SAP Message Server has wrong Servername

Hello all,
after adding a new SAP System to the Solotion Manager in the TR SMSY I defined the right Message Server.
After connecting to the first Client at the ABAP Stack and reading System parameter via RFC the Message Server was set to one of the Intances of the System.
The Solman was installed with the Support Satck 22 and than Setup was done.
Searching the notes I found no hints for the error.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Franz-Josef

I haven't been able to fix that, but there's a work-around: if you right-click on the system in the SMSY tree list, and set it to manual, you can then edit the message server field.

Sean

  • BW Publishing using SAP message server

    SAP authentication is configured using a message server on a logon group. The authentication works fine for the logon process; however, there is an issue publishing documents using BW publishing feature. During the publishing process the follow error is displayed "An error occurred while saving and/or publishing. The return code 99 was from the server. Error while communicating with Crystal Enterprise; check SAP Gateway."
    In addition, the BW publishing service is working fine by connecting to an application server instead of a message server.
    Has anyone used the message server/logon group in the BW publishing process successfully?

    Initially, in the entitlement systems tab of the SAP authentication in the CMC, a message server and logon group were used for setting up the SAP authentication, but not the application server and system number.
    The BW Publication configuration was exactly configured as per the process described in your book.
    Yes, we could save reports.
    Yes, we could import roles
    Yes, necessary rights were assigned
    In the BW source parameters, in the parameter, Application server, the message server name (FQDN) was entered and other parameters were LOGON group and system number.
    The environment is a Linux Red Hat 5, Production cluster with 3 BOE servers, SAP message server port is set to3600, SAP gateway port is 3300and connectivity from BOE server verified on both 3600 and 3300 ports.
    SAP server was able to connect with BOBJ server on the SSH port 22

  • Help me fix my email when i get the message, server has failed , can not get mail

    How do I fix my email when I keep getting the message, can not get mail, server connection has failed? In very plain basic english or even on youtube?

    Hey helpsusanplease,
    Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with mail on your iPhone. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3899
    Try these basic troubleshooting steps first
    1. Tap Safari and attempt to load a webpage (try any webpage). If you can load a webpage, then your device has Internet access. If you are unable to load a webpage, follow these troubleshooting steps.
              - Try to use an alternate Internet connection if available:
                        1. Try a different Wi-Fi connection
                        2. If your iOS device has an active cellular data plan, tap Settings > Wi-Fiand turn off Wi-Fi.
                        3. If the affected email account is provided by your Internet provider, see if your issue is resolved while connected to your home Wi-Fi network.*
    2. Log in to your email provider's website to ensure that the account is active and the password is correct.
    3. Restart your iOS device.
    4. Delete the affected email account from your device.
              - Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
              - Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
              - Add your account again.
    * If you are only able to use your email account while connected to your home network, this may be a limitation put in place by your email service provider. For further support, please contact your email service provider directly.
    Thanks,

  • Web dispatcher redirects to Message Server

    Hello SDN members.
    Iu2019m using web dispatcher in front of a ABAP+JAVA installation. When Iu2019m tracing (HTTP) requests from the portal that are aimed to the ABAP WAS (usually requests to the webgui service) I can see the following:
    1. the request are first directed to port 8100 (message server)
    2. and then redirected to port 8000 (its)
    Is this normal? Iu2019m aware that the Web Dispatcher uses the message server for information regarding load balancing, but is this redirect necessary? If not, how can I avoid it? From what i have seen in the SAP documentation, Web Dispatcher sends the requests to the ICM directly. Maybe I am missing something here.
    Thank you very much for your time.
    giorgos.

    Hello Allaine,
    Thanks for your answer. It really clarifies the process. However I would like to elaborate a bit on a gray (for me) spot:
    SAP suggests that you should use Web Dispatcher as an HTTP Load Balancer (especially when a portal is used) and not the Message Server. Since that is what we are trying to do, I expected not to see any u201Cactionu201D on the Message Server port (8100 - even though the Web Dispatcher uses the Message Server for information regarding available servers, I thought that this would happen in the background). My expectations are based on the Web Dispatcher documentation where it is stated that:
    Unlike [HTTP Load Balancing Using the SAP Message Server|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/47/c5935087b62d66e10000000a42189c/content.htm], redirects are not executed when the SAP Web dispatcher is used. This avoids the associated disadvantages (several IP addresses must be known, book marking is not possible, authentication after changing the application server).
    So, what you meant in your post is that when the message server is accessed the HTTP balancing has already taken place? Or not?
    Also as stated in Note [857596|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/857596] HTTP 301 is sent by the Message Server when Load Balancing takes place. Thatu2019s why I said I want to avoid the redirection . I would like to comply with SAP directive to use the Web Dispatcher for HTTP Load Balancing and not the Message Server.
    any suggestion is valuable!
    Giorgos.

