  • Locations of server host name in different SAP system files

    Hello,
    We are implementing SAP ECC 6.0, with i5/OS V5R4 on IBM System i.
    Could someone please guide me on the locations where the server host name exists in the different SAP system files.
    We need to change this server host name, and the reason is that we succeeded lately in installing SAP on a new server using restore from entire system backup done on an old server where SAP is already installed, but we can't connect the new server to the LAN as the old server is still connected to it, and we can't have the same host name in the same LAN, even with two different IP addresses.
    Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
    Best regards.
    Reda Khalifa

    Hi Reda
    If the Host name is not the same..you may have to change in the startup/Instance/Default profiles, the new hostname...i.e..replace all the old hostnames with the new hostname....
    Also ..you have to check the Data area R3_<NN> in R3<SID>400 library and check to make sure the hostnames correspond to the new hostname...
    Then delete all the sql packages before you restart the system.
    Hope that helps

  • Upgrade Kernel file during installation of SAP

    Dear All,
    I am installing SAP on windows 2003 server.
    I wanted to know can I update the kernal with latest avaiable kernal on marketplace.
    i.e. for example with installation CDs kernel version is 150. But on marketplace version is 278 or higher.
    I have started installation process. I got saome error and it is suggested that update latest kernel version.
    How can i update kernel file.
    one way it may possible that I can stop installation and copy latest kernel file and start installation as "New Installation"
    But it again takes too much time.
    What will be the best way to do this activity?
    Regards,
    Nirav

    Dear  Nirav,
    Yes you can manually upgrade the Kernel to latest version and then continue with your installation.
    It works fine, i did it at some point of time.

  • Confuse between SAP Kernel and SAP Installation file

    Dears:
    My CPU is ADM 64 bit, but when i try to download the ECC5 which will be installed in linux 32 bit system from SAP site, i find the confuse between SAP Kernel and SAP instllation file.
    1. In the ECC5 download page, i can see lots of oracle download file, some named DVD ORACLE RDBMS 10.2 LINUX_IA32 1 of 4 , some named Oracle 10.2.0.2. for LINUX32. So if the LINUX_IA32 is only for the CPU which is Itanium CPU?
    2. I check the sap update kernel, SAP Kernel 32 bit unicode is devided by sap kernel 6.4 320-bit unicode---Linux on IA 32-bit, so if my CPU is AMD 64 bit, but my os is Linux 32 bit, if the upgrade kernel file Linux on IA 32-bit can be used for Linux 32 bit system whith 64 bit CPU, or if the Linux on IA 32-bit is just for Itanium CPU?

    Hello again
    I just checked the pam again, and it looks like i got it wrong. There is still 32-bit available for ECC5.
    ORACLE 10.2       LINUX REDHAT EL5/IA32 32BIT  24.07.2007  Released SAP KERNEL 6.40 32-BIT
    So technically it should be possible to install it the way you wanted. Sorry for my misleading post (but hey you should still consider using 64-bit :-).
    Best regards, Michael

  • SAP Kernel on Drive D: in dual boot Scenario.

    Hello,
    I am trying to install SAP 4.7 IDES on my system. My system is Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM and 320GB HDD. This is a dual boot system with Windows 7 on drive C: and Windows Server 2003 (x86/SP2/Enterprise Edition) on drive D:. Drive D: has a partition of 50GB for the OS and SAP files. Further I have another partition E: which has a 100GB partition for Oracle. I want to install SAP on the Windows Server 2003 platform, I would like to know if the SAP Kernel can be installed on drive D: (where windows is located). Any help in this matter would be appriciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I want to install SAP on the Windows Server 2003 platform,
    I would like to know if the SAP Kernel can be installed on drive D: (where windows is located)
    Against recommendation as mentioned in official Installation Guide, In your personal system, only for testing/training purpose, you can point SAP Kernel path to any free location which is having around 7GB  to 10GB free space in your system.
    Rest of the information you will find in its concerned Installation Guide and the possible things you can manage within your system if its accommodated.

  • Version of sap kernel

    Hello
    How can i see on our system what we use sap kernel 32-bit or 64-bit?
    regards,
    Denis

    Hi,
    Very simple.
    Go to the path: c:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NT<XXXX>.
    The naming convention itself will tell you as to if the system is 64 bit or 32 bit. If I386 then 32, if it ends with 64 then 64 bit.
    Also this location would be having two files SAPEXE and SAPEXEDB file see the exact number of it and then login to service market place and there match these numbers at the required location to find it out.
    Using command prompt go to the same location and type disp+work you will see a few informations which will have the required details about the kernel.
    regards and reward with good points.

