SAP MAM 3.0 Configuration

Hi All,
I have been trying to configure SAP MAM 3.0 since last week. There is lot of documentation and different SAP Notes which are making me of lots of confusion. I have downloaded all the required guides of SAP MAP Configuration guide, master guide and installation guide. Is there any other simple way to go through and config SAP MAM 3.0. Our Mobile middleware is Mobile 7.0 and SP13. I have checked all the previous forum discussions about this subject. Please share your experience who successfully implemented SAP MAM 3.0.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Ameer Baba.

Hi Ameer,
well, getting MAM 3.0 working as such is not that difficult at all - to be honest. The problem comes later with the fine tuning. But we want to make it simple and easy - so you get the data down to the device and it gives you a starting point for all the docu.
Ok, we say you have installed properly the MI 7.0 system, you can sync a mobile client, get a Mobile ID and a device ID and all works fine that far.
Good, then lets start!
The good thing is: on the backend, all necessary items are already there! The thing we need: configure an RFC connection from the backend to the middleware and one from the middleware to the backend. Look into the doku, cause the naming of these is unfortunately not free of choice. In my version it was necessary to name it MAM_MI.
Ok, RFC established, next step is to upload the SyncBO definitions. Open the MEREP_MIG screen on the middleware and upload the SYNCBO definition from the CD that fits the backend plugin you have. This is usually either PI2004 or PI2005 in case of MAM3.0. In there you see if the naming of the RFC is correct - cause it shows you which RFC name it needs. If yours is not correct - simply create the one you need. Do not try to rename the requested RFC here in MEREP_PD - it is much easier to simply create a new RFC!
Ok, now lets hop to the backend. We need to configure the MAM in SPRO. We open SPRO, drill down to the MAM settings and setup the stuff there we need. Basically we start with just as less limitations as possible by just adding the user, init the screens for order and notification selection and so on. Straight forwasd engineering and from the screens you should easily see what informartion you need to enter. If you have problems with that, ask your PM or SD people, they can help you with that - for sure!
Compile and enable all these SyncBOs, you can even run the replicator for T01 BOs already. Check in Table MEREP207 on the middleware if all data is there. If you do that before the SPRO steps are done, you will get the message, that there is no mobile scenario for certain users - that is the reason why we do SPRO first.
Then it gets a little more problematic: we need to implement and switch on Server driven replication pon the backend. Cause this is a little bit of a hassle (implement notes, switch on several settings, bla bla .... follow this guide:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/818ac119-0b01-0010-ba8b-b6e3f3490a63
Voila, now even the server driven stuff runs.
Upload the XMAM30.war file to the NWA, assign it to the device and deploy it ..... After a successfull deployment you should see the request of data in MEREP_MON for all MAM syncbos. Voila - now the basic stuff works fine.
Whatever scenario you have chosen, you could get orders down if all is right. Lets say you said orders are assigned by person responsible. Assign the order to you in the backend and sync, then this order should come down to the device withj all other required thuings.
If an order is not comming down - well, then go to the backend and run MAM30_001_GETLIST for your user - see if it is listed there. If not, check SPRO again.
It is as easy as that to get a running MAM version at the first place. Takes you about 1 hour plus the server driven stuff - rest is then on top and fine tuning!
Hope this helps to walk you through. If not - on my card you see my credentials. Feel free to contact me on either Skype or MSN - then I will guide you through.
Have fun!
Oliver

  • SAP J2EE engine for configuring Java mail Service.

    Hi
I am experiencing following exception when trying to use JAVA mail API.
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: Invalid Addresses;
    nested exception is:
    javax.mail.SendFailedException: 554 <email@ddress>: Recipient address rejected:
    Relay access denied
    email address above is valid..
I have to use SAP J2EE engine for configuring Java mail Service.
But is does not hav any such access permissions to check....!!

