SAP/Java Advice

Hello All experts, I am Java/J2EE Developer with 5 years of expience, looking for career shift to SAP.I am specifically interested in learning SAP modules involving Java so that I can leverage my existing skills. Looking for advice on what modules to choose and how to and where to start..
Thanks in advance.
PS: i am new to SAP forums and started exploring all forums. If i am posting in the wrong place, please point me to right forum

Marcos and Sri.. Thanks for the prompt response
I am experienced in both web and enterprise Java. From your posts and what I found in my research,I see Web DynPro is a good module to start with and I see Web DynPro,being a web UI module, is a part of SAP EP.
I need further assistance with the following
1. I need SAP access to practice Web DynPro.I wanna know how to setup Dev environment and where to get the software for educational/learning purpose..links will be helpful..
do I need to buy a remote SAP Netweaver server as well..Right pointers will be appreciated..
2. When I checked teh SAP site, their training catalog mentions the following modules relating to Java.I am using these just as a ref. for what to learn. Seems like 3,4,5 below are more relevant to Java.Seems like Web DynPro is the first one to start coz I see it most prevalently appearing in job posts as well.
I am in Maryland,USA..I did not find any SAP labs near by in east coast.Being new, I am not sure whom to approach for training..googling does not help much .or in general do you suggest any training resources relating to the following SAP training catalog.
1.SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment
-Java/J2EE + Some Modeling stuff
2.SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer  (User inteface related)

    Hi,
You are about to follow the path which every Java developer in SAP goes through.
Broadly , Java is used wherever there are web based intefaces forming the UI layer over the SAP module.
SAP CRM module is one them. It covers ISA, B2B BD apllications that utilise a lot of java coding and language to design the UI screens and jsp using the struts framework.
Since you are a technical guy, I would suggest you to start learning about ,
    1. NWDS - Netweaver Development Studio, a IDE to build and run java applications. ( Though it does a lot more than this)
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/ae/f0b1ee32a040d98b111915b23fb66e/frameset.htm
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/ae/f0b1ee32a040d98b111915b23fb66e/content.htm
    2. Core CRM applications -ISA and Webshop. ( Its internet sales where Java has an edge)
       http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm40/helpdata/en/72/7681532ca9d3119b4c0060b0671acc/content.htm
       http://www.sap.com/solutions/business-suite/crm/internetsales/featuresfunctions/index.epx
    3. SAP Java connector  - Required at all places where your java programs wants to "talk" with SAP.
         http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5c6a85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/content.htm
There lot more in store - IPC( Internet Pricing module, used in ISA), Java Web Dynpro , Enterprise Portal, little bit of ABAP programming ( you need to learn it to have a deeper understanding)  etc
    Wish you luck n success.
    Thnks

  • Configuring JCo3 Connection Pool with single sign on on non SAP Java server

    Hi Everyone,
i have configured a connection pool on JBoss as per JCo3 Documentation and is working great.
Now I need help to configure this connection pool with single sign on so that RFc on SAP ECC systems are executed using end users credential rather than using single user name password used to configure JCo connection pool.
On SAP Java stack I am sure its possible within Java WebDynpro    and i assume using JCA resource adapter. But what if we don't want to use SAP Java App server.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Divyakumar Jain

    Eason, 你好!
I have exactly the same problem.  Did you find a solution to this problem?  If so, please let me know!

  • SAP Java Connectivity Builder -NoClassDefFoundError com.sap.aii...Reference

    Hi there,
I'm trying to generate Java Proxies for SAPJCO using the SAP Java Connectivity Builder (JCB). I got it from the NetWeaver 6.20 Release. The tool installs and runs properly but after putting in the connection properties and klicking "next", the application hangs. When activating System output, I get the error shown below.
I already tried to put all jar files contained in the C:\JBuilder5\lib\ext directiry into the classpath (but none of them contains the class mentioned).
Which is the right (standalone) tool for generating Java Proxies for a standalone Java application?
If it is JCB, is there a bug on the version I use (NetWeaver Release 6.20)?
    Any help would be apreciated.

It looks like the JCE file which you have downloaded is not the correct one. As you can see some jar files are missing. Check JCE files.
Check SAP Note 1240081 - "Java Cryptography Extension Jurisdiction Policy" files

  • SSO to non-SAP java running on Websphere

    Hi,
I have an EP6 SP2 P5 and another java b2b app running on websphere app server and they are on different domains. I'm trying to figure out how to make sso to that app. There is  a guide on SDN written by Tim Mullé, Stephan Boecker "Enabling Single Sign-On from SAP J2EE Engine/EP to Non-SAP Java Applications" . I'm wondering if can make it work if I follow that guide and also the cross domain integration guide for sending cookies across domains?
    Regards
    Ahmet

The process described in the cross-domain document will be necessary in order to get the MYSAPSSO2 cookies to your non-SAP application. You cannot get your browser to send domain1.com cookies to a domain2.com server. Therefro it is necessary to provide an alternate pathway - in this case using http POST. Then the target of the POST on domain2 can handle the data and return a cookie in its own domain. At that point you can either create your own cookie for websphere to use, or you can simply re-issue the cookie in domain2.com. SAP provides some libraries that will enable the other application to validate the cookie.

