SAP KW - cannot check in info objects

Following error message pops up while selecting root object for creating structure:
The SAP R/3 System reported the following error while trying to retrieve templates:42-638: Error when transferring data.
Please advise.

Able to check in objects after changing .ini file and uninstalling MS Word udgrades.

Install info object from D version to A version

HI,
I am trying to install the infl objects from D version to A version. I have selected Grouping mode(Only necessary obects0 B default, Collection mode (Collect automatically) Didsplay (Hierarchy mode) and dragged the in fo objects from left side to right side into collected obects and selected install mode (Install and transport) , i gave the trsport also and installed, but ater install if i see in RSD1 still it is in D version only, not in active version only.
Do i need to any other steps required to install info object from D version to A version. Please suggest me if i mssing some thing.

hi
if you want to install only the info objects, follow the steps
click the source system icon on the top
click on objects type under bi content
select collection mode automatically
select only necessary objects, under grouping
expand your info object and select your info object and transfer
check the box , in front of info object
install in in back ground.
by default display is hierarchy.
check the job in sm37, when the status is finished only you can check the info object,
if still it is D version then goto rsd1 , give the info object name and make it active.

SAP security - changing check maintain setting for security objects

I am trying to change the check maintain indicator for a couple of transactions
to alow me to manage access based on security objects that are not currently defined as check maintain. Specifically, I have updated the check indicator
(using SU24) to check maintain for object c_stue_ber on transactions MD11 and MD12 (planned order create/change). The transactions still do not check this object as expected. Does anything else need to be done to enable checking an
object that is not set up as check maintain originally?
Any help is appreciated.

I also wrote a message to SAP and got the following response. Looks like there are no security checks for this object in these transactions.

Dear Doug,
An authority check on C_STUE_BER is not possible for the transactions
CO02, CO03, MD11, MD12, CO26, CO27, CO28, COOIS, COHV, CO05, CO05N,
CO04N, COMAC or CO46.
In CO01 we check if the user has the authority to resolve the BOM
(C_STUE_BER). After resolving the BOM we don't check any longer with
C_STUE_BER since we don't work with the BOM but with a component list
in the order (which is actually a copy or the BOM).
For this component list there is no authority check.
The component list is visible in CO02, CO03, CO26, CO27, CO28, COOIS,
COHV, CO05N, CO04N, COMAC, CO46.
For production orders we use authority C_AFKO_AWA. With this
authority you can limit the access to CO02, CO03 and the change of
production orders by other transactions.
But please note that there are still transactions
that will display the orders and its components without authority
checks. For example infosystem transactions (COOIS, COHV, CO26, CO27,
...) and other processing transactions (COGI, ...). For those
transactions you would have to limit access.
For the creation of planned orders MD11, the authority check C_STUE_BER
is not used. Here you can use M_MTDI_ORG to check on a MRP controller.
So you should enter the same MRP controller in the material master
of the troublesome products and only this MRP controller will be able
to create a planned order for this material.
I am sorry not to be able to offer you any better solution for this
problem.

You can create an info-object based on 0EMPLSTATUS infoobject which maps to STAT1 from 0HR_PA_1.

To Join two SAP fields into one info object

Hi All,
Can you please suggest the best method to concatenate values from two R/3 fields into one info object master data table?
The requirement is to create a Sales report where I need to report on sales against sales type.
Sales type is a list of joint values of item category ( 0ITEM_CATEG) and bill type (0BILL_TYPE).
So, I need a list of all item categories and billing types in a single object and report sales value against it.

Hi Venkat,
In DSO any case you will not be having more than 16 Keys. I am surprised seeing requirement of more than 16 keys, but anyways you need to go with some workaround.
You can concatenate multiple Fields and map to one Dummy InfoObject which will be Key in DSO so in actual you have more than 16 Keys but have 16 Keys in system.
But analyze requirement in detail because this will increase data redundancy and time for load will get increased.
Also for new issues start new discussion otherwise people will not able to help you in this forum.

Error in transporting info-object

Hello Experts,
We need to a import an info-object from Quality to Prod.
From Dev to Quality the transport was successful, but while transporting from
quality to prod we are getting the following errors:
Changes cannot be made, display user only
And as a result the info-object and hence the info-object,transfer rules/Transformation etc are
now inactive in the prod. enviornment.
Could anyone advice on what may be the source of this error??

Error while activating the info object.

Hi,
While activating one of the info objects, i am getting the following error message:
Characteristic 0BP_GRP: Cannot switch off InfoProvider property
Message no. R7B289
Diagnosis
The characteristic receives master data from other objects (for example, transformations or update rules). Therefore it is necessary to select the characteristic as an InfoProvider.
Procedure
If you want to deselect the Characteristic Is InfoProvider indicator, delete the corresponding objects in the data flow.