    Relay access denied
To send mails from SAP system through the mail server which you have configured, SAP server should be permitted to relay through the mailserver. Then only you will be able to send mail to external email address. Otherwise, you will get the above message.
You must contact the mail server administrator and ask him to add the ip of SAP server into the allowed relay list.
If you are using MS exchange server as your mail server and if you have administrative access to the Exchange box, you can do it yourself by following the below steps:
1.Verify that your Exchange computer is not an open mail relay. To do this, follow these steps:
    a.      Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
    b.      In Exchange System Manager, expand the following object:
    Servers\Your_Exchange_Server_Name\Protocols\SMTP
    c.      Right-click the virtual SMTP server where you want to prevent mail relay, and then click Properties.
    d.      Click the Access tab, and then click Relay.
    e.      By default, open relay is blocked. The default settings are as follows:
u2022     The Only the list below check box is selected.
u2022     The Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above check box is selected.
    f.      If you must permit a single computer, a group of computers, or a domain to relay through the server, click Add. In the Computer dialog box, click the appropriate selection for the computers you want to relay through the server. Then, type the required information.
Note Enabling access by IP address or by domain name is helpful for users who do not authenticate with the Exchange computer.
    g.      In the Relay Restrictions dialog box, click OK.
    h.      Click Apply, and then click OK in the Default SMTP Virtual Server Properties dialog box.
    hope this helps you out...
    Cheers,

  • SAP MAM and IntelaTrac

    Hi ,
We have come across a case in which we need to know what are the advantages of SAP MAM over Intelatrac ( a field force automation software)
Has any one done this kind of study ? Which suite suites in which environment and how does one go about deciding which one to go for ?
After initial reading i felt that thare are too many components one would require in SAP MAM as compared to intelatrac.. any comments ?
    -Mahesh

I am not listing down advantages of one over the other but here are few things that need to go in before a decision is made.
    1) Do you want a Offline or an online solution. Sounds likeIntela is a on line solution? Online solutions have there own set of problems e.g. its like working on internet and  suddenly the net going down... we loose all the captured data. Network getting slow and page navigation getting frustrating.
    2) How do you deploy the application to large number of users and how do you track them.
    3) what happens when upgrades are needed and what is the upgrade strategy. e.g. will you be able to work with a few devices on version 1.0 and few on 1.5 if you are going in for a phased upgrade?
    4) Would you have multiple users using the same device ?
There are many more questions that can come up. But first decide wether you need an online or a off line solution.

  • SAP MAM Solution

    Hi All,
I would like to know if SAP has announced that they will no longer develop the MAM (Mobile Asset Management) platform and have selected partners like Blackberry, Sybase etc. for mobile solutions. If this is true, what would be the roadmap for customers who are already using SAP MAM solution?
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Upload / import the SAP MAM 2.5 components Sync BOs

    Hello,
in the SAP MAM 2.5 installation guide, i read page 7 middleware section:
chap 3: import or upload the SAP MAM 2.5 components (Sync BOs) to the SAP MI server. To import or upload the Sync BOs definitions for SAP MAM 2.5 do the following:
    a) use the transaction MEREP_MIG
    b) to import from a transport choose import. To upload from a ASCII file choose umpload from file.
so my question is: which file ? or which tranport order ?

    Hi Rahul,
thank for your answer ! just a precision: i have only to upload this file and then follow the rest of the installation guide steps ?
    regards,
    Eric.

  • SAP MAM capabilities

I am researching the use of SAP MAM on a system that can be off line for long periods of time. I understand some of it's basic uses...
    - Transfer Work Order information from back end system to the mobile device
    - On the mobile device...
        - View historical data
        - Confirm task completion
        - Record Time & Materials
        - Create notifications
        - Assign Tasks, etc.
Once Synced with SAP, task confirmations and Material confirmations update Billing and Inventory.
    My question is this...
How much functionality does MAM have while disconnected? For example, can maintenance planning run and create service orders on the mobile device while disconnected (assuming measurement documents are created on the mobile device)?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi John,
You can at MAM as a tool that allows a user ,while disconnected from the backend, to perform a limited set of PM/CS functions, like create/change order/notification, material/time confirmations, etc.
To be able to do anything, mobile user needs to perform synchronisation (via SAP Mobile Infrastructure as a middleware) to get all necessary information downloaded to the local database of his device. Then activities (that you listed in the beginning can be performed).
Until device is synchronised again with the backend any changes are local to the device and unknown to the R/3 system.Synchronisation is always triggered by the mobile device and if it is successful order/notifs, etc. are updated or created in R/3 system.
To answer you last question: maintenance plan can run in R/3 anytime (it obviously does not run on the device), then order MUST be assigned to a mobile user, then AFTER mobile device triggers synchronisation, those orders that are assigned to that specific user will be downloaded to the mobile device.
Once order is downloaded, mobile user can do changes to that order (like uesr statuses, operations, material/time confirmations, ect.).
In MAM database structure, though, meas. documents are not related to orders directly.
The way it works: when order is downloaded to teh device it brings equipment/func.loc associated with this order (either on header level or tech.objects list). Equipment/Func.loc in turn triggers meas. points associated with this technical object to be downloaded to then. Now! user can create meas. docs for the meas. points.
After device sync, any changes user has done since last sync will be uploaded to the R/3 system.
    Hope that helps,
    Larissa Limarova

