SAP HR- Upgrade to ECC6- Project preperation

Hi Gurus,
Please can you help.
My company already have ecc5, and now want to upgrade to Ecc6. I am soon starting the project preperation.
What issues do I have to look into for this? technical and business minded.
Will the be anything to consider, discuss, change?
I am a junior, and have been giving the oportunity to start on this. I need all the help I can get.

from the business perspective also look into the topic "enhancement packages" (see also the separate community here). Basically you can upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 + implement enhancements from these packages in one step.

SAP 4.7 to ECC6 EHP5 Upgrade inc.OGSD - "/ICO/MOC_NEW_GUI" nametab error

I'm currently running a SAP upgrade from 4.72 to ECC6 EhP5 SPS6.
This upgrade include OGSD upgrade from4.72 SP12 to OGSD 6.10 SP5.
Duing phase upgrade phase RUN_RSPTBFIL_DEST, I have the following error message : Could not read nametab "/ICO/MOC_NEW_GUI".
According to OSS note 1377262, I download fix A61000INOGSD.SAR and extract file A-61000INOGSD.SAP in <upgdir>/cofiles (and also in <transdir>/cofiles).
Phase RUN_RSPTBFIL_DEST is still in error when I repeat it.
I note that content of A-61000INOGSD.SAP file is a little bit different regarding my error message:
Inside file:
I 2EETW109 table "/ICO/MOC_NEW_GUI" does not exist in nametab.
My error message:
2EETG011 "[DESTINFO] Could not read nametab""/ICO/MOC_NEW_GUI"

Hello Chris,
we experienced the same issue as you.
After discussion with the SAP Support team, it appears that this migration path is not the good one.
The right procedure is now to upgrade to ECC6 EhP5 with OGSD 6.10 SP0 and then to apply manually the SPs you want on OGSD add-on.
I think they are currently updating the corresponding OSS Notes.

Plug in compatability between BW plugin in R/3 and BI - R/3 upgrade to ECC6

Hello,
we are running SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 Release 700 Patch 19.
Our underlying R/3 system is still 4.6C with plugin 2004_1_46C ( yes, I know it is time )
We are upgrading R/3 to ECC6 with plug in P701 Patch 3.
Questions:
1.) I would like to know where exactly I can see which ECC6 plugin is copmpatible with our BI Version.
2.) Did anyone who has upgraded to ECC6 experience any particular issues when upgrading the plugin?
3.) Sense check of approach - so far the simplistic idea from a BW perspective is:
New R/3 system has been created and connected to BW :
1.)     In BW ACTIVATE SOURCE SYSTEM
2.)     In source system connection option : Replicate datasources and activate
3.)     Transfer global settings u2013 first simulate then update tables u2013 no rebuild should be necessary
Before the Plugin P 701 in the R/3 ( ECC6 ) system can be upgraded the BW delta queues need to be cleared in the source system ( R/3.)
4.)     Clear out V3 queue either via BW as part of the jobplan ( or manually via RSA7 but would mean loss of data )
5.)     After run of batch schedule during posting free period check in RSA7 for entries in delta queue - should be empty
                     now.
6.)     Does the clearing of the delta might need to be run twice to clear the queue completely ?????
8.)                 Deactivate logistics cockpit via SBIW ...LEBW ( is this mandatory ? )
9.)                 If delta queues are empty and the logistics cockpit is deactivated then upgrade the plug ins in R/3
10.)               Then repeat step 1-3 and reactivate the logistics cockpit again

8.) Deactivate logistics cockpit via SBIW ...LEBW ( is this mandatory ? ) - I think you just need to desachedule the collection jobs alone and not deactivate the LO Extractors and activate them once again...

STEPS IN TECHNICAL UPGRADE
     Basis Team will do the prepare activities. (UNIX, BASIS, DBA).
     Developer need to run the Transaction SPDD which provides the details of SAP Standard Dictionary objects that have been modified by the client. Users need to take a decision to keep the changes or revert back to the SAP Standard Structure. More often decision is to keep the change. This is mandatory activity in upgrade and avoids data loses in new system.
     After completing SPDD transaction, we need to run SPAU Transaction to get the list of Standard SAP programs that have been modified. This activity can be done in phases even after the upgrade. Generally this will be done in same go so that your testing results are consistent and have more confident in upgrade.
     Run SPUMG Transaction for Unicode Conversion in non-Unicode system. SPUM4 in 4.6c.
     Then we need to move Z/Y Objects. Need to do Extended programming check, SQL trace, Unit testing, Integration testing, Final testing, Regression Testing, Acceptance Testing etc.,

Activation of Parallel currency while upgradation of ECC6.0

Use transaction OY01, where going in to your country there is a field Hard Currency. Put currency here which you want it to be the hard currency.
This is customizing object which will not allow you to make changes in production instance as NO CHANGES ALLOWED is set for the client in SCC4. Better do this in development and transport it to production.

