SAP Lumira Desktop
Hi All,
i have a question about the different editions of SAP Lumira Desktop.
Can i connect to SAP BO universes with the standard edition of SAP Lumira Desktop? Or is there any other edition which i need for this connectivity?
Regards,
Arne
HI Tammy,
thanks for youre fast answer.
I was a little bit confused as i read the following Webinar Series.
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/00a70a76-c7b1-3110-b5b1-c28faa45121d?QuickLink=index&…
On page 37 i read that there are three different edition of SAP Lumira Desktop.
1. SAP Lumira, personal edition - Free
2. SAP Lumira, standard edition - Connect to all data sources including SAP Hana, but NOT Universes (BI suite and Edge)
3. SAP Lumira (for BI suite and Edge customers) - Connect to all data sources including SAP HANA and univereses

SAP Lumira Desktop - Lumira Server problem
Hi everyone,
Since a couple of days I try to publish some reports from SAP Lumira Desktop on SAP Lumira Server. Both versions are 1.15 and SAP HANA version is rev70.
I installed Lumira Server as mentioned in installation guide. Imported package, created related users with needed roles and did define user in xs engine admin. But when I try to connect from Lumira Desktop to Lumira Server I get the error below. I also attached the error trace I found in HANA.
Unfortunately couldn't resolve the problem and I'm not sure where to look.
Any ideas?Hi,
I checked the trace file in Lumira desktop and found the error below. Any ideas?

Publish Dataset and history in sap lumira server
Hi Experts
I'm trying to publish a dataset and story from the sap Lumira desktop to Lumira server.
Tools used
SAP HANA DATABASE REV.80 INSTANCIA EN WINDOWS AZURE
SAP LUMIRA DESTOP V1.18
SAP LUMIRA SERVER V1.18
The process I followed is as follows:
1. Create Users:
CONFIG: Assign the role sap.bi.admin :: BI_CONFIGURATOR. Some other role or privilege required?
TECNICO: Assign the role sap.bi.common :: BI_TECH_USER. Some other role or privilege required?
ANALISTA: Assign the role sap.bi.common :: BI_DATA_ANALYST. This user is the one that has the role to publish in Lumira sap server. Some other role or privilege required?
2. Entry to http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / hana / xs / FormLogin /
I sign in with the password created in hana studio for each user and then make the change the password of each user CONFIG - TECNICO – ANALISTA
3. Entry to http://<HOSTNAME>:80<INSTANCE>/sap/bi/launchpad/fiori
I sign in with the user CONFIG and in the catalag administration of sap Lumira server income in the field Enter technical user TECNICO, so I confirm the sql connection.
4. Entry to http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / hana / xs / admin
I sign in with the user CONFIG sap.bi.launchpad.logic.v2 following path of the package and confirm that the sql connection is for the user TECNICO
5. Entry to Sap lumira Desktop, sign in with the user ANALISTA to access the dataset, I create visualization and history, the last step is to publish the dataset and story in SAP Lumira server, for this I sign in with the user ANALISTA but when I clic on the button PUBLISH IN SAP LUMIRA SERVER is show me this error:
Error - The dataset could not be published to SAP Lumira Server because publishing to the SAP HANA layer failed. Reason is ''. (HDB 11009)
I searched many blogs of sap and tested with the following options but None of the above helped me to solve the problem.

6. Another issue is when I access to Lumira server http: // <HOSTNAME> 80 <INSTANCE> / sap / bi / launchpad / and I sign in with the user ANALISTA, I find a number of the dataset in lumira server but when I run any for create a compose can not access hana dataset.
Shows me the following error
Please help me with this issues
ThanksHi John,
I also forwarded the incident to SAP and as suggested by SAP, after assigning sap.hana.xs.lm.roles::Administrator my issue was resolved.

Hi we are doing a POC on SAP Lumira using Freehand SQL for our business users.
We are trying to connect SQL Server 2012 / Oracle 12.
Taking both the routes I am hitting the same roadblock.
Java Class not found in classpath .com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver.
I downloaded both JDBC Driver 4.0 & 4.1 and tried to setup the jar executable but still I am getting the same error.
Am i placing the driver in correct location.
C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\plugins\com.businessobjects.connectionserver.standalone_3.2.4.B_20141030-231603\ConnectionServer\drivers\java
I even tried completely copying the folder content of 4.0 & 4.1 to the following location after seeing salesforce folder there. We are able to connect to Salesforce without any issues.
C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\plugins\com.businessobjects.connectionserver.standalone_3.2.4.B_20141030-231603\ConnectionServer\jdbc\drivers
But I still end up with same error after installing the drivers from the preferences in LUMIRA.
What am I missing do I need to EDIT any SBO file or Classpath XML file add the String for SQL Server for it to work correctly.
Any help or guidance is appreciated.
Best