  • SAP MI 2.5 Configuration/Installation

    Hi,
I have the task to setup a basic system to try out Mobile Infrastructure 2.5 with MAM 2.5 .
I have seen, that I need a WAS 6.40 as the middleware and for example a SAP R/3 4.6C System as the backend.
The results of my investigations is a combination of the following service releases/packs and versions:
    MI client: MI2.5 SP12
Web AS: 6.40 SP12 and higher
    SAP R/3 4.6C SP 04
    ... and the Plugin: PI2004.1
    is that fine?
Now I need Your help for the installation/configuration of the components. I´m familiar with the development/enhancement of the client application, but I have never setup the system.
How should I start? Are there any guides, how to configure a basic MI2.5 System for the MAM2.5 in fundamental functionality?
I have the installation guide for the MI2.5, but which steps are mandatory, which are optional?
I hope You can give me some advices!
    Regards

    Arne,
Actually, you can refer to the MAM Best Practice document in the SDN. It is located in the MI section in the SDN; the link is called "SAP Best Practices for Mobility". Here it is:
https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/mi/best practices for sap mobile engine 2.5/index.htm
But I can summarize how I do it with the MI and MAM documentation listed below. Hope that helps as well.
Frist of all, you need to make sure you have a stable MI 2.5 middleware system installed before you fully deploy the MAM 2.5 application.
    MI 2.5 Installation
Follow the MI 2.5 installation guide, I have the following sections listed which may help you to get a fast start.
Since you have a WebAS 6.40 system, you already have the MI 2.5 installed. What you need is to do some configuration to ensure it works.
    1. P.24 of the MI 2.5 Installation guide, "Creating Property Files", make sure you have the correct file to connect to the MI ABAP Server Component. Test the MI Sync Servlet as stated in this step.
    2. P.64, "Configuration of Framework Deployment", this is required as you will need this to deploy the MI 2.5 SP09 Client via the web browser. P.122-123, it tell you how to configure the MI 2.5 SP09 settings
    3. P.67 "Starting the SAP MI Web Console", "Uploading Framework Files", this will tell you how to uploade the Client Framework and patches for deployment. Upload the MI 2.5 SP09 Client and MI 2.5 SP12 Add-on to the WebConsole as stated in these pages.
    4. Click on the sync button in the MI Client to deploy the MI 2.5 SP12 Add-on.
    MAM 2.5 SR2 deployment
After you have the MI 2.5 Client framework setup, you can install the MAM 2.5 SR2.
Please following these documents that come with the MAM 2.5 SR2 CD download:
    A. SAP Solutions for Mobile Business - SAP Mobile Asset Management 2.5 (MAM_25_Installation_Guide.pdf)
    B. SAP Mobile Asset Management 2.5 - Configuration Guide
    (MAM_25_Config_Guide.pdf)
You will also need the MI installation guide to setup the middleware for the MAM.
    1. Import the file MAM_2_5_SyncBo_def.txt (comes with MAM 2.5 download) to the WebAs 6.40. (P.73 "Uploading a SyncBO" in MI Installation Guide)
    2. You can follow instructions from P.22-24 in MAM_25_Config_Guide.pdf (MAM Config Guide) to setup the middleware for MAM.
    3. Setting background jobs for the MAM SyncBOs, please refer to P.77-80 of the MI Installation Guide.

