  • Benefits of SAP Business Warehouse Reporting compared with the Query-tools?

    Hello experts,
I've been creating reports with SAP Query tools, but been faced with few problems. First of all, there are restricted possibilities in terms of joining tables, and thus I cannot include all the data required for the report.
One solution for this would have been to create separate queries and join the data together in Excel. The problem with this is that there exists no common field that would make sense as for a selection criterion. If the selection criterion is different in different queries, there is the danger of combining false data together, which would eventually result with distorted data.
So I was wondering, could anyone briefly tell me if SAP Business Warehouse reporting would solve these problems? And what other benefits would it provide compared with the SAP Query? I'd urgently need to know if it would be a beneficial investment for the company, since I haven't found solutions for the problems occurred in the creation of reports.
Thank you in advance for you help!
    Maria

The answers are yes - and thousands of companies have gone down this route
Puttingin BW is a strategic aim of the comapny and not to be thought about and discussed in a BI forum such as this
The costs of implementation and hardware will no doubt make your eyes water.
To be quite honest SAP BI is a "no brainer" as most of the new e-SOA and new R3 modules reply on BW for their reporting needs

  • Portal Activity Reporting and SAP Business Warehouse

    Hi,
Does anyone out there know if SAP has or plans in the near future to deliver Portal Activity Reporting content via SAP Business Warehouse?
I would have thought BW would have been the ideal solution to enable some "out of the box" Portal Content in terms of extracting the data from the tables used for the Portal Activity reports, and then extracting them to BW for slicing/dicing & Presentation.
The current standard Portal Activity reporting does not supply what we need. We don't want to spend time and money developing this ourselves if SAP has plans to deliver it in the near future.
    Any news please?
    Cheers, Phil G.

    Hi,
Check this blog which tells about the future of Activity Reporting..

  • SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA with ERP-System

    Hello,
I have a running Instance of SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8.
Here I have the minisap Licence of A4H.
When I get the Licence of ERP - do I have a fully ERP System on HANA ?
Or do I need a new Instance?

    Hi Julia,
even if you or your company have an SAP license for ERP, you are legally not allowed to install the license key into the free offering it because you have accepted the terms and conditions of the trial/developer version.
If you want to use your own licenses, you would need to switch to the BYOL model where you bring in the license. For that you would need to purchase the SAP Cloud Appliance Library subscription. You get more details here (CAL FAQ - Business related questions ). To purchase the SAP Cloud Appliance Library subscription you would need to select the "Unlock full library" link on the top right corner of the Subscriptions screen on http://cal.sap.com.
    Best Regards,
      Hannes

  • Cant find 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]'

I have successfull installed and been running 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7 [Developer Edition]'
In my CAL-account I have seen that 'SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP & SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP8 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP8 [Developer Edition]' has become available.
Searching 'AWS Marketplace' with 'SAP HANA one' only brings up the version (SP5-7) I already have installed. How am I supposed to proceed to install the latest version (SP8-8)?

It wasn't removed. I and at least one other person reported it as abusive, because it contains just a link. I think after three reports, it's automatically hidden until the moderator rejects it permanently, or releases it. In this case, it was released.
Now, why did I report it? Well, the common view (obviously not shared by the moderator here), is that posts like that
    1) Indicate the original poster (in this case you) could have searched for yourself to find the same link
    2) Damage the site as a whole, as you end up with just a whole bundle of links from one place to another and no real content
    3) Encourage posting of FAQ
My experience is that quite often the link isn't in fact relevant, and is just the result of the first hit of a keyword search using google. In this case it was relevant - but couldn't you have searched and found it yourself?
In the areas I moderate, posts that constitute a single link are rejected as a matter of course. See this blog for a full and complete discussion: Posting links and the jungle you end up in..

  • SAP Information portal in PHP

Marilyn emailed a couple of weeks ago and asked if I had any ideas I wanted to write about. I have been doing a lot of Linux consultancy over the past few weeks, and I'm also neck deep in a network monitoring solution. So I have been a bit distracted.
I do have an idea which I would like to share with everyone. it also highlights the power of the combination of PHP and SAP.
I'm currently designing an application which will create a information Portal based on SAP information.
Imagine a web application which has modules of data convey information regarding each aspect of a business's performance. Each module has permissions and roles as to who can consume and manipulate it. The ACL & roles could be pulled from SAP or even LDAP/ADS.
The modules then present themselves by several different presentation methods, PDF, XML,SMS and FLASH.
Each user logs into the application and consumes modules according to what is applicable to job roles.
Can you picture what I'm saying.
Now here is the killer bit. Imagine plotting SAP based data using FLASH. Not only could you create a really rich   presentation system, you could also make it interactive and create some sort of Zoom in feature to increase the granularity of the data presented.
Here are the key ingredients which I'm considering
Article showing how to connect FLASH & PHP
    http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mx/flash/articles/amfphp.html
    My Favorite Application Framework
    http://www.mojavi.org/
And of course the SAPRFC extenstion.
    What do you think?
Wouldn't this make a killer app or what ?
It's just an idea at the moment. I have not started work on it as yet.