SAP Lumira 1.18 - Error while publishing story to Lumira Server
Hi,
I installed Lumira Server and did the configuration in SAP Fiori as mentioned in the blog below.
Simplified SAP Lumira Server Feature Configuration
I created following users with mentioned roles.
LSADMIN - sap.bi.admin::BI_CONFIGURATOR and sap.bi.admin::BI_ADMIN
LUMIRADEV - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST
LUMIRADEMO - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CONSUMER
I logged into SAP Fiori with LSADMIN and successfully added Lumira Configuration Tile to New Group "SAP Lumira Server" and Configured all the roles for Technical user (LUMIRATECH) that has sap.bi.common::BI_TECH_USER role assigned. It was successful. Please see the screenshot below.
After this when I tried to publish a story (created using excel data) from SAP Lumira Desktop application to SAP Lumira Server with LUMIRADEV user, I am getting below error.
Do I need to give any additional privileges to LUMIRADEV/LUMIRADEMO ids to be able to create/view stories?
Please suggest.
Thanks,
AbhijitHi Henry,
We have SAP HANA SPS 08 Database Revision 82.
I suspect this is an issue with some HANA Authorizations. So as a random trial, I assigned MODELLING role to LUMIRADEV user and also granted SELECT rights on LUMIRADEV schema to _SYS_REPO with grant option. Post that I noticed, I could publish Stories created on HANA in Online mode to Lumira Server with out any issue but still having same issue for other data sources e.g. HANA Offline, Excel etc.
Please let me know if there are any additional rights required for LUMIRADEV user.
Thanks,

Handling Smooth Transitions in SAP Lumira Chart Extensions
I assume render is the function that does all the drawing logic for a specific Chart Type in VIZ Packer Utility. How do we handle any updates to the Data and do a smooth transition from the initialized State of the Chart to a final State as defined by Data.
Currently I see render function as to Initialize SVG and implement some code that would display the Chart with initial Data.
-- When the Data gets updated - I don't want to call render function which initializes my SVG again
Is there a different function that makes use of the SVG that was initialized in render function and then apply updates to it that would create a smooth transition from Initial to Final State.Hi,
I believe your question has been answered in your duplicate post here: http://scn.sap.com/community/lumira/blog/2014/06/28/cool-chart-extensions-demonstrated-at-lumira-codejam-vancouver#comment-502992
In summary, You need to use VizPacker to package the extensions, then deploy those extensions to C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\extensions\ . this process is covered in detail in the supporting documentation SAP Lumira SDK (Chart extensions). See here: http://help.sap.com/lumira#section4

SQL 2012 connection not showing in SAP Lumira after downloading and installing the driver
Hello,
I am very new to SAP Lumira. I followed the steps in the videos to install the SQL 2012 JDBC drivers. I downloaded the drivers from Microsoft installed them in the %program files% folder as suggested by Microsoft.
I then followed the instructions for installing the drivers in SAP Lumira and the option to select SQL when Acquiring data is still grayed out.
Any help is appreciated.
I am running SAP Lumira version 1.21.0 build 49. This is the desktop version running on Windows 8.1.
Thanks again for any help.
NelsonHi
Which Edition of Lumira are you using?
SAP Lumira Desktop Personal Edition or SAP Lumira Desktop Standard Edition ?
If I remember correctly I got this option turned on only when I converted my personal edition to a standard edition by applying a key. I could install sql server 2012 JDBC driver by pointing to the correct Jar file in the %program files% folder. This was then available for me to select when adding a Data set. Regards AG -

Hi.
We have installed Lumira in Win 7 machine, When we tried to start Lumira as a different user (Users are having Two Different Windows AD Account) by giving"Run as a Different User', the Lumira just stuck and not opening up completly.
I can see two diffrent processes. in task manager. First one is the default one.
C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\SAPLumira.exe
and the second one is
C:\Program Files\SAP Lumira\Desktop\cefframe\SAPLumira.exe
Both the process are not responding and CPU Utilization is 0 and Memory utlization is constant.
Anyone faced such and issue or whats the solution for this?
Your help is much Appriciated.
thanks
Aby Sebastian.Hi,
@Sharon,
We have a standard edition.
@Henry
We have tried it after changing these details to some common paths in the config file already, but unfortunatly, the same issue is there.
I have already raised this with SAP support team. and as per the support engineer, she/he is not aware of this functionality and asked us to raise a enhansement request...

