SAP Licensing Issue

One of customer purchased SAP licenses from one authorised vendor and getting implementation done from other authorised vendor.
The vendor from whom licenses were purchased didnot pay full payment to SAP but collected payment from the customer and utilized for his need. As a result, temporary license has expired and the customer is heldup. The implementation team cannot do any work at present.
What if the vendor is unable to pay to SAP. Is there any liability on SAP. Whom to contact in SAP?
What is alternative left to customer now.

You can use the temporary license to extend the expiration date by 4
If you are gone live you are registered your system with sap ,sap will conduct you further activities like sap license and end user license etc. or you can call sap
Procedure
At the operating system level, log on as <sapsid>adm (Unix and Windows) or <SID>OFR (iSeries) to the computer running the central SAP instance.
       2.      Enter saplicense -temp (iSeries: saplicense '-temp').
Enter the SAP System ID
The following message indicates that you have successfully installed the temporary license:
saplicense: Temporary license successfully installed
In some cases, you might not be able to install a temporary license
In some cases, you cannot install a temporary license.
A temporary license can only be set up if a valid license was applied for recently (in the last month).

    We have successfully installed the NW7.31 with ORACLE 11.2.0.4 on AIX.
    Its a fresh installed system, after installation we have applied the saplicense through SLICENSE and after that upgrade the kernel(We have run the ./saproot.sh <SAPSID> with root user).
    Kernels are upgraded successfully, we have checked the disp+work, kernel patch level is upgraded successfully.
    SAP is started normally, but now we are facing two issues on OS level.
    1. Issue is regarding to the saplicense command....

    abcadm 5> saplicense -number
    saplicense: read installation number failed

    2. When we are trying to run the Update statistics on database with DB13 command following error occurs. Even i have tried via brtools but still following error occures.
    BR0301E SQL error -1031 at location BrLicCheck-12, SQL statement:
    'SELECT MAX(SYSTEMNAME), MAX(SYSID) FROM SAP_MLICHECK WHERE EXPIRATION_DATE = (SELECT MAX(EXPIRATION_DATE) FROM SAP_MLICHECK)'
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    I have checked the R3trans -d it working fine.

    This is R3trans version 6.24 (release 721 - 08.05.14 - 16:50:00).
    unicode enabled version
    R3trans finished (0000).
    In SLICENSE tcode it showing the license entries but when we are run the command from os level "saplicense", it didnt found any license entry.

    After system refresh, refreshed system has License info of source system. When trying to apply license from unix, it gives below error, saying system number is incorrect to apply new license. Looks the system number of source system is causing issue. I checked, there is no data in MLICHECK table. I could see some info in "saplikey" table. System is 700 system.

    First check whether you have deleted all invalid licenses?
    use below command to delete invalid licenses
    sidadm>saplicense -delete
    And apply new license based on new hardwarekey with below command
    sidadm>saplicense -install
    *I think there should be some invalid licenses lying in your system

  • Licensing issues - SAP Press books

    I've just been reading threads on the licensing issues surrounding the preview versions of SAP and I'm saddened to hear that renewable licensing may be removed in the future.
    I was just wondering if SAP have thought about all the books in circulation and still for sale that people (including myself) have purchased in good faith to use and learn/demo new SAP functionality, for example, Horst Keller's excellent ABAP Objects book that includes the NSP system.
    Let's hope SAP have a re-think and reinstate the renewable licensing permanently.

    I have successfully installed NW 2004s ABAP Trial Version from the DVD in the SAP Press book: ABAP Objects.
    I requested a trial key (version SP8 or less) and received the following (I can't find what version has actually been installed):

    Has been quite some time since the day I first installed the trial version. But if I remember correctly, you automatically got a temporary license  (4 weeks ?) after a successful installation. When it expires then you renew it ( the step you just did ).
    Please go to transaction slicence to check the temp permit (expiry date).

  • SAP license key error:  no valid license found:  cannot log into SAP GUI

    I deleted temp license from slicense on SM box, since I had already installed new digital license from SAP.  Well, later I tried to log in again and was locked out.  After some research, I found "sap license check failed" in the log files, java will not come up, and the hardware key has changed on me, so the valid license that was active before is not showing up now. 
    I applied for a new license with new hardware key and attempted to install from cmd prompt, using saplicense -install ifile=c:license.txt, but it gets an error.  I put a trace on it and appears it cannot read license file key.  I also tried to install another temp license, but that failed since no other previous valid license was found.  At this point, I'm thinking I need to manually insert the license key into the database, but not sure what table or exactly how.  SAP has not provided a solution yet.
    I believe the hardware key changed due to renaming the server (we took out a hyphen in name) and had also reinstalled afterwards.
    Has anyone else run into this issue?

    Yes, I wish it were that simple, but I cannot even bring up the logon screen.  SAP GUI returns a message, resource temporarily unavailable.  I looked in SAP MMC syslog and found several entries, "SAP-Basis System: No license found for hardware ID DLIC_HWIDKE"
    I tried to install temp license from cmd prompt, but it says refuses and says no old or expired license found.  I also tried to install the new license I applied for from SAP with new hardware key using saplicense -install ifile=license.txt and that failed as well. 
    For NW2004s, is it even possible to install a digital license using cmd prompt?

  • Why does BR*Tools return with the error, No Valid SAP license?

