SAP History

Hi everybody,
I am learning XI but i am really interested how SAP developed overtime. Are there any documents in which I can read about the past products and their properties.
Ex:
R/1 : How does it started, what did it do, how it was developed, new features etc.
R/2 : "
R/3 : "
SAP BASIS 4.6D : "
SAP Web AS 6.10 : "
SAP Web AS 6.20 : "
SAP Web AS 6.40 : "
SAP Netweaver 4.0
XI 2.0 : "
XI 3.0 : "
And of course the other application that I scipped.

This site has a nice succinct history:

History of SAP R/3
The first version of SAPu2019s flagship enterprise software was a financial Accounting system named R/1. (The u201CRu201D was for u201CReal-time data processingu201D). The pronunciation is often mistakenly referred to as u201Csapu201D, as in tree sap. The correct naming is the individual letters S-A-P. This was replaced by R/2 at the end of the 1970s. SAP R/2 was a mainframe based business application software suite that was very successful in the 1980s and early 1990s. It was particularly popular with large multinational European companies who required soft-real-time business applications, with multi-currency and multi-language capabilities built in. With the advent of distributed client-server computing SAP AG brought out a client-server version of the software called SAP R/3 that was manageable on multiple platforms and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows or UNIX since 1999, which opened up SAP to a whole new customer base. SAP R/3 was officially launched on 6 July 1992. SAP came to dominate the large business applications market over the next 10 years.

  • Drill down SAP history table on Linux

You may have noticed (or not noticed) that on some fields in SAP there is a History table that appears once you start entering (typing) information into the field.
The History table is a field box that appears underneath a field when you start entering information. An example of one of the fields is the Fund field.
This History table contains the last entries entered (by typing) into the field. Users have discovered that it allows a quick reference to regularly entered information.
This we i m observing on windows platform , but when i am using SAP on Linux fedora
    same history table not creating.
Please help us to maintain history table in SAP on Linux fedora core 3 platform

    Hi Vijay,
I assume you are talking about the history table for SAP GUI? If this is correct, please move your post to a forum like e.g. "ABAP Development".  This here is dedicated to KMC in the SAP Enterprise Portal.

  • Unble to clear sap transaction history dropdown

I am wondering how to clear the dropdown that contains transaction history in SAPGUI.
Here is what I have tried so far:
I have renamed the SAP History.mdb.  This clears the "field" history, but not the transaction dropdown history.
In the toolbar:  Customize Local Layout" button / dropdown -> Options -> Local Data tab -> Clear History button.  Again, this clears the "field" data, but not the transaction dropdown history
Deleting the files in the SAPGUI\SAP_CACHE folder.  This had no effect (as far as I could tell)
I have looked in the HKCU\software\SAP\...\...\ section of the registry and didn't see anything that struck me as relevant; nor have I found a note that specifically deals with how the transaction dropdown in SAPGUI is populated, where it is stored, or how to clear it.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated,
    Thanks in advance,
    Jeff Henke

    Hi Jeff,
the registry is the right place to look at:
    HKCU\Software\SAP\SAPGUI Front\SAP Frontend Server\Code
here you find Code0...Code14 with the TCode

  • Implement History, Back & Forward in custom code

    Hi All
We have our custom developed Header Code, where we have controling Personalize, Logout, Favorite & Top level navigation code.
I want to implement the SAP oup of box history, Back Forward functionality in custom developed code.
Please help me how to implement SAP History, Back , Forward Functionality in our custom developed code.
    Thanks.
    Helpful answers must be rewared.

The only way it wouldn't be available is if moving forward opens a new browser window. Look in the bottom right corner of the browser and see if you see a small number inside a box. That would indicate if you have more than one browser window open.
If not, then it may be necessary for you to try to troubleshoot the phone. First step is to power the phone off/on. If that doesn't help, then the next step is a reset, which is done by holding the home and power button together until you see the Apple logo and then releasing, ignoring the slide to power off screen. If that doesn't help, a restore is next, first from a back up and if no change then as a new phone. However, I don't expect you are going to have to go that far.