  • SSO from SAPJ2EE to Non-SAP Java Applications

    Hello,
does anybody know, if there is a newer version of MySapSsoSupport-0.5.tar.gz
This enables Single Sign-On from SAP J2EE Engine/EP to Non-SAP Java Applications.
    Thanks in advance.
    Guenter

    Hi Guenther
I am not aware of this MySapSsoSupport package. As far as I am aware the only supported scenarios for SSO to non-SAP Systems are listed here:

  • How to install the SAP Java Connector

    Hi,
I am unsure how to install the SAP Java Connector on Linux (Suse Linux Enterprise 10). The SAP Integration Kit install and admin guide says:
    ===
u2022 Copy the librfccm library and the libsapjcorfc library to busines
    sobjects_root/enterprise120/PLATFORM_PATH, where busines
sobjects_root is the full path to your businessobjects directory,
and PLATFORM_PATH is your platform. For example, PLATFORM_PATH
is solaris_sparc for an installation on Solaris.
u2022 Use symbolic links for the location of the librfccm library and the lib
    sapjcorfc library.
u2022 Add the location of the librfccm library and the libsapjcorfc library
    to the library path.
    ===
Do I have to do all 3 steps or is the 1st one (copying of files) enough?
On the other hand, the SAP Java Connector guide says:
    ===
Then add {sapjco-install-path} to the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable.
Finally, add {sapjco-install-path}/sapjco.jar to your CLASSPATH environment variable.
    ===
    So, what to do?
    Thanks!

Thanks for your help. So i copied the 2 files as mentioned in point 1.
Where do I have to copy the file sapjco.jar to? There is no shared lib folder after installing BO Edge 3.1 on a Linux system.
I copied the sapjco.jar to /bobje/tomcat/common/lib but still get the message that the Java Connector files are not in the correct directory.
    I already copied the files librfccm.so and libsapjcorfc.so to /bobje/enterprise120/linux_x86 .
    Thanks again!
Edit: problem solved: Copying the sapjco.so to tomcat/shared/lib is correct, if the directory doesn't exist then just create it (mkdir). The message is just plain information 7 hint.

Pls help me to get only SAP Java and Basis roles and Trans Seperately
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are you speaking about the standrad SAP roles? If yes, you can have a look at BC and ABAP roles. However, if your question is about the created roles, you should see the convention that was followed in your organization to identify the roles.

  • Problem removing SAP java system

    Hi everyone,
I've been trying to remove a SAP java system using the uninstall program and have been encountering a problem with the following log:
    WARNING 2006-05-09 17:26:24
Error 1053 (The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
) in execution of a 'StartService' function, line (273), with parameter (XServer).
    WARNING 2006-05-09 17:26:56
Error 1057 (The account name is invalid or does not exist, or the password is invalid for the account name specified.

What could be the possible cause of this error?
In addition to that, I've also been trying to create a new instance but encountered these two error messages in the sdbinst.log

    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
this usually appears in case you stop deinstallation somewhere in the middle. XServer is a service of MaxDB, the DB delivered from SAP.
You could try the program sapstartsrv, which gives you the option to deinstall some services. For this you have to know the SID you gave to the system (also a directory name in the usr/sap/ path with three letters). For XServer please refer to the databases manual.

  • Analysing SAP Java Memory Usage in Unix/Linux

    Hi,
I need to analyze the SAP Java memory usage of Unix /Linux machine..NW 7.0
Please guide with the commands and steps..complete prcedure.
Based on it I should decide whether to create a new server node (or) increasing heap size
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    Do you have performance problems?
How many CPU's are in the server?
Did you check Log Configuration for delays or errors?
Did you tune any exisiting parameters?
You can add the nodes only if there is performance problems. You may think of adding one node to start with
Proper number of server nodes within an instance:
    u2013 #ServerNodes = availableMemory / (JavaHeapPermSpaceStack)
You can calculate the server nodes based on below formula
No. of server Node = (RAM you want to assign or available RAM in GB)/2.5 ============> for 64-bit system
No. of server Node = (RAM you want to assign or available RAM in GB)/1.5 ============> for 32-bit system
Hence as per above discussion, we should go with 5 server nodes means,
    5 = RAM/2.5 (Assuming you are on 64-bit platform)
    i.e. RAM = 12.5 GB
2). u2013 Configure JVM heap according to Note 723909 and Note 1008311 - Recommended Settings for NW 7.0 >= SR2 for the AIX JVM (J9)

  • Is this possible: SAP Java Connector - XI - R3 with XI RFC Adapter?

