SAP LVM 2.0 Provisioned/Cloned Virtual Hosts

Hi All,
Could you please let me know how to define a virtual host in SAP LVM 2.0.
I have configured Virtualization Manager in SAP LVM 2.0 and added the virtual host to SAP LVM 2.0,  But I am not able to see configured virtual host cloning screen.
Kindly suggest me on this.
Thanks and Regards,

    Hi all ,
I have to set up a virtual host on CE7.2
I configure it on "SAP NetweaverAdministrator"  --> "Java HTTP Provider Configuration"
    virtual hosts name : share_folder
root directory : /share <-- all user and group can access (local directory)
    aliases : test_share
    after complete configuration.
I access this virtual host by
    http://<server>:<port>/share_folder
    or
    http://<server>:<port>/test_share
    all response "404 not found"
    Can you give me suggestion.

did you define the alias name dispImageServlet in your web.xml
double click on web deployment descriptors in WSAD , and you will be able to add it very easily

  • HOW TO DEFINE VIRTUAL HOST NAME IN HPIA64 + SAP R/3 ENTERPRISES 4.7

    Hi all,
I am trying to install sap r/3 enterprises 4.7 with OS as HP-UX and Database as Oracle in a cluster environment.
In cluster environment sap installation should be done on virtual hostname ( package id ). I'm using the env variable SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
My cluster is running and I'm able to ping it from network, but at the time of SAP Installation my sapinst starts with the physical host name not with the virtual host name.
What can be the solution ..?
    Thanks,
    Chandresh Pranami.

    Hi Chandresh,
Try executing sapinst with virtual hostname.
    eg. ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=<VIRTUAL HOSTNAME>.
    This should work.

  • Can SAP HANA be used with SAP LVM to provision customised copies of SAP systems within 24 hours?

I have a requirement to automate the provisioning of new and 'copies of' SAP systems (development and QA environments) within 24 hours.
New systems created - based on a template (e.g. an existing SAP Portal, ECC or BW system)
New systems should have unique SID's
RFC's, IDOC's, printers, profiles, e-mail, etc. all needs to be customisable in each new SAP system
The systems need to be shut down overnight (to save on running costs)
Is this possible with a combination of SAP HANA and SAP LVM?

    Hi
SAP HANA in LVM will be doable in the near LVM 2.0 latest SP  which will come out probably around after october 14 but stay tune as the date might be pushed little due to development changes.
AFAIK from your questions some of the features will support and some already in LVM today.
New systems created - based on a template (e.g. an existing SAP Portal, ECC or BW system) - BSuite on HANA will be supported.
New systems should have unique SID's - LVM use cases such as COPY, CLONE, RENAME will be supported.
RFC's, IDOC's, printers, profiles, e-mail, etc. all needs to be customisable in each new SAP system. Not sure but Post Copy Automation should allow to do this..
The systems need to be shut down overnight (to save on running costs). All VM operations such as power off, power on will be normal as long as you configure VCENTER in LVM.

  • Moving system to new hardware with Windows Virtual Host Name

I am building a new system using note  "1564276 - How to install An SAP System on Windows using Virtual Host Names" because I have read that it will be easier to move to new hardware in the future.  How is it easier and what would the process be?  I can't get my mind around how I move to new hardware without re-installing.

    Hi Mary,
If you follow SAP tools and guidelines it is supported for Production environment as well.
For eg: Using SAP LVM tool we can create clones of systems which are supported using this tool.
1709155 - System Provisioning with SAP Landscape Virtualization Management
1767253 - SAP's recommended approach to system copy
In case you are not licensed for LVM tool, suggestion here would be to perform a PoC which covers
    - Creating clone of Production
    - Isolate the PRoduction clone by removing DNS entries
    - Test the Production clone
    - Roll out solution to final migration.
Note: In case you have a JAVA stack system above approach may not help. In that case you may need to go with R3load export/import option and then move the virtual hostname to the new hardware.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to create and access a Virtual Host on the J2EE WAS?