  • Message Server in place of Application Server in DS Datastore

    Hi,
    I'm trying to configure my SAP Application Datastore, linking it to the SAP message server instead of one of the four SAP application nodes available.
    The idea is to let the message server manage on which node the DS abap will be executed.
    I tried by replacing the Application server name both with message server ip and its fully qualified domain name, leaving target host empty, but it does not work.
    Both changes returned a "Cannot establish database connection" as I tried  to apply them.
    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks and Happy New Year

    P.S.: DS version is 12.2.2.0

    U can put the ip of the host server or the hostname of the server. How can you put the company's name. And wven if you put the company name which machine it will connect.

  • FPN configured for message server port

    Hello,
    I would like to configure my Consumer Portal to connect to my Producer on port :8101 (the default message server port of the Producer).  However, each time I try with this conifguration FPN breaks and nothing works - can't browse the PCD or see remote roles via Identity Management (when I switch the config back to point to port :50000 in the Producer object on the Consumer it works fine again).  I'm not using a SAP web dispatcher between the two portals but Producer portal is indeed listening on port :8101 since I can hit it directly.  Is this a limitation of FPN?
    My http trace shows an ABORT message when trying to connect with the :8101 configuration.
    The 8101 port is necessary to be configured in order to leverage our clustered load balanced environment which has the 8101 message server port listening and redirecting to a cluster of servers.
    Patrick

    When using Remote Delta Links one can configure the SAP Message Server's RMI-P4 port (3901 by default) for RMI-P4 communication.
    For the HTTP load balancing you cannot configure it to point to the HTTP port of SAP Message Server (8101 by default) only the application server's HTTP port on the Central Instance (e.g. 50000) can be used.
    But don't bother yourselves with this, because SAP recommends using SAP Webdispatcher for HTTP load balancing in FPN scenario, so don't use SAP Message Server directly for HTTP load balancing in the FPN connection setup!

  • Reconfiguring Message Server

    Hello All,
    Consider a SAP landscape consisting of a DBCI and a separate Application (DI) server. The message server has been configured at install time to be on the DBCI server. Is it possible to reconfigure so as to host the message server on the APP (DI)  server?
    Any pointers in this directions are appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Subodh

    Hi Subodh,
    Your DEFAULT Profile should contain the parameter: rdisp/mshost
    Change it to point it to the new message server.
    and also change the START Profile of that particular application server(DI) to start message server on the application server.
    Execute_00                                  local $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/sapmscsa -n pf=$(DIR_PROFILE)/<SID>_DVEBMGS<INSTANCE NUMBER>_<hostname>_MS                                         ms.sap<SID>_DVEBMGS<INSTANCE NUMBER>
    Something like the above:
    replace <SID> , <INSTANCE NUMBER> <hostname> with your details.
    However try this thing with your Test instance first.
    Regards,
    Siddhesh

