SAP MDM IMAGE MANAGER
Hi All,
We are using SAP Image Manager to generate variants for new images uploaded in MDM.
Daily we have to manually check if there are any new images available for which variants have to be generated.
We are considering to automate this process. To automate this process, we will need to know the available commands for the same.
Please let me know if there are any references or guides available to automate the process.
Thanks in advance.

MDM Image Manager Export variants?
Hi, another question from a newbie.
I try to import pictures via API to the Image Manager. (This should work, but i don't know yet how to....) After that step i want to create the variants by the API too ( and i don't know how to do it, too).
My question is now:
Can i export these created image variants and save them anywhere?
Thanks alot for your help!!!!!
Best regards,
Frederik HoptFrederick,
Just to expand on Melanie's answer. You can export images out just as she described, through the Data Manager.
You cannot import or export images through the Image Manager. Images must be loaded/exported through the Images table in the Data Manager and then the variants are created through the Image Manager. I'm not sure on how to use the API to do either of these.
Thanks,

Unable to use 'Visio Professional 2003' with 'SAP MDM Data Manager 7.1'
Hello,
I'm currently working with MDM 7.1, and I installed 'Visio Professional 2003 SP2' to build my workflows.
The problem is that:
(1)- As the third pane ('Step Properties') did not appear in Visio when I drag & dropped icons => I executed 'Data Manager' help procedure (p. 301 / 302); cf.: help.sap.com : configuration of file paths in Visio, via 'Tools'>'Options''Advanced', etc.
(2)- After these steps, when I launched Visio again in Data Manager, my menu bar had disappeared in Visio, and I couldn't save my workflow, even with the 'Save' icon.
Does somebody know, or understand, what's happening, please?
Thx a lot for any help,
remiHi,
As you have already installed MS-VISIO 2003.
Did you install Install Workflow Engine i.e. WorkflowInstall_Ver setup ?
If not please install it and then restart your machine.
Also, Note: Microsoft office Visio 2003 should be Standard edition.
Kindly update if you are still facing any issue..
Thanks and Regards,

Custom Function in SAP MDM Data Manager Validation
Hi SDN,
Can we write our own custom function for Validation of the records.
Actually my requirment is
For a particular Account Group The value of the G/L Account must be in particular range and it must have a specific Length.
For Example:
IF( Chart of Account = CCA AND Account Group = ACG, G/L Account No >=100 AND G/L Account No <= 1000 AND LEN(G/L Account No) = 6, False)
Pls provide some valuable suggestion .Hi Rajni thanx for ur prompt reply
The actual problem is that :
we have approx near about 100 Account Group, so it would become very complex to replicate same condition 100 times
AND
these account group may keep on increasing so even maintenance point of view it would be hard to maintain.
can u tell me some other way to do it, i mean is there any other feature by which we can perform validation in MDM.

Images ..... Image Manager Vs Data manger
Hi All,
would like to know the how Image manager and Data manager are connected........pls clarify
ex. If I upload an image thru Image manager........perform some actions on the image, will this image be available when I log in thru Data Manage? If yes, how can I see this thru data manager.
pls explain.
regards,
VVHi Venu,
Image manager is an Exclusive client to work with Images associated with master data within SAP-MDM.
Although you have the featute of uploading Images in MDM Console and working on them in the MDM Data manager client.
The number of enrichments you can do on the images and the extend to which you can develope the images are few.
So MDM has provided the MDM Image manager to work with Images in a more detailed fashion. For this you will have to install the Image Manager client separately and work with it.
It will be more useful when you are using the master data as a catalog item with images attached with them.
Hope It Helped
Thanks

I need to work in SAP MDM Import Server.
I have already worked in SAP MDM Import Manager.
I need to know a more about SAP MDM Import Server.
Is it an application?
The Import Server is a separate MDM application that uses import maps created within the MDM Import Manager to automatically load source data files into a repository.
The MDM Import Server (MDIS) automates the task of importing source data into MDM repositories. It is designed to reduce the processing complexity, resource requirements.
To know more about MDM Import server, which is also called the MDIS, please follow the link below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdm550/helpdata/en/43/12036df94c3e92e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
Go to MDM IMport Server (MDIS).
You will find the complete infomration about it.
You can find the complete process of Automated Import ansd Syndication in the link mentioned below:

