UI configuration in SAP MDG 7.0 for Financial

Hello all
Now I'm working in sap MDG 7.0 SP2 for Financial. I want to create UI configuration based on change request step.
I copied standard ui configuration for Cost center MDGF_0G_OVP_CCTR into Z configuration. I also configured Properties of change request step
and link logical action, but when I create cost center, my change request form is missing.
Please help to find out,maybe I missed some step...

Please find answer to your queries. As suggested by Marcus, don't copy the UI unless its really required.
1. Requester fill cost center description - Create a change request type with CCTR / CCTRH and CCTRG added in it. Don't select single object or object required. When requester will create a request for cost center, they will able to fill up only description.
2. When the request is with approver, they can change any field if the request is not read only. You can either give read only access or give full authorization. These are the only 2 options available and I feel its valid.

Hierarchies in SAP MDG data model

Hello Gurus,
Could any one please let me know how to create hierarchies in SAP MDG Data models..I have gone though the SAP Help document and but couldn't understand it..If any one has worked on this , please let me know.

Hi Jose,
I'll start with simple hierarchy demo containing HIERARCHY NAME, GROUP and OBJECT.[HIERARCHY NAME is the top node, GROUP is the middle node and OBJECT is the end node]
1.In data model, you have to create all the as 3 entity types.
2.In the middle node,i.e. GROUP here, choose the hierarchy option as version dependent or Non-version dependent as per your requirement.
3.In the middlle node,i.e. GROUP here, build hierarchy by assigning
Entity Type for hierarchies ->Entity Type of Node , Use
Here the top node,i.e. HIERARCHY NAME ,will be assigned use as Hierarchy names
You can find related documentation by using F1 help on specific field.
4.Your hierarchy model is now ready.

Maintain Hierarchy Using Programming in SAP MDG

Dear SAP MDG guru,
Can someone have an idea how to maintain/modify hierarchies in MDGF using a programming sequence?
we have a requirement where in cost center we have a field cost center group, after the cost center created, we build an exit program in workflow to attach/move cost center to the appropriate cost center group,
I already know how to maintain hierarchies using hierarchies processing menu, where we can remove or add cost center in cost center group, but i need to now what is the standard program/FM use to doing that,
anyone have an idea?

there is no standard for that. You have to use collective processing.

Can a functional consultant with no ABAP skills learn MDG ? What skills are required to become MDG consultant ?

Yes functional consultant can take SAP MDG and work on that. It is just configuring and mapping master data according to different SAP and Non-SAP systems master data. The market is very slow in MDG because big companies only want to implement for master data harmonization due to heterogeneous environment. If you do a job search, companies posted only less jobs. Think before you take the decision but if you stand for 5 years down the line this MDG will have a big market in the world. So you need a patience if you are taking this module.

There is no limit to explore in MDG. As a functional consultant you are responsible for -
1. Defining scope of MDG
2. Set up governance process - Workflow
3. Configuration - MDG (Activate services - functions / role set up / Data modelling / process modelling / replication set up ) - You have to involve in each of these activities with technical. You can also do it on your own.
4. Testing - end to end testing and training
5. Cut over activities - data load etc
In these areas, you have to contribute 100% and work with entire team (tech) for set up.
As mention, you can explore a lot in MDG.

Configuration of SAP MDG User Interface in Customer Namespace - 7.0

Hello All.
I have been constantly reading about the mentioned content,
SAP MDG user interfaces from one single place. A dedicated WebDynpro application is provided to manage all user interface configurations.
You can also copy a standard SAP user interface configuration to the customer namespace and configure it to your requirements.
Can anyone give more details about the SAP MDG User Interface or share any links which denotes the same in detail.

The document mentioned in the link does not state anything related to use user interface in customer namespace as suggested by sap in Innovations page. this is more about FPM applications.
Can you please suggest how do we use MDG User Interface in the customer environment directly as suggested by SAP.

I'm inbetween projects and I would like to volunteer my time to produce some SAP multimedia tutorials - in the form of Camtasia screencasts - which seem to be missing from this site (if there are any, please point me to the navigation path, I would like to check them out).
The topics I would be covering are:
- Beginning / intermediate ABAP programming;
- Beginning / intermediate BW WHM (backend administration / warehouse management);
- Beginning / intermediate Basis administration;
If there is any interest, please let me know.
I would also need remote access to a miniBasis sandbox, if anybody has one sitting around idle.
Installing one on my laptop is not feasible (not enough RAM).

Can anyone tell me whether user exits can be implemented in SAP MDG.

Yes there are many User Exits available in SAP MDG. You can find these in SAP documentation for Master Data Governance.
For every configuration setting, you have BADIs mentioned in the documentation provided by SAP.

SAP MDG and article master in SAP IS-Retail

We need a solution, where external vendors can contribute with article information, the master data persons can enrich the vendor information, and where the articles can be created appropriately afterwards in SAP ERP.
SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) seems to be the right solution for standard SAP. And SAP MDG has also been described in enhancement packages for SAP Retail since at least ECC 6.05, Nevertless previous discussions such has MDG-Material and IS-Retail indicate that SAP MDG is not appropriate for SAP Retail.
Please contribute with your considerations and experiences: Is MDG appropriate for article master data maintenance in SAP Retail?

The thread you are refering to is quite old, there is a solution available now for doing retail master data governance on SAP MDG. This is offered as a consulting solution now.
The data model itself is modelled after the IS Retail data model for Article master and would leverage on the data governance capabilites offered by the MDG framework.
It is not exactly a supplier portal for data exchange but there have been architecture discussions on using a 'lean' version of the data model as a vendor facing portal and seperating this from internal facing MDG for enriching the ERP specific parts of the article master data , before governing and commiting to the ERP system.

Error 1- Created label "site_name_label" is not assigned any input_field. As per naming i think you are supposed to assign labelfor property of "site_name_label" to "site_name_input" .
Same way you check for error2.

I am new to SAP MDG area, Can any one suggest or share step to step sap mdg learners guide. It is very important to me to update knowledge in this area. I've checked to so many documents in google search - but i failed to understand process configuration in required order. So, can anyone help me on this any end to end guide for SAP MDG. If it is materials, financials anything is fine.

BRFPlus Rules not working in SAP MDG 7.0 sp2

Hi Experts,
I am working on SAP MDG 7.0 Service Pack 2, and am facing issue in validations created in BRFPlus.
I have created Check Function Validations in BRFPlus, to be applied on the Change Request Screen of customer / supplier of SAP MDG.
The validations are active in BRFPlus but do not appear on clicking the check button
Please let me know if anybody has created validations in BRFPlus and if they are working on Change Request UI of SAP MDG 7.0 sp2 ??

Can you post a screenshot of your BRF+ validation function? Check functions of a certain entity will only be called if something in that entity changed. If you don't change anything, the validation funciton of that entity will not be called.
The simplest way to test if a function is being called, is to add a rule that displays a message always (without condition). You should be able to see your message when you click the "Check" button.

As you already possess strong background knowledge with Master data, MDG is a right direction to go-ahead, As it is embeeded inside ECC so, it is more closely related to various master data domains and we have standard content(for various master domains) available plus excellent feature to customize your own master from scratch with strong governance in place.
So, According to my suggestion, Master Data Governance will be the excellent choice to go-ahead.