Hello, I have searched through the Forums and help.sap.com and found a lot of information on how to set up a Virtual Host on the J2EE server but am having issues with it working.
The goal is to provide a simple virtual host on the J2EE Portal server to host some static image and HTML files. Previously I had stored these files in the standard publicly accessible SAP J2EE folder location /usr/sap/<SID>/JCxx/j2ee/cluster/serverx/apps/sap.com/com.sap.engine.docs.examples/servlet_jsp/_default/root/. This location is resolved to when using the URL <host>:50000 for example.
The main issue here is that during Portal support pack applications this folder gets wiped out and we have to remember to save off any custom files and folders in this location and replace them.
I would like to create a virtual host to store these static files (i.e., branding-image.jpg, etc...).
I have run through the process of creating the virtual host both using Visual Administrator and <host>:50000/nwa but am not able to get the virtual host name to resolve properly.
The following are the steps that I have taken. Let's assume the standard SAP portal (i.e., xSS, etc...) is running properly on <host>:50000.
    1. create virtual host via Visual Administrator/NWA called 'sapwebserver1' by using the Create Host option (takes on the attributes of the 'default' standard virtual host)
    2. change the root directory for this virtual server to a custom folder at E:/tmp/mimes (where E:/usr is where the J2EE files are all installed), no start files were set up and nothing else was changed in the new virtual host record, no permissions were changed on the /tmp/mimes folder from whatever the default Windows user permissions are normally set, I am using a local Windows  administrator account but I have not seen any reference in the help files or the examples that indicate that any specific permissions updates need to be made on the virtual host root folder
    3. restarted the J2EE server as well as the HTTP Provider service
    4. before updating the company DNS, I wanted to test this locally on the server and so have updated the server's local HOSTS file with a <host IP address>   sapwebserver1 entry
    5. from that server I can ping the sapwebserver1 virtual host name and it resolves properly to the machine's physical IP address
According to all of the documentation and examples I have seen I should now be able to (from that server) launch a browser and access the static files in the virtual host by referring to http://sapwebserver1:50000/branding-image.jpg for example. This is not working and the browser just brings up a Cannot display the web page error in IE. By referring to the virtual host name sapwebserver1:50000 it's supposed to hit the J2EE server and based on the host name sapwebserver1 realize that it should resolve to the root directory E:/tmp/mimes. This is not happening. Just as a test I have created a copy of the 'default' virtual host and called it sapwebserver2, updated the local HOSTS file for this entry, and tried to see if that would work like the 'default' host. My expectation was that http://sapwebserver2:50000 would behave the same was as http://<host>:50000 but it too fails to resolve just like the sapwebserver1 virtual host refernce.
Would anyone happen to have any pointers on what to do next? I just want a simple virtual host to be able to serve up some static images and files.
Thanks for any insight or assistance you might be able to provide here.
    Graham

This defeats the purpose of trying to centralize SAP-related web resources on the SAP server. Typically IIS/Apache or other non-SAP servers are under the control of IT and not the SAP BASIS group.
We simply would like to have a centralized location to store static web files so that they are not overwritten during Portal support pack applications.

  • How to define a separate virtual host for each client in SICF

    Hello,
We have an ERP system with multiple clients running on it. The WebDynpro ABAP applications once developed are available on all clients, as standard. However, this is not our desired behavior. We want:
    1. The WebDynpro ABAP applications should be managed separately in SICF depending on the client
    2. The URL for accessing the WebDynpro application should have a own host name for each client. e.g.
A WebDynpro application on client 100 should be accessed by http://host1:5000/sap/bc/... and the same application on client 200 should be accessed by http://host2:5000/sap/bc/...
After a while researching I find out that creating a virtual host for each client in SICF would be a possible solution to fulfill the above mentioned requirments:
    1. Set the profile parameter is/HTTP/virt_host_* with corresponding host name and port number
    2. Create a new virtual host in SICF assigning the profile paramter to it
    3. Assign a client to this virtual host
My question is how to specify a client to a virtual host? I didn't find any possibilities in SICF!
Anyone can help me? Thanks a lot in advance!
    Best Regards
    Di Li

    Hi Srikishan,
thanks for your reply. Your suggested way is certainly a potential, and also my preferred option for solving the multiple-client-capable URL access to WebDynpro / BSP applications.
However, for some reasons, based on the customer requirements, the client should not be visible in the URL. The URL for accessing the WebDynpro / BSP applications on different client should have different host name, as if they are different companies. Besides that, we want to manage each WebDynpro / BSP application on different clients in SICF separately.
Therefore, at least on my opinion, we need to introduce a virtual host for each client in SICF. But how do I make it happen?