    Hello.
I experienced initial version of WSRM but as I know.....
Basically FSCM data is based on PI and WSRM is just kind of cover using web service.
So you can see sync, async messages in tcode SXI_MONITOR even if WSRM configured.
As you see when set up in SOAMANAGER, WSRM just cover web service on existing PI interface and it's transfered through bgRFC, scheduler, ICM etc... but PI interface architecture is still used and only PI server is not used.
    Hope it helps.

  • Regarding SAP PI 7.0 Configuration of Integration Engine

    Hi Experts,
We Installed SAP PI 7.0 Successfully. After that We Run the Template Installers for PI.
Here We Selected <u><b>PI Post Install Process</b></u> Option in the Template Field.
<b>Q1)</b>  After Completion of this Should we Configure All   IE , IS, AE  Or Those wil be Configured Automatically ????
<b>Q2) </b> What are the Necessary Steps to Do Even We Run the Template Installer, To execute a Scenario  Successfully.?????
    Please Let me Know
    Regards
    Khanna

Here is an extract from the OSS note. I guess, this should answer your second question
    Reason and Prerequisites
To avoid problems while using the configuration wizard (template installer )please check prerequisites for post-installation in SAP documentation. That information can be found in SAP Help Portal (http://help.sap.com --> SAP Netweaver --> Installation and Upgrade guide --> Installation --> 2 - Installation - SAP Netweaver 2004s --> SAP NetWeaver 2004s Installation Documentation).
Select your Operating System and Database and look for 'Post-Installation Steps for Usage Type *' in the dedicated document.
Important: You cannot use the configuration wizard after
    Upgrade
Add-In installation (Exception: Configuration of Usage Type BI-Java can be executed after Add-In Installation)
    Additional usage type enablement
    System copy
Always install the latest available SPS + Patches before running the CTC.( You can find the latest LMTOOLS Patch at http://service.sap.com -> SAP Support Portal -> Downloads (Tab) -> Downloads (Menue) -> Support Packages and Patches -> Search for Support Packages and Patches -> Search for: LMTOOLS*P -> Download and Save the .sca. Apply the patch by using the SDM.)
    The sequence is:
    1. Installation
    2. Install latest SPS + Patches (if available)
    3. Run configuration wizard.
You can run the configuration wizard only once for initial configuration.
In these cases, you need to perform the corresponding configuration steps as described in the configuration documentation.
For more information on how to access the configuration documentation, see 'Accessing Configuration Documentation in the SAP Solution Manager'.

  • New to sap - need help in configure backup strategy for SAP XI server.

    hi gurus
being a netweaver guy, recently i have been given  the responsibility of few basis activities.like database backup.
can any one tell me clear procedure to take both daily online and weekend full offline backup of oracle in to disk first and then to tape.   i have seen in the internet  material few discussing about brbackup and few about sap DB13. i am totally confused which one to use, and which is good. please help
    akhil

    Hi,
welcome on board as SAP Netweaver guy,
don't be confused both DB13 and BRtools are the same both of them will call brbackup.
to configure the brtools you have to change in your brtools profiles located at  %ORACLE_HOME%/dbs
please before changing any thing take backup from that folder.
    - to take the backup to disk then to tape you will need extra backup software, because using the SAP slandered tools you have to select either Disk or Tape.
    Thanks
    Sherif

  • Anything in SAP that suits software configuration Management profile..

Hi guys.....i am working as Software Configuration management engineer i want to know if there is anything in SAP (plz remenber my knowledge in SAP is zero!!!!!) that can add value to my domain.

Thank you very much for your answers!
    @Pushkar:
    No this is not exactly what I meant;
What we want to do is a kind of classical configuration management or at least version control of
development objects like ABAP programs, table definitions, table data etc. that are contained within our SAP development system.
It's not about version management of external documents imported into SAP.
I know that there is a kind of version control via Transports, but this does not cover all classical version control mechanisms; what we are missing there is
    - the possibility of reverting to an older version of an 'object'
    - Branching / Merging mechanisms
    - the possibility to choose which changes I want to release with which transform and which objects
    - view differences between arbitrary versions of an object
I was hoping there is maybe a kind of 'add-on' or maybe even a built-in tool that provides classical version control mechanisms or something similar.
    Thank you for further help,
    Regards,
    Jörg