    Hi,
I try to call a RFC on a remote R/3 System over the XI Server in a Java Application with SAP Java Connector.
I have configured a RFC Sender Adapter in XI. I get the
    following Exception:
"lookup of alternativeServiceIdentifier via CPA-cache failed for channel 'SenderChannel_RFC"!
Is this scenario possible? Or do the connection from
a SAP Java Connector App to the XI RFC Adapter not work?
You can't set the Client and System ID of a Third-Party or
Standalone Java system in the SLD.
    Thanks for any help!
    Regards
    Wolfgang

    Hi,
We use a JCO for directly connecting to sap systems.
In that case we need not use any XI also.
But if you want to use RFC adapter and java application the best way is to use java proxies as sender and reciever as RFC adapter.
I donot think there is any  architectural significance in using rfc adapter of XI while using JCO.
Let me know if I mis-understood the context.

  • SAP Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86.

Who run the Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86?
After I installed Java Gui in Solaris 10 x86 and run guilogon, when I connect the server I created, I got the error message:
Attempt to load shared library /opt/SAPClients/SAPGui7.00/binlibJPlatin.so failed.
The library file exists, so either the program
don't has the privileges to access the library
or the library is not loadable by the shared object loader
    Technical information:
    Error location: GuiJniLoader.loadPlatinLibrary()
Error message: /opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.00/bin/libJPlation.so:ld.so.1:java:fatal:/opt/SAPClients/SAPGUI7.00/bin/libJPlatin.so:wrong ELF data format:ELFDATA2MSB
After I confirm the dialog, another error message appears:
    JniAgiLibAdaptor.<init>: Cannot load JNI library.
I checked the supported OS, it doesn't contains Solaris 10 X86, but I think Solaris 10 was open source, just like linux, why doesn't SAP Java Gui support Solaris 10 X86? And now , how can I solve this problem?

What you see is what happens when the Java runtime running on Solaris 10 x86 tries to load a library which is compiled for SPARC.
Because of the native parts in SAP GUI for Java, compilations and installers are required for each OS - HW combination.
The supported platforms can be seen in SAP note 954572. For Solaris only SPARC is currently supported.
Because of the effort needed for compiling, testing, support etc. it is required to focus on OS - HW combinations widely used on desktop machines and Solaris 10 on x86 currently does not seem to be one of those.

    Hello,
which printing access method you are using?
You might want to have a look at [note 821519|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/821519].

  • Integrating SAP Java Connector with SAP XI

    Hi XI experts
We are about to integrate our SAP ERP2004 system with a new WMS system.  The vendors of the WMS system normally integrates with ERP directly through SAP Java Connector, but we would like to put SAP XI between the two systems so we have good way of monitoring the messages beeing sent.
I would like to make a synchronous test scenario where we send a ARTMAS idoc from SAP to XI which sends it to the WMS. After WMS system receives the ARTMAS Idoc it sends an acknowledgement back to XI which passes it on to SAP.
The integration would then look like this:
SAP ERP <-> SAP XI <-> WMS (Jco)
Is this scenario possible? And if so, how would you suggest to set it up?
I was thinking of using the RFC adapter to connect to the Java Connector of WMS, but am not sure if this is the right approach or how it should be set up.
Any help or comments would be greatly appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Chris

I have made a setup like this:
    SAP <-> XI <-> WMS
    The Scenario is like this:
SAP sends an ARTMAS03 idoc to XI which maps it directly to the same ARTMAS03 idoc structure (need a few changes in the future so thats why im not using IDOC tunnelling) then it uses a RFC receiver adapter to connect to our SAP gateway, where the WMS is registrered through JCO.
When I first sent the idoc, i got a "RfcAFWException: failed to read funtionname from XML document: missing namespace declaration(2)" then after reading Q23 in note 730870, I used the RFCNormalizer xslt to change the namespace to a "urn:sap-com:document:sap:rfc:fuctions" instead of the "urn:sap-com:document:sap:idoc:messages". The error is now "functiontemplate from repository was <null>".
As far as i can see the error is because the metadata repository defined in the RFC adapter cant find the function module that normally would be in the root of a RFC-XML. But I dont know how I can send an Idoc through the rfc adapter to the gateway then. Anyone got some ideas?
    Thanks
    Chris
