SAP_HR EA_HR SP's

When applying SAP_HR SP's in order to receive the latest legistaltive updates for EOFY processing, is there any need to keep the SAP_HR and EA_HR SP's synchronised to the same patch level.  From an technical perspective there appears to be no hard dependency between SAP_HR and EA_HR SP's (although there EA_HR SP's do ahve an dependency on the SAP_HR SP's).

Dear Mitch,
It is best practice to keep these in sync if you use products like PA-AS, ESS/MSS which use EA_HR (or indeed any product that relies on EA_HR) to communicate with SAP_HR core objects and master data.
The exact impact is difficult to predict particularly as SAP have for some time recommended following the stack recommendations it makes any endorsement of a non-recommended stack impossible from our side even if technically possible to use or even if SPAM/MOPZ allows it without flagging pre-reqs or interdependancies between the components.
So yes you should keep your EA_HR synchronised with SAP_HR module.
Hope it helps and Kind Regards
Christine

  • Configuration of ESS and MSS in Portal for HCM

    Hello Friend's,
This is suresh calling for clarifications and doubts in HCM...   see i'm new to portal, but my requirement is to configure ESS and MSS for HCM... i dont know actually wat needs to be done and the way of approach... these are the doubts,
    1. Basic steps for Portal Configuration
    2.  I need some docs for configuring ESS and MSS...
    3.   a) After configuring ESS and MSS, wat needs to be done.. suppose my client is asking for Leave Request in ESS, whether    i  need to create that application in webdynpro java or webdynpro abap in backend and i've to call that application in portal throgh iview...
         b) or by doing the configuration of ESS, by default i will get all the aplications(e,g, Leave Request, Travel Managemetn ....) from that package and it will display in iview...
I dont know basic steps .... plz help me ... Thanks i advance...........!

    Ok. Here are the answers:
    1. Basic steps for Portal Configuration
       > Download ESS/MSS Business Package, it has two parts Business Package for ERP 2005 (Contains iviews, Roles etc) and XSS 5.0 or 6.0 depending upon the version of the ECC.
      > Make sure that you have SAP_HR and EA_HR component installed on your ECC box.
      > Also make sure that there is no compatibility mismatch between version of SAP_HR, EA_HR and XSS.
      > Configure the JCo Destinations, create required system definition and establish SSO between ECC and Portal.
      > Assign the role to the users
    > After doing these steps you can see the SAP provided iviews etc working PROVIDED configuration on HR side are already done.  (This is just to get initial configuration work)

    > Look for that application in WebDynpro (identify the component from iView properties) and show it to the client.
If they are Ok with the basic things then fine else they need to specify the kind of customisation they want in this component
Options available if we need to modify the components

  • BP ESS and MSS

    Hello,
I have SAP ERP 6.0 and portal 7.0 with ESS and MSS versión 1.0. We need to update to the versión 1.41 but in this link says that is required the EHP4 in the ERP. Is that true do we have to upgrade the ERP first?
    http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/EN/76/77594d165144a1a9bff9aae1e26b26/frameset.htm
    Please help me with this.
    Regards

Just to note ---> In WD ABAP there is still dependanices between software components for example BP HRA 1.11 is WD ABAP - there is still key dependancies between BP HRA, SAP_HR, EA_HR and SAP_BASIS
Also moving to 1.4 is considered a move to EHP4 - which means moving ECC to EHP4 as well  - however this applies evern for current WD ABAP products - for example if you want BP HRA 1.41 (WD ABAP) you will also need EHP4 in the back-end (as per note 1375308) so the architecture is very similiar
Whether EHP5 changes all this is not yet clear
    Best wishes

  • Is it possible to use XSS 2005 on EP7 with ECC 5.0 ?