    Optimal Flexible Architecture standard
All Oracle components on the installation media are compliant with Optimal Flexible Architecture. This means, Oracle Universal Installer places Oracle Database components in directory locations, assigning the default permissions that follow Optimal Flexible Architecture guidelines.
Oracle recommends that you use Optimal Flexible Architecture, specially if the database will grow in size, or if you plan to have multiple databases.

  • Publish Abap Web Service in ICF virtual host

    Hello
We have configured our abap aplication server with two virtual host in SICF
one the default_host that listen in http 8080 port and other virtual host that
    listen in http 8090 port.
We need define some ABAP web services that listen in default_host:8080  and other virtual host in virtualhost2:8090.
We define de web service with SE80 wizard and then create the configuration end point
    with SOAMANAGER.
Our problem is that soamanager ever create the entrie of endpoint in sicf transaction, under default_host:8080 service tree not under virtualhost2 service tree. and so we can not call
the web service like http://virtualhost2:8090/sap/bc.... because don't exist, only exist
    http://defaul_host:8080/sap/bc....
we try to copy the entry of the tree under virtualhost2 in the proper place of the tree,
but when call the webservice with soaui the system report the error:
No Web service configuration for this access path: ""
i can see that there are entries in the table SRT_CFG_SRV_ASGN that are related with this
problem, because assign the url of the endpoint of the ws to virtual host, but i don't
know how the system generate this entries.
someone know how call ABAP web service with icf virtual host?
    thanks
    regards
    diego

    Hi Trevor
For test purpose i can do it works.
The key point is create the proper entry in the table SRT_CFG_SRV_ASGN that refer to the correct VIRTUAL_HOST.
When you genreate the endpoint of the service with soamanager, the system generate an entrty in this table with the fiel VIRTUAL_HOST = 0, you can copy this entry and change only two fields.
    VIRTUAL_HOST = <the number of your virtual host>
HASH --> you can calculate this field with the FM CALCULATE_HASH_FOR_CHAR, in the parameter DATA contatenate the content of the fiels VIRTUAL_HOST and URL (be careful with the upercase), this function module return you the hash.
(First you have to replicate the icf tree that soamanager create under your virtual host tree)
With this configuration i can call to my WS over the virtaual host, using soaui.
I hope this can be useful for you.

  • WDA application on virtual host (port)

    Hi,
is there a way how to deploy (create) a webdynpro application on a virtual host (port)? As I generate a webdynpro application, SAP creates a service under default host (port). I need to have my application accessible only on virtual host (port) - different to default. Therefore alias cannot be used. I haven't found any parameter how to set this port when I create a WDA application in SE80.
I'm looking for some system setting or configuration, not application solution.
    Thanks.
    Petr

Without adding a virtual host, did you try using the following arrangement?
    Port 80
    Listen 77777
No virtual host is used here assuming you have only one application - which is this form application whose physical port is 7777.
    thanks,