You can use Char type if the data is in characteres or you can use HEX type if it contains numbers.

I am able to open the web-admin and also all the links except the ones in the adapters section.
I have checked the installation document, adapter guide for BC 4.8 but i couldnt find anything useful.
I was just wondering if it has got anything to do with the OS.

AFAB transaction SAP 4.6 x ECC6

Hello everybody
In SAP 4.6 we have a substitution rule for AFAB transaction. It works well. Now, we are in Upgrade to ECC6.
In SAP 4.6, the AFAB generates a RABUSCH folder to be execute in SM35. These rules were executed this moment.

many others KOSTL
In ECC6, there in no more RABUSCH folder and the accountin is using a new TCODE: AFAB. So, my rules in ECC6 are:

AND ( BSEG-HKONT = '0423013001' ) AND ( (
BSEG-KOSTL = 'ACI' ) OR ...
Substitution rules: change 0423013001 to 0513013001in BSEG-HKONT to some KOSTL.
But it doesn´t works anyway in ECC6!!!
I saw the debbuguing session and the substitution rules are OK (the accountins are changed in real time), but after this point something happening not happened (not chaged to correct accounting when I go to end of DBG)...
Please, help me with something. Does anyone knows this process? There are another TCODE?
OBS.: Rules are active in GGB4 and I run the program RGUGBR00

Thanks for your attention. I tried to substituted the cost accounts of depreciation according to the category of cost center, such as category L(management), F(production) which would use a different account when doing AFAB.
I used the standand user exits under OBBH, and it didn't work. In DBG mode, it showed account can be replace, but nothing happened in the real run.
I had double checked the following, and the account can be replaced if I do the same thing in FB01. (not in AFAB)

Integration testing - It is the phase of software testing in which individual software modules are combined and tested as a group. It follows unit testing and precedes system testing.
Integration testing takes as its input modules that have been checked out by unit testing, groups them in larger aggregates, applies tests defined in an Integration test plan to those aggregates, and delivers as its output the integrated system ready for system testing.
Unit testing - One part or the whole part of transfer rules , update rules, etc..
Integration testing - The whole data flow cycle to be tested

PA20 reports "No Authorization to read" after upgrade to ECC6

Hi Everyone,
We recently upgraded our system from SAP 4.6C to ECC6.0 SR3.
After the upgrade, when we try PA20/PA30, we get the message "No authorization to read data".
The user IDs we use already have SAP_ALL and SAP_NEW profiles assigned to them.
Is there anything that we need to do regarding this?

T COde: SU53. This will check the authorization for the last transaction. If your are not getting the desired result, then acess T.Code: SM01. IN this check, if any T Code is locked.

Upgrading to ECC6.0

Hi,
Our SAP consultants have advised us to upgrade to ECC6.0; however they state the we will not be able to continue to use our CE.NET based hand held scanners and we should 'upgrade' the terminals to WM2005. Apparently we cannot upgrade the terminals, hence we will need to buy brand new WM2005 terminals!
This does not sound correct to me, if it works on WM it should work on CE.NET?
Is this true? Do we need to buy new hand held scanners if we upgrade to ECC6.0?

Hi David,
It's a good idea to move to ECC6.0 from 4.7 because it's entering into Extended maint. from March 2009. I have not much exp. in working with scanners, what you can do is place acustomer message to SAP by http://service.sap.com.
If possible find out is there any chance to get this product supported from next Service Release ?( like SR1, SR2current .... of ECC6.0)

I tried to follow the instructions in note 1269960, but the enhancement spot
CLASSIFICATION_TOOL was already active. I activated it again and reran the phase
but got the same error. Also, I couldn't implement the note using SNOTE because it is
the middle of the upgrade process.
I also found the following long text in ST22
"Internal error during syntax check: ("//bas/710_REL/src/krn/gen/scsymb.c#11"
Processing had to be terminated because an internal error
occurred when generating the ABAP/4 program
"CL_CLS_BADI_CHARACTERIZATION==CP".
The internal system error cannot be fixed by ABAP means only."
I am on a 64 bit System with CentOS Linux. 8 GB RAM, 250 GB HD with 20 GB free space.
So far, I could not find any information on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Victor,
Go to SM37 and put in the username as DDIC and see the job log.
Also check Sm50 and see whether you have BTC processes available.
Last but not the least check your filesystem space usage too.