    Hi all,
I have an ECC5.0 and I want to upgrade my EP6 to EP7. I'm using XSS 2004 on EP6 and I want to use XSS 2005 on that EP7. I've seen on different notes that it is not possible to use XSS 2005 with ECC 5.0 as a back end.
Is there any solution to connect XSS 2005 to ECC 5.0 ??? Please I really need a positive answer
    Thanks,

    Hi Joseph,
I have gone thru same problem in my last project but my situation was little different.
Actually Business Package of ESS/MSS has two components:
    1. Portal Objects (iView, Roles, Pages etc )
    2. XSS - The Java WebDynpro Code (which in turn contain 3 component SAP_ESS, SAP_MSS, PUSIC_GP)
Also the prerequisite is that we should have SAP_HR (will give HR functionalities in ECC) and EA_HR (contains RFC, structure required for XSS).
Now the restriction imposed by SAP is that SAP_HR, EA_HR and XSS should be on same version and patch level. Make sense also. However there are situation where you can deviate from above restriction. (I will explain the same below).
So what you can do is to install the Portal objects(iView, Roles, Pages etc ) on EP 7.0 (can be installed on EP 6.0 and federated to EP 7.0), install XSS 2004 on EP6.0 (having JAVA 640) and connect the same with ECC 5.0.
You are looking to install Portal Objects, XSS 2005 on EP 7.0 and connect with ECC 5.0. This is possible but NOT recommended. Actually XSS 2005 WebDynpro will look for enhanced structures, RFC in ECC, which XSS will not find and will throw dumps (sometime java and sometime SAP dumps). You can fix the problem by manually installing the new functionality but believe me it is VERY cumbersome task and will make your system highly unstable.
What I would advise you is to look into your requirement once again and educate your end client with the problem and take appropriate action accordingly.
Do let me know if you need any further help.
    Cheers,
    AB

  • CA - Year End 2011 Planning Question

I am planning to do a Stack Upgrade for this year on ECC EHP4 to Stack level 8. But I am wondering if I should wait until Stack 9 is released at the end of this month. The main driver for the stack upgrade is component SAP_HR & EA_HR.
Last year, we got to SAP_HR level 23 and then applied the CLC. If I apply Stack level 8 it only gets me to level SAP_HR 26. Looking at the releases for SAP_HR it states that #42 will require stack 9 and is listed as a sycnchro point for 2011 and also #36 will be synchro point.
I don't want to do 2 stack upgrades in one year. Will SAP_HR #36 be the synchro point ? or will SAP_HR #42 be the synchro point.
What is the best approach - apply stack 8 and then go to SAP_HR 36 and apply CLC from there ? or apply Stack 9 and go to SAP_HR and either apply CLC or all other releases required for SAP_HR & EA_HR for year end.

    Hi Andrew,
I understand there are two synchro points: one at stack 8 (which requires SP 36) and other at stack 9 (which requires SP 42). The decision about which one to apply is yours. If you go to stack 8, afterwards you will be required to apply more CLCs that going to stack 9. On the other hand if you apply stack 8 you will be up to date with your system earlier and will be able to avoid eventual issues.

  • How to apply support pack

    Hi,
We are going to apply support pack.Currently we are on support pack SAP_HR & EA_HR 27.Can you please guide how we can check dependency while applying support pack 28 & 29.
Can any one please suggest the method of applying support pack.
    Regards
    Santosh

To Apply Support packs first up all you need to download the patches. When you have the downloaded the file i.e.. (*.car ) patch file then you can extract and apply it in two ways.
    1. Go to command prompt through cmd (if you are using windows) and go to the folder where you have download these files ( could be in <drive>\downloaded folder\ ) type this command on command prompt without quotes "sapcar -xvf <filename>.sar". Now it will create a folder called EPS and a folder called IN inside EPS. Go to this folder and it will show two extracted files with extension " .att " and " .pat ".  Copy this two files into yours trans\eps\in folder which could be something like <drive>\usr\sap\trans\eps\in folder. Then type spam on your session and navigate to Support Package\Load Package\From Application Server and it will ask for Path confirm it Say " YES"Select the patch imported and double click on it and then click on small truck Icon and it start Import.
    2. Type Spam on session then navigate to  Support Package\Load Package\From FrontEnd \ and Navigate to path where you have downloaded the *.SAR file of Support Pack. Now it will open a popup window and then click on decompress button ( It is front-End process for extracting or decompressing .sar file in .pat and .att extension ) After that click on Display-Define button on right hand side.) Select the BASIS or ABAP patch ( whichever you are applying *) what ever you are after and import it in queue. After that click on Small truck Icon in menu i.e.. (import Queue) and it Starts importing.

