SAP Jam vs. SCN

Hello,
I'm quite new in using SCN and I'm still exploring it's possibilities. Recently I also started to use another tool SAP Jam.
Having these 2 collaboration tools completely separated woke my curiosity and brought some questions:
- Why there are 2 tools as SAP Jam and SCN and not just one?
- What is the difference in between them? What is their function?
- Why they are separated?
- Do you plan to integrate them?
When interested in a specific topic both tools can provide lots of information. Though the knowledge is split...
Also interacting with other people by switching from tool to tool might be a bit schizophrenic.
What is your experience and best practice?
Thank you,
Martin

Hi Martin,
First, welcome to SCN.  It is a mature and yet still evolving community.  Feel free to engage with the community and help drive conversation around key topics of interest.
Regarding Jam and SCN, this is a question that has been asked many times over the past two years.  In a recent post on Jam, I did provide an answer to another SAP employee regarding the decision of Jive over Jam.  Please check it out https://jam4.sapjam.com/groups/1UVLIu4K6ODKXgDALcNapu/questions/IvfLRLZYiw7FEtrSI9kyNW
The important point to note here is that nothing is fixed.  Platforms evolve, strategies change, and life goes on.  SCN today is based on a Jive platform, and we will continue to push our platform strategy to delivery the best user experience.
Regarding your question about Jam integration, SAP is continuing its efforts to simplify all of its customer touch points.  So, it is not solely about integration, but rather it is about providing an excellent end user experience.  If a customer needs to gain access and functionality from 3 or 4 SAP systems, then that complexity should not be apparent to the end user.  How we make that happen is a different issue and is one that we are working on right now.
I hope this helps, and I would be happy to address any other questions or concerns you may have.
Regards,
Scott

  • Is SAP Jam free for SAP customers or are there costs associated with it?

    Hiya,
We run SAP ERP EHP 6 on Netweaver 7.31.
I've only just come across SAP Jam and Streamworks and they looks really neat. I like the way SAP Jam can be integrated into NWBC side panels...
Something that I'd like to demo to the business.
I think to activate SAP Jam I need to goto SFW5 and activate BC_SRV_STW_03.
I'm just wondering, are there any additional licensing considerations I need to consider or is it delivered 'free' to all customers?
    Many thanks!

    Thanks Rüdiger,
So basically SAP JAM is seperate to ERP, it is a cloud product that we need to implement.
SAP Jam is not free and requires additional licensing/costs.
Once implemented we need to connect to it, so we need to activate BC_SRV_STW_03.
    Is that correct?
    Thansk in advance!

  • How to integrate Lumira Story in SAP JAM Pages?

    Hi,
I have developed a dashboard using LUMIRA version 1.18. The story create using desktop version has been shared in LUMIRA Cloud account with other users.
Now, the requirement is to publish/integrate this story in SAP JAM page.
I am searching on this for quite a long time and didn't find any helpful article on this.
Kindly share your knowledge on this.
    Regards,
    Poornesh K V

    Hi,
the link that Tammy shared is for the BI platform and Jam integration, if you use BI platform then you can take advantage of this, but there is no integration with Lumira Cloud and Jam.
AFAIK Jam does not have the ability to embed the openDocument URL that Lumira Cloud provides in an iframe, but you may just be able to post the openDocument link and have people click on it.

  • SAP JAM work pattern for SAP C4C Service ticket

Can anybody familiar with the SAP JAM Work pattern for SAP Cloud for Customer Service tickets answer these questions?
My client would like to use SAP JAM groups in Service tickets in the following way:
C4C service agents raise service tickets which are then worked on by back-office departments (who don't have access to C4C but will collaborate on ticket resolution via SAP JAM)
Back-office departments work on a high volume of tickets so having one JAM group per ticket is not practical. Instead we would like to have one JAM group per department
Departmental JAM groups should be created in JAM independently from C4C
Upon ticket creation in C4C, the service agent should be able to select the relevant departmental JAM group to collaborate and start a discussion topic
The agent should be able to easily pick up any update/reply from the back office team on the topic he created
Is the scenario above supported? In particular, how can one predefine/auto-select which JAM group is assigned to a service ticket?

  • How to create (or invite) new users in SAP JAM Enterprise edition?

