SAP HCM Life Cycle

Hi Expert,
Can anyone help me with the life cycle stages of SAP HCM.
I have a student who asked me what is the concept of SAP HCM, I explained about where was it started, what is the architecture, why is SAP preferred against other applications, modules covered, logic of integration... I would like to know if I am missing on anything as far as Concept is concerned.
Thank you in Advance.
Sejal

Hi,
There is nothing as such called lifecycle of SAP HCM.
It is similar to an ERP application, and basically your organization first decides which of the ERP module they are going to implement, once they have decided to go for HCM, they wil opt for it.
Again in HCM it depens on customer which module he is going to implement and HCM is vast it inlcudes PA, OM, TIME, PAYROLL, BENFITS, TRAVEL MANAGEMENT, LSO, Performance management, HR Forms and Processes etc.
This implmentation has a life cycle - like
Requirement gathering, Blue printing, Realization, implementatin (Configuration and coding), Custom implemenation, Integration if required, Testing (includes, UT, SIT and User acceptance testing), Documentation and hence Go Live.
This is a huge process and requires domain / business / technical/ functional / Quality / Knowledge experts.
Hope it helps you.
Thanks & Regards, Swapnil Mishra

    Hallo,
is it possible to edit the page offset in x-direction? Where? My problem is that any printer models has different page offset settings. For this reason I am searching for a possibility to edit the page offset for each printer model.
I found some informations about that. But I don´t know where I can adjust it.

  • What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD?

What is the average duration of 1 full SAP life cycle or 1 end-to-end implementation. How long does it take to prepare DEV, QAS and PRD in any company?

    Anand,
let me start with saying that the question you ask may not help you to determine the duration of your project. As Ryan and others stated the duration of the project is highly dependent on the scope of the solution you are implementing, geographical scope, amount of modifications/enhancements, number of languages, number of users that need to be trained, amount of standard processes customer is able to re-use in the implementation and many other factors (like quality of implementation contractor you will chose and availability of customer and implementors resources). I can probably go on for another couple lines, but I guess you get the idea.
With that out of the way let's talk about some example implementations that will give you an idea - Ryan did great job outlining what I would call traditional approach above. I have couple examples where customers leveraged innovative deployment strategies that are available today. In particular the project teams leveraged pre-packaged services like RDS, World Template or Best Practices as their baseline solution and they built from there. Second acceleration technique customers now leverage is the deployment in the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to accelerate the time to initial setup of the system and thus move from traditional blueprinting to scope validation exercise that further shortens the time. There are other acceleration techniques we see applied in some cases like use of iterative implementation of the delta requirements on top of the baseline solution.
Let me offer few examples to illustrate what I explained above:
ERP implementation at Schaidt Innovations with 3 months long deployment of ERP solution using ERP RDS as a baseline (you can view their testimonial here - Schaidt Innovations: SAP ERP on HANA in the cloud - YouTube)
Customer in Asia with global template deployment that leveraged SAP ERP for Manufacturing with deployment to cloud and 9 countries rollout (Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, UK, Germany and US). The initial deployment took 4 months for first country and 2 months for rollout into the additional 8 countries - so total of 6 months. The original plan using traditional approach with full blueprint and heavy configuration was estimated to be more than double of the actual deployment time.
There are many other examples where customers follow the assemble-to-order delivery model for their project and gain significant benefits doing so. I suggest you to review some of the recordings we did in 2013 about this approach and if you are member of ASUG review the Agile ASAP sessions we did for ASUG PM SIG.

  • Re: Life cycle in SAP BW

    Hi gurus,
I am actually a newbie in looking for a job in SAP BW. Am more bent to put a 2-21/2 yrs experience since there's not place for freshers in UK industry, but most of the offers come saying either i should have a experience in full life cycle..could somebody explain how i could come over it
    Regards
    Sri

    Hi ,
When they refer to the full life cycle its the ASAP methodology which SAP recommends to follow for all its projects.
    1.Project peparation.
    2.Business Blueprint.
    3.Realization.
    4.Fit-Gap Analysis
    5.Go-Live Phase.
Normally in the first phase all the management guys will sit with in a discussion .
In the second phase u will get a functional spec  n basing on that u will have a technical spec.
In the third phase u will actually inplement the project and finally u after testing u will deploy it for production i.e. Go-live .
U might fall under and get involved in the realization phase .
If its a supporting project u will come into picture only after successful deployment.
let us know if any queries .......