  • SAPehpi: glibc too high

I have just finished installing "ERP 6 Enhancement package 5 on NW 702" (abap stack only).
    The OS is RHEL 6.
The system runs on SAP Kernel 7.20 (not 7.20_EXT yet).
    The Software comonents are:
    SAP_ABA 702
    SAP_BASIS 702
    PI_BASIS 702
    SAP_APPL 605
    ... more 701, 702
    SAP_HR 600
    EA_HR 600
    ... more 600
SAP got lazy and left many components at 600 level.
    I want SAP_HR, EA_HR at 605.
I ran an Enhancement package MOPZ transaction to get the set of packages including SAP_HR 605 and EA_HR 605.
I assumed since I ran an Enhancement type MOPZ transaction I needed to use SAP Enhancement package installer.
There are only two (SAP Enhancement package installer 700 and 710 - no 701 or 702).
The SAPehpi700  tool is warning me glibc 2.12-1 too high.
    Too high for what? SAPenpi?
It's not too high for my kernel 7.20.  The PAM for this kernel lists OS RHEL 6 therefore all glibc versions in this distribution are good.
(see note 1496410 for glibc specifications for RHEL6)
Am I using the wrong tool?  Should I be using SPAM/SAINT?
I'm not switching the SAP kernel at this time.
    Ken

    > The SAPehpi700  tool is warning me glibc 2.12-1 too high.
You can ignore that warning. At the time the SAPehpi version 7.00 was created there was no RHEL 6 (or SLES 11 SP1) and hence the warning comes.

  • SAP_HR Support Pack.

    Hi Team:
Currently  our  SAP_HR  support pack is SAPKE60017 we are  a part of payroll international.
We would seriously planning for the  enhancement of the support pack to the  latest level:
We need  information for the below query  to process further  on this, anybody  faced similar kind of problem can  extend  their co operation:
1.What would be the Exact impact on other sub modules especially
FICO once HR support pack is enhanced to the latest u2013 ECC
    6.0/ECC 6.X including enhancement packs.
2.With the enhancement of latest  support pack, what are the
additional features can be availed in other sub modules of HR domain
    along with core Payroll.
    3. Can the latest support pack be directly implemented or need to be
implemented in a sequence to reach the latest pack.
After SAP big release i. e ECC 6.0, now SAP is releasing
Enhancement packs (Eg :Like ECC 6.2 ).
Now I would like to seek a clarifications that if we would like to
implement latest enhancement pack to fully utilize the
new functionalities/features , do we need to implement first latest support pack
till ECC 6.0 release  followed by  latest enhancement  pack
    (ECC 6.2)  implementation..
Let me know what are the latest support pack pertaining to ECC 6.0 /
ECC 6.2.need to be implemented in order to have latest SP/EP in the system.
Looking forward  for a positive reply.

  • SAP_HR 600 58 to SAP_HR 604 24. Are they similar?

    Hello experts,
We would like to know what is the similarity by means of functionality between SAP_HR 600 58 and SAP_HR 604 24?
As I know, 600 is related to SAP ECC 6.0 and 604 is related to SAP ECC 6.0 Ehp4.
    Can you explain to me?
    Thanks,
    Daniel

We would like to know what is the similarity by means of functionality between SAP_HR 600 58 and SAP_HR 604 24?
=> They are equilvalent in the correction level. You can check this attribute of equivalence in http://service.sap.com/patches => Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group => SAP Application Components => SAP ERP => SAP ERP 6.0 => Entry by Component => SAP ECC Server => SAP HR 6.00 => Support Packages => SAPKE60058      SP 58 for SAP_HR 6.00       Info => Click in Info => Click Expanded Attributes      243 Attributes => Check here the equivalence level
    EQUIVALENT      SAP_HR,604:SAPKE60424,0024
As I know, 600 is related to SAP ECC 6.0 and 604 is related to SAP ECC 6.0 Ehp4.
    => 600 is ERP 6.0 without any EHP applied, 604 is ERP 6.0 with EHP4, 603 is ERP 6.0 with EHP3 applied