  • Kernel files extracting

    Hi,
    I am trying to apply the kernel patch.I have downloaded database dependent and independent files from service market place into one folder and also copied sapcar.exe file from run directory into this folder.
    i am getting below error when extracting these files.
    "SAPCAR could not open for writing sapcar.exe <error 28>.
    The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
    process.
    please give me the detail extracting procedure.
    rgds,
    vinnu.

    Hi,
    If you keep the sapcar.exe file in the same folder you get this option. Do one thing. Remove this sapcar.exe from this location.
    Now from the prompt, change directory to the location where you have these kernel files. From here give the full path of the sapcar.exe.( for windows c:\usr\sap\<SID>\SYS\exe\uc\NT...\sapcar.exe -xvf SAPEXE....
    From the kernel location in the prompt run this command. It will extract properly.
    Do reward with good points.

  • How to upgrade SAP Kernel in clustered environment

    I have a SAP R3 4.6 C installed on cluster environment, such that if one server goes down, the second clustered server takes the charge of all the resources from failing server. Also I have 6 application servers.
    This is the reason, I have to mantain the SAP exe files in /exe/run on the 6 different application servers seperately. My question is: If I have a shared directory for exe files on central instance, and it goes down, then the 6 application servers will lose connection to those exe files. Then, how should I then connect these 6 apps servers to exe files of the 2nd failover clustered server?
    So please let me know how to resolve this problem.

    Hi Matt,
    Thanks for the update. The cluster is installed with virtual host. But unfortunately we have all exe files seperately on different 6 app servers. Should we NFS mount the exe directory on all apps server. Is NFS mounting sufficient or there are any additional steps to done. I heard that we have to activate sapcpe on the apps server.
    Also after the kernel upgrade, do we have to distribute it on all the apps servers. Can you kindly guide me in this issue.
    Thanks,
    Arun

  • File location in tcode GRAC_WF_MIG

    Hi,
    I am in process of migrating data from AC 5.3 to GRC 10.0.
    As per the Migration Guide, after importing all the exported files from 5.3 into GRC 10.0, I am into step Importing Workflow Rule Data.
    In this step, there is one tcode GRAC_WF_MIG to migrate Initiators and CAD initiator/agent.
    In this tcode the first field is Initiator/CAD File location.
    I am not sure what file name is required here and how to get those files.
    Please help.

    Hello,
    When you export data you give the path where it it sored.
    (configure data export location)
    every thing is there in guide Buddy, let me know if you need anythign in details.
    once you install migration tool you can access link
    1. Launch the GRC 10.0 Data Export Application using the following URL: http://<servername>:5<instance>00/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/grc~acmigapl/ GRC2010Migration where <servername> and <instance> represent the server name and instance in your environment.
    2. Log on to the application using your user ID and password. The user ID must be assigned the Administrator role.

  • Update of 640 kernel files fails

    Hi all,
    I am experiencing a rather strange situation here. I am on Windows 2003 server and MSSQL, running SAP R/3 4.7x200. I am trying to update the kernel files from kernel patch 80 to 154. After I stop SAP and SAPOSCOL and SAP<SID>_00 services, I successfully replace the kernel files in ...\exe\run. I then start the services again and then SAP in SAPMMC. This is where the strange behaviour happends. I have done the exact same kernel upgrade in a sandbox system earlier without any problems. When I start SAPGUI and log in successfully, and check the kernel version, it is still patch 80, and not 154 as expected! I then return to \exe\run, and discover that the files I previously had overwritten are back to the old files! I have done this three times now, and I have checked every file that I overwrite that it has the correct size and date.
    It is quite urgent that we get this kernel upgrade in place, as we are in the process of upgrading our systems.
    Have anyone else experienced something like this? Please let me know if you can help!
    Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Srikishan,
    I have done as you asked.
    In the new kernel files directory the disp+work.exe -version gives me 154.
    I then copy & paste the kernel files into \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run. I then run dispwork.exe -version on the dispwork.exe in \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run, and once again I get version 154.
    When I restart the services and SAP in MMC, I get a funny message at first when looking at the process list. It says: sapcpe.exe    Executable copy.
    When I run dispwork.exe -version now on the dispwork.exe in \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run I get the old kernel version, 80.
    How can this be, and do you have any idea about what I have to do?
    Should I restart the server after I have updated the kernel files, but before I start SAP, or can this cause problems?
    Regards,
    Thomas