    Vipin,
    I don't have access to our firewall myself to confirm what ports and services we opened (I worked with our Network Operations team to get this done), but if I recall correctly, it was pretty limited, just http and https over tcp ports 80, 443, 8100, and 8101.  Probably could even restrict that to just https over 443 and 8101.  However, from your configuration, you don't yet have your web dispatcher configured to talk to your message server over https, only http.  I would recommend that you get the web dispatched completely configured and working in as close to your final desired configuration as possible while keeping it inside your firewall, not your dmz.  Then move it to the dmz and see what breaks, and that way you know it's just the firewall that needs configuration at that point.
    To configure the SSL termination, the following are the parameters required and the way that I configured them in our scenario (which terminates incoming SSL requests and re-encrypts them when sending them on to the backend, and also uses SSL for message server communication):
    rdisp/mshost = mshost.domain.org
    ms/https_port = 8101
    wdisp/server_info_protocol = https
    wdisp/group_info_protocol = https
    wdisp/url_map_protocol = https
    icm/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTPS,PORT=443,TIMEOUT=30,PROCTIMEOUT=600
    icm/server_port_2 = PROT=HTTPS,PORT=8101,TIMEOUT=30,PROCTIMEOUT=600
    icm/host_name_full = wdhost.domain.org     (note, use the externally visible name as registered on your SSL certificate for web dispatcher here; does not need to match the actual machine hostname, but must be resolvable in external DNS)
    icm/HTTP/admin_0 = PREFIX=/sap/admin,DOCROOT=\usr\sap\RW1\W00\data\icmanroot/admin,AUTHFILE=\usr\sap\RW1\SYS\global\security\data\icmauth.txt,PORT=8101
    ssl/ssl_lib = $(DIR_EXECUTABLE)\sapcrypto.dll
    ssl/server_pse = $(DIR_INSTANCE)\sec\SAPSSLS.pse
    ssl/client_pse = $(DIR_INSTANCE)\sec\SAPSSLC.pse
    wdisp/ssl_encrypt = 2
    wdisp/ssl_auth = 1
    is/HTTP/show_detailed_errors = FALSE
    wdisp/permission_table = $(DIR_INSTANCE)\sec\ptab
    On the backend host I have the following parameters:
    sec/libsapsecu = \usr\sap\RP1\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapcrypto.dll
    ssl/ssfapi_lib = \usr\sap\RP1\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapcrypto.dll
    ssl/ssl_lib = \usr\sap\RP1\DVEBMGS00\exe\sapcrypto.dll
    ssf/name = SAPSECULIB
    icm/server_port_2 = PROT=HTTPS,PORT=443,PROCTIMEOUT=-1
    ms/server_port_1 = PROT=HTTPS,PORT=8101
    Naturally, a server certificate is configured on the backend that the web dispatcher trusts (it can be an internally generated certificate; the outside public just needs to trust the web dispatcher's certificate, so that one should come from a recognized CA).  Port 8101 is NOT open from the outside, just from the dmz and only to/from the web dispatcher host (this does allow me to use the webadmin interface from the inside).  The https service also has to be activated on the backend in SMICM.
    There's good advice about security setup for the web dispatcher in Note 870127, and troubleshooting advice in the Note mentioned in your tracefile output, 552286.  Fairly complete documentation is in the online help at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/de/89023c59698908e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm.  Note 538405 is also good, more for performance configuration than security.
    I hope you find this helpful.

  • Problem with message server.

    Hi folks,
    We had to use IDES (4.7) on a standalone workstation to test some BizTalk functionality.
    The workstation has Windows Server 2003 and we only have SQL Server 2000 available with us.
    The installation has gone through fine, we are able to even log into the 000 client with the SAP* userid. How ever, the MMC reports that the message server has errors and has STOPPED the service.
    I have scourged the forum trying to look out for answers but is a NO GO till now.

    Is that all you have in your hosts? Usually you should have the hostname plus the IP addresse of the system.

  • How can a remote jms receiver detect loss of connection to Messaging server

    Plan:
    Messaging server (like JbossMQ /SonicMQ) is hosted on one machine.
    A JMS receiver (MDB/core java program) on another machine receives messages from the messaging server.
    Secnario:
    The JMS receiver is now continuously listening or occasionally reading messages from a certain queue of the server using a JMS connection.
    Now the messaging server has this receiver in its list of receivers for that particular queue.
    For some reason the messaging server is down and then restarted.
    The JMS connection of the receiver is now invalid.
    When the messaging servers comes up again its list of receivers is empty.
    Required Solution:
    Can you please help me on how the JMS receiver can detect the above scenario and re-establish the connetion to the messaging server, the next time the server is up.
    Observations:
    When I create a message consumer or queue receiver in a j2se program, and take messages from JbossMQ I have some additional threads running on my JVM. These threads are not directly created by the program and servers only for receiving messages. One of these threads is catching an exception and printing a stack trace when it detects that the connection is lost. This will also result in the closing of JMS connection. The problem is that the exception is not thrown for the programmer to catch and handle it at some level. I also tried ExceptionListener and waited for ping interval. Is there a concept of receiver listening to the periodic heart beat of the server. Please give me guidance, solutions or corrections.
    For comments on this, Thanks in advance

    Hi Leendert,
    do you want to use the JMS API directly? In this case you have to create the connection factory on system X. From system Y, you access the JNDI on system X and look up the connection factory. Since you are accessing the JNDI on system X from outside, you need to set some properties to create the InitialContext:
        Properties env = new Properties();
        env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sap.engine.services.jndi.InitialContextFactoryImpl");
        env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, <system X>:<p4 port>); // replace with your settings
        env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, <user name>); // replace with your settings
        env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, <password>); // replace with your settings
        naming = new InitialContext(env);
    Hope that helps.