  • SAP_HR Support Pack Problem

    Hello,
I am trying to apply the year-end support packs for SAP_HR (SAPKE50023 - SAPKE50026).  I get so far with SPAM, but then I get the following error: Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER, Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE.  I applied the latest TP version just in case that was the problem, but it did not solve it.  Any ideas?
    Thank you for your time,
    Erin Byrne

    Hi Ruchit,
In SPAM, it says the following:
    Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER
    Reason for error: TP_STEP_FAILURE
    Return code: 0012
Error message: OCS Package ALL, tp step "N", return code 0012
I looked at the system log, but there was not anything new there.  In /usr/sap/trans/log, I looked at my N log, & it basically said CONVERSION OF DD OBJECTS (TBATG) ended in return code 0012.  It was not very helpful.  I applied TP version 145 (the latest one I found), but that did not help the issue.  When I look in STMS, there are no errors in the setup either.  Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Erin

  • SAP_HR & EA-HR:  why do they need to be synchronized?

Over the summer, we upgraded to ECC 6.0 SR3.  We included numerous support packages, including SAP_HR ...43.  However, not knowing what EA-HR was, we did not apply any support packages to EA-HR.  Now, we need to plan for year-end, and the HRSP link discusses SAP_HR in tandem with EA-HR.
Although several threads in this forum mention the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60/helpdata/EN/44/4541e0bc511193e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
as an explanation of this topic, I must be saphelp-impaired, because I just don't see exactly what EA-HR is used for when going to this link.  However, there must be SOME significance to EA-HR in particular, if it is mentioned in tandem with SAP_HR.
So, what I really want to know is whether I need to keep EA-HR up-to-date with support packages when I update SAP_HR with support packages.  Naturally, I would like to know why (and what the impact is if I don't keep EA-HR up-to-date).
       Tom K.

So, is there a SAP Note or some SAP guide/document that spells out what (sub)components are used for what functions?  Do the EA-xxx components merely add functionality in the portal/web environment?  When we were on 4.6C, we had perhaps a dozen components (e.g., SAP_BASIS, SAP_ABA, SAP_APPL, SAP_HR, IS-H).  Now, we have over 70 (sub)components, with all of the old ones, plus new NetWeaver components (e.g., SAP_BW, SAP_AP, FINBASIS), plus new mystery components (e.g., EA-IPPE, EA-APPL, EA-HR, EA-RETAIL), along with a myriad of HR subcomponents (e.g., SAP_HRCFR, SAP_HRCFI, SAP_HRCDK).  So, am I expected to keep all 70+ components and subcomponents updated every time that I update support packages?  With no disrespect to other industries, why would I care if I keep IS-OIL up-to-date when we don't use it?  Similarly, an oil company would not care about updating IS-H, unless they ran a hospital!
I'm just not catching on to the strategy.  I'm guessing that all of us now running ECC 6.0 have been bloated with programs that we will never use.  Are we to spend our time and energy and disk space updating scores of components that we will never be in our business plan?  Is there a document with the SAP strategy for this?
Please forgive my frustration.  I have yet to see how this has simplified anything.

  • SAP_HR Sub-components

    Hi
After upgrade my HR Support patch level from 25 to 31, I observed that the following HR sub-components got in..
    SAP_HRCRU      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCRU of SAP_HR
    SAP_HRCPT      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCPT of SAP_HR
    SAP_HRCPH      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCPH of SAP_HR
    SAP_HRCNZ      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCNZ of SAP_HR
    SAP_HRCNO      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCNO of SAP_HR
    SAP_HRCNL      600       0000      -       Sub component SAP_HRCNL of SAP_HR
Is this normal? And why is the patch level 0000 ?
    Regards
    Madhu

    Hi
The support package level of SAP_HR component is SAPKE60031. The NULL support package level appears only for HR Sub-components, which is normal, as these components does not follow the same correction strategy.
    This is normal.