Order to import data in to SAP MDM using import manager
HI All,
Is this the order to import data in to SAP MDM?
Import look up tables
Import Hierarchy Tables
Import Taxonomy Tables -
Non -Qualifiers
Then import main table----map Qualifers along with Mian table and import...
Can we import entire taxonomy tables (Qualifiers, Non-Qualifers) along with main table after importing look up tables?
Thanks
RajeevHi Rajeev
The sequence mentioned by you is correct for importing data in MDM- flat lookup, hierarchy first followed by Main table.
Can we import entire taxonomy tables (Qualifiers, Non-Qualifers) along with main table after importing look up tables?
I am assuming that you are implying Qualified table here.
Import to qualified tables can be done in 2 ways-
1. Import separately using the unique field for the main table for linkages to the main table records.
2. Import can be clubbed with the main table import itself. In the import map we can use Join functionality to do a lookup based on the unique field for the main table.
For more details on the mechanism please go through the threads below-

Deleting DataLocationGroups (with MDM Data Manager or MDM Java API)
I´ve a lot of DataLocationGroups which are results of tests (importing pictures into the images tables but not stored as BLOB). I can´t see that the underlying table is exposed within MDM Data Manager. So i tried to delete the useless nodes with the DeleteGroup command.
However this seems not to be supported by the API
com.sap.mdm.commands.CommandException: Deleting of data location groups is currently unsupported
at com.sap.mdm.group.commands.DeleteGroupCommand.execute(DeleteGroupCommand.java:91)
I´m using the new Java API with MDM 5.5SP6.
No chance to remove the nodes? Thanks for your answer. I would possibly open a service call to check if there is a hotfix available. Maybe you have some idea how i can check if the a Location is already existent? From experiments when importing with the MDM Data manager, it seems that a path is represented by a tree of HierLocationGroupNodes.
For example: I´ve imported from
cde271480MMPPpictures.jpg using the Data Manager. When using the RetrieveGroupTree Command, i can see that there are two nodes named cde271480 (Id: GN39) with child node named MMPP (Id: GN89).
Maybe i now want to use the API to import a picture from
cde271480 estlocation into the images table. To get a locationID usable for the setDataLocationId i had to compare the pathname of the picture with elements of the GroupTree from the root. If one element of the path is not existent in the tree, i have to create this new element and connect it to the parent. And i can then use the ID of the Leaf node for the DataLocationId. Is this correct? -
SAP MDM and Zycus or Zoomix or Kalido or Trillium
Hi All,
please, could you help me to understand better which is the best enterprise-wide master data management software solution for harmonizing, storing and managing master data over time??
Even if Ill use SAP MDM; I need to cleanse and harmonize MD.
What about Zynapse? Kalido? Zoomix? Trillium??
Thank u in advance