  • Oracle Portal Virtual Host Enhacement for Multiple Virtual Hosts

I open the TAR Number: 4326752.996
The TAR is related to " REQUEST ASSISTANCE FOR MULTIPLE VIRTUAL HOSTS AND MULTIPLE PAGE GROUPS CONFIG. "
This is the Scenario: We Have Oracle Portal installed in a single Box. yes I know I know... but Not everybody is Yahoo or Google for Clusters and all the good stuff, we just want our website managed by Oracle Portal since all our ERP is running Oracle Database. Anyway. 1 Box running Oracle Portal Infrastructure and MidTier.
It turns out that our previous configuration we have the LAMP Solution with PHP, Apache with Virtual Servers configuration very trivial for a regular web server however we have about 6 Virtual domains.
    For example:
    www.abc.com
    www.def.com
    www.ghi.com
    www.jkl.com
    www.mno.com
    www.pqr.com
We also like to post all our Intranet Information in this great Portal:
    http://intranet.com
Where intranet.com is the same server but setup in our Internal DNS without be a Real Internet Register Domain.
So bottom line we start doing great with Install our single box install, later [GRRRRRR does not come by default in port 80 GRRRRRR, ok need to move and setup the virtual host to resolve our main External website www.abc.com ]
For starters ok it worked we have our main website running Oracle Portal.
Now is time to go to the step number 2.
Setup another Page Group in Portal to be the Page_Group_INTERNAL.
I figure if Apache can setup Virtual Hosts pointing to Independent parts of the File System without be shared. I was expecting some kind of custom configuration where I can setup httpd.conf to point to some specific PageGroups to make sure
    www.abc.com => Page_Group_External
    never share information with:
    intranet.com => Page_Gorup_Internal
My TAR was very quick closed with the Argument that is not what It supposed to do.
Since a virtual host is a common thing to do on Linux and Apache, I wonder if You guys could list this as one of the default features to have multiple virtual domains assosiated with Page Groups that they never talk or share Resources I think that would be really great.
In the mean time I guess we have no option but to put a password for every internal page or take the risk of share our Information to the Internet. Perhaps designate another box with Oracle Portal but In that case Is not really cost/bennefit to use a killer technology for our external site since we just have no more than 30 pages.
Anyway just figure drop you guys a note any advise will be really appreciated.
    Best Regards Dino.

    Hi Martin,
    1. To change the target URL of KM resources you can to the following:
Access the URL Generation Service Configuration by navigating to:
System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Configuration
Content Management -> Global Services -> URL Generator Service
Change the Host property to "portal.company.com".
    2. You change the Port by opening the Visual Administrator and going to : Dispatcher -> Services -> HTTP Provider
Change there the "Ports" entry from (Port:50000,Type:http)to (Port:80,Type:http). Then go on "Save".
    3. To remove the "/irj" from the portal URL you can create a index.jsp with the following content, and save it in the J2EE Documentation folder:
    <Drive>:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<J2EE_instance_number>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.com\com.sap.engine.docs.examples\servlet_jsp\_default\root
    <%
//Send the redirect using server redirection (not client script)
//This will also send the HTTP GET parameters
    String queryString = request.getQueryString() ;
    if (queryString==null ) {
    response.sendRedirect
    ("irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default") ;
} else {//redirect with HTTP GET parameters
    response.sendRedirect
    ("irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.portal.navigation.portallauncher.default?" + queryString) ;
    %>
    Hope this helps,

  • SAP LVM Automation

We have a monthly maintenance window where we patch and reboot all of our SAP instances running on Windows both physical and virtual.
I was checking out SAP LVM 2.0 to see how I could automate the stopping of SAP and rebooting of the servers.
I have created a server reboot script and can execute it from operations tab with no problems.
When I setup an automated task the only options I have is to stop/start/restart SAP.
How can I add my server reboot script as an automation task?
I'm hoping I can setup an automations task to run at a scheduled time where I can stop all my instances, reboot the servers and then start them back up at a scheduled time.
    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi Christof,
In the meantime I was able to fetch the data from the Custom Hooks.LVM is designed to readt teh response of the cistom hooks. Just you have to be consiuos on the parameters you are using in this hooks to get the response. Follow the SAP note 1396981 - Custom Services Configuration for ACC 7.3/SAP LVM to understand the key words and how to use it.
    For example,
the SAPHOSTAGENT configure file should contain the parameters like:
    Mode: Sync
    ResultConverter: hook
This will make your hook to get the details back to LVM. And in the Script make sure the output somehow mention the keywords (Like RESULT).
For example; Output= System running fine
    then in echo you have to mention the result;
    echo [RESULT]:%output%
Then the LVM will be able to interpret it as result and shows you in execution log of this script. And somehow you say that if teh script didn't ran correctly and the output should be error. So, somehow you have to add in the echo or output read by the LVM logs the key word. Something like:
echo [ERROR]:Error occurred while rebooting the server.
Here [ERROR] is the key word and your LVM will understand it and in the logs it writes this as log and your the task will go into error. In this way you will be sure whether script executed correctly.