      The WSDL file is obtained from the SAP ES Workplace, from the following URL:
    http://erp.esworkplace.sap.com/socoview(bD1lbiZjPTgwMCZkPW1pbg==)/render.asp?&id=4FFC1A97663611DA36BB000F20DAC9EF&fragID=&packageid=DBBB6D8AA3B382F191E0000F20F64781&iv=
      We have already tried both SAP files available from this location; neither works.
      Any insight you can offer to help us generate these proxy classes is welcome. Note that the SAP PDF file, "ESOA-Roadmap-Workshop.PDF" talks about one syntactic incompatibility with Microsoft WSDL (on page 70), but this solution does not work, and indeed the token 'parameters' does not appear anywhere in either SAP WSDL file for Create Maintenance Request eSOA.
      Thanks for any help you can offer!

  • Where is the Application Sharing defaulttrace.trc file located?

    Hi,
    In a help document it says this:
    a.      Set the Application Sharing Server trace file (defaultTrace.trc) to severity info and try to start a new session.
    but where is the Application Sharing file located? or it means the J2EE defaultTrace file?
    Thanx in Advanced!
    Kind Regards,

    Hi Gerardo,
    Collaboration uses the logging mechanisms of the J2EE Engine. Therefore it is the defaultTrace.trc  under .../usr/sap/<SID>/Jxx/j2ee/cluster/serverX/log/ .

  • Missing IDES ECC5 installation disk for SAP Kernel - MaxDB Version

    Hi,
    Our HQ sent us installation disks for IDES ECC5.  We copied them all onto our server and started installation.  The system is now informing us that it can't find the SAP kernel information.
    I can only assume that we're missing one of the installation disks.
    We're desperate to get this installed and it will take another week for our HQ to send through another disk.  Does anyone know whether we can download this from somewhere?  We have had a look on SAP marketplace but you only seem to be able to download the kernel for Oracle, MSSQL and DB2....no MaxDB.
    Additionally, if there is somewhere in Asia we can download this, then that would be better as we are having internet problems when connecting to Europe and the US.
    Thanks in advance!
    Tristan

    Hello Tristan,
    This is not the correct forum to post your question.
    You was not asked about the database(MAXDB) kernel software.
    You need SAP kernel software
    -> Review the installation guides at service.sap.com/instguides ->
    mySAP Business Suite Applications -> mySAP ERP -> mySAP ERP 2004
    -> SAP ECC 5.0 ->
      Installation Guides of SAP ECC 5.0 SR1
    -> < Please see the steps 'How to Proceed' > ->
    -> MySQL MaxDB
    < Part I: Planning and Preparation
      Part II: Installation and Post-Installation  >
    -> select the documents for the OS of your server.
    And the document from the 'Part I: Planning and Preparation' you will get information that you need the SAP kernel CD & & what is the minimum required version & the reference to the location at the SAP Marketplace to download it, if you don't have the required SAP kernel CD.
    < You could download the CD from service.sap.com/installations ->
    Entry by applicataion group ->
    Installations and Upgrades -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP NETWEAVER->
    SAP NETWEAVER 04 ->
    Installation and Upgrade ->
    < OS> -> < database > -> CD 'SAP Kernel ... <database><OS>.
    SAP kernel software is database, platform, Unicode specific.   >
    In the 'Part II: Installation and Post-Installation' document you will find the the list of the required DVDs for the SAP system-ABAP installation.
    -> Are you running the installation of the the 'Central Instance', 'Dialog Instance' or 'Database instance' ?
    For the 'Database instance' Installation you need:
    SAP Installation Master DVD
    SAP Kernel DVD
    RDBMS DVD
    SAP Export DVD
    -> What CD/DVD do you have for the installation?
    <  You could download the CDs from service.sap.com/installations ->
    Entry by applicataion group ->
    Installations and Upgrades -> Entry by Application Group
    -> SAP Application Components -> SAP ERP-> SAP ERP 2004 -> Installation and Upgrade -> <OS> ->SAP DB  >
    You could also order the CD, if you have problems with download from the SAP Marketplace.
    Thank you and best regards, Natalia Khlopina
    PS: SAP Note 19466 will give you information about download of SAP Kernel Patches.