daHi,
Kalido MDM :
Master (reference) data management is thought as a special form of data warehouse federation(A federated data warehouse consists of a set of data warehouse instances that operate semi-autonomously, are generally geographically or organizationally disparate, but which can be thought of as one large data warehouse).
However, experience shows that such systems are complex to manage and that, over time, the absence of a common warehouse (a single common source of master data) leads to inconsistency and frequent errors in transactional data.
Furthermore, such systems generally do not easily lend themselves to being rapidly adapted to new business requirements since they are often dependent upon writing low-level code to effect the revisions.
The high level architecture for a federated set of data warehouses with integrated data, based on maintenance of master data using a Master Data Warehouse, which supplies
master data to both the data warehouse federation and the underlying source systems.
It is important to note here that the Master Data Warehouse is in effect an operational system since it manages all master data flowing through the organization.
This demands effective processes and procedures for management and ownership of master data.
SAP MDM
Companies striving to accelerate business growth and improve business performance need to innovate and remain flexible to dynamic market forces. NetWeaver provides the ideal platform for enabling such innovation and flexibility. Satyams NetWeaver Practice provides a host of solutions based on the primary user interface (EP) framework, the primary integration engine (XI), the primary data management tool (MDM), and the business process orchestration tool that enable customers to:
Design, build, and implement new business processes
Knit together disparate processes and systems
Develop a unified view of information from every facet of the organization, and deliver it to stakeholders when and how they need it through a dedicated NetWeaver Center of Excellence
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) enables master data on customers, partners and products to be consolidated and harmonized across the enterprise, making it available to all staff and business partners. A key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity across all IT systems.
The SAP NetWeaver Master Data Management (SAP NetWeaver MDM) component of SAP NetWeaver creates the preconditions for enterprise services and business process management. The functionality represents customers, products, employees, vendors, and user-defined data objects in unified form. With SAP NetWeaver MDM, customers can manage master data and supplemental content, such as texts, PDF documents, high-resolution images, or diagrams in a central business information warehouse.
SAP Master Data Management (SAP MDM) is a component of SAP's NetWeaver product group and is used as a platform to consolidate, cleanse and synchronise a single version of the truth for master data within a heterogeneous application landscape. It has the ability to distribute internally and externally to SAP and non-SAP applications. SAP MDM is a key enabler of SAP Enterprise Service-Oriented Architecture. Standard system architecture would consist of a single central MDM server connected to client systems through SAP Exchange Infrastructure using XML documents, although connectivity without SAP XI can also be achieved. There are five standard implementation scenarios:
Content Consolidation - centralised cleansing, de-duplication and consolidation, enabling key mapping and consolidated group reporting in SAP BI. No re-distribution of cleansed data.
Master Data Harmonisation - as for Content Consolidation, plus re-distribution of cleansed, consolidated master data.
Central Master Data Management - as for Master Data Harmonisation, but all master data is maintained in the central MDM system. No maintenance of master data occurs in the connected client systems.
Rich Product Content Management - Catalogue management and publishing. Uses elements of Content Consolidation to centrally store rich content (images, PDF files, video, sound etc.) together with standard content in order to produce product catalogues (web or print). Has standard adapters to export content to DTP packages.
Global Data Synchronization - provides consistent trade item information exchange with retailers through data hubs (e.g. 1SYNC) Some features (for example, workflow) require custom development out of the box to provide screens for end users to use.
Trillium :
It is basically used for Data profiling. It can be used for data enhancements with certain address masters and other masters avaialble in the box. There is a lot of data quality analysis can be done in Trillium
Advantages of Zoomix :
1.Fast, accurate, automated, self-learning system :
2.No scripting or rule development required Zoomix Accelerator never requires the development of scripts or the manual definition or maintenance of data processing rules. The system automatically interprets data to learn the optimal matching, normalization and classification required for any data domain.
3.Processes all types of complex corporate data Zoomix Accelerator works equally well with product data, customer data, supplier data, financial data, etc. in any language or combination of languages.
4.Rapid integration into existing applications and business workflows The system's integration with daily user workflow provides objective, on-the-fly data correction. Erroneous, duplicated and incorrectly categorized data are repaired immediately, without disrupting routine business functions.

Hello Experts,
I am new to MDM, and want to know what is difference between SAP MDM and IBM MDM.
Also please provide some good documetation on SAP MDM.
For what it is used, what are the advantages of using it and all.
Thanks,
Sumahi,
SAP MDM:SAP MDM enables master data on customers, partners and products to be consolidated and harmonized across the enterprise, making it available to all staff and business partners. A key component of SAP NetWeaver, SAP MDM ensures data integrity across all IT systems. The IBM View
In IBM's view, MDM is a set of disciplines, technologies, and solutions used to create and maintain consistent, complete, contextual, and accurate business data for all stakeholders (users, applications, data warehouses, processes, enterprises, trading partners, and so on). It's a holistic framework for managing structured and unstructured data that's aligned with business processes and managed throughout the information life cycle
To a large extent, SAPs NetWeaver initiatives are concessions to the reality of heterogeneity. No customer is going to have a completely SAP- or Oracle-based environment. With NetWeaver and Fusion, SAP and Oracle propose to accommodate the heterogeneous data-access requirements of their customers while keeping their bread-and-butter application software at the heart of things.
IBMs middleware vision displaces the primacy of the ERP vendors. Its probably too much to say that customers who embrace Big Blues WebSphere data integration middleware can pick and choose from between and among best-of-breed financial, SCM, and MRP (among others) products for their enterprise application needs. If nothing else, however, IBMs data integration and MDM middleware stack does give customers an alternative to SAP .
However one of the problems with IBMs approach to MDM is that, taken in isolation, it would mean that application vendors would need to completely rewrite their applications to take advantage of the MDM layer. This isnt going to happen, not least because vendors like SAP have their own MDM capabilities.
Moreover, users those do not want to convert to IBM's new multiform MDM offering will have to
negotiate separate maintenance agreements to protect their long-term investments in
WPC (which is WebSphere Product Center is a product information management solution for building a consistent central repository.).
Lastly, users should work with IBM to ensure that the standard IBM three-year
maintenance commitment will continue with the current WPC product, independent of
any move to a single MDM platform.