Access to SAP Lumira cloud fails
Hi,
I am trying to share the data set & visulizations created in Lumira to the SAP Lumira cloud. When I try to publish to Cloud; I always get a warning message"Session could not be opened" (as attached) during logon. I have never been able to go past this.
However my Lumira cloud account is valid and I am able to successfully logon to https://cloud.saplumira,com
Please let me know the reason behind this session logon error.
Thanks,
SreedevHi,
I see this a lot :
new Lumira Cloud account - works ok over a browser
new Lumira desktop install - Cloud account login doesn't work ... wrong password etc
How to solve this ? it's quite easy actually:
Use a browser like Chrome.
access the Cloud URL . Do NOT click login (i.e. to accept the token) -> click Cancel instead .
this gives you the option to enter a user/pwd manually.
Click "reset password"
get your new password via email.
Login to cloud Manually.
Login to Desktop Manually.
it will work.

SAP Lumira - Implementing row level security
Hi All,
I aware that SAP Lumira 1.17 onward allows to share the datasets, stories to SAP Lumira Server as well as SAP BI Platform (4.1 SP3 onward).
But I would like to know if there is any way of implementing Row level security for this published contents i.e. datasets or stories. e.g. If user A (may be an administrator with access to all the regions) creates dataset and story and shares it with other users over SAP Lumira Server or SAP BI Platform. But when user B accesses these contents on any platform, SAP Lumira server or SAP BI Platform, he should be able to see data only as per his access (his own region). Can something of this sort be implemented?
Thanks,
AbhijitHi,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
As per my understanding - as of today, we respect Row-level security when acquiring (fetching) the data from universe into Lumira desktop (also, contexts and business-security profiles i.e. columns)
now, when that desktop user has 'designed' the Lumira document, all of the above: row-level, contexts and security profiles are 'locked-down' into that artefact when shared onwards. (i.e. to Lum Server and hence, BI Platform)
once this content is being access from the BI Launchpad, refresh-on-demand is possible from the story, as well as scheduling of dataset on which it is based.
According this blog by Greg Wcislo (the product owner for the Add-on) Lumira integration for BI4 functionality detailed. note that features such as 'refresh on open' and 'changing design-time parameters' (i.e. prompts) are not yet supported, but very much in future scope / plans.
I believe that one of the other mid-term goals is to architect a 'Lumira server-side universe refresh' (i.e. so that the processing is handled 100% by Lumira server) rather than querying across BIPlatform services then replicating a dataset to HANA (which is currently the process flow)
I hope this helps.

SAP Lumira Server 1.18 - Error While creating visualization
Hi,
I installed Lumira Server 1.18 and configured as mentioned in the blogs below.
Simplified SAP Lumira Server Feature Configuration
I created following users with the roles mentioned -
LSADMIN - sap.bi.admin::BI_CONFIGURATOR and sap.bi.admin::BI_ADMIN
LUMIRADEV - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_ANALYST
LUMIRADEMO - sap.bi.common::BI_DATA_CONSUMER
I did the configuration in SAP Fiori mentioned in the blog with LSADMIN id. I also had Technical user id LUMIRATECH with sap.bi.common::BI_TECH_USER role which was used for configurations in Fiori. It was successful. Please see the screenshot below.
After that I logged on to SAP Lumira Server Launchpad (http://<SERVER>:80<INSTANCE>/sap/bi/launchpad) with LUMIRADEV user. I acquired the dataset from excel. But when I tried to create visualization post successful acquisition, I am getting below error on dropping any dimension/measure on to chart.
Please help. Do I need to give any additional rights to LUMIRADEV?
Thanks,
AbhijitHi Henry,
We have SAP HANA SPS 08 Database Revision 82.
Are there any additional authorizations required for LUMIRADEV user (user which is used for Lumira Server). Please note I am able to publish stories and data sets created on top of HANA Online connection from Lumira Desktop and I am able to access, edit Stories as well as create visualization from published data set on Lumira Server. I suspect this is an issue with authorization.
Appreciate your help.
Thanks,

Hi guys,
Recently, I have started working on SAP Lumira, to see its functionality and I have a couple of questions as mentioned below.
Please advise if you have any clue on these.
1. How is the Security managed in Lumira? Is there anyway where we can maintain user profiles and roles in Lumira?
2. Is there any kind of transport request manager/organiser for Lumira?
Thanks a lot!Hi,
sure, there are lots of resources about the BIPlatform Add-On for Lumira Server.