Our client has just purchased SAP Jam Enterprise as they want to integrate it with SAP Cloud for Customers (collaboration on service ticket resolution across departments).
I have just logged in with the administrator account to what appears to be a SuccessFactors homepage. I can see how to get to Jam or to the Admin console. But there is no obvious way of creating new users so we can start running demos with the client.
The JAM administrator guide does not seem to explain how to do that ???
Does anybody have a quick tutorial on this topic?
    Cheers

    Hi Thierry,
there are two guides which help you through the basic steps:
At http://service.sap.com/rds-cfc-erp you can find a guide which describes the basic steps to configure SuccessFactors Platform including user management as a base. The document is part of a ZIP available in service market place and is called "Setting up SAP Jam for Integration with other SAP Solutions".
Please be aware that this guide just covers the minimum steps. For a complete introduction we strongly recommend to register for the SAP Jam Academy and SuccessFactors Academy course available for partners.
In addition there is the INTEGRATION: SAP Cloud for Customer + SAP Jam Guide available in servcice market place describing the actual configuraiton steps required for Jam/C4C integration: https://websmp206.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100002165402015E/1502_Config_CRM_HCI_COD.pdf
    Hope this helps,

  • SAP JAM integration with Cloud for Customer

I'm in the middle of the setup of the SAP JAM to C4C integration and using the guide here https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012002523100002202222015E/C4C_JAM_WP_1502.pdf.
In section 2.4.1.1, it says "Contact your SuccessFactor, SAP Jam customer support or administrator to get the SuccessFactors Secured
Token Service certificate for your SAPJam company."
Since it is the first time I deal with SuccessFactors, I have no idea who to contact to get this "signing certificate". Do I need to contact the SF Cloud support team or is that something I can get on my own from our SuccessFactors instance?
    Cheers

    Hi Thierry,
in general the guide refers to opening a ticket in the SuccessFactors support portal to request the ticket. As this is your first implementation you probably don't have a registered user in here.
    Question:
Do you have someone else on the project/at the customer to help with the basic implementation of the SuccessFactors Platform? If yes, please ask this person to open a ticket with SuccessFactors support.
If not, then you can also open the ticket directly in C4C and it should be internally routed to the appropriate support contact.
Please note: In addition you will also need to do some basic configuration of the SuccessFactors Platform and SAP Jam. More information about initial steps to access and setup
the SuccessFactors Platform for SAP Jam can be found in the document „Setting up SAP Jam for Integration with other SAP Solutions” included in the package “SAP Best Practice for SAP Cloud for Customer Integration” available at http://service.sap.com/rds-cfc-erp
If you are interested in more information, please check out the respective training offerings for SuccessFactors Platform and SAP Jam available as "Academy Courses".
    Hope this helps,

  • SAP Jam Integration with Cloud For Customer error

    Hello Experts,
We are integrating SAP Jam with Cloud for Customer tenant. We have followed the instructions that are mentioned in 1311 guide for SAP Jam integration.
But right now we are getting an error on SAP FEED work center and Account View.
Error that we are getting is as follows:
You are not authorized to access /c/C0000209652T.com/widget/v1/feed?wid=1&auth=single_use_token&skin=gr&faces=true&type=follows&num_items=30&avatar=true&live_update=true&mobile=false&post_mode=inline&reply_mode=inline&single_use_token=&locale=en
Kindly help us understand the mistake or step that we might have skipped.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Chandan Bankar

My example in the document deals with User ID as key_identifier.
ie., we need a unique key which is common to both servers so that we can identify accounts. This is done through assertion attribute exchange.
For eg, if I have an account with userID vatsav in C4C, then I must have an account with same userID in JAM (or vice versa) provided I set UserID for "Account Name Origin" in Step 10.
Doing this way, I am telling JAM that I am using UserID as an assertion attribute which identifies both my accounts in C4c and JAM without any problem. When you login into C4C using vatsav as UserID, it automatically searches feeds for same userID in JAM and displays them in Mashup.
It's a big concept actually. Implementation's already done by SAP.
    Hope, I am clear.