    Sabine

  • EP Message server

    Hello All,
    We are having problems with EP DEV after a copy back.
    When I have accessed our message server (http://server:8100/msgserver) there are a list of commands but nothing in the files.  If I compare this to QA, there is various information in the files such as server, port number, FQDN.
    My question is where can I edit these files on the server? Or do I use the config tool.
    Any help appeciated.
    Thanks,
    Nick.

    Hi,
    please have a look at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e7/aba83f4d903c17e10000000a114084/frameset.htm.
    The information displayed at /msgserver/commands contains only information about application servers that are connected to the message server.
    So if your QA message server has more connected servers (maybe a WebDispatcher infront of the installation with LogonGroups definied, ...) , than there probably will be more information available.
    (I just checked with a dev installation here and the entries for msgserver/html/aslist, msgserver/html/lglist are empty.
    In /msgserver/html/logon  I can see my J2EE Engine, the SDM and some other ports used by the J2EE Engine.
    Regards,
    Holger.

  • How do I set the mailhost attribute in Messaging Server 3.5?

    <B>Intent of the hostname aliases feature: </B><BR>
    In Messaging Server 3.5, the hostname aliases feature is designed to facilitate migrating and co-hosting. For
    instance, if you set up all of your sales and marketing users on one Messaging Server, but suspect that you'll
    want to split those groups in the future, you can give the sales users the mailhost value sales.company.com and
    the marketing users the mailhost value mktg.company.com. This feature can also be used for fast failover if
    you want to be able to move a group of users quickly from one Messaging Server to another.
    <P>
    <B>How to use hostname aliases and how to set mailhost and MessageHostName settings: </B><BR>
    Each user's mailhost attribute can have only one value. All users on a single Messaging Server do not need to
    have the same mailhost value in the LDAP directory. The user's mailhost value should match one of the
    MessageHostName attribute values in netscape.mail.conf. (On Unix, the path to this file is
    /etc/netscape.mail.conf. Windows NT users must use Notepad to create this file in
    server-root\bin\mail\Server\etc, where server-root is the base directory where your SuiteSpot servers are
    installed.)
    <P>
    With Messaging Server 3.5 and later, MessageHostName can have multiple values. Think of hostnames as
    colors. Each mail account in the LDAP server has a single color. Each Messaging Server has one or more
    colors. A Messaging Server will check an LDAP account's color (mailhost) against its own color(s)
    (MessageHostName), and if they match, the server considers the account to be local. <P>
    For example: <BR>
    MessageHostName=red.company.com,green.company.com,blue.company.com
    <BR>where original-host-name is the machine's real name. This entry must come first as the server uses the first
    entry to generate machine specific postmaster forms. The subsequent host names can be any values that you
    wish separated by commas that are inside the brackets. Do not place spaces anywhere on the line.
    <P>
    In this example, if the mailhost setting for the user is set for either red.company.com or green.company.com, or
    blue.company.com, the server will consider the user to be local. (Hostname aliases must also be configured in
    DNS. Please see the DNS section at the end of this technote.) No other Messaging Server should list either
    red.company.com or green.company.com or blue.company.com in the MessageHostName field. Mail could
    not be delivered properly if either red.company.com or green.company.com or blue.company.com were listed
    in any other server's MessageHostName field. A user with a mailhost setting of violet.company.com would not
    be considered local to this machine.
    <P>
    Although it is possible with Messaging Server 3.52 to list more than 16 different host names in the
    MessageHostName field, it is not recommended because increasing the number of hostnames in this field beyond
    16 will have a negative impact on performance. This feature is intended to provide fast failover and/or
    migration of users. If users need to be divided up into many smaller groups, the use of some other LDAP
    attribute is recommended.
    <P>
    In Messaging Server 3.0, you can associate a server with only one host name. Consequently, all mail accounts
    on a given server must have the same mailhost value in the LDAP directory. This should be the name of the
    server, i.e. host.company.com
    <P>
    </A>A note about DNS
    Hostname aliases must be configured in DNS. This is done with a CNAME record. For example:
    A 128.101.101.101
    CNAME
    <P>
    Additional MX records are not required to use hostname aliases.
    <P>
    If you aren't sure about how to configure your DNS records, consult the book <I>DNS and Bind </I> by Paul Albitz and
    Cricket Liu.

    You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection
    See "Firefox connection settings":

  • Delete a single message in messaging server

    Is it possible on command line for an administrator to delete a single message in a mailbox?
    Without knowing their password (only mailbox name) and just using CLI.
    Kind Regards,
    Nicole

    if you can find the message:
    rm message.file
    reconstruct -r user/userid
    The Messaging Server has no built in mechanism to deal with individual messages other than expiring them, once they're in the store.