  • ActiveDirectory - SAP IDM integration in Identity Life cycle Management

    Hi Experts
In our landscape SAP HCM is supposed to be  the  leading data source and SAP IDM takes identity information from SAP HCM.  From SAP IDM it will provision into Active directory and other third party systems, Sap systems.
    Here are the questions
    1) How  can we leverage on the investment on Active directory after  SAP IDM -Active directory investment ?  I mean after SAP IDM comes to a landscape,  Active directory will only be used to login to domain and for authentication if for java system Active directory have been set as user data source.  What are the other advantages of Active directory- SAP IDM integration as Active directory will not be leading data source and identity information will be in identity store.?
    2) After the user details are taken from SAP HCM system, will  the user record will be created in SAP IDM on Identity store ?  Is it where we actually assign the SAP IDM business role and the related technical role  to the  user?
    3) Suppose if we assign a business role " employee " , will IDM actually create user id in all target system and assign all the technical roles? . Or we have to manually select each repository for target system in Identity center and  select the privileges and provision it ?  Will there be any automated feature that after assigning the business role to identity in identity store users and roles get automatically provisioned on all the target systems?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi Matt,
    Thank you very much.
Only change we have is before approval it should go to GRC AC check all the compliance   and only after that it is approved and it should come back to SAP IDM  .
I am actually looking for a tutorial which actually shows how you assign a business role and the whole procedure of SAP IDM automatically provisioning to target systems which you have just explained.  I suppose there is no such exact tutorial and I want to know how we can configure this on SAP IDM . Any  specific clues?
Also  I am describing the exact steps that will follow . Correct me if I am wrong.
    1) User id will be created on AD with same user name and password as it is in Identity store. Will be assigned AD groups
    2) Create same user in Portal and make the user data source as AD and will assign the technical role portal as per the business role definition
    3) create same user in all abap systems and set abap database as user data source and assign the technical role needed as per the business role definition
    4) Create same user in third party systems  and with the privileges on their target systems as per the business role definition.
With this provisioning stops. I suppose all the above steps will be automatically done by SAP IDM with no manual interaction required after final approval. Correct me if I am wrong.
So some other information i wanted is
    1) When you assign business role at work flow,  how exactly SAP IDM  know about the target systems that user should be created and  assigned roles and made their authentication source.
for eg:- for  a  business role "employee"  should get  access to ERP with role X,  AD with group Y, Portal with role Z.  So in work flow when business role employee is assigned  how SAP IDM will know that user should be created on to ERP with role X,  AD with group Y, Portal with role Z. Can you explain technically along with  detail steps? Or how exactly we configure a business role which knows the target systems and their techical roles.
Thank you once again for the fabulous help . You/Matthew is a tremendous  help in understanding SAP IDM better.

  • Creation of BP through Web UI.with Life cycle stage concept.

    Hi,
I am working on Life cycle stage.
I have added the field " Life cycle stage" field in the Web UI.
But now when i go to create a BP with a life cycle stage XXX, it throws a error saying "BP category 1 does not fit the data in category 2" and "Data contains errors and cannot be saved"
Please help me in saving the BP thr web UI.
    Regards,
    Vinay

    Hi Tariq,
I'm not sure if you have the latest SP - recently, a new BADI - BUPA_SET_DEFAULT was released which allowed defaulting of fields in the BAPI and Web UI scenarios. You can use that BADI to default the fields for country, name, and even other address fields on the Web UI.
If you don't have this BADI in your system, do search for SAP notes, which will also have the documentation about this.
    Hope this helps you.

    Rishu.

    Hi All,.
I am new to ADOBE forms, Please let me know how to install ADOBE life cycle designer step by step.
    Thanks&REgards,

Download the installer from Service Marketplace (http://service.sap/com/swdc). Use the search screen to search for Adobe LifeCycle Designer. You will get a compressed file with a .zip extension. Unzip that into a folder and you will find a exe called SapAldSetup.exe Double click it and the rest is cake walk.

  • Integrating SuccessFactors PMS solution With SAP HCM without saving any employee master data in SF

    Hi Friends,
We’re implementing SuccessFactors’s Performance Management Solution only at one of the client location in Saudi Arabia and trying to integrate with the On-Premise SAP HCM and Push the employee data to SF.
However, due to security concerns customer doesn’t want to store any data on SucessFactors cloud solution to run the PMS cycle.
During the purchase of license for SuccessFactors SAP has demonstrated client that, in SF a unique Id will be created for each employee, which will not be the actual UserID(PERNR)from SAP, and with this unique ID actual employee data will be tagged/linked  in SF which will fetch the data from SAP On-Premise system to run  the PMS cycle.  Once the user logins in SF, based on the unique ID data will fetch from SAP On-Premise system to SF on a real time basis and when the user logged out from the SF system, data should be cleared/deleted and nothing will be saved or stored in SF with respect to employee Master Data.
I understand SAP has provided the standard add-on for the Employee Data Scenario between SuccessFactors and SAP HCM, which could have been leveraged here for integration using PI, however with the above limitation this solution is absolutely out of scope.
Please advice, is there any solution where with PI if we can achieve the above requirement of client.

  • Business Partner Roles and Account Life Cycle management in IC

    Hi all,
We have IC agents creating prospects but also back office people (i.e. sales staff) creating prospects. Back office staff uses account life cycle management to identify the prospect role. However, I noticed that the business partner role (prospect in this case) is not visible within the IC - during account creation - because the role is used within the account life cycle role exclusion group.
I can always enhance the IC component to remove the filter on the BP Role. but question I have is why does SAP IC remove the roles from the role drop down list in the IC account creation screen and how did other people get around this?
    Thanks,
    John

I am also looking for an answer on this. How did other people who work on Interaction Center get around this? How do you create accounts when IC removes the BP roles mentioned in the Exclusion group config in SPRO ?

Now i am getting some doubts like what sdlc and design patterns are used to SAP BI/BW
Please could you suggest , whether we are have to use in BI/BW
    thanks

    Hi Babu,
SAP BI/BW project also has got the standard project life cycle steps. Whenever you are working on a SAP BI/BW implementation project it starts from
    Requirement Gathering -
    > Blueprinting -
    > High level and detailed design -
    > Implementation -
    > Unit Testing -
    > Integration Testing -
    > Go live.