  • History logging with Citrix access

    Hello Everyone!
I'm accessing SAP via Citrix plug-in, the problem is, when I login to SAP with citrix, the system does not remember the history of previous logging.
For example, for every logging session I have to enable quick cut & paste, also when I press space bar, system does not show previously entered values.
I have checked IE browser settings on history deletion but it is not enabled to delete history on exit.
I further checked the SAP options settings Local data>>Histoty>>History Status>>On, even then on next logging there will not be any history when I press space bar.
Please suggest/guide on how to enable system to remember previously logged data.
    Thanks.

    Hello Shaiz,
Internet Explorer has no involvement in the SAP History files.
The "Backspace" key is the default key for history entries, so please test with this too.
Make sure that the profile for the user in Citrix is Read/Write. not read-only.

    Hi Amit,
You can use SM19 and SM20 to activate audit log and view.  If you activate audit log it generates logs and it creates lots of files in your file system. For more info on this  cantact your BASIS consultant.

  • Creating simple WWI report

    Hello All,
Can someone kindly write down very basic  steps by which I can create a simple WWI report by extracting some field values from Property tree of specification.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sachin

    Hello Sachin
to my knowlegde WWI is integrated in most of the EH&S submodules. The SAP standard can be used to generate a high number of report symbols which are connected to the different submodules and the SAP EH&S set up can be used to generate if necessary very easily customer specific symbols.
Further on WWI as a "printing" technique etc. has grown a lot in the recent years. Here I can give only a small summary:
With the recent releases of SAP EH&S you can use e.g. a "report template" in a "report template" which is a good starting point in my opinion to handle better the WWI topic. Further on SAP has increased the possibilites in using so called "place holder phrases". One is linked to a "old" relase (related majnly to DG management topics) and a new one which has been prepared recently.
It is a good idea to do a small inquiry in SAP marketplace to find the corrresponding OSS.
As Recipe Management uses in the background to my knowlegde the EH&S indicates that you can use WWI to derive data using WWI from Recipe Management too (Sorry: I have too no experience here).
If you perform an inquiry in SDN you will find a high number of entries regarding "Recipe Management" and in some of them I have seen that similar questions have been asked and answered (how to derive data using WWI). Now coming back to what Niraj said:
If you take a look in cg54 and cg50 you will see a number of "report applications".
Therefore the WWI technique to my knowlegde can now be used in really any EH&S submodule you can think about.
WWI is normally used to generate MSDS, SOP, Lables etc. but can be used ot my knowlege in EH&S IH and OH as well to "print" data in a report.
MSDS and Lables are "special"  from my point of view because of SAP history. The reason is simple. The generation of especially a MSDS or a lable will drive most of your EH&S acitvities in most companyies. Further on SOPs (Standad operating measuress) are used often and in the past in europe tremcards. The generation of a MSDS or a SOP was one of the first major topics which SAP solved with EH&S.  Later on (i believe with SAp enterprise Extenstion 2.0) GLM has been introduced
What is really important is to understand the link between the "substance generation variant" the "report template" and the "report application".
Personally I would suggest that you try to "print" e.g. an identifier as the first step to get expericene in using WWI. From the "technical point of view" such a report layout and generation variant etc. can be created within not more than 2 hours if you have a basic idea of WWI.
    With best regards
    C.B.
Shipped with EH&S there is are some "default WWI" layout (which can be found in the corresponding folder in the WWI on your client).

  • Deactivating sapui5 Diagnostic Tool

How can I disable sapui5 diagnostic tool at all in my application? It's triggered by key combination ALT + SHIFT + S which stands for letter Ś. I do not run my application with debug=true, so it should be "false" by default. Unfortunatelly I haven't found answer to my question in sapui5 documentation. I also tried put

  • Removing Vendors in SQL

    Hi Experts,
When Vendors had any transactions against their accounts, but currently their BP balance is zero and I delete them in zero because they are no longer active, will this also remove their SAP history?
    Thank you.
    regards

    Hi Xander1984,
I am not absolutely sure about your query in the post. Are you trying to remove the balance and delete a Business Partner through SQL Query from the back end?
If yes, then I would strongly recommend you not to do this in the Production database as it is very risky. We require a lot of time and flaws to realize the cascading effect of the tables and by that time, the database starts malfunctioning. I had tried the same and faced a little issues which were resolved in the longer run. But this was done strictly on a testing database.
In order to remove the SAP Log History, there are separate tables that save the data and is almost impossible to find them all until and unless you do not have the ERD.
My suggestion is, do not try this, at least on a Production database.
    Regards
    Sudatta