    We are using BRTools 640 on HPUX and Oracle 9.2  Now we use BRTools on the other systems where Oracle resides, but when they got installed on this new system it creates the error:  Invalid SAP license.
    There is no SAP installed on any of the systems.  I am coming into the middle of this and have sratched my head over it until I am now balder than I was before. 
    The ora<SID> user is there and so is the <SID>adm.  The directories are ok with the correct rights and permissions.  So what am I missing?  I know it has to be something that I am missing.  Any help out there?

    No this did not resolve the issue.  Here is what happen. 
    Implemented note 586618 and then completed the semophore part.  That worked as is it should.  Then tired a simple BRARCHIVE and this is what I got:

    This is somewhat irritating because as you I though and you probably did also, note 584418 should have fixed it.
    I have searched the OSS, but to no avail..so if you have any suggestions it would be appreciated.  The really weird thing is it works on other systems.  I think something is just missing and I am just too blind right now to see it.

    Dear All,
    We have an issue with system number in our production system.
    We have generated SAP license key for production during our SAP implimentations. But after that due to some major problem we have again reinstall SAP system and regenerate SAP License key. Now both the SAP License key has different system number. Old one license key we have deleted from SAP Supprt portal.
    How can change the system number in my landscap as per the registered with SAP Support portal.
    Can I delete existing license from my SAP System and reinstall latest downloded key ?

    Well you should have ordered the new license under the same system.

    Yes, that is what you have to do now. If your installation number changed, then you will have to delete the old licenses first. Then you will be able to install the new license.

    Usually the SAP Licenses are with respect to named users and their rights to the system....
    If you have N licences of various types and M employees accessing SAp ( M > N ) then it will be an issue .. usually for services like ESS - you have a licence called employee user and for more access you have professional licenses etc...
    You could check the type of licenses that the company has and the number of licenses of each type and also the Contract signed with SAP as to the licensing policy..

    all the new pc's we've purchased for a time now, don't have a Win7 CoA product key attached, even though they come with Win7 downgrade rights, so your strategy to use the CoA pkeys for the Win7 install on the new machines might be flawed.
    We don't buy HP, and I'm in Australia, so I'm not sure if this will be the same for you.
    Also, the OEM image that you would use to re-deploy/re-image with, may need to be different for varying models (OEMs might include different drivers, or other checks or blockers, in their image and OOBE scripts), and, the embedded OEM "master" product key/certificate
    could vary (or not align) across model types/generations.
    Ours do have the SLIC table in firmware and the OA markers, and we use VL Win7 Enterprise anyway, so our 40,000 machine fleet means VL and Software Assurance as a part of our EA + Select is an (expensive) no-brainer really.
    The other thought I have for you, is the re-imaging rights that are bestowed when you have a VL agreement (and therefore, are not bestowed if you don't have one). Because we do have a VL agreement, I've never dived into how it might be worked if we didn't
    have VL.

    If you do look at a VL agreement, I'm told they start from as few as 5 machines. And, if you purchase new pc's, you have the option to enrol the new pc's into Software
    Assurance within 90days of purchase, which I imagine would save you some cost, compared to attaching SA to them at a later time, presumably requiring you to pay full ticket price for that.
    I'd recommend you get some advice from an MS reseller, even if only to work out what the various options/costs might be.

    As rightly said by Suresh Licence has nothing to do with Records/Employees. Licences are meant for the users who maintain these records in SAP.
    You can have 1000 employees with those many records but can have 1 licence for the user who maintains it.

  • Sap license keys for Test Landscape

    Sap R/3 Enterprise - 4.70
    We have created a test Sap Landscape for testing Backup & Recovery.  We are experiencing licensing issue when trying to log onto the test Landscape because the hardware key has changed.
    We have raised calls with Sap, but as yet have not provided a working solution.
    What would happen if I generated a new license on Sap Market Place for the test hardware as a temporary Measure?
    Would it cause problems with our Production systems, because the license key on Sap Market place would not match the one installed on our productiion system?

    Thanks for your advise, but my Sid is the same.  We have build a full test landscape, on a different network.  I have tried to create a new license on Sap Market place, but this is not possible.  I have rang the Sap Help desk - only to be told that I must create a customer message, which I have, but after 3 weeks of trying they still have not found a solution.
    I was just wondering what problems I would have if I changed my Live details on Sap marketplace to the test machine details - just so that I can generate a new license key, and then change it back.  Don't know what implications this would have?

  • SAP User Maintenance Against SAP License

    I would like to ask for an assistance regarding sap user. This is the scenario: The company has Employee A which was given sap userID with corresponding roles/profiles. Correct me if I'm wrong, the sap license depends also on the number of user in sap system. On this company, they reached the limit of their license according to number of user, for example 400 user. Suddenly,  Employee A resigned. New employee came, Employee B which will replace the job doing by Employee A. If we add another userID on sap system, the number of user will be 401 which exceeded the max user based on the license agreement. One way to solve this issue is to delete the userID as well as the profiles of Employee A and create new userID and profile of Employee B. Another way is to change the userID of Employee A and used its profile to Employee B. Is there available documentation from SAP supporting the above procedure?

    Licensing is based on active users. So if you lock user A, set its validity date to the day he/she left and take away the roles and profiles this user will not count for your licenses anymore sou you can safely create a new account for user B.
    Deleteing users can cause issues in workflow related proceesses and troubles searching in change documents. There have been some discussions about this in the Netweaver forum.