For support alone all users will have to upgrade SAP installations. What it does provide you is an opportunity to move into the web enabled SAP world , before you undertake your upgrade.
I have created a subset of this already for a manufacturing firm who are not on a webenabled SAP release. They can now display live SAP mfg data on Plasma screens on production lines, instead of weekly printouts on notice boards.
Eventually they will HAVE to upgrade, but at least they have an opportuity to extract even more value from the current installation.
The whole PHP/SAPRFC thing has a limited lifetime. As more
users upgrade to the newer SAP web enabled SAP systems, this extension will be purely for existing PHP application integration.

    Hi All,
I would like to know some general things about SAP Knowledge Warehouse Like.
    1. Installation?
a.Where can I get the installation DVD from?
b.Is it a part of SAP NW04 installation kit?
c.Does SAP KW require a separate Licence apart from NW04?
    2. Is it possible to integrate SAP KW into SAP EP?

  • Sap knowledge warehouse 7.0

    Dear all,
i m new in SAP Knowledge warehouse. i implemented SAP KW7.0 and now i want to add some personal docs loke word/excel or ppt in content server.
Plz guide me for doing the same.
    Regards.
    Rakesh Thakkar.

    Hello Rakesh,
well, there's a lot of things to do, here a short summary:
you have to configure the system according to the SAP KW configuration guide (http://service.sap.com/instguides).
you need the sap templates, the relevant transports are mentioned in the guide, without them, you can't work.
Then you have to create a context, in ta sii1 (change documentation), you have to switch to the context you created, create a folder, and then, within the newly created folder, you can create documents.
    Hope that helps, kind regards,
    Carl

  • Transform SAP information (idocs, proxies, ...) to UBL

    Hi all,
I'm working in a new XI integration project and one of the goals of the project is to use the UBL (Universal Business Language) to communicate to third party.
I need to transform SAP information - some master data (like site master data, ..) and business documents (like purchase orders, …) –  into UBL standards whenever  it is possible.
I want to know if someone used these standards before, if we have some specific information about how to mapping SAP information in UBL standards, …
Any help or documentation is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ,
I saw this posting a really helpful one. I have a similar situation and my question here is
--> where is the grouping actually done? is it at the ECC side or at the PI side - in the queue?
--> does this group IDOCs with different PO numbers? -- I mean .. does it create diff messages for different PO numbers?
Your help on this is greatly appreciated
    Thanks n Regards,

    Hi,

  • Free Trial SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7

    I have 2 questions:
Relating to accepting Terms and Conditions:
If I click <Try Now> for solution SAP Business Warehouse 7.4 SP5 incl. SAP Business Objects BI 4.1 SP2 on SAP HANA 1.0 SP7
and scroll down Terms and Conditions, the button <I Accept> remains disabled.
Other solutions like SAP HANA, developer edition 1.0 Rev 80 I can accept.
I have to mention, that so far I have no CAL account
Is it possible to choose another Amazon Instance Type - instead of the default one (r3.8xlarge with 244 GB RAM)?
I don't need 244 GB RAM on my BW on HANA server.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Harald,
ad 1) I assume that this is caused by a browser bug. Which browser (IE8, FF31, Lynx, ...) are you using on which operating system (Windows 7, SUSE Linux, ...)? Have you tried another browser to narrow down the possible root causes?
ad 2) The 244Gb instance is not only hosting HANA but also the ABAP/BW portion. In order to have all the demo scenarios of the BW on HANA Trial working it is required that the HANA server has 244GB of memory available. With less than 244Gb the demo scenarios wouldn't work and then there would be users complaining ;-)

  • SAP Information Steward - multiple instances

    Hi,
Can we setup multple instances (DEV & QA) of SAP Information Steward on the same server?
    Regards,
    Prashant

I can go with multiple IT Resources, but we are looking for the more complex way. I am thinking in having multiple resource objects, so they can be audited.
I think the following objects have to be cloned:
    -IT Resource
    -Resource object
    -Provisioning process
    -Process Form
    -Matching Rule
I am not sure about lookups, because (for example) profiles form field uses the it Resource id to identify from where Server it was loaded, so I think perhaps there could be some objects shared between connectors.

  • SAP Information Broadcaster

    Hi Friends,
Can any one give info about the SAP Information Broadcaster ?
    Regards
    Vijaya

    Hi Vijaya,
You can use 'Information Bradcating' whenever we want to distribute queries, query views, Web templates, or reports to Predefined distribution channels like e-mail, portal, or printer.
The following distribution types are often used in BEx broadcaster:
    1. Broadcasting Via e-mail:
Routine activity of sending a report Via e-mail For e.g. Daily Production or weekly Sales etc.
    2. Broadcasting by Exception:
Send E-mail only when some exceptions are met. For e.g. Sales Value for a day less than 5000 Qty or Sales Exceeded 10000 Qty etc. This requires some customization in alert categories so that you will get this option in distribution type as ‘ Broadcasting by Exception’.
    3. Filling OLAP Cache:
Run the query in Background so that subsequent fetches need not hit the data target (cube, ODS…) instead that information can be picked up from the Cache.
You can reach Information broadcasting via many routes.
Via Query Designer - Click on the Drop Down next to Publish' - BEx Broadcaster - Create a new setting.
In some cases you cannot see schedule button. That is a authorization problem. You need to get authorization S_RS_BCS.
    Trust this helps.
    Thanks n Regards