You can take the datasource name for the Cube and the infoobject
Then pass this to table RSOFIELDMAP , to get the corresponding R/3 fieldname
And for R/3 table u need to check datasources definition in BI content library

Hi Vijay,
The logical info object (LOIO) represents all info objects that have the same topic. However, it does not have any attributes such as language, format, file size, etc.
The physical info objects (PHIO) belonging to a logical info object are the info objects that represent the contents, language and format versions of the topic.

Hi Jini,
In the create screen u will find some settings related information which u need to check and then there are key fields and data fields option.
In Key field u need to include those objects which should make ur ODS Key fields. and then rest of the fields in the data fields.
For setting related information u can search in help.sap.com or even on SDN threads.

Can we add an info object and its nav. attr in an aggregate together?

I am getting an error when I try to add 0MATERIAL and 0MATERIAL_OPROD_HIER in an aggregate at the same time. In the cube, both 0MATERIAL and its attr 0MATERIAL_0PROD_HIER sit in the same dimension. Therefore, when I try to create an aggregate and drag these chars in, they try to come into the same dimension here also.
1st scenario:
1. I add 0MATERIAL in the aggregate.
2. I try to add 0MATERIAL_0PROD_HIER in the aggreate, I get an error message ' Aggregation levels cannot be defined for 0MATERIAL_0PROD_HIER.
3. And it does not let me add this nav attr at all.
2nd scenario:
1. I first add 0MATERIAL_0PROD_HIER in the aggregate.
2. I try to add 0MATERIAL now.. I get the same error as above for 0MATERIAL this time.
3. But it lets me add 0MATERIAL inside.
4. Now, when I go its context menu (right click) and select aggregation as 'All Char Values' for 0MATERIAL, then the error goes away.
5. But after I activate and fill the aggregate, I have a look it again.. and now I only see 0MATERIAL and its nav attr which I added first has disappeared.
Why do the above 2 happen? And if I have an info object and its nav attr in ROWS in a query, and if I am not able to add both of them to the aggregate.. how can I improve the performance of the query?

Hi Srinivas
In your scenario, it is sufficient if you just add 0Material when you are creating the aggregate. Need not add the nvaigational attribute in the aggregate definition. The procedure you followed the first time is right i.e. Drag and drop 0material first.
The system does not allow you to add the nav attribute because it is not required. I say this because a navigational attribute added to your infoprovider is like (in terms of SQL) joining your infoprovider with your material master table. Navigational attribute's value is not physically stored in your cube. It is brought in during execution time in both list cube as well as in your query output.
Similarly when you execute your query with 0material as your aggregate, even if you add a filter or variable restriction on 0Material_prodHier your query WILL use the aggregate since 0material is referenced.
You can even check this in RSRT. Give your query name, and generate report first. Then click on Execute + Debug, Choose Display SQL/BIA Query and enter your selection and choose enter. You will see the SQL of your query and in the SQL select statement you will see that your aggregate table is chosen instead of your infocube. This aggregate table only will be read during your query execution in Bex as well.

Mapping of info-objects

Hello Gurus,
We are about to commence our new project DMS (Distributor Management System), where our secondary sales data will be brought into SAP BW and then we have an advantage of analysing them. We are now at the Blue Print stage, where we need to Map these new infoobjects into the existing one. There are quite a lot of new data coming in, which is of secondary customer. Is there a way to easily map these into existing BW Infoobjects? For the timebeing, am checking each and every characteristic to be matched with BW infoobjects in RSA1 and try to find anything similar. Since all these data are not in Our R/3 system at this moment, we dont have field names, but we just have the descriptions of the chars. Let me know if anyone has done this before and is there any easy way of mapping.

Hi Sriram,
Create some customised Info objects with the technical details similar to the existing R/3 fields.
Once you get the confirmation about the field names you can just change them according to the requirement.

How to know the R/3 table field mapped to BW info object!

Hi,
I have an extractor which is extracting the data from R/3 using View in generic data source.
Now i am making a documentaion of each infoobject involved in the extraction of how exactly it is mapped and how is it getting filled.
In transfer rules i could find the R/3 find easily but i want a table as well as i need to make a screen shots as well for the documentaion.
Example, the field AUFNR which is order number is existing in three tables namely AFRU,AUFK and AFKO ( all are used in view definition )
Now how can i ensure that from whcih table the data is getting filled to the BW info object?
Any suggestions would be appreciated .
