
    5) Not sure where i read but i believe SAP HR implimentation has become very affordable even to small busineses. The time frame for entire end-to-end impliemntation user training etc everything is significantly faster and cheaper.
(Lots of us Hr consultants do a  great job with less pay
so if i keep myself in a businessmans Shoe analysing which ERP gives me ROI and Superior functionality within my budget..and is scalable etc
or as a end user who doesnt find using SAP interface too complex
or as a SAP HR Consultant...whose jobs is secure for years to come
    I wld Vote for SAP
P.s opinion shared is entirely personal based on my knowledge and experience any discripancies otherwise can be pointed i wld correct myself.

  • SAP HCM TRAINING

I have been a SAP HCM Payroll administrator for the past 6 years.  I would love to get some SAP HCM configuration/technical training.  Therefore I am thinking of doing the THR1e.  However due to the recent changes i.e Success Factors, Cloud computing etc etc I am not sure what training course I should be doing which will be valuable in the future?  Also if I choose the wrong course I will be wasting my time & money.
Your valuable advise is much appreciated as I must choose the right training course/s?  would you please let me know what courses/training are relevant & valuable for future in the SAP HCM world?

    Hi
You need to extact attendance list first and then compare attendee list and the differenct will be absence.
for attendee list and for attendance there are standard reports available
NO adhoc query has not got this option.

  • Benefits of SAP Business Warehouse Reporting compared with the Query-tools?

    Hello experts,
I've been creating reports with SAP Query tools, but been faced with few problems. First of all, there are restricted possibilities in terms of joining tables, and thus I cannot include all the data required for the report.
One solution for this would have been to create separate queries and join the data together in Excel. The problem with this is that there exists no common field that would make sense as for a selection criterion. If the selection criterion is different in different queries, there is the danger of combining false data together, which would eventually result with distorted data.
So I was wondering, could anyone briefly tell me if SAP Business Warehouse reporting would solve these problems? And what other benefits would it provide compared with the SAP Query? I'd urgently need to know if it would be a beneficial investment for the company, since I haven't found solutions for the problems occurred in the creation of reports.
Thank you in advance for you help!
    Maria

The answers are yes - and thousands of companies have gone down this route
Puttingin BW is a strategic aim of the comapny and not to be thought about and discussed in a BI forum such as this
The costs of implementation and hardware will no doubt make your eyes water.
To be quite honest SAP BI is a "no brainer" as most of the new e-SOA and new R3 modules reply on BW for their reporting needs

  • Obtaining the list of data interfaced out of SAP HCM

    Hello,
we got a good challenge from our partners in the business organization that we support. The Data Privacy officer on the business partner side would like to know:
    - what other systems are "takers" of the data from our SAP HCM instance
    - what data pieces (what tables, fields...) are being interfaced out
    - what is the frequency of that
We are trying to maintain the document whenever a new interface is being built but in practice you know how it looks like.In order to have 100% confidence in the anwser I would want to pull such list from the system. Is there a way to do that? What would you suggest?
    Regards,
    Pawel

Try the function below, pass the item name and get the Data provider for that particular item, you will have to do this for all the items in the template.
    function getDPName(item){
         prop = SAPBWGetItemProp(item);
         var tableHidden=true;
         if (prop != null){
           for(i=1;i<prop.length;i++){
             if (prop<i>[0] == "DATA_PROVIDER")
                   return prop<i>[1]
           }//end for
         }//end if
    }//end function
    Thanks.
