SAP - HR Fresher

I am B.E (Electronics and Telecomm) 2006 passout. I have 4 years of work experience in education industry, out of which 2 years I have been working as HR Executive(Generalist Role) handling the recruitment & selection, training & Development. I am also pursuing my Masters in Human Resource Development & Management (MHRDM)  part time. As I am from Engineering background, I want to use my technical abilities too rather than just focusing on my management skills. How do I get in to SAP-HR Consultant and will it be practically possible and logical to shift my career path.   Please guide

Hi Shweta,
If you have worked in HR then it would be fine for you to understand the industry processes followed and then its easy to map those in SAP.But you need to gain some knowledge on configuration part if you want to be functional. if you would like to be technical , then surely you need to have programming exp.
In both the cases you need real time exp. . So what you can do is ,get some training in SAP HR and then look for some support projects. After gaining some exp. in real time, you can apply to consulting companies.
Cheers,

  • SAP certified fresher

    Hi Everyone,
i am a sap certified associate in financial accounting and i have completed my certification successfully last month.I just want to get clarified with some of the questions which i mentioned below.
1.Getting a job as a sap certified fresher is very tough is it so? i have been searching jobs in many job portals for one month but every where i could see there is lot of vacancies only for experienced candidates why not for freshers?
    2. Can anyone suggest me some of the job portals where i can find fresher vacancies more?
    3. What should i do consecutively to get a job?
I have also registered in sap careers India. I got a specific user id where only the certified candidates could get but all i need now is mentoring from the people who have pursued their career in sap. I would feel great to all if i have been directed to the right path.
    Thank you

    Hi Sara,
You have to do work hard to get the first job in SAP.
    1. Connect with software companies HR's in Linkedin as they share jobs.
    2. Follow company pages in Linkedin as they post the jobs in their pages.
    3. Follow company pages in Facebook and Twitter as well.
    4. List 50 consulting companies through major job portals and talk to consulting HR 3 to 5 people everyday.
    5. Connect with most of SAP known guys because fresher walk-ins come to employees inbox.
    6. I feel twitter posts are better because when you search in twitter post, it will give exactly email and contact details of job posting.
You need to strike everywhere as something will click for you.
    Best of luck.

  • Does IT services sales experience can be counted as a domain experience for SAP SD Fresher?

    Hello All,
I am new to SCN and i need your help.
I am currently working as a Sales Executive with an IT consulting firm specialized in SAP & Oracle consulting services.
I want to enter into SAP world and i thought that SAP SD is best for me because of my education (MBA-Marketing) & current experience.
When i research on SAP SD i got to know that Domain knowledge is very important for a consultant. I felt happy because I have around 3 Years of Sales experience for Oracle & SAP consulting services.
After enrolling for SAP SD education one day I heard that experience of services industry is not counted as a domain experience.
I had already invested huge money for SAP SD education and now i am feeling helpless because of this news.
Please help me with your experience whether IT services sales experience can be counted as a domain experience for SAP SD Fresher or not?
    Waiting for your response.
    Your Junior,
    Alok

    Alok,
Don't worry! IT service sales experience can be counted as domain experience for SAP SD career.
After being in SAP for some years (as an end user, key user, SD consultant), the most important things are clear process thinking, perseverance, honest hard work and communication.
If you have the above qualities, then you will succeed in SAP!
SAP SD is the logistics side of sales. In other words, there is a Laptop repair shop. If SAP SD is implemented, it will take care of creating repair order, creating billing document. So it is not about selling but about maintaining those "records" in SD.
The above example is of service. This too is part of SD.
So if someone has experience in sale of service that is relevant domain experience.
Apart from this you have to understand, imagine - sale of products.
In sale of products, there will be one addition step - delivery of product, from the manufacturer to the customer / consumer.
    Focus you mind on learning.
    Good luck!