  • Linking SAP Notes on SCN

    Hi,
At the moment navigating between SAP Notes on SCN is quite time consuming. Usually a note has a series of related notes which contain other relevant information. However these are not linked so you have to search for each individual note number in turn to display it. These notes are usually linked to yet more notes and so on...
So what I end up doing is switching over to service.sap.com where the notes are linked together which makes navigation far simpler.
So a great help I feel would be for the Related Notes to be clickable thus making it easier to get to the information you require
You never know it may even assist newbies (such as myself) to quickly get to the cause of a problem instead of posting silly questions!
    Just a thought
    Chris

    Hello,
I agree with this. And in addition it would be good to have some kind of perm url to a SAP-Note which can point to a specific or latest revision, as well as allows switching the language.
Service Marketplace Links are a problem for people without customer login (and without a SSO Certificate) and the SDN Knowledgebase Search in SAP Notes misses the interactivity and linking.

  • SAP Jam integrates with Audit Management?

    Hello everyone,
I'm quite new at SAP software, and I wonder if any of you all know how to integrate Audit Management Module into SAP Jam, if it's possible...
I have been looking for information about integration of SAP Jam but I couldn't find anything about it.
I would like to know if it's possible to modify master data from SAP Jam, into Audit Module. For example, I would like people from SAP Jam edit their planning and working hours, and visualize diagrams to see their occupancy.
Thank you every one, I appreciate any help

    Hi Nieves,
I don't think an out of the box integration is available. However, SAP Jam is an open product that provides an API and re-usable UI components. You can use the API for a data level integration and speed up the development process by adding the UI components to audit management.
You can learn more about the SAP Jam API in the SAP Jam Developer Guide: http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/sapjam/developer/index.html#devguide/concepts/intro.html

  • SAP Jam: Accounts vs email vs instances vs ...

    Hi
Not sure this belongs here, but after several hours wasted during the last few months I decided to try to understand the SAP Jam product.
My actual problem is: I have a company account (related to my company email address), and now I start receiving invites (for groups) on that same email address (used to be another email address belonging to the same company but not the same domain), but when I click through, I somehow still get to a different account (or instance??), with an empty profile. I can switch between these 2, but I can't see the invites from the company view.
So my question is: how do accounts, instances, email addresses etc relate to each other?
Second question (which I'd already given up on): is there a way out of this mess? I would like to have just 1 account, with as many email addresses attached as I like, and to be able to see everything, all groups, feeds, etc.
    Thanks for any clarification!
    Fred Verheul

    Hi Robert,
Thanks for chiming in. I was already afraid I'd not made myself clear enough
OK, we're talking free Jam only. My corporate email address used to be firstname.lastname @ nl4b.com
That's the email address which is linked to my Jam account (I think).
Since some time now we (at NL for Business) use firstname.lastname @ nl4b.nl
That's where the earlier invites went to, and because it's the same company, it's a nuisance that Jam doesn't recognize this (apparently the last part of the domain is relevant for determining the domain/company, which might make sense in general, but not always, and we're not even an international company).
Now the latest group invites are targeted at my nl4b.com email address (as requested by me several times), but when I open the link to view the invite on Jam (example link:
    https://jam4.sapjam.com/extranet/jamatsap.com;IDSactivation=6690939102C0878547A23D41A22CC5E52BDF21186CAD1B306FFBC0CD6E113BDC)
I get (this morning, not sure of earlier result) an Invitation Conflict:
and when I choose continue I have to log on (can't remember I had to do that yesterday) for email address [email protected].
I hope this clarifies. I've now got another problem because I can't logon (even after password reset)... but that might be reason to start another thread (sigh).
    Cheers, Fred
P.S. I think you're correctly assuming I've got invites from another company (and I think it's SAP ). But I find it very odd that to be added to a group within(?) that company (surely groups go beyond company boundaries, otherwise how can you collaborate effectively??) I get a different account, though it's still the same me.
Thanks again for thinking along, hope you can show me the right way to engage on Jam, because at the moment I feel rather helpless.
    Cheers, Fred

  • SAP Jam API - Autodesk

Have any developers or customers developed an API between Autodesk (specifically Buzzsaw) and SAP Jam? We have a particular use case where the user would love to have completed files from Buzzsaw migrate to Jam. Curious if any others have developed something similar. Thanks!

    Hi all,

    Hi Deepak,
You can use the SAP Jam API (http://help.sap.com/download/documentation/sapjam/developer/index.html#intguide/concepts/intro.html) to build a custom mobile app. There is no dedicated SDK for the mobile app.