    Raj,
From your description it sounds like you have experience as an SAP end user. This is an excellent start! From here you should start reading everything you can get your hands on about SAP SD. You need to start understanding how the business processes work overall not just how to complete the individual tasks of your day to day job.
Start talking to your coworking and find out where the pain points are in your system. What isn't working or could be working better. Write up a business case as to what is wrong and what the benefit would be to fix it. Talk to your boss and offer to spearhead a project to implement the fix. This will put you in touch with the group that supports your processes and you'll be providing specifications for the fix.
Your goal is to prove to the SAP support group that you will be an asset and get transferred into that group. Once you do, often the company will pay for you to get SAP SD configuration training. After a few years in the support department plus training, then sit for your SAP SD certification exam.  While you're working in the support department, they'll be rolling out new functionality, either incremental functionality improvement or even whole system upgrades. Either way, that experience will form the basis for your next step.
To recap: a couple years as an SAP end user, a couple of years in SAP support group, SAP certification, then you're ready to start over as a junior SAP SD consultant.
I wrote up some general advice previously that you might find helpful. I warn you to be very wary of SAP certification mills that promise to get your certified and put you through mock implementation projects. It will not help you to get certified before you have hands on experience supporting the system. Mock implementations carry no weight. There are some companies that try to get freshers to work on their projects for free with flowery words and lofty promises. The general feedback from folks who have gone that route is that they have ended up suffering for years without being able to get a job in the SAP field, where if they had just taken the tried and true path they would have saved themselves money and suffering.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

  • I need mid size companies... to get the job as SAP HR fresher...

    hi to all,
i need some companies which can encourge the SAP HR freshers..
    which r mid size companies..............
weathe it may be a contract position also...
    bye
    ravi

    Hi Vidan
First of all try to learn the business process and try to understand the business scenarios.Forget about entering into any Organization and try to explore the max and update your self. Then only think of any Organization.Cause though you are a fresher in any Organization, you have to work from day one and hardly you will get help from others. My suggestion is get addicted to SAP and then on a parallel ground start search.
Comming to freshers, there are many Organizations who are looking for freshers. Once you are confident enough then we have our Guru's available in this forum who are always ready to help .
Dont think of a small size or a big size of the Organization , Just explore and if get a chance get into it.
    All the best..
    Regards,
    Sri..

  • How to get a Job as SAP BASIS Fresher

    Hello Master's,
I'm Raju Maddu and I'm from Vizag (Visakhapatnam). I have completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering at 2012. Once I've completed B.Tech, I started my career in the Education industry as System Administrator along with CCNA training at NIIT. And I have 2 years experience in that field.
I did a lot of research and I found that I have a good career ahead of me in the SAP BASIS domain. I joined a institute and I did the BASIS course. They have provided real time training with the SAP BASIS tools and t-codes & Security. And I have real time experience in SAP BASIS.
However, I don't have the SAP certification. I'm trying to get in to the SAP basis field. I also don't know how to reach a right contact for getting a job as a fresher in SAP BASIS.
Please let me know how to get a job as a BASIS fresher. Any help will be very much appreciated.
    Regards.

    Hi Raju,
its somewhat too tough to get a job in SAP as a fresher, but it doesn't mean that it is impossible.
I will only sujjest you to upload your resume at all leading job-portals, but please search any small
scale industry, where sap has been implemented, and talk to them (i know its not easy, but never
    loose your hope anyways).
You have told that, the training institute has provided you real time exposure, but for your kind information, these things are not calculated as a real time exposure in any companies,
if you work in any organization, then only it will be counted.
So, search, search and search, untill you get a job, even in starting if salary will be low, just
catch it, once you will get right exposure, it becomes fruitful for you.

  • How to get proper breakthrough in SAP ABAP

    hi experts ,
i was going through different threads that getting job as SAP ABAP fresher is very tough .If i consider my profile i have only 3.5 years of software development experience .If i do ABAP then i will be fresher in SAP .
1)so how should i proceed to get a proper break through in this domain.
2)When is the Peak time for doing this course.
3)Is Master Degree Essential to get a break through in SAP ABAP.I have B.Sc IT
4)is Genovate /Bangalore / Mumbai  is  a proper place to  get a breakthrough in  SAP ABAP
    Thanks and Regards
    Samit Sarkar

    Hello,
Welcome to the world of SAP ABAP! There is plenty of work at the moment, so you've chosen a good time to start.
I've been doing it for over 10 years, and I would recommend it to anybody.
    As for your questions:
    1) The best way to break into ABAP is do the courses BC400 and BC401. Then try to find a job where you can gain experience
    2) These courses are held all the time
    3) No special degree is required, you just need to know how to program BEFORE you try to learn ABAP
    4) SAP is used all over the world, so don't worry about specific locations
Once you have done the training and have some on-the-job experience, then you should try to achieve certification.
    hope this helps
